Hi, can i send you a request for Jonah Hauer King please?
So basically it takes Jonah so long to be able to call the reader his girl because she's so shy, and when he finally gets her, he's really happy.
He's very gentle and soft towards her, there will be lots of cuddles, cuddling from behind, and shy kisses, lots of neck kissing and lip kissing, but it's all really shy, and he wants to make her comfortable so he takes things very slow and always reassures her, and let's her know what his next move towards her is going to be
Tumblr media
Pairings: Jonah x costar!reader. A friends to lovers trope.
A/N: This was way longer than neccesary but I felt the need to make up for not posting in forever. More fics coming soon.
BACKGROUND(About 2 years ago for reference):
When you and Jonah first met you were extremely shy and a nervous wreck yet he thought you were the most adorable girl on earth. You were extremely introverted and only spoke when spoken to. Jonah always made an effort to include you in conversation and help you through interviews, red carpets, and other uncomfortable social settings.
PRESENT:
You were sitting in your trailer getting your makeup done for the premiere when Jonah knocked on your door. You had no idea who could’ve wanted to speak to you but you said ‘come in’ anyway.
“Hi,” Jonah said softly smiling at you warmly.
“Hi Jonah,” you said in your staple soft-spoken voice.
“I just wanted to stop by and let you know what to expect. There’s going to be lots of cameras, people and questions. I know that’s not exactly your favorite setting so I just wanted to let you know that if you feel uncomfortable at any point, just come find me."
“Thank you Jonah,” you smiled in appreciation before he excused himself so that you could finish getting ready.
TIME SKIP:
You were walking the red carpet, several cameras pointed at you and multiple voices screaming your name. The bright flashes of the camera began to quickly overwhelm you and you looked around desperately for any familiar face. And then you saw him, Jonah Hauer King, the one man who could ease your nerves.
The moment the two of you made eye contact he could tell that you were uncomfortable. He quickly walked towards you and whispered in your ear, “I’m going to put my arm around your waist. Is that okay?"
You simply nodded and felt the heat rise in your cheeks and ears when he snaked his arm around your waist. The two of you smiled for the pictures and Jonah gently squeezed your waist in reassurance, calming your nerves and making you nervous at the same time.
Throughout the premiere, you caught yourself clinging to Jonah any way you could. He didn’t mind of course but you still felt a little embarrased at how socially awkward you were.
“Sorry for clinging to you like this,” you began to apologize but Jonah quickly cut you off.
“Don’t be sorry darling. I always want you to be comfortable. You don’t have to be nervous around me. I’m never going to judge you, for anything, i promise,” he said gazing into your eyes with genuine admiration.
TIME SKIP
Now you were at the after party that you honestly didn’t want to go to. The only reason you went was in hopes of being able to spend time with Jonah. You were still shy yet you felt comfortable around him.
You desperately searched the party for your favorite london boy and sighed in relief when you felt a familiar hand resting on your shoulder. You turned around to look at him and smiled.
“I didn’t expect to see you here,” he said returning your smile.
“Well I just wanted to step out of my comfort zone a little bit,” you insisted.
“That’s not very in your comfort zone,” he teased lightheartedly and you smiled and laughed. “Well I’m glad you’re here,” he smiled.
“Me too,” you said truthfully.
“I actually wanted to ask you something. It’s kind of personal and if you don’t answer it’s okay,” he said and you simply nodded. “You’re a really beautiful girl Y/N and you’re so adorable, and I really want to ask you out,"
You felt your cheeks heat up and stared at him blankly for a few seconds.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” he asked hopefully and you nodded again, too nervous to say anything. “I’m going to hug you if that’s okay,” he said looking at you for permission before doing anything.
“That’s okay,” you whispered and he gently wrapped his arms around you in a warm hug that melted your heart.
3 MONTHS LATER
You and Jonah had been together for 6 months now and while you were more comfortable than before you were still slightly shy and unsure of what to do at times.
You were currently standing in front of Jonah’s front door. Trying to decide whether to knock or not. Gathering your nerves you quickly knocked on his door before you could overthink it any longer.
You nervously fiddled with your hands and thought about walking away for a second but Jonah opened the door before you could.
“Hi love,” he said in an excited yet confused tone. “What are you doing here?"
“Sorry, I know this is really random but I missed you and you told me I was welcome anytime so I decided to stop by but I can totally leave if you want,” you rambled and Jonah quickly covered your mouth with his finger and widened the door so that you could step in.
“Come inside,” he laughed at your nervousness and you hesitantly stepped inside and he closed the door behind you. He kissed your cheek knowing that it made you flustered but he thought it was adorable.
“Do you wanna watch a movie?” he offered gently rubbing his hands up and down the sides of your arms.
“Yea sure,” you smiled.
MINI TIME SKIP
You and Jonah were sitting on the couch relazing and enjoying each others company. You weren’t sitting super far apart but you weren’t sitting close either.
“Is it okay of I sit closer?” he asked cautiously.
“Yeah, that’s okay,” you assured him and he scooted closer to you.
“Is it okay if i rest my hand right here,” he asked carefully hovering his hand over your thigh and you nodded in response. “Is it okay if I kiss you?” he asked and you nodded again. He gently cupped your face and gently leaned in before giving you a soft peck.
“You ask a lot of questions,” you teased playfully.
“I just want you to be comfortable darling,” he said and poked you in the sides causing you to giggle.
“I’m always comfortable with you,” you said truthfully and that made him smile.
“In that case, is it okay if I hold you?” he asked and you nodded. He gestured for you to lie on your side and he wrapped his arms around you and nuzzled his face into your neck.
“Is it okay if I kiss you here?” he asked and once he had your consent he placed a gentle kiss on your neck, and another, and another.
THE NEXT MORNING
You were in the kitchen making some breakfast for you and Jonah when you suddenly felt hands snake around your waist and gentle kisses against your neck causing you to smile.
“Morning darling,” Jonah whispered and the feeling of his breath against your ear slightly tickled causing you to giggle.
“Good morning Jonah,” you smiled and he placed another kiss to your neck.
You finished making breakfast and fixed a plate for you and Jonah and the two of you sat down on the couch and ate. You quickly reached over and grabbed a piece of bacon from Jonah’s plate.
“Heyyy,” he gasped in mock offense. “You’re going to pay for that,” he said as he placed the both of your plates on the coffee table. Once the plates were out of the way he reached over and tickled you until you almost cried.
“Say you’re sorry,” he told you and tickled you again.
“Never,” you shot back and he gently pinned your arms above your head with one hand and tickled you with the other. “Stopppp,” you said breathlessly though laughter.
“Are you sorry?” he asked poking your sides playfully.
“Yes I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” you apologized and he smiled and let go of your arms and flopped down ontop of you. He began planting kisses all over your face earning several laughs from you. He quickly pecked your lips over and over again and you smiled at how adorable he was.
“I love you, Y/N” he said quietly. “And you don’t have to say it back if you’re not ready-"
“I love you too Jonah,” you said, and for the first time ever you kissed him without him iniating it first.

Jonah followed you from the restaurant to your apartment. He couldn't remember the last time he was this nervous about a romantic conquest, or the last time he'd gone to anyone else's house. Normally it came naturally to him, but with you he questioned all of his actions. He didn't want to screw this up, and your apartment was a neutral ground. You might feel overwhelmed in his home. He also didn't want to treat you like you were just another lay. Could Jonah keep his hands to himself during the movie? You said that your roommate Vanessa was gone for the weekend, so he knew the two of you would have the place to yourselves. The possibilities were endless, but he would have to let you make the first move. He swore he would never pressure you to be physical with him, and he had meant it wholeheartedly.
After you pulled into the parking lot in front of your building, Jonah took a deep breath, and switched his car off to accompany you inside. You gave him a sultry sweet smile as the two of you stepped up to your door. You fished your keys out from your purse and clumsily unlocked the deadbolt. Jonah could tell you were nervous as well.
Once he stepped inside, you put your bag and keys down on a table by the door. Jonah observed the small living space with a blue couch and a tv stand with illuminating lights behind it. It was cute and cozy.
"Well, this is our humble abode," you laughed awkwardly. "I'm going to get these shoes off and then we can pick a movie on the couch. Vanessa and I also keep the pantry stocked with snacks," you smiled.
"Okay," Jonah nodded.
You moved to walk past him to your room, and Jonah caught your wrist. When you stilled, he looped his arms around your waist, and touched his forehead to yours.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm nervous, too. I promise to keep my hands to myself unless I'm given explicit instructions otherwise," he spoke softly.
You felt your cheeks warming up.
"Okay," you breathed.
You looked down at Jonah's lips. You could kiss him right then and there, but you decided to restrain yourself. It would be much more fun to play with him. Jonah released you, and you pulled away to go to your room. You shut the door and peeled your shoes off as Jonah took a seat on the couch. This would be fun.
Opening up your door a couple minutes later, you strolled into the living room in your small cami and shorts set. You'd taken the liberty of going braless. You walked straight past Jonah's tuft of curls on the couch to the pantry in your kitchen.
"What snacks would you like?"
You examined the contents of the pantry. You felt Jonah's eyes glued to you. There was a beat of silence.
"Um, I dunno. Chips? Candy?"
You nodded.
"Okay, that can be arranged," you replied cheekily.
Piling your arms full with snacks, you set them down on the coffee table in front of the couch. You bent over to give Jonah a nice view of your rear.
"(Y/N)," he warned in a low voice. "I don't react kindly to teasing."
You fixed him with a befuddled look.
"I'm not sure what you mean," you scrunched your brow, scooting beside him to take a seat.
"Did you pick a movie yet?"
