The risk of dating you is thrilling when Satoru's just a teenager in puppy love. But as he grows older, and heads into those dreaded 20s, the risk makes him more and more nervous.
What if something happens to you?
He presses kiss after kiss to your forehead and feels his chest tremble, feels his lips quiver, as he refrains from telling you the truth about the Jujutsu world. Satoru just can't do it.
There are so many instances of him saving you from curses that you're oblivious about. He just smiles strangely, and you wonder why he looks like he's just seen a ghost. Because he has, those pretty eyes see ghosts. But those pretty eyes also see you, "What am I looking at?" he responds after you ask why he's looking at you so tenderly, "I'm looking at my future wife." he flirts just to fluster you.
That's at the cafe, when things are still simple. He keeps thinking to himself, as he lays with you in bed some nights;
I want to marry you.
I'm going to marry you.
Please let me be your husband one day.
As if he's trying to manifest it.
Everything is okay-ish... until he gets pangs of fright when your name starts to be known outside of his closed circle of friends.
It's October 11th.
Gojo Satoru breaks up with you.
He leads you to believe that the two of you are just "right person, wrong time". It all hurts an incomprehensible amount for him, to finally cut the string that tethers the two of you together.
He sits on the stairs, head in his hands, mourning.
He starts many mornings with crying spells that last until midday.
He destroys evidence of you and him. In case anyone ever finds it and thus finds your apartment, or work, or college... or anything.
But he can't part with a very special photo. It's you and him in Okinawa, sharing a cheesy kiss at the beach. In the moment this photo was captured, Gojo remembers having whispered some dirty joke in your ear and that's why you smiled so big into his kiss.
He drifts to sleep to the lullaby lovesongs that defined your love.
Years pass, he refuses to even talk to you. The heartbreak worsens with time, he laughs when he realizes that on his 27th birthday.
Isn't time supposed to heal all wounds? Someone said that to him once. Well, they must have been lying without realizing it.
The day Gojo Satoru is sealed, he looks into Suguru's eyes, and remembers you through them. When he resides in that awful prison realm, he only thinks of you you you you you you you oh god he misses you so much that it feels like the very thought of your smile stabs his chest. Every memory is painful. Every flashback puts one more crack in his heart.
"Can't I ever catch a break...?" He laughs to himself, chattering skeletons making their eerie symphony around him.
He thinks. Ponders. Wonders. Broods. Daydreams. All about you. Always about you. Never anything else. Just his first love, from the late spring of his 17th year.
His earthly goddess.
The purpose of his benevolent actions.
He cries. And sobs. And weeps. Because no one can hear him but the skeletons and he's sure they don't mind the sight or sound of a 27 man howling in pain over a lost lover.
It's not just your relationship that he's mourning. But the fact he can't feel you in this cube... that he can't feel your presence in the world... that's worse than the heartbreak. At least through all these years, he's been able to sense your existence. Feel the subtle ripples of your soul no matter how distant you are; you'd be stood in a coffee shop, he'd be at Jujutsu High teaching, and yet feeling you.
Because as he promised to you at 17, "Half my soul is yours. And half your soul is mine. I'll always be with you even if I'm not there."
He has the biggest breakdown of his life in that little cramped suffocating claustrophobic eerie creepy box.
It's 19 days later. He's out. He's back in the world. And he feels the sense of you, your existence, swelling in his chest, tickling his mind, prodding his heart.
"Gojo sensei, where are you headed?"
"I'm gonna go find my other half." he says cryptically.
It's a stark bright day.
Gojo Satoru knocks at your apartment door.
You open it.
He looks at you, and you look at him.
"Hi."
"...hey...? Wow. Haha... you grew into your features, huh?"
Your voice fills his heart with life.
"You too... glad you still live in the same place... I was worried you might have moved out..."
"... Ah, Satoru, you'd be able to find me no matter what corner of the world I resided in."
Your laugh fills his mind with pleasant memories.
There's an a magnetism between you and him just like there always used to be. It feels like two magnets connecting at last, after feeling the distant attraction throughout all these years of distance.
