Don’t put that fucking jimsdeadbones comic where Freeman’s Mind Gordon says the r-slur on my dash I swear to god

Hey I was gonna leave it at the title but now actually I’m gonna rant about this really quick. That comic by @jimsdeadbones fucking sucks. As does literally any comic where the joke or drama is Freemind Gordon being ableist or bigoted or anything like that, god help me I can already see you people turning this into a trend with more comics.

Freeman’s Mind was started on the internet in 2007 by a straight white cis guy, and the main joke was the main character being a selfish asshole. Of COURSE it had a few jokes that we look back on and realize are not at all okay in the early episodes. It is not immune to criticism for those jokes, and they need to be addressed by the fandom at large. That’s part of consuming media critically.

But you DON’T DO THAT by making comics where you apply ROSS SCOTT’S MISTAKES to a weird AU version of Gordon Freeman and write/draw comics about it as though Gordon Freeman is personally responsible for his creator’s mistakes!!! Am I the only fucking person who sees how that is the SINGLE most ass-backwards, ridiculous, tasteless way to address ableism in a piece of media you like???

The only thing this does - the ONLY thing - is trivialize the genuine ableism in earlier Freeman’s Mind. That’s it. It is the opposite of helpful. No matter what your intention in making a comic like that is, whether you want to bring up discussion of the unsavory parts of Freeman’s Mind, or you don’t even care and just somehow think this is an okay thing to do on its own for drama or humor, all you’re doing is trivializing the genuine ableism in earlier Freeman’s Mind.

Don’t put that fucking comic on my dash and for the love of god don’t turn this into a trend in comics and posts about the HLVRAI but it’s all Gordons joke AU. I’m so fucking tired.