You acted completely oblivious. Jonah eyed you for a moment before answering.
"No, I wasn't sure what you were in the mood for."
"Horror?" You suggested. "Or comedy? Let's do comedy," you nodded, popping a chip in your mouth.
Jonah forced his gaze back to the tv, and the two of you settled on a movie after a few minutes. The opening scene of this movie cracked you up, and you let out an open, hearty laugh. Jonah looked to you with a smirk. As the movie continued, you moved closer and closer to Jonah. He was sitting stock still with one hand on an armrest and the other settled on his knee, as if to brace himself. You snuggled up to his shoulder, laying your head down. Jonah turned his head slightly to inhale the scent of your hair. He closed his eyes at the lovely smell.
You began to fidget, getting uneasy. You wanted to make a move on Jonah, but you weren't quite sure how. You eventually settled your hand on his thigh, and you didn't miss Jonah's sharp inhale. You pretended to be paying attention to the movie as your hand crept further and further up his leg. Jonah's hand moved from his knee to settle on yours at your latest inch upward.
"That's enough, unless you want to start something I'll have to finish," he whispered, but you heard him loud and clear.
You raised your head up to examine his profile, resting your chin on his shoulder.
"What if I do want to finish?" You teased.
Jonah's lips twitched, but his eyes didn't move from the television. Frustrated that he wasn't looking at you, you boldly sat up, and pushed past his arm to straddle his lap. It wasn't until you were nose to nose with him that you noticed Jonah's deep breathing.
"I want you to do what you said you would on the phone. You're a man of your word, aren't you?"
You watched Jonah's pupils dilate, and instantaneously his hands tangled in your hair, and he crushed his mouth to yours. The kiss was passionate and urgent. You tried to keep up with him, but he set a brutal pace. Jonah used his thumbs to coax your mouth open, and slipped his tongue in to explore every crevice of your mouth. You kissed him back with fervor, and began rolling your hips over his growing bulge at the apex of your thighs.
Jonah suddenly pulled away, breaking the kiss. Your mouth chased his.
"Can we move to your bed? I want to lay you down properly."
You nodded and stood, grabbing Jonah's hand to lead him to your bedroom. You closed the door behind him, even though you were alone. You had a feeling things would get loud. When you turned around, Jonah stood by your bed expectantly. You caught your first real glimpse of his tented trousers, and your mouth watered at the sight.
"Lay down," Jonah instructed you.
You gulped and nodded, stepping towards the bed. You halted before you put your knee up on it, turning to face Jonah. Your eyes held his as you pulled your cami over your head, and bent down to drop your shorts. You were completely bare underneath, and now fully exposed to him. Jonah took a shaky breath, but didn't look down just yet. Instead, he spoke again, more firmly this time.
"Lay down."
You climbed up onto the bed then, laying on your back, and looking up at him. Jonah didn't move to strip any of his clothes off. You pouted, until you saw him lowering himself down onto his knees. You licked your lips in anticipation.
"I told you I don't like to be teased. You know what happens now? I make you cum as many times as I want on my tongue. You'll be begging me to stop before I do."
You swallowed again at his threat and the dark look in his eyes.
"Prove it," you challenged him.
You knew you'd probably regret it, but you were slick with desire at the moment, and you couldn't bring yourself to care. The corner of his lips lifted, and Jonah lowered his face down to your mound. He took a long, deep inhalation of your smell. The sight turned you on and made you self conscious at the same time.
"Someone's ready for me," he growled before he grabbed your legs and stuffed his face into your folds.
Jonah wasn't lying. He worked you to your peak 5 times, and quickly at that. It was almost one after the other. You'd never experienced such bliss like this. Your thighs were shaking by your last orgasm, and you felt extremely sensitive to the touch. You tried to scoot back from Jonah's mouth, but he had your legs secured. He showed mercy, however, and lifted his face to look at you. Seeing it coated in your juices was almost too much for you to handle. You groaned.
"Had enough, princess?"
You nodded, looking back down at him with hope in your eyes.
"Alright, I'll go easy on you this time, but this is a lesson. Remember that," he urged you as he stood beside the bed.
Removing his baby blue button down shirt that complimented his eyes and pushing down his khakis, you whined at the sight of him. He'd already ruined you, yet you wanted so much more. You didn't know if you could get enough, in fact. Jonah chuckled.
"Like what you see?"
You nodded with a heaving chest, taking in his defined abs and muscular shoulders. You bit your lip as he slid his briefs down, kicking them to the floor. You gasped at the sight. Jonah immediately caged you in on the bed, consuming your senses.
"Do you know I've been dreaming of this since I met you, (Y/N)? Are you ready? It's going to be fast and hard. Then I'll take my time with you," he pushed your hair from your face as you nodded.
Jonah kissed you, lining himself up at your entrance. He began pushing himself in. You moaned into the kiss. After 3 pushes, Jonah fully entered you. Your eyes and mouth opened in tandem at the sensation of being utterly and completely full. Jonah comforted you by peppering kisses around your mouth.
"Look how well you're taking me, love. It's like you were made for me," Jonah chanted.
You nodded, squeezing your eyes shut as he moved.
"Can you look at me, sweetheart? I want to see your eyes," he urged you.
You stilled, forcing your eyes back open. Jonah pressed his forehead to yours.
"Yes, just like this," he praised. "You're too beautiful to hide your expressions from me."
He kissed you again, and began rutting into you. You broke from the kiss, but kept your eyes locked on his. You didn't think you could look away if you tried. Pleasure shot through you at his every move, and you were catapulted to your next peak. You came undone around him, and the sensation had Jonah grunting and his hips faltering. You felt him finish inside you, and you swallowed his moans with another harsh kiss. After the two of you rode out your highs, your chests heaved in time for oxygen. You wove your fingers though his curls until your breathing slowed.
"That was bloody brilliant," Jonah commented.
Your grin was so big it hurt your cheeks.
"Yes, it was," you agreed. "Can we do it again?"

Two hours later, you laid curled into Jonah's side. Your head was on his shoulder as he ran his fingers through your hair. You sighed contentedly.
"Hey, I was thinking..." He trailed off.
You looked up at him curiously.
"What?
"You should come to my swim meet this weekend," Jonah smiled down at you.
You quirked your brow.
"Oh? You want to go public with this already? I can't imagine all of the women on campus that'll be coming for my head," you laughed.
"Listen, I know I have a bit of notoriety at school, but I want everyone to know that I'm seeing you," Jonah caressed your cheek.
"If you're not too embarrassed of me," he added.
"Of course not," you smiled. "I think you're wonderful. In fact, I've been disappointed that I haven't found much about you that I don't like."
Jonah's hand settled on your cheek, and his eyes took on a more serious tone.
"I have to be honest with you, (Y/N). I would rather you hear it from me...," he started.
"Tell me," you urged him. "Whatever it is, honesty is the best policy."
Jonah took a deep breath.
"I started talking to you because my mate Max made a bet with me. He wanted me to pursue a woman on campus that seemed completely unattainable for at least two weeks, then he said he'd stop pressuring me to go out with more women. I thought you should know."
Jonah held his breath after his confession. You practically snorted.
"Yeah, I figured it was some kind of stupid bet. Max was incredibly entertained the first day you approached me, and you kept coming every day, so I figured something was up," you smiled.
"So you're not mad or hurt by that?" Jonah's brow creased.
You shrugged.
"No, it doesn't bother me. If that hadn't happened, I don't know if we ever would have crossed paths. Everyone meets as a result of all of these improbable circumstances. We're no different," you concluded.
Jonah sighed, turning his face up to the ceiling.
"Ugh, you're brilliant," he grimaced. "I knew you had to be much smarter than me. But let's see if you can still speak in complete sentences after I make you cum on my cock again," Jonah rolled over on top of you.
You burst into a fit of giggles that turned into moans and gasps as he kissed down your neck and chest. Jonah pushed himself past your entrance again, and you accommodated his size with a small touch of soreness.

Jonah checked his phone to find that it was past midnight, and that he had two messages.
Max 🤭
5:50 p.m.
BRO!!! Tell me how it goes
Mum
11:16 p.m.
Are you okay, dear? I didn't see you at home earlier. Don't forget your father is getting in later tonight.
Jonah shot up reading his mother's text. You mumbled sleepily from your side of the bed.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yes, love. I'm sorry, I forgot that my dad said he might get to come home early. And by early, he meant tonight. My mum says he'll be in soon. I hate to leave you after-,"
"Go," you gave Jonah a sure smile with your head propped up on your palm.
"Don't worry about me. You wore me out. I intend to sleep," you chuckled.
"Go see your dad."
Jonah smiled, more to himself than to you. How did he get so lucky that the woman Max chose at random turned out to be inherently perfect? Jonah set his phone down, grabbing your face with both of his hands to kiss you sweetly on the lips.
"Thank you," he kissed your forehead before hopping out of bed to get dressed.
You watched him pull his pants and shirt back on. He radiated masculine energy, and you needed him to leave if he didn't want you to drag him back into bed. You rose when he found his shoes, wrapping a small blanket around you to walk him to the door. Jonah held your hand on your short trip there. He then turned to kiss you once more before leaving.
"I'll see you soon, princess," he smiled.
"Not soon enough," you replied.
Jonah's forehead connected with yours again. You were quickly learning that this was his way of showing affection. He breathed in your heavenly scent one last time. He reluctantly left, and you locked the door behind him. You ran back to bed, jumping into it with a squeal of excitement. You'd just had a night of passion with Jonah, and you couldn't be happier, or more satisfied. You could hardly believe your luck.
⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱ⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱᐧ.˳˳.⋅⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱ⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱᐧ.˳˳.⋅
Jonah kept checking his rearview mirror the whole drive home, as if your building would still be there when he looked. He wasn't lying. He hated leaving you after the two of you had been so intimate with each other, but he had to see his dad. He admittedly needed to clean himself up first.
Pulling up at home, Jonah didn't see his father's car yet, but he ran inside. He headed straight for his room to shower and brush his teeth. Jonah didn't even want to kiss his mother on the cheek with the dirty mouth he'd used for other things tonight. Stepping out smelling fresh, Jonah quickly pulled a t shirt and shorts on. There was a knock at his door.
"Come in," he called out.
Jonah's mom entered the room, still in her scrubs.
"There you are, darling. Where have you been?"
Jonah smiled, coming to hug his mother.
"I was with a friend, mum. When is dad getting in?"
She hugged him back.
"Any minute now."
She pulled back, examining Jonah at arms length.
"My, you look happy. What kind of friend did you say you were with?"
"My new girlfriend, I hope," Jonah answered honestly.
His mother smiled.
"Well, you'll have to bring her over to meet us."

༝ ˚ ༝ My Lady is the Sea 。 ˚ ༝ - Prince Eric x Fem!Reader | NSFW
Tumblr media
𖠳 ᐝ warnings: brief smut, 18+ (minors dni), unprotected sex & cursing
Sea salt tickles your nostrils as you step out onto the wooden dock. Nose twitching like a bunny to rid the salty air from your sensitive nerves. You glide forward only a few feet, and your left shin knocks into a wooden pole. A barricade lined the perimeter of the landing. Fencing that stops you from falling into the unknown below. An oil lantern illuminates a portion of the dock and the gradually darkening surface of the deep. The expansive waters lurk just beyond the fading arc of light. Your body gently sways with the sounds of the waves stirring.
Instinctively, you flex your hold on a roped handle. A heavy, disgusting mixture of beer and spit sloshes in the bucket that you have been entrusted to dump out. Polluting the ocean, you think. An unfortunately common attribute of living in a coastal town. It's second nature to dump and forget. Water appears to be along every horizon you look to. It surrounds you, yet it's ever-moving. Continuous. Traveling away.
How you wish you could be out there now. Just like your father had moons ago. Oh, the precious things he gifted you with when he returned to the marina! The carefully selected treasures. He always seemed to know which new object would earn an excited squeal from you because of its sparkles or funky shape. Whispers at bedtime of now fictitious-sounding tales on how he acquired them. To you, his trips were like storybooks. Too embarrassing to admit, you used to go to sleep late into your teens with visions of exploration dancing in your head. Dreaming of the uncharted waters and cloudy faces of the friends you'd make. He'd promise to you, that you would soon be old enough to explore the world with him.
But you couldn't truly treasure the last retelling of his adventures because no one foresaw he would leave it on a cliffhanger. He never came back. Your mother forbade you from speaking of his expeditions as time passed. "Don't go towards the beyond." "This is your home." "You're safe here." she chided. Here, on land. The hope soon ended with the stories. You grew accustomed to the familiar. You were raised here. It's all you have known. Is it worth it to leave at this point?
However, there are instances when you fall back into childlike wonder. In the quiet lulls, similar to the brink of falling asleep, you can't help but contemplate what else the waters hold past their horizons.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
A faint, muffled tune begins inside and wafts out into the silence. The merry-sounding song envelops you. You blink out of the reverie to adjust your vision in the darkness.
You can hear the pub's piano, in desperate need of a tuning, as you push open the door. A gaggle of men are singing a sea shanty in the dining space. They look disheveled but have dancing smiles. You can't help grinning as you watch these men celebrate life.
“Just docked," Gwen, your co-worker, calls from over her shoulder. She fills up two cups and then slides them over the bar top towards one of the waiting men. He slaps a few coins down and moves back to the crowd, like rejoining a school of fish.
Gwen wipes up the liquid he left, “I heard one of them holler that they came in from the Carribean.”
“I feel like that's only the third ship from around there this season."
"How do you manage to even keep track? There have to have been hundreds of vessels that have passed through here."
You blushingly shrug at her knowing smirk. Teasingly, her fingers reach out to flick at your slightly tarnished necklace. A chain made from Spanish silver with a locket bearing some type of ruby gem.
Leonardo was the one who had graced you with this last year. He was a buccaneer. He and his crew docked in town for a fortnight. He was charming and proud. In the tavern, he was always drunkenly boasting about the treasures he had found. The people he'd fought. The Lords he'd impressed. The people he'd fucked. He was so fun.
When your birthday happened around the time he was in town, he came stumbling into the bar with this necklace. He said it was nothing and that he had dozens of more valuable findings in a chest on board his ship. But he never showed you to prove that to be true. However, you did thank him ever so graciously that night.
He sailed out a day later. No harbor was his home. You're used to this life working as a bartender in a popular trading port. You see hundreds of thousands of faces. All of these handsome men ranged from sailors to buccaneers. They all share with you the amazing stories of their lives. They fascinated you. Inspired you. Seduced you. - You can't help but be attracted to the rugged, good-looking, and ambitious type.
A man unexpectedly calls out from the crowd towards the pair of you. His voice grabs your attention like a Siren's song. There were too many bodies to place where it was coming from in the mass of people, but you swear you briefly saw a hand in the air on the left side of the room.
“My lovely bar maidens, a round of your finest ale, please, yeah?"
“Right away, sir,” you nod curtly while pivoting obediently to fill the dregs.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
The rosy-cheeked, rowdy men cheer even louder as you approach with their fifth round of booze. Their attention has been won, not by the promise of refreshments, but by the beer sloshing over the rims and onto the pair of bouncing breasts carrying it all.
Low whistles scatter around the table at your cleavage while you lean over to set down the ale. Mucky hands grabbing for the foaming tankards. You catch a handsome man staring through the limbs. He gives you a dimpled smirk. His eyes betray him as they glimpse down to what you can assume is your chest. Well, he's no better than any man.
Your retreating form hears the same voice from before exclaim, “Here is to another voyage through uncharted waters! I am grateful for all your hard work, boys. And thanks to Grimsby for laying off the scolding because we're three days past schedule."
You're back at the bar. A crewmate, with a red kerchief pushing back his straw-yellow hair, heaves an overfilled mug in the air toward the handsome man,
"And a special thanks to our Captain, whose mother would keel over from learning the adventures her dear boy has taken us on. Prince Eric!"
"Prince Eric," they unanimously cheer!
Together, as they collide their drinks, fat drops of the golden liquid splash onto Prince Eric's tunic and wet his chest. The strings of his shirt are untied. Making the neck loosely hang open with his chest hair on full display. Your eyes are drawn to it. Tracing the outline of his defined pecs through the thin fabric. You're no better than a man. Worst yet, he notices you staring. His stare seems to darken, and he motions his mug towards you as a 'cheers' gesture before returning focus to his companions.
Clearing your throat and dirty mind, you turn back to tend to one of your regulars, a local fisherman slumped over on a stool at the end of the bar.

Eric strides over as you scrub up the beer rings on the bar, left by the patrons who previously occupied the empty stools. He fluidly pulls one out to sit and drums his fingers along the wood. Blue eyes staring you down for a third time tonight,
"Can I get you anything?”
“I think I should take a breather. My crew is too enthusiastic to get me drunk.”
“Sounds like you're having a bad night." He threw back his head and let out a loud laugh. Admittedly, it was too big of a reaction to that poor joke attempt. You wring out your rag into a nearby bucket to hide your smile.
You wait for a beat before sparing him another glimpse. He’s staring at your chest again. You feel the exposed skin warm under his look. You’re tempted to peek down to see how much this corset is causing you to spill out.
“Did you get it locally?
“Sorry?”
"The necklace," he half-gestures towards you.
You clasp at the pendant, "Oh, this."
He nods with his eyes fixed on your chest a moment longer before moving up to your face. His cheeks are flushed and eyes hooded, assumedly, from the pints he and his crew have slung back. You're moving toward him, holding out the chain to let him get a closer look.
“I think it’s from the Spanish Islands. A pirate passing through last season gave it to me.”
His large hand reaches out to replace yours. “It’s beautiful. I have an eye for treasures like this.”
He's so close like this. You watch his eyes flick around the locket, his fingers tracing over the gems, and the way his dark curls fall as he tilts his head to examine.
“Silly me to think anything else. Here I thought you were just checking out my chest.”
“Well, you do have wonderful tits," he absentmindedly states. He leaves you gaping as he pulls back.
"Thank you for letting me have a look. I'd be rather fond of that if I were you. That's a special gift."
"Y-yeah, but given to me by a not-so-special guy," you shrug.
You sense an awkward pause, but he watches you with a soft, dimpled smile. You motion towards the window out to the harbor, “Which one is yours?”
“The biggest one. Naturally.”
You stifle your giggle and notice a boat at the end of the port. Beautiful and massive.
“Wow, you weren't kidding. What's it like up there?"
"On the boat? You work in a marina. Have you ever been on one?”
“Oddly, no.”
He didn't hide his shock.
“I'm sorry. Are you telling me that summer lover could give you a necklace but decided not to show you his deck?”
“Something like that," you lean onto the bar, "How unfortunate for me, right?"
His hand strikes the top of the bar as he rises from the stool, causing you to flinch.
“Well, that simply just won't do! Do you want to come see mine?"
The lamplight and mischievousness dance in his eyes, "I can give you the grand tour.”
“Will you let me spin the wheel?”
"Only the most skilled helmsmen are allowed to touch," he pouts, then that damned smile graces his lips again, "but I think I may be able to bend the rules for you."