"You're right." Satoru says after a silence of just staring into your eyes.
"I'll always find my way home."
A silence ensues after he says this.
"...haha... don't cry... or I'll cry..."
"... Satoru... I thought of you every day after you left me at the station."
"... me too."
"... why did you leave?"
He stares at you.
"... I was scared of you being in danger."
He gulps.
"Me? In danger? But you're the strongest, why would it matter."
Oh god that's right. You said it then when you were 17, "You're the strongest" and he carried that title with him from then. And now you've said it again. He's reminded. He feels a bit stupid. A bit ridiculous. A bit...
"You're right..." he chokes up. "I am. I could have protected you I guess..."
"... yeah, duh."
He smiles meekly.
It was more complicated than that, sweetheart. But I won't tell you.
He hesitates. He contemplates.
"I have to tell you everything... will you promise to believe everything I say even if it sounds insane?"
"Of course. What is it?"
He inhales deeply. And instead of blurting out his whole life story of being a sorcerer in the Jujutsu world, he just leans in and kisses you hard and truthfully. Cups your cheeks. Closes his eyes. Tastes you like a sweet from his childhood that he hasn't had for years. Presses to you. Takes in your scent.
Yeah yeah... he'll tell you everything in a minute.
But for now just let him kiss you until he runs out of breath.
Let him just...
"Hey..." he pulls away, gasping, "Let me marry you."
"Haha, Satoru..." you take it as a joke and laugh, because it sounds as bizarre and unexpected as one. Then you realize there's that serious look on his face. "... Satoru?"
"Can I?"
"... what?"
"Can I please?"
"... huh??"
"Can I marry you, please?"
He looks at you and waits for your answer. His poor heart. It's palpitating. His whole chest cavity inspires with love for you. This man that you haven't seen in years has just asked if you'll let him marry you — with very specific wording.
Can he? Will you let him?
It's funny in a way, because you think to yourself; this is such a Satoru thing to do... show up unannounced years later on your doorstep and ask for your hand in marriage as if no time has passed, as if you know the full story.
"Satoru... what happened to you throughout these years for you to come back to me and ask for my hand in marriage?" you ask, genuinely baffled.
He swallows slowly. "I know I sound like I've lost my mind. But I promise I haven't."
"That's hard to believe. The Satoru I remember was always on the brink of mania. A bit insane but not quite."
You make him laugh. "Yeah..."
"So are you asking to marry me out of insanity?"
"No."
"Well alright then. I guess I'll marry you."
You make him laugh again, with that funny tone. He hasn't laughed genuinely in years... it's always been that plastic laugh. But this is his genuine laugh. Silky and quiet. The opposite of his demeanor.
"I guess I should be explaining everything to you properly... before I ask you something like that."
"You're damn right..."
"... don't scold me too hard when I tell you all the reasons I left. Or, if you do, then at least hold me while you scold me. And run your fingers through my hair like you used to."
"Satoru."
"Yes?"
His heart throbs. He looks at you.
"Stop standing at the doorway and come inside."
"Oh."
You sigh. He smiles. Then he bows his head so it doesn't hit the top of the doorframe. Damn tiny Tokyo apartments. Your archway always had it out for the crown of his head. You laugh when he bumps into it just like he always used to.
So the two of you sit down and just talk. And talk. Maybe cry a bit. Actually, you cry a lot. And he holds you. And he says he's sorry. He says sorry over and over, as if the word is a bandage he's trying to wrap around all your heartbreak wounds that he caused.
"I'm sorry."
Satoru's apologies aren't easy to come by, and when you receive them, they nurse your heart. It's the gentleness with which he says it, and earnest too. Each successive sorry means more than the last.
"My angel..."
When you call him this after he vents to you about his time in the Prison Realm, and his overwhelming duty of being the strongest, he breaks down completely and just weeps in your arms.
He sobs like you've never heard him sob before, like a dog.
Finally. At least for a moment. He could be weak. Let down his guard. Be raw. Be emotional. Not a teacher. Not a sorcerer. Just your boy. Your Satoru.
