My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

In 2001 I was commissioned by the Creswell Crags Visitor Centre to create a series of paintings illustrating the gorge at different times in the past. These pictures look pretty rudimentary now (I was still learning to paint) but I loved this project so much! Visiting the caves and reconstructing these scenes confirmed to me that this was how I wanted to make my living.

Here are the two pictures from 12,000 years ago...

That fandom you're in because you're madly in love with a character but can't write about because you're embarrassed you'll mess up the lore is awesome, i have to admit

But i also really love the fandom where everyone is chill because it's really not all that well known and most people who are a part of it are chill, older teenagers who enjoy the content and don't make a big deal out of everything and the lore depends partially on you and your decisions, so you feel as though you can make a story and a character that takes part in that world and doesn't twist anything.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, i felt as though I had to share it in some way.

Jessie Maple, a bacteriologist who took up filmmaking in the 1970s, became the first Black woman to join the camera operators union in New York and went on to direct trailblazing independent films. Maple turned first to journalism and then to film, working as a camera operator and a documentarian before releasing her first feature, “Will” (1981), a family drama that she made for less than $12,000. Jessie Maple passed away at her home on 30 May 2023, in Atlanta. She was 86.