“I’m going on break,” you call to Gwen before following the handsome voyager outside.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
"And, this would be the Captain's quarters."
"Oh, Captain Eric?"
He sheepishly rubs at the back of his neck, "I don't particularly like going by titles. Makes me feel like I'm trying to say I'm more important than others. I swear by my men. We venture out for fun, but I'd be stuck at port without them."
"That is a very noble thing to say, Prince Eric."
"Come off it," he laughs while moving over to a table against one of the walls. Eric picks up what appears to be a rock. He turns the object in his hands before showing you.
"Fossilized sea stone. Found it off the coast of my home island."
He places the textured stone in your open palms. The unexpected weight of it doubles you over, but Eric catches you. His hand lingers on your hip.
He proceeds to tell you about the rest of his findings laid out on the surface. You love the way his face lit up. Making himself exhilarated with his own stories. You listen intently and let yourself live vicariously through his retellings.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
Eric locks an ornate chest up as you watch. Sitting on the table now cleared of his glories. “So, are you considered a sailor, explorer, or just a guy with a boat and a lot of time on his hands?”
Eric laughs, "The last one, for sure. Once I turned nineteen, my mother allowed me to venture out and sail with the crew. I've always loved the idea of discovering something new on my voyages. Whether it be places, possessions, or people."
He's moving into your space, "I am happy to have met you, Y/N."
"And I, you, Prince Eric."
"No titles here." He leans in with a hint of a grin in his whisper, "I forbid it."
"Oh, that sounds like a command, and I shall obey, Your Majesty."
He chuffs as you see his eyes drop to your necklace again. His fingers dance along the silver chain before exploring further and grazing over the top of your chest. He makes sure to peek up at you for some sort of permission. Silently, you put your hand over his own to guide him to grab a handful of your breast. Eric takes the cue and squeezes while closing the gap between you with a kiss that immediately heats up. Hands knead your breasts over your camisole-corset top.
"And here I thought you've been admiring my necklace all night. I feel scandalized," you tease while he kisses your neck.
"No, no, it is beautiful! But, these," His calloused hands give a reassuring squeeze, "are really lovely."
Hands quickly work to pull down your blouse to expose your tits. Eric rolls a nipple between his forefinger and thumb. Gasping, you arch up into his touch. Legs instinctively spread wider to allow him in. You feel his dick twitch the moment he presses closer.
A moan growls in the back of his throat as he rolls his hips. Grinding his hard-on into your wetting core while you kiss. Your skin grows hot, his breaths come heavy, and the heat is building between your legs.
Eric put his mouth to your breast, sucking at your skin in obscene, open-mouthed kisses. Eliciting a low keening sound from you. He withdrew just enough to lave at your nipple, back and forth, over and over, until your pussy thrummed to the same beat.
"Is it very unprincely of me to tell you that I would very much like to fuck you right here, now, in my chambers?"
"You are but a man, my Prince."
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
Your body was thrown across the desk. You don’t know where to put your hands, so they grip and scrape at the wooden surface while Eric fucks into you.
He has a firm hold on your naked waist. Keeping your long skirt hiked up to your stomach so he could watch himself penetrate you. He has a brutally harsh pace going. The delicious feel of the drag and pull of his cock.
Eric braces himself on the desk. A toned arm flexes next to your head. His face is now closer to yours as he changes the angle of his hips. With the newfound support, you feel him speed up his thrusting. He groans into your chest. Playfully biting a nipple before kissing up to your neck. His movements were enough to bring you dangerously close to reaching your high in only a few minutes.
"Oh, Prince Eric," you whine.
"Fuck." His hips stutter. "What's my name?"
"Captain Eric. Eric. Eric. "
A wave of bliss hits you and you screw your eyes shut. It doesn’t take long before both of you reach your orgasms. You hold onto Eric's biceps with all your might, as you scream his name. No doubt loud enough for everyone in the tavern to hear.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
At dawn, you're re-dressed and carefully creeping over the creaky floorboards. Trying not to wake any of the still-drunk crewmates who had found their way back onto the ship.
Catching your eye, the silver locket, sat on the once-empty desk, glints in the daybreak. Eric's back rises and falls. The rest of his bare body is covered by the messy bedsheets. Blissfully oblivious of your exit.
You let that sleeping form be your final image of the handsome Prince and disembark the Royal ship.

Picnic
Pairing: Husband!Jonah Hauer-King x Fem!Wife!Reader
Summary: You and Jonahs picnic turns even cuter than planned
Warnings: kissing, pure fluff
a/n: Ive been having so much rain, so this is in honor of that
"Jonah! Hurry up!" You called from the car. Funnily enough, it wasn't as if you were trying to assist your husband, you just stood there all cute in your dress. It was picnic Saturday, and the two of you were beyond excited. You had done all the prep. From quartering giant, juicy strawberries, to making the most perfect sandwich triangles, it was all done. In return, your husband carried the food and drink baskets, the picnic blankets, and of course, the umbrella because 'you never know.'
“I’m here love, you ready to go?” Jonah asked, placing the items in the car. You said yes, and the tow of you went off, driving the rural gravel roads until you guys found the perfect, golden field dotted with blossoms of lavender. Once again leaving your husband with the basket and blanket, you skipped into the field, twirling and giggling like a little girl. You skipped back over to Jonah and took the blanket from him, laying it out over a patch of short grass. You splayed out the spread of food, shooing away the few flies that tried to attack your meal as you took it out of the basket. You and Jonah ate and laughed, making the sun seem to glow brighter with your happiness.
After finishing your food, you packed up the picnic basket, and laid back on the blanket, your arms above your heads, your fingers interlaced. The two of you stared up at the clouds, puffy white clouds against bright blue. You started noticing shapes.
"Look!" You pointed. "It's a bunny!"
Jonah laughed and looked over, smiling at you. "Love, thats a dinosaur."
You furrowed your brow and looked back up at the sky. "Babe, thats obviously a bunny."
Jonah looked back up at the sky with you. He pointed slightly in the distance.
"one thing I'm sure of, though, is that those are storm clouds!"
You tried to scramble up as fast as you could, but by the time you were folding the blanket, the first sprinkles were starting to fall. You grabbed the basket and began running to the car. Jonah ran alongside you, watching the wind whip through your hair, raindrops starting to dot your face. Then, you had an idea. You dropped your things and stopped. So did Jonah.
"Whats wrong?" He asked, the rain wetting his white shirt.
You just giggled and pulled him into a kiss. Breaking it, you poached your stuff back up and shouted, "Race you to the car!"
Jonah laughed and resumed his run. As the two of you approached the car, Jonah caught up. and wrapped his arms around your waist. You let out a laugh and he swung you around to kiss you. The rain was now falling in a steady down pour, but the two of you couldn't care less. Jonah moved one of his hands from your hips to your hand and began to dance you around in the rain, your dress spraying water as you spun. You danced until the clouds parted and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds. Jonah swept you into a final bow, pecking your lops before charmingly opening the car door.
As he opened the trunk, he chuckled at the sight of the abandoned umbrella. He sat down in the front seat, turning the ignition. He looked over at you, already asleep. He couldn't have asked for a better day.

jonah hauer king x fem reader!
Tumblr media
description - you and jonah have been friends since being casted in the same show together, and jonah starts catching feelings for you. you also realise that you do too. but you have a boyfriend… (thank you for the request by the way!)
you and jonah have been friends since.. forever? it’s been quite a while!
you are both actors, so you have to fit in the time to see him. that’s actually how you two met! you and jonah met on the set of a film that you were both casted in! the both of you were absolutely inseparable, your other co-stars would never see you two without each other. never.
it had been five years since that film had been released. you had other movies and tv shows that had been released over the five years since and so did jonah. but the two of you would meet when you could and would always keep in touch.
you always had a soft spot for jonah. he did too. you might have had a small crush on him whilst on set, but you would’ve thought he would’ve got a girlfriend by now.
seems you were wrong. you did though. you don’t know how you did and he didn’t, but that doesn’t matter.
you were invited to a party. not just any party. it was a reunion party for the five year anniversary of the film that you and jonah were in.
you decided to wear a red floral dress to the party, since it was summer, and you wanted to look nice for the occasion.
MINI TIME SKIP -
you walked in to the party venue, holding your clutch bag in your hand as you did so. you were offered a glass of champagne as you walked in, so you took it and continued to walk through the venue.
someone made a small tap on your shoulder, you turned around and it was your co-star anna, who also worked with you in the film. she embraced you in a large hug, you knew that hug. that was an anna hug.
as you were embraced in a hug from anna, you saw a familiar man standing, looking and beaming a smile at you.
it was jonah.
he saw you let go of anna’s hug, and started walking towards you. he met you half way of course.
you gave him a large hug, and you let him pick you up and spin you around, then placing you back down again.
you were so happy to see jonah. you have seen him since wrapping the film, but he was one of your closest friends! so you were always glad to see him!
“y/n!” jonah said, embracing you in another hug, “how are you? you look amazing!”
you smile at him, blushing a little. “thank you jonah! i have been great! what about you, mister?”
he looks at you, admiring you. “good. good! yeah, ive been great! you really do look amazing, y/n!” he tells you again, then you say, “stop it, stop it! don’t look at me! look at you!”, as you giggle along with him.
MINI TIME SKIP -
you, jonah and the rest of the cast sat in the venue just catching up and eating the buffet and the champagne or wine that was around.