Your consolation is all he wanted throughout these years. He looks up at you, eyes red and sore, nose sniffling, and stares at you like he can see your soul.
"...Satoru?"
"Marry me."
You chuckle again.
"If that will stop your tears..." you joke.
He sniffles loudly and swallows, composing himself.
"I thought about marrying you so much when we were together... 'n I tried so hard to bite my tongue when your name nearly rolled off it while talking to my students some days. I was always..."
On the verge of saying your name.
He sniffles long and hard and waits for your hand to weave into his hair.
"Will you think about it?"
"I will."
There's a silence. Satoru feels hopeful. He lays on your chest, arms around you like you're his whole world that he won't dare let go of again.
"There." you say with finality. "I thought about it. Let's get married."
"That took you, like, ten seconds."
You laugh with him. "Yeah... I already knew in my heart when you asked me at the doorway... you know... Satoru... it's funny. When you left, it felt like half my soul was gone. And when you knocked on my doorstep, it felt like I was whole again. Does that sound freaky, or does it tie into all this... Juju... Jujutsu stuff?"
He's silent.
"I have no idea."
"Wow. My future husband isn't knowledgeable at all." you joke.
His heart flutters at 'future husband'.
"Sorry." he says, smiling softly, "My mind is blank when your fingers are running through my hair."
The two of you go on and on, until you're laid in bed sleeping at each other's side. Resting. And god, did Gojo Satoru need a good rest.
In your arms, he's no longer an insomniac.

The Calm Before The Storm (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Tumblr media
Heyo! I wrote this while thinking of these dummies (affectionate) so now I'm gonna share it with y'all :D I just love Gojo and Geto's dynamic, and Riko makes me happy- so naturally we're gonna get some fluff with them! I hope you like it!
CW: JJK anime spoilers (Season 2, Ep. 3); swearing
Cloud 9 (Taglist):
@thatbigbisexual29 @duckymcdoorknob @baby-tickles2022 @cupcake-spice13 @chuuyahasdimples
Summary: In which Geto worries about Gojo, Riko becomes a GeJo shipper, and tickle wars commence.
“Hey.” A finger poked along Gojo’s ribs, making the teen shoot up with a grunt. “Take a break. You’re working too hard.”
“Oh yes- cause stretching out like a log is really straining me.” Gojo stuck his tongue out at Geto, rubbing at the spot his friend jabbed. “I’ll be sure to limit my time bathing in the sun going forward.”
“You know what I mean.” The finger moved upward, gently flicking him against his forehead- right between the eyes.
“So, are you two like- dating or something?” Riko asked from her spot on the nearest seat, leaning into her hands as she watched them. “Cause you act like a married couple.”
“We’re not-” Gojo began.
“He’s not my type.” Geto shrugged. Gojo gaped, glasses drooping in shock.
“The hell does that mean? I am SO your type!”
“Eh?”
“Well- you’re not my type either, so there.”
“Now hold up-”
“Definitely married.” Riko smiled against her hands, giggling when Gojo glared with a huff.
“He’s just being fussy. Don’t pay it any mind.” Geto poked Gojo once more, earning another huff and a bat to his hands. “Come on- stop glaring at the poor girl.”
“Would you get o-ohoff! Ugh, you’re so annoy-Eh!” Gojo yelped when Riko suddenly appeared, bouncing over to him with wiggling fingers. “Not you too, you bra-ahahaht! No dohoohohn’t!”
“Oh man- he’s ticklish!” She cried, delighted. Her cheers quickly turned to squeals of her own when he retaliated, digging into her ribs with rapid fingers. “Stahhahap it, you jeheheherk!”
“You fihihihihirst!”
“I’ll leave you to it.” Geto took a seat on Riko’s abandoned chair, stretching out his arms as the duo beside him battled it out. From the looks of it- Gojo was clearly winning, but Riko was nothing to sneeze at. He closed his eyes as he stretched, letting out a low hum of satisfaction.
He could fall asleep like this- and he probably would have had the room not suddenly grown quiet.
