I’d love to build out the scenario where reader was banned from doing stunts, like maybe her team dropped her on the pyramid or she landed wrong somehow and got hurt? (And ofc our baby boy Lucas taking care of us like a mother hen after)

The game was cancelled.

Not like it could keep going after the star player suddenly ran off the field, still holding the ball.

Why?

Because you twisted your ankle coming down from the cheer team's pyramid.

Now, Lucas pouted like a scolded puppy while his coach tore him a new one in the nurse's office. You sighed as the man continued to scream and rant about the game they were just about to win. If anything, you appreciated the fact that he didn't blame you for the whole situation.

"And as for you!" Coach Jude growled, turning towards you. "I don't want to ever see you more than 2 feet off the ground! Do you hear me?!"

"Yes, Coach," you grumbled. Looks like you spoke too soon. The angry man glared at the both of you before stomping away to look for someone else to scream at. Lucas glanced at you guiltily.

"Sorry, honeybun," he mumbled softly. "I just panicked when I saw you fall..."

You just sighed and patted the bed. "Come on then."

Lucas perked up, "R-really? You're not going to scold me?"

"I think Coach has done enough of that already, come here baby."

He wasted no time in joining you on the tiny cot, trying not to squish you but beaming from ear to ear. "I could have caught you, you know, if I ran a bit faster-"

"Like hell, you would have," I scoff. "Next time just keep your eyes on the ball, okay?" He nodded eagerly and hugged you closer, smiling happily although he was half-hanging off the bed.

The nurse wasn't too happy when she found you like that and chased Lucas away from the office. "That boy of yours is a handful, huh?" she teased you, mildly exasperated.

You chuckle and fondly look over at where Lucas is trying to peep in through the window. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