“so? y/n! i heard you’re not single anymore?” your co-star anna asks you. you slightly flinch at this question, but you continue to be positive about it.
jonah glances at you as he was unaware of this, slightly shocked. “um.. yeah! ive been seeing this guy for a while.. he’s not an actor or anything but..” you mumble, “he’s sweet.. i guess!”
to be honest, you didn’t really feel that great in your relationship with your boyfriend anymore.. it didn’t feel as good as it was when you first got together.
your other co-stars didn’t really notice the difference in your voice about your relationship with your boyfriend. jonah did. he assumed that something was off about it.
MINI TIME SKIP -
you sat alone in the living room area of the party venue, sipping your glass of champagne. you had just sent a text message to your boyfriend.
that kind of text message.
you’ve ended things with him. he had started to not care for you as much as he used to almost a year and a half ago. but that didn’t matter to you anymore.
you had someone else on your mind. someone else you should’ve had on your mind years ago.
that guy was standing and gazing at you like a lost puppy at the doorframe near to where you were sitting, holding a bottle of beer in his hand.
you caught him in the corner of your eye. “jonah!” you say, placing your free hand over your chest and made a shocked expression on your face, “oh my god! you scared me!”
he laughed, and put his hands up to apologise. “sorry! sorry, y/n!” he told you, sitting on the couch next to you, aiming to start a conversation with you, “you okay? you seem a little down.”
you looked at him. you didn’t want to tell him about the whole breaking up with your ex-boyfriend situation yet, so you lied. “yeah! im great! just taking in this beautiful night, that’s all!” you tell him, sipping on your glass of champagne again.
he looks at you, slightly unsure of what to say next. “i didnt know you had a boyfriend, y/n..” he asked you, trying to make conversation again. you don’t say anything of course. “you know.. back when we were filming, i kinda had a crush on you.”
you look at him. “really?” you asked him, a little shocked.
he nods. then you look at him. “what about now? you still love me, right?” you ask, now realising that you could’ve asked him that five years ago. but you thought why not?
jonah looks at you, now moving a little closer to you. “i do.” he tells you, and that’s all he says, until you decide to blurt out something that’s been waiting to be said for a while now.
“i love you too.” you blurt out infront of him. he sits looking at you, smiling a little. “but. but. you have a boyfriend, right? you said earlier?” he mumbles, slightly losing his words while he looks at you.
you smile. “just before you walked in, i ended things with him.” you say, now moving over to jonah, and placing your hands on his cheeks, the two of you now realising the tension between and how much you feel towards each other.
“he was no good for me, and i have felt things change between us, even since and during filming!” you say, thanking yourself for finally revealing how you feel, “and i just think.. i um..”
you were about to say something, and jonah takes your hands off his cheeks and puts his own on yours, now embracing you in a passionate kiss.
the two of you moved away from the kiss to find your co-star anna standing at the same doorframe that jonah was standing at a few mins ago. she smirked at you.
“i knew it.” she said, while sipping her champagne, clearly drunk from the slight slur of her words. she walked back into the garden and left you two to talk.
you and jonah laughed as anna walked away. “she’s drunk.” jonah tells you, still holding your cheeks.
you laugh at his words, “clearly!” you laugh, now moving your head to his, looking into his eyes.
“i love you, y/n..” jonah tells you, looking in to your eyes, “god.. should’ve done that a while ago…”
you laugh again, continuing to look at him, admiring him completely. “i know.. me too..” you tell him, “i love you too, jonah.. so much.”
you both continue to sit on the couch again in the living room of the party venue, now with your head on jonah’s shoulder, while he has his hand around your waist.
it felt perfect. one you both should’ve done five years ago, but it was perfect.
please don’t copy my work! <3

Jonah Hauer-King x Fem!Reader
y/n's nostalgia playlist
• summary: jonah and y/n started decorating and preparing for the new addition when some familiar songs come on and they sing together •
[Y/n] smiled, as she helped her fiancé paint the clouds on the wall in the new baby’s room. One hand on her growing stomach, as she painted the outline of a cloud.
“Hey, Alexa play my nostalgia playlist.” She said, to the Alexa in the corner of the room.
“Okay, playing your nostalgia playlist on Spotify.” Alexa responded back, and she smiled hearing once upon a dream started playing.
She started singing the song, occasionally her feet moving just how Aurora did in the film. “And I know it’s true it's true that visions are seldom all they seem,” She sang, painting the clouded along with some tiny birds.
“But if I know you, I know what you'll do.” She sang, looking over towards Jonah who turned to look back at her with a smile on his face.
“You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.” He sang, and smiled a giddy look plastered on her face. Once the song was over, she looked at him seeing the paint on his nose.
“You got paint on your nose ri-”
“When you meet the someone who is meant for you.”
Her eyes widened with excitement, hearing her favorite childhood song play. “I’ve been dreaming of a true loves kiss and a prince I’m hoping comes with this.” She sang, along with Amy Adam’s character Giselle.
“That's what brings ever-aftering so happy.” She sang, she said grinning ear to ear.
“And that's the reason we need lips so much” she sang, as he watched her a smile on his face as she used the paint brush as a mic.
“For lips are the only things that touch”
“So to spend a life of endless bliss,” she sang, turning towards her fiancé, smiling.
“Just find who you love through true love's kiss” she sang, as she leaned up towards Jonah planting a kiss on his lips smiling as he kissed back.
She continued singing the song, even towards the end. Even trying to sing the high note but barely hitting it. Jonah couldn’t help but chuckle softly, causing her to gently hit him on the back.
“Ow,” he said, and she pursed her lips furrowing her eyebrows. A new song came on, and she giggled. As ‘Part of Your World’ played, Jodi Benson’s version. Since this was her nostalgia playlist.
Jonah wrapped his arm around her waist, as they looked at the wall. Smiling at their job well done, eventually the two sat down to take a break. Eating sandwiches she made before going back and finishing the room.
“Ava will be back in two hours.” She said, as she takes a bite of her sandwich.
“We aren’t even halfway done with the room.” He said, and she smiled gently nudging him.
“It’s not like the baby’s coming tomorrow we have enough time.” She said, drinking some water. “Alright,” she said, standing up and grabbing the vacuum.
She started vacuuming the floor, and then grabbed the box for the crib. “Whoa whoa don’t over do it.” He said, taking the box himself. Laying it on the ground, and cutting it open.
Pulling out the instructions and parts for the crib. She helped him start putting the correct pieces with each other, and of course eventually something was wrong.
“Where’s B2?” He asked, looking around the room on the floor. “Check the box.” She said, and he emptied out the box and nothing came out.
She started helping him look around, and found it in the corner of the room. She gasped, feeling a sharp kick.
“Jonah? Jonah?!” She shouted, and smiled. “They kicked they kicked!” She said exclaimed, and he smiled rushing over placing his hand on her stomach gasping pulling back his hand feeling his child kick.
“Whoa, she’s definitely got your kick.” He said, she and smiled placing her hands on his chest.
“Who says it’s a girl?” You asked, and he grinned, “Call it intuition.” He said, and she rolled her eyes. She leaned up to kiss him wrapping her arms around his neck.
~~~~~~~~~•~~~~~~~~
She couldn’t wait to marry him, beside Ava he’s the best thing to ever happen to her. He completely changed their lives for the better, and Ava finally had a dad. The way he played with her when he was a complete stranger to them at the restaurant she once worked at melted her heart.
And when he kept coming back, and eventually asked her out on a date. She’d never forget that moment on their third date, they shared their first kiss. And it was the most magical moment of her life.
She smiled, placing the stuffed animal inside the crib along with an Ariel plush Ava decided to give away to her new baby sibling. ‘If I could break this spell I’d run to him today, and somehow I know he’s on his way to me.’
“Jonah, you and I were meant to be..” [Y/n] sang, looking down at the picture of the ultrasound of her baby. She turned to look at him.
“Far long than forever.” She sang, walking towards him and taking his hand he looked at her and smiled lovingly.
“I’ll hold you in my heart.”
“It’s almost like your here with me although we’re far apart.”
Jonah looked at her and smiled, and she was about to sing Derek’s part. Thinking Jonah had never seen the Swan Princess, such an underrated classic. “Far longer than forever.” He sang, her eyes widened in shock.
“As constant as a star.” He sang, looking down at her nuzzling his head against hers causing her to giggle.
“I close my eyes and I am where you are.” He sang, and she placed her hand on his cheek.
“Sure as the dawn brings the sunrise,” She sangs, intertwining her fingers with Jonah.
“We've an unshakable bond,”
“Destined to last for a lifetime and beyond,” he sang,
“ Far longer than forever (Far longer than forever)” they sang together, and started slowly dancing
“I swear that I'll be true (I swear that I'll be true)” Jonah placed his hand around her waist pulling her closer, and he planted a kiss on her cheek.
“I've made an everlasting vow”
“To find a way to you”
“Far longer than forever” they sang, their love for each other evident they weren’t only singing a love song from a movie. But a love song that suited them perfectly in this moment, theyd love each other far longer than forever.
“Like no love every known”
“And with your love I'll never be alone” they both sang staring into each other eyes.
“Far longer than forever” she sang holding his hand.
“Much stronger than forever” He sang.
“And with your love I'll never be alone” She sang, staring at him lovingly as the song ended. She smiled before wrapping her arms around him.
“I love you far longer and forever.” She said, and he looked down placing a finger underneath her chin.
“And I love you far longer and forever.” He said, and she smiled as he leaned down kissing her on the lips. Just then he reached into his pocket, and pulled out a velvet box.
She looked at him confused but he opened it, revealing a replica of the necklace Derek gave Odette in the Swan Princess. She wrapped her arms around him kissing him on the cheek over and over causing him to laugh, and he helped her put it on.
She couldn’t wait for what their future holds. Especially, now with a baby on the way but they’d new they’d have each other, far longer than forever.