“I’ll go low, you go high.” Gojo whispered, the sound of footsteps approaching him came after. Riko was giggling softly, barely over a whisper as Gojo shushed her. How cute- they seemed to think they could get the jump on him.
They’d see how wrong they were very soon.
“Ready? One, Two, THREE~” Geto shot his eyes open, reaching up to find-
“HA!” Gojo cackled as he grabbed his wrists, pulling them up and over his head. “You fell for it! Riko, sit on him!”
“On it!” Within seconds he was pinned, the girl snug against his thighs while his best friend kept an iron grip on his wrists. “Now what?”
“Tickle him!”
“Okay!”
“Now wait just a moment-” Geto was about to argue his case when he snapped his lips shut, eyes widening as fingers skittered across his torso. Still dressed in his beach clothes, his bare chest was accessible, giving Riko plenty of surface area to work with. He forced himself to stiffen, hoping that would numb the ticklishness shooting up his nerve endings.
“Hm…are you sure he’s ticklish? He’s not even squirming.” Riko switched to pinching, then kneading- both methods that made his current predicament that much harder to deal with. “You were as wiggly as that sea cucumber!”
“Oh he’s ticklish alright- look at him; he’s barely holding it in!” Gojo’s voice was suddenly close to his ear- way too close. “Come on Suguru, you know you wanna laugh. Just let it out~ We won’t judge how you sound.”
Oh that tricky bastard! Geto cracked one eye open to glare, flexing one of his hands out to graze the skin on Gojo’s belly. The other boy jerked back with a huff, cheeks pink as he fumed. One point for Geto!
“Riko, go for the hips.” No! The consequences of his actions!
“Okay! Here I GO! Tickle tickle tickle tickle tickle!” She cried, dropping her hands to the specified spot before going to town. Geto almost threw her off with how hard he spasmed, his stoney expression cracking with each flick of her fingers. “It’s working! It’s working, he’s gonna laugh!”
“Keep going! Use your nails!” Gojo encouraged, readjusting his grip on Geto’s arms so he only needed one hand. With the other he dragged it down to his armpit, moving past his shirt so he could wiggle within. “Give in, Suguru. Laugh for us.”
That did it. Every defense in Geto’s book suddenly shattered as he sank in his seat, head thrown back and laughter flooding out. “Ah! Aheahhahhahahahhaha! Nohohohoohoho! Nohohoho doohohohohn’t you freahahhahaking dahhahahahhahre! Sahahhaatoruuhuhuhuhu!”
“Wow- he’s so loud!” Riko sounded amazed, sharing a grin with Gojo.
“Yeah! Let’s make him scream louder!” He mouthed a new word, and Riko nodded, wasting no time. Scooting down his legs, she latched onto his thighs.
“AHAHAHHA!” Geto all but shrieked, arching with a howl at the new feeling. His face was on fire, and tears were burning the back of his eyes as he thrashed and squirmed in his seat. He had to get out of this soon!
With a sudden burst of strength, he broke free of Gojo’s grip, grabbing him by the forearms and pulling the other down into the chair with him. Riko was just barely saved from Gojo’s flailing limbs when Geto jabbed her in the belly with his foot, making her scramble back with a giggle.
The chair was a warzone- fingers flying and limbs soaring. Gojo was switching between yells of triumph and mercy as Geto dug into his lower ribs, just barely avoiding the other’s vengeful fingers in return. Riko quickly joined the fray once more, trying to get Geto’s neck while swatting away Gojo’s retaliating fingers against her waist. The chair shook beneath them- still somewhat intact despite three teenagers going to town on it.
Before long, it was empty- three bodies spread before it as they gasped for air between wheezes and hiccups. Gojo’s glasses were missing alongside Riko’s bandana. Geto’s hair fell in long strands down his back, just as disheveled as the others. Someone’s foot was pressing into Geto’s hip, but he didn’t care.
“Sohoho…who wohohon?” He asked.
“Mehehe!” Gojo raised a tired peace sign, letting his arm flop over his eyes a second later. Riko twirled a finger in sleepy celebration. “Ugh, I’m so…tired.” He groaned through a yawn.
