3 years ago today Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog was released on DVD!!!
This was the crossover of my dream!!! I loved every second of it!!! Especially the ending when Muriel give one last riddle to Scooby & Courage & give Courage a hug brought me to tears!!! It was like the last hug with her OG VA RIP Thea white!!!🥹🥹🥹
I see this cat’s got “unique” tastes. In all honesty I’m glad Dillworth decided to go create Courage The Cowardly Dog rather then get this greenlit. Though he could still make this into a series if he wants. Just tone down the mooning or at least censor it.
School is hell and makes it hard to work on the things you love, like Earth-One.
Apologies for the distraction, but I'm back. Our fourth character reveal:
Oh my! It's Muriel Bagge!
I was really happy with how Muriel turned out. But hands down the best decision was to show bits of her eyes behind her glasses. I had originally planned to keep the glasses opaque like in the show, but the eyes add a lot to the warmth and personality of the character. It's what ended up convincing me to do it for Eustace as well, and I'm just as surprised that it worked there too!
Art by me, Muriel owned by CN, created by John R. Dilworth.
Directed (and animated by alongside Norton Virgien) by John R. Dilworth for Stretch Films, Inc and MTV Animation.
Note: According to Dilworth himself, MTV Animation insisted him to work for their company, as they wanted the series to be done by them, he didn’t want to be a mere employee in a studio so the pilot was just that.