I can see you (Y/N and Jonah’s version)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jonah x fem!reader
A/N: Ignore how some of the lyrics aren't pink, it kept messing up. Also first smut, bare with me ya'll 😀.
Summary: You’re at a premiere party and your coworker keeps making not so subtle moves on you. Inspired by 'I Can See You' by Taylor Swift.(Lyrics in italics and pink)
Warnings: SMUTTT. Oral (fem receiving)
Your recent film was a huge success thanks to the incredible chemistry and or sexual tension between you and your coworker Jonah.
You currently had your back against a wall in the hallway of the host's house, drinking from a red solo cup and talking with a cast mate when you suddenly feel a shoulder brush against yours. You turn around only to see Jonah flash you a smirk before walking away.
"You brush past me in the hallway And you don't think I, I, I can see ya, do ya?"
You scoffed lightly before returning to your conversation. You tried to focus on the words being said to you but you catch yourself watching Jonah down the hall hoping he wouldn't see you.
"I’ve been watchin' you for ages And I spend my time tryin' not to feel it"
You shook your head subtly trying to get yourself together. 'But what would you do if I went to touch you now?,' you fantasized in your head, 'What would you do if they never found us out, What would you do if we never made a sound?'
You turned your head in the direction that Jonah went only to see him at the end of the hallway watching you carefully.
'Cause I can see you waitin' down the hall from me
Gathering your nerves you walked over to Jonah. "Has anyone ever told you that you have a staring problem. Take a picture it'll last longer." you teased and he chuckled darkly before closing the gap in between you. His hand gripped your chin as he backed you up against the wall.
'And I could see you up against the wall with me'
"I like to call it the Y/N effect. You really have a hold on me darling," he whispered into your ear, letting go of your chin and placed his hands on your waist, pulling you impossibly closer to him.
'And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew That I can see you'
"Really? What effect do I have on you Jonah," you whispered back and he could hear the smirk in your words.
"How about I show you," he suggested before attaching his lips to your neck, leaving hot-open mouthed kisses on your skin, you bit your lip in an attempt to hold back the moans that threatened to spill out.
"You really wanna do this here?" you asked breathlessly knowing that anybody could walk in on the two of you at any given time. He picked you up, your legs wrapped around his torso and carried you to the nearest bathroom.
'And we kept everything professional But something's changed, it's somethin' I, I like They keep watchful eyes on us So it's best that we move fast and keep quiet'
He locked the bathroom door behind the two of you and placed you down on the counter. "Do you want this?" he asked looking you in the eyes and you simply nodded but that wasn't enough for him. "Words, pretty girl," he said with a slightly teasing tone.
"Yes Jonah, I want this," you said quietly and he smiled in satisfaction before pressing his lips against yours in a passionate kiss. His hands gripped at the base of your hips and he slowly took off your dress. He gently cupped your breast over your bra and kissed the exposed skin, making sure to leave behind a trail of hickies.
"Can I take this off?" he asked toying with the clip of your bra and you nodded eagerly. He unclipped your bra with ease and began to plant open-mouthed kisses on the newly exposed skin. His hands found a resting place on your hips as he trailed his kisses lower and closer to where you needed him the most.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Jonah asked looking into your eyes.
"I've never been more sure of anything," you assured him and he gently slid down your panties, getting on his knees in front of the counter.
His hands gripped at your hips as he placed gentle kisses on the insides of your thighs as he began to gently bite and suck at the skin. He looked up into your eyes as he licked a long stripe up your slit before licking and sucking at your clit earning soft moans and whimpers from your mouth only encouraging him to speed up the movement of his tongue.
You gripped the edges of the sink while his tongue flickered between your slit and he hooked his arms around your thighs, holding you in place as he devoured you like a man starved.
You looked down at him and found his eyes gazing into yours watching you intently as he wrapped his lips around your clit and sucked desperately. The view was making you dizzy. The way his eyes bore into your own as his tongue wrapped around your wetness made you grind your hips into his mouth seeking more friction.
He gave a long stroke with the flat of his tongue and sucked you into his mouth tugging slightly and you could feel the pull of your throbbing clit. Then he spread his mouth wide over that sensitive nub and sucked even harder, a sudden stabbing sensation making you cry out in pleasure. Your whimpers and moans grew significantly louder as the coil in your stomach tightened his tongue moving faster while he felt you clenching around his mouth.
He pulled away slightly. "Cum for me, love," he whispered before continuing his tongue's brutal attack against your clit. You cried out in pleasure as you approached you orgasm and he slowed down his licks, helping you ride out your orgasm.
He stood back up and licked the remainder of your wetness off of his lips looking into your eyes as he did.
"You gonna let me return the favor?" you asked with a sly smirk.
Hey! Could I request a fluffy imagine with Jonah Hauer-King? Where him and the female reader are married and expecting a baby girl. They are discussing names and he suggests Melody. Thanks!
Tumblr media
“Hey love,” Jonah greeted sitting down next to you on the couch. “What are you up to?” He asked looking down at the notebook in your hands.
“Coming up with baby names,” you said before crossing a name off the list.
“Without me?” he gasped pretending to be offended.
“Sorry baby,” you apologized by giving him a gentle kiss.
“Don’t let it happen again,” he said in the sternest voice he could manage without laughing.
“Yes sir,” you laughed, saluting him jokingly.
“What names do you have so far,” he asked.
“Starting with A’s,” you began and Jonah widened his eyes when he realized that you had the list in aplhabetical order.
“How many baby names do you have darling?” he asked genuinely and you simply shrugged.
“Addison, Ava, Aya, Anna, Allison, Amara,” you listed and continued to go on until you finished all the A names.
“Okay what about the B’s?” he asked seeing that it was the shortest sectipn on the list.
“Bella, Bria, Brooklyn, Brielle, Brianna, Bailey,” you said and Jonah cut you off before you could get to the C’s.
“What about Melody?” he suggested and you smiled.
“Melody,” you hummed in agreement and smiled at your husband.
SNEAK PEEK OF A WIP
Tumblr media
Gathering your nerves you walked over to Jonah. "Has anyone ever told you that you have a staring problem." you teased and he chuckled darkly before closing the gap in between you. His hand gripped your chin as he backed you up against the wall.
'And I could see you up against the wall with me'
"I like to call it the Y/N effect. You really have a hold on me darling," he whispered into your ear, letting go of your chin and placed his hands on your waist, pulling you impossibly closer to him.
'And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew That I can see you'
"Really? What effect do I have on you Jonah," you whispered back and he could hear the smirk in your words. He gently held your chin and made you look down, but to be fair it looked at you first.
"How about I show you," he suggested before attaching his lips to your neck, leaving hot-open mouthed kisses on your skin, you bit your lip in an attempt to hold back the noises that threatened to come out.
Sauntering down the halls with his coat thrown over his shoulder, Jonah had his other arm around his mate Max. Throwing his head back in roaring laughter, you sighed at your locker as you watched him and Max pass. There was something about Jonah, the very essence of him, that bugged you. Perhaps it was because he was obnoxiously snobby and conceited; or perhaps it was because you found him so attractive in spite of that. Either way, he irked you. Not that this affected him in any capacity. You were invisible to him. He'd never so much as even looked your direction. You preferred that it stayed that way.
Unfortunately for you, you did have one class with Jonah. History on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The subject that interested you the least. Jonah was also disinterested in this subject- you could tell by his incessant comments and interruptions.
Taking your seat in class, you prepared for another monotonous period. You looked down at your notebook, opening it to your notes from the previous session. Drawing a divider and writing the date at the top, you started a new bullet point. Your professor Sebastian entered, pulling out the chair behind his desk at the front of the lecture hall.
"Good morning class. There's been a change of plans. Today, instead of lecturing as I normally do, we're going to split up for a group project. I've randomized your names to assign you partners. Pass this list around."
Sebastian walked over to hand the list to a front row student. You sighed again, closing your notebook. You hated group projects and forced socialization. You tapped your fingers on the table, waiting to find out who your designated partner was. When you were finally handed the list, your eyes skimmed down the page, and your mouth fell open in dismay.
No way, you couldn't be that unlucky.
Groaning, you pressed your palms to your eyes.
"Whoa, what's all this then?"
You stilled, slowly pulling your fingers away to open your eyes.
"What?"
You snapped back.
"Why are you groaning? Most people would be delighted to work with me," Jonah scoffed.
His arms were lazily crossed over his chest, and he rolled his eyes. Rounding the table and pulling the chair away from you, he took a seat in it.
"Oh, I'm sorry that I'm not a member of your fan club," you retorted.
"Whatever," Jonah shrugged.
"I don't think I've ever seen you before, so I'm not surprised. You must be new here."
You laughed, and it was your turn to cross your arms over your chest. You shook your head.
"No. No, I'm definitely not new. I've been at this university for a year already, same as you."
Jonah smirked, and shrugged again.
"Well, I suppose you haven't done anything notable."
You contorted your face in anger when your professor spoke up again.
"Alright, now that everyone has their partners, you'll be working on a presentation on your assigned ancient civilizations."
Reading from the paper on his table, Sebastian pointed to the paired partners, listing the assignments. He pointed to you and Jonah.
"(Y/N) and Jonah, you have Mesopotamia."
Nodding your head with your fingers laced on your desk, you tried to steady your breath. It was just a presentation. You could get through this.
Sebastian finished reading off assignments, and let the class begin researching.
"Alright," you turned to Jonah.
"I know this isn't your thing, but I can begin compiling facts about ancient Mesopotamia. Can you handle finding pictures for the presentation?"