“Then sleep. We don’t have anywhere to go until morning.” Geto nudged him, barely fighting off his own yawn. “You do need rest, Satoru.”
“I’ll rest…when I’m..” Gojo didn’t finish his sentence, head drooping sideways as sleep took over.
“You really do care for him. Like you’re his husband.” Riko whispered against his calf, smiling up at him. “It’s sweet.”
“Still on that, are we?” Geto grinned with a fond eye roll, getting comfortable. “If that’s how you see it, then I guess it’s true.”
“Knew it.” She closed her eyes, face relaxing into a peaceful expression. “I’m gonna miss this…”
“Yeah. Me too.” Geto spoke to sleeping bodies, staring up at the ceiling with a heavy smile.
Thanks for reading!

JJK Season 2 Ep. 17 - Yuuji's Mental Break: An Analysis
❗SPOILERS FOR THE MOST RECENT JJK EP.❗
To start, let's lay down some of the background that leads up to this pivotal moment:
Over the last couple of Episodes, the viewer has witnessed Sukuna take over Yuuji's body completely against his will. Sukuna starts by killing Nanako and Mimiko, the two young girls who had been raised by Getou. Both being merely 16 years old at the time of their death, are slaughtered at the hands of Sukuna - and by extension - Yuuji. Death #1 & #2
Tumblr media
Shortly after slicing and dicing the two girls, Sukuna moves on to an opponent he finds a bit more worthy of his time - Jogo. (Man, I hated that bitch) Once again, Sukuna chooses to inflict chaos, pain, and destruction by picking a fight with a disaster curse that is on the same power level of 8-9 of his fingers. Throughout the fight with Jogo, Yuuji is trapped inside as - the great calamity that is - Sukuna lays claim over a vast majority of Shibuya. Additionally, alongside Sukuna's devastation, Jogo is also setting the city ablaze, and all Yuuji is able to do is watch from inside his own body. There comes a moment in the middle of the fight that Jogo prepares his Maximum: Meteor Attack against Sukuna. While he's powering up, a group of sorcerers (2 of which Yuuji knows: Kusakabe & Panda) see the charge and begin to run away. However, just as they all are ready to leave, Sukuna steps onto the scene and freezes all of them in place. He holds them all hostage as the meteor detonates and begins rolling towards them. As it nears, Sukuna releases them at the last second; and thankfully, they all appear to escape. Eventually, Jogo is taken out as well. Once again, by the hands of Sukuna/Yuuji. Death #3.
Tumblr media
Not long after Jogo's death, Sukuna senses that something powerful has been summoned. Which leads him to the location of Megumi - thanks to Mahoraga. He finds the other student unconscious as Mahoraga deals with a foe in the near vicinity. Realizing what's happening, Sukuna takes matters into his own hands and saves the target of Mahoraga and heals Megumi because Sukuna "has plans for him." Sukuna then begins to attack Mahoraga under the assumption that if an outsider can take it out, Megumi will be fine. After quite a bit of trial and error, Sukuna finally manages to take down Mahoraga, but not without a blow of cataclysmic size.
Tumblr media
Thus bringing the death count to a number the audience can no longer tally. Following the incapacitation of Mahoraga, Sukuna returns to Megumi to deliver him over to the sorcerers to heal him. However, before leaving the area, Haruta runs into the domain radius and is killed. Death #4 (closely witnessed by Yuuji through Sukuna) After dropping Megumi off to Shoko for recovery, Sukuna walks out towards the edge of the radius of his catastrophe and turns the body back over to Yuuji.
Which brings us to the start of the analysis.