Jonah, who was looking down at his phone and not at you, grunted in response.
"Hello?"
You waved your hand at Jonah to get his attention. He sighed, locking his phone, and looking at you impatiently.
"What? I don't do group projects. I only stand up there and look pretty for the presentations," Jonah's lips twisted in a smirk.
You huffed in anger.
"You're ridiculous. Have you ever had to work in your life?"
"No," Jonah chuckled.
"Now that you mention it, not really."
You closed your eyes, rubbing your temples.
"Whatever. Let's just get through class. I'll do all the work for the presentation if you stay out of my way."
You missed it, but Jonah's smug expression slipped momentarily.
"Deal," he agreed.
᠃ ⚘᠂ ⚘ ˚ ⚘ ᠂ ⚘ ᠃
Later that night at your flat, you began your research. Clicking on a link to a museum website, you found an interesting article on Mesopotamian artifacts. Scrolling down the page, you saw a picture of the woman who wrote the article. Why did she look familiar? Her title read Museum Archivist, Deb Hauer.
Wait. Hauer?
Pulling up the school website, you typed out a message for Jonah.
Is your mom a Museum Archivist at the Natural History Museum?
You didn't expect a reply tonight, or for at least a couple of days. To your surprise, your school email pinged with a reply only minutes later.
Yes. Why?
You rolled your eyes. You weren't sure if this guy was purposely dense or what.
She wrote an article on Mesopotamian artifacts. She's an expert on this subject. Is there any way I can arrange a meeting with her?
Again, you expected no answer. Again, you were surprised when another message pinged.
What's in it for me?
You sighed. This man was infuriating.
How about an A?
You hit send, and closed your laptop. You got up to go wash your face and brush your teeth before bed. You laid down after, opening your email on your phone. Jonah hadn't replied. You rolled your eyes again, locking your phone and setting it under your pillow. This was going to be a long couple weeks.
᠃ ⚘᠂ ⚘ ˚ ⚘ ᠂ ⚘ ᠃
The sun shone through your curtains the next morning. Rolling out of bed and stretching, you picked up your phone with a yawn. Opening your email, you saw a reply from Jonah.
I'll see what I can do. Send me your number on here and I'll text you the details.
Pausing, you contemplated for a moment, but shrugged and typed out your number before hitting send. Getting ready for the day, you didn't think about Jonah anymore. It wasn't until that evening after you'd finished all your classes and returned to your flat that he texted you.
Hey. My mum said she's free tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. to give you a tour and answer any questions. That work for you?
You smiled. You were excited to meet a professional such as herself. You wondered how the apple fell so far from the tree.
Yes, that's perfect. Thanks!
Walking to your closet, you laid out your outfit for the morning. A nice top with a pencil skirt was what you decided on. You wanted to look at least a little professional. Jumping into bed, you couldn't wait to head to the museum in the morning.
᠃ ⚘᠂ ⚘ ˚ ⚘ ᠂ ⚘ ᠃
Looking out the taxi window at the huge museum before you, you smiled. Paying the driver, you stepped out, and smoothed down your skirt. Walking up the steps, you felt yourself getting more excited as you approached the entrance. Although history was your least favorite subject, the Natural History Museum always fascinated you with its exhibits. They rotated throughout the year, and were always different and seemingly more interesting every time you visited. You entered the lobby, and walked up to the help desk.
"Good morning," you folded your hands in front of you.
"I believe I have an appointment with Mrs. Hau-"
"(Y/N)!"
You scrunched your brow and turned your head. You spotted Jonah approaching you.
"Hey. I can take you to the section where we're meeting my mum," he glanced to you, then to the receptionist.
"I got her from here. Thanks, Margaret," he nodded.
Margaret smiled at him. You looked between the two curiously for a moment. He could be polite and remember people's names?
The revelation shocked you. Jonah caught sight of your expression, and turned to lead you through the museum. You hurried after him. His legs are much longer than yours, and you were wearing platforms. Jonah weaved through the museum with ease, occasionally checking behind him to make sure you were still there. When he finally came to a stop and sat on a bench in a hallway, you plopped down, out of breath. Jonah turned to you with the corner of his lips quirked.
"Was I walking too fast?"
You shook your head.
"No, it's fine. I have short legs, and heels," you managed.
"Do you know this place well?" You tried to change the subject.
Jonah shrugged, looking ahead.
"I suppose. I've come here a lot over the years with my mother."
You strummed your fingers on your leg.
"So, the whole dumb, popular jock persona is an act? You must've picked up a lot being here all the time," you thought aloud.
Jonah sighed.
"I never said I was dumb. People just assume."
He turned his head back to you.
"Like you did," he pointed out.
You swallowed, your eyes scanning his face.
"I guess I did. I'm sorry. You complain a lot in class, and make jokes like you're completely uninterested. I guess you're a good actor," you laced your fingers around your knee.
"Why would you put on that show if you're not really like that?"
Jonah scrubbed the back of his neck.
"I dunno. Everyone has different ways of camouflaging themselves to fit in I suppose. This is mine."
You nodded, turning your gaze to a poster on the opposite wall from you.
"Are your friends actually your friends if they wouldn't accept the real you?"
Jonah was about to answer when he heard heels hitting the tile flooring. He looked to see his mom walking towards your bench. Standing, he extended a hand to you to help you up. Blinking in surprise for a moment, you quickly grabbed his hand to stand and introduce yourself to his mother. The woman before you smiled warmly. She had dark hair and beautiful blue eyes that you immediately recognized in Jonah.
"Good morning Mrs. Hauer," you outstretched your hand for her to shake. She took it firmly.
"Thank you so much for meeting with me. I'm thrilled to be here," you gave her your best smile.
Mrs. Hauer nodded.
"Thank you for your interest. It isn't often that people outside of this profession are genuinely interested in my work."
"I've always been fascinated by ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia. This school project gave me an opportunity to explore it is all."
You shook your head, realizing yourself.
"Oh, I apologize. I didn't introduce myself. My name is-"
"(Y/N)," Mrs. Hauer interjected.
"Don't worry, Jonah told me. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Your eyes cut to him, only to find his cutting away from you.
"Come, let's begin our tour," Mrs. Hauer extended her arm for you to pass.
Falling into step beside her, you clasped your hands in excitement. You caught sight of Jonah strolling beside you with his hands casually stuffed in his pockets.
"I wasn't aware you'd be joining us for the tour. I figured you'd leave it to me," you mentioned.
"I planned on staying," Jonah shrugged.
"Jonah has been through this museum many times. He could probably give you a tour himself," Mrs. Hauer smiled proudly.
You smiled back, nodding. You heard Jonah awkwardly clear his throat. His mom's eyes moved past you, and you could only imagine Jonah's expression at this moment. You planned on teasing him about that later.
"Right," Mrs. Hauer led you into a show room with multiple artifacts on display in glass cases.
As she began listing off facts and dates, you jotted notes down on your small notepad. You had a few questions throughout the tour, all of which Mrs. Hauer answered adeptly. You followed her through several more rooms, in total awe of the well-preserved treasures. The whole tour, Jonah quietly trailed behind the two of you with his hands folded behind his back.
He observed your reactions to his mother's extensive knowledge, and he had to quell his laughter at your animated expressions on more than one occasion. He had never noticed you before being partnered with you in class, but now he wondered how in the hell he ever missed you. He assumed that was by your own design. But you're so intelligent, kind, and beautiful. You're so uniquely you, and you're unapologetic about it. Had he been living that far under a rock? Perhaps he'd lost himself in this new persona that he projected.
Jonah snapped himself out of it when he heard his mother say his name.
"What?"
Mrs. Hauer chuckled.
"We're done with the tour, darling. Would you like to show (Y/N) around some more? I have a meeting in about ten minutes," she looked at her watch.
Jonah nodded.
"Sure. Thanks mum."
Mrs. Hauer turned back to you, extending her hand to shake yours again. She put her second hand atop yours.
"It really was a pleasure to meet you. Come back anytime," she flashed a pair of dimples at you.
Damn, this man really takes after his mother.
You thanked her again, and watched her walk to Jonah to give him a kiss on the cheek. What you didn't see, however, was that she also squeezed his hand with a wink. You saw Jonah's throat bob with a swallow. After his mother left, Jonah closed the distance between you.
"Well, we can take a look around, and I'll tell you what I know about the other exhibits," he shrugged.
You smiled with your (e/c) eyes bouncing between his.
"Okay. Your mother's wonderful. Thank you for arranging a meeting for me."
Jonah's breath hitched in his throat. What was this foreign feeling blooming in his gut? He fought to tamp it down.
"It's no problem," he admitted.
"I figured I'd at least put forth a little effort in this partnership."
Fuck. Why did he say that?
"Partnership?"
You repeated the word, tasting it on your tongue, and twisting your face into an amused expression.
"I suppose we are partners," you decided.
"I'll admit, my dread about this whole presentation with you has decreased substantially. So thanks again."
You smiled again, turning to walk down the hallway. Jonah absorbed your words for a moment before he caught up with you. The rest of your visit consisted of Jonah telling you random facts he knew about the museum's other displays. You actually laughed and chatted with him. Who knew that was possible? Beginning to see a whole new world open up before you, you decided that you should leave while you had the chance. Jonah took you back to the entrance of the building.
"I have to get going. Thanks again for arranging the meeting, and for the tour after. You're almost as good of a guide as your mom," you teased.
You swore you saw color rising up Jonah's neck.
"See you in class tomorrow," he replied.