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's start with the very obvious events that related to Yuuji's mental/emotional break at the end of Ep. 18:
The Death of the Twins: These were the first two deaths Yuuji witnessed after Sukuna took over his body. It was likely the first few moments of shock he experienced as he realized what Sukuna would do and that he would be unable to reclaim his body for an unidentified amount of time. The Death of Jogo: This was likely another death that rocked Yuuji's world due to the possibility of mixed emotions regarding this character's death. Jogo was a curse. He was something Yuuji was actively learning to fight against and exorcise, but at the same time, Yuuji likely saw sentience and humanity in Jogo as well. The curse cried at the end and showed greater depths of thought and emotion than most of the other curses Yuuji has exorcised in the past. So, would Yuuji feel relief over Jogo's death, even by his hands? Or would he feel sorrow and guilt over the part he played in that eventual end? Sukuna's Domain Expansion: While the answer isn't explicit, it could be gleaned that Yuuji either knew exactly what happened inside the expansion or was, at least, aware of what took place within its radius. Therefore, adding countless, innocent deaths to be added onto the already crushing weight of 3 other deaths already notched into his belt.
Tumblr media
Now, let's take a look at some of the less noticeable moments that likely added to the already hopeless state of Yuuji:
The Structural Destruction of Shibuya: While buildings and street lamps don't hold the same weight as a human life, it can be assumed that the sheer amount of the city that was laid to waste likely took a toll on Yuuji's psyche. Being in the throes of the event that leveled the entire city could easily have added to the already withering stability of Yuuji's mind. Then, finally seeing it with his own two eyes at the end of it all would serve no purpose other than a chilling reminder of what his two hands accomplished in the name of Sukuna. Megumi: Anything and everything. This is his friend, dare I even say potentially a best friend. The next time he sees Megumi, the classmate is unconscious and had managed to summon Mahogara in exchange for his life. He could have died had it not been for Sukuna wanting to save him for other plans, but even then...which one was better? Dead or potentially to be taken into the hands of Sukuna? Both options were much less than ideal. On one hand, Megumi couldn't be used by Sukuna, but on the other hand, at least he would be alive. Which one would be better? This dilemma likely played through Yuuji's head as well as Sukuna decided to save the fellow sorcerer. Would there be relief for Megumi's life being preserved? Or dread over the reason why? Both? Directly Playing with People's Lives: Sukuna let Yuuji get up close and personal with the idea of toying with lives. Showing him that anyone and everyone can be under his command at any point in time and that Sukuna has the power to grant or deny the continuance of life. By freezing the handful of sorcerers as Jogo's Maximum: Meteor Attack was unleashed, Sukuna demonstrated the use of this power to all of the people surrounding him, but more likely, it was a display for Yuuji. This was likely used in a subtle way to screw with Yuuji even further and go so far as to say something along the lines of, "You want them to have normal deaths, but I have the capacity to decide anyone's fate." Haruta's Death: This was a single death that was entirely unspectacular in almost every way, but it meant something. After everything died down, Sukuna returned to the place he first saw Haruta and the blond man feared for his life, but Sukuna let him go. The psychological fuckery that happened with this death in regards to Yuuji's psyche had to be absolutely devastating. It appeared as if maybe one person was going to be let go, spared from Sukuna's sinister grasp. However, just as the audience believed that Haruta was safe, Yuuji likely did too. Therefore, when he walked into Sukuna's domain by accident and was killed instantly - there are high chances that both parties were just as shocked at the almost quiet death.

The Breaking Point:
The scene itself is handled magnificently. From Yuuji throwing up: (Showing disgust at what happened and with himself)
Tumblr media
To being prostrate and scraping his fingertips so harshly against the pavement that he bleeds: (All pride and sense of self-worth being lost. Being knelt over in a prostrate position is typically associated with asking for forgiveness or lowering oneself to a higher power [whether that be willingly or not]. The scraping of the hands shows the desperation, the hopelessness, and desire to try to grab onto anything to fix the damage done.)
Tumblr media
To tears and a blood-curdling scream: (This one seems to speak for itself)
Tumblr media
This scene hits every emotional point needed to evoke the pure hate, fear, devastation, hopelessness, and desperation Yuuji feels from this one event. Then, we as the audience get the audio cue to drive it all home. The opening SPECIALZ begins to play in the background as Yuuji screams and cries and Sukuna laughs in the distance. "You are my special" Is such a spine-chilling, sinister phrase to throw into a moment like this. Especially when undertoned by a song in a minor key with an eerie vibe to it. The way this was used in the scene was absolutely magnificent. As the song started, it sounded as if it was Sukuna speaking directly to Yuuji. Like an ominous presence that will always be there and that he has no hope of escape from, because - in this moment - he is "special." Additionally, for weeks, the audience has had a chance to learn and get to know this song and it's been the "opening" or the "beginning" of each episode since The Shibuya Incident began. Each time it's heard it's been a warning for the eventual chaos that was yet to come. So, playing the song as Yuuji is breaking down and the entire Incident is coming to a close feels like a giant:
😈WELCOME TO THE REAL JUJUTSU KAISEN😈

Closing Thoughts:
Overall, I believe this episode was beautifully handled. The acting (JP) was excellent, the emotional beats were hit spectacularly, the directing nailed some of the most pivotal moments in this arc, and of course, the animation was absolutely magnificent. I look forward to am terrified of the future of JJK. I've loved this show for a multitude of reasons, but strong design, story, acting, and directing choices have continued to keep me coming back for more. Maybe I'll write another analysis on JJK one day 😅 For now, thanks for reading!💙

hi, have you heard the rumor that apparently a leaker revealed that mappa permanently shelved ice adolescence? i've seen that someone made a petition for mappa to say something about the movie but honestly i really don't think that's going to do anything :( it kinda makes me wanna cry thinking about how or why the franchise ended up this way, it was HUGE and everyone was so excited for the movie and i just know mappa could still make tons of money if they'd ever release it. i'll never stop loving yuri on ice and its fandom but i just can't help but think it deserved so much better.
I have not seen it and I do not usually believe leaked info like that but it feels believable. We're already in the middle of the year. I really don't believe there's a production going on. My common sense tells me that if there were any type of production we would get some type of promotion; posters, merchandise, VA projects, etc. something major is going on/went on in production that's for sure. It's difficult to understand why such a money making IP would do radio silence like this, to the point hey can't even put together a short manga like in welcome to the madness, or do another Sanrio collab, CD drama? anime café? the fact that we're not getting even those says to me this is canned.
As to why the entirety of YOI seems to be canned and not just Iceado I seriously have no idea, I cannot understand this decision other than this is something to do with it's creators. It would be one thing if yoi ended and that was it, story was over, but to go as far as to say "see you next level" and announce a movie, it's fair to say they had plans for yoi beyond the original 12 eps. YOI was highly successful, best selling anime of 2017, best selling blue ray discs in 2018, bunch of awards, It trended #1 on Tumblr and twitter every Wednesday, when was the last time we've seen something like that happen with other anime? only the biggest of the biggest trend with every episode (aot, jjk, demon slayer, etc) and yoi was pulling those numbers. I stand on my theory that if it were up to Mappa we would be on Yuri on ice season 3 with 2 movies and OVAS by now (7 years later) but this is something to do with Kubo, Sayo and the production team. perhaps they don't want to continue with this project, perhaps they got burnout. But I wanna make a point that I made in the essay I posted some time ago about my suspicions on what happened to YOI. The fact that Yoi was a big money making IP does not guarantee fast input of related media. look at Hideki Anno with EVA: 3.0+1.0, It's a Huge, popular property that makes a lot of money worldwide and still it took 9 years for the final movie to come out! Hideki experienced severe burnout, people who worked closely to him left the production and the whole experience severely delayed the project (this is what I've found on my research) People thought the last EVA movie was canned as well, and this was purely on the basis of the creator because the numbers were there, so the fact that it's taken this long for new YOI content does not mean it's canned forever, but it does appear that the project is in indefinite hold. I, myself am finding peace with this. I've accepted that the project is on hold perhaps forever, perhaps not. But I'm trying to find closure however I can. I do hope we get some kind of announcement though, I do find it kinda impolite to leave the fans in the dark like this.
sorry for the long reply

9 people you'd like to get to know better
three ships: feylin (always), but also neslin has very recently been on my mind (something about two characters done dirty by the author having their happily ever after way from all their stressors just rings right). and rhysta, bc the best ships are the ones where they can't tell if they love or hate each other. (honorable mention to twiyor bc i've been so obsessed with them and spyxfamily recently).
first ever ship: ooo idk i think it was harry/hermione! i don't ship them now (the only ships in the hp universe that make me feel some kind of way are blinny and the very rare pair of charlie/fleur oddly enough) but harmione (?) were my first as far as my memory serves right
last song: sweet venom by enhyphen (for the rhysta vibes ofc)
last film: suzume by makoto shinkai
currently reading: a promise of fire by amanda bouche (literally just started this one so i have no opinions yet), spyxfamily (rereading bc the anime brought back my love for the manga <3) and acomaf (perpetually reading this one T T)
currently watching: jjk + spyxfamily (eventually i'll go back to hotd)
currently consuming: anime for some reason? and lots of it? i think bc my work schedule is so busy rn and anime eps are like 25 mins long, its just easier to consume in the little bursts of time i have to myself
currently craving: feylin content (always) + twiyor content

mr. villain's day off / kyuujitsu no warumono-san
it's kinda in that space of sentai-inspired stuff like love after world domination (without the romantic parts as far as i can tell) or miss kuroitsu from the monster development department... mixed with a little bit of too cute crisis, but pretty hard focused (as of ep 1) on the guy mostly just chilling (while internally sometimes raging), holding his day off sacred. so he's more relatable than that liza for sure. not sure if there will be any fight scenes but there sure werent in this episode.
going by most things about it i think gf should hate this show, but something about it tells me she might not. in general so far..
Tumblr media
oh look! here warumono is experiencing one of the "little despairs" nanami talks about in jjk episode 9. (gf loved that dialogue. called it poetry.)

i can get way more annoying with the screenshots lol but i'll make this the last one:

👆he has a good reason to say that, context under the cut if you wanna guess or whatever

I have to rant
So I watched the ep 9 of jjk , even though it was probably one of the best episodes of season 2 , I couldn't connect with it , I didn't feel anything when gojo got sealed although it's probably because of ch 236 .
First of all , today's episode reminded me of when jjk was actually following the plot , we knew how much gojo cared about geto and their history and it made sense that kenjaku succeeded in sealing gojo because of that . Ever since the culling games started , so many things have been happening yet nothing really happens. I have read so many theories whether gege decided to change the course of the story after people started loosing interest during culling games and that's why he brought gojo back , which is fine cause even that made more sense than whatever gege pulled in chapter 236 . From the beginning of the story , we have followed one thing only that is "gojo satoru is the strongest" , how his birth changed the balance of the world , how he's able to use limitless and rct , like he is The Strongest person in the jjk world who everyone fears , the higher ups , the curses, even a hundreds of years old curse and then he looses in the fight against sukuna in 1 chapter when he was clearly standing with his technique back to normal in just the last one , sukuna wasn't able to stand properly yet somehow gojo isn't sure whether he'll win against sukuna without 10 shadows , like make it make sense , the whole plot since the beginning has been kenjaku using geto's body against gojo , but sukuna is the one gojo loses to ???
Don't even get me started on the whole I wanted to reach him , like brother you had sukuna begging mahorga to save him 😭
All the discourse about gojo being out of the equation for story to progress is so annoying to me , I don't care if I sound delusional or whatever but I fully believe he's coming back , if yuji is the one to defeat sukuna or kill himself with sukuna what with him being a vessel and all , then what about kenjaku ?
I feel I'm loosing my mind ,like I need somebody to be delusional with me and be like gojo is alive

JJK EP 9 SPOILERS
Cant get over how soft the part where Gojo thinks it's Geto greeting him is the music is beautifully hopeful Kenjaku even sounds like he tried to soften his voice when greeting Gojo. The internal dialogue of Gojo trying to reason with what he's seeing the "its him" absolutely devestating we really see into Gojos mind everything conveyed how happy he is to see his one and only again only to have it all ripped away in a single minute I'm so upset