᠃ ⚘᠂ ⚘ ˚ ⚘ ᠂ ⚘ ᠃
Thursday morning rolled around, and you were a little more chipper than usual getting ready for the day. You told yourself that it was because you were excited for class, but you knew that it was because of a specific person in class. Breezing through your first couple class periods of the day, you walked to history hugging your textbook. Upon entering the lecture hall, you looked past the rows, and spotted Jonah sitting in the chair beside your usual spot.
"Good morning," you chirped, pulling out your chair.
"Morning," he smiled back, locking his phone, and setting it down on his desk.
The two of you didn't have time to exchange much else as Sebastian entered and began lecturing shortly after. Tapping your pencil against your notebook, you cast your eyes to the side. Jonah was listening to the professor, but taking no notes. You nudged his arm on the table with your elbow.
"What? You're a genius who doesn't need to take notes?"
You whispered.
Jonah smirked in response.
"Something like that."
You rolled your eyes, but couldn't help the smile that pulled at your lips. The class period rolled by faster than you expected, and you were almost disappointed that you had to leave. The pleasant warmth radiating from the body beside you had no effect on this whatsoever.
The next history lecture passed by in the same fashion, and you were excited to do your presentation with Jonah for the next class. You'd put together an impressive slideshow, and Jonah had access to some stunning images, courtesy of his mother. He had initially texted you some of the pictures, asking if you liked them. You told him they were perfect to go with the flow of the powerpoint. Truthfully, you were giddy anytime you saw his name pop up on your phone. The feeling was unexpected, but not unwelcome.
᠃ ⚘᠂ ⚘ ˚ ⚘ ᠂ ⚘ ᠃
The day your presentation was due, you picked out your cutest outfit. You wore the same skirt that you had to the museum, but paired it with a bright blue top today.
"The color will compliment his eyes."
Admonishing yourself for that thought, you hurried out the door. You needed to focus. Your first two lectures of the day couldn't go by fast enough. You were constantly checking the time. Your history period finally rolled around, and you hurried to class.
From the other side of the campus, Jonah walked to lecture with his hand in his pockets. A clap on his back signaled to him that Max caught up with him.
"Oi, why are you in such a hurry to class?"
Jonah scoffed.
"I'm walking my normal pace, wanker," he joked.
Max's face twisted in amusement.
"Awfully defensive," he held his hands up in mock surrender.
"You're doing that presentation with (Y/N) today, right?"
Jonah halted his steps to look at Max as his eyes instinctively narrowed.
"Yes, why?"
Max came to a stop in front of Jonah.
"Just be careful with that one, mate. Vanessa heard a rumor that she's dating a senior."
Jonah scrunched his brow pensively. There's no way you would do that. You would tell him if you had a boyfriend, right?
"I doubt it," Jonah started.
"I've never heard her talk about one, and she spends most of her time alone."
"But have you actually asked her?"
Jonah considered the question.
"No," he curtly replied.
Max grimaced. Jonah rolled his eyes, turning to finish his walk to class. Why was he so peeved now?
Things had been going well with you. He sat beside you in class, and the two of you were texting just this morning about what to wear for the presentation, even though you had said your outfit was a surprise. That had only made him more excited to see it.
Racking his brain, Jonah tried to remember any mention of a boyfriend. Surely you wouldn't be so flirty with him if you had one. He'd taken you to meet his mother for gods sake. Sure, it was for information on your project, but that wasn't normally something he did with anyone. He'd even told some women he's dated in the past no when they asked to meet her.
Finally shuffling into the lecture hall, Jonah's mood was pretty well soured until he laid eyes on you. He could see why you'd kept your outfit for today a mystery. You looked almost illuminated with a bright blue shirt that he recognized as the color of his eyes. You were busy stacking papers at your seat, and you missed Jonah's ogling. Tightening his grip on the shoulder strap of his bag, Jonah swallowed down his nerves, and walked to his seat beside you.
"Good morning," you breathed when you saw him at last.
Your smile was genuine and beautiful. Jonah decided right then and there that he would be content with looking at that smile every day.
"Morning," he scooted out his seat.
He cleared his throat.
"(Y/N), I have a question for y-"
"Alright class!"
Sebastian's voice boomed as he entered.
"Let's get started with the presentations. Who would like to go first? (Y/N) and Jonah?"
Jonah rolled his eyes. Damn.
You sprung from your chair, and Jonah reluctantly followed you to the front of the classroom. Loading your powerpoint on the laptop on the podium, you cleared your throat, and stepped back to begin the presentation.
Throughout the whole thing, Jonah found himself watching you like an audience member. He only supplied a few facts on his rehearsed slides, while you provided the rest. Jonah lost track of time, enamored with you. The class applauding was the only signal to him that you finished your slideshow. Shifting his eyes to the class, he gave you a few complimentary claps, and followed you back to your seats.
"There. Aren't you glad we got that over with first thing?"
You whispered to him, nudging him with your elbow again.
"Sure," Jonah smiled.
"Hey, I wanted to ask yo-"
"Okay, everybody quiet down. Great presentation you two. Who's next?"
Sebastian's voice resonated over Jonah's again. Jonah sighed, sitting back in his chair. The two of you sat through a handful of other presentations. Jonah couldn't help but notice that your phone vibrated with a message. You immediately picked it up, and smiled at the screen. His eyes tried to focus on your phone, but he couldn't quite see what you were looking at.
Shit. He shouldn't be trying to look at your phone. That's total creep behavior. He knew that, but he also had this feeling nagging at the back of his throat. What if what his friends had heard was true? What would he do then? He was pretty well ensnared by you at this point. There was no denying it.
Jonah watched you pick up your phone several more times, giggling at the screen. He began tapping his pencil on his notebook. He was getting himself worked up.
"Who are you texting?"
He whispered. The question had escaped his lips before he could contain it. You turned to examine him curiously. He saw defensiveness spring into your eyes.
"Why? What're you playing at?"
Jonah was taken aback. He hadn't expected that response, but what did he really think? That he could just infringe on your privacy like that? He had no claim over you whatsoever. He probably had the least amount of claim over you of anybody, in fact. Scrambling for something to say, Jonah opened and closed his mouth a few times. Your expression shifted to one of anger, and then to one of embarrassment. Before he could even form a response, you gathered up your things, and promptly exited out of the back of the lecture hall.
Fuck. What had he done?
Debating on whether or not he should go after you, Jonah huffed, and snatched up his bag to follow you. Running down the hall, he caught up to your retreating form.
"Hey," he grabbed your wrist.
You turned around, but didn't meet Jonah's gaze. He could tell from how red your eyes were that you had tears in them. You made no move to speak, and only stared down at your feet.
"I'm sorry. Who you're texting is none of my business. Can I take you to lunch, and we can talk?"
Jonah let his thumb caress your inner wrist. Shivering at the soothing touch, you finally let your eyes meet his. His expression was sincere. You felt a pinch of guilt in your stomach. You simply nodded, and let Jonah lead you to the campus cafe. His fingers slid into yours, and you felt goosebumps erupt on your skin. You wiped your face with your other hand as the two of you walked in silence. Sitting down at a small table in the cafe, Jonah pulled your chair out for you.
"I can go order us some burgers. Is that okay?"
You nodded again, and folded your hands on the table. You were slightly shaking. Jonah returned to the table moments later with an order number. He sat across from you, and ducked his head to meet your eyes.
"Hey, talk to me. I apologize again for before. Is everything okay?"
You nodded.
"Yes, I'm sorry for how I reacted," you squeezed your hands tighter.
"I just got out of an abusive relationship. My ex was insanely jealous, and wouldn't even allow me to text my friends without his constant supervision."
"I'm sorry. I had no idea," Jonah swallowed the lump in his throat.
"Truthfully, I was getting paranoid because of something that my mate told me. He heard that you were dating a senior. That's why I asked who you were texting when you smiled at your phone, but I had no right to do so," he admitted.
"Yes, well, I was dating a senior. I ended it last month. He made all kinds of threats against me and himself. I suppose word of that hasn't gotten around yet," you shook your head.
"That's why I mostly keep to myself."
Jonah laid his hand over yours.
"Well, what's important is that you got away from him. He can't hurt you now. Not while I'm here."
Your eyes shot up to Jonah's. He smiled in response.
"You don't know what you're saying-" you started.
"I do," he interrupted.
"You're much too special for me to let you go now, (Y/N)."
A worker brought your burgers and fries to the table, setting the tray down between you and Jonah as your hands separated.
"Thanks," Jonah nodded at the man.
Looking down at your plate briefly, he looked back up at you again.
"Let's eat, and you can tell me everything," he reached to squeeze your hand reassuringly.
"We have an ancient attraction, (Y/N). I'm not going anywhere."
"Why must everything around here be themed?"
Eric groaned in frustration.
He had found himself busy with preparations for the ball all week. He wanted everything to be exactly as he envisioned. Between the chatter and your occasional misstep onto his toes at your dance lessons, Eric found himself doing something with you that he hadn't done with anyone on the island in a long time: laughing. Just the thought of you brought a smile to his face.
"Why don't you ask the girl?"
Eric was brought back to the present by Lashana.
She had been adamant that he pick a theme so that she may get the proper decorations.
"Ask her what?"
Lashana tsked.
"Ask her which theme she prefers - oceanic or, what was the other one, sire?"
"Astronomy. It's the study of the stars," Eric supplied.
He looked down at his fidgeting hands in thought.
"Yes, I suppose I could ask her. She is the guest of honor, after all," he shrugged.
This brought a smug grin to Lashana's face.
"There's no need to be shy, Your Majesty. Everyone around the palace loves (Y/N). Her smile brightens up any room she's in."
"Well, her smile is quite warm," Eric mindlessly spoke, envisioning your face before him.
Clearing his throat, he brought himself back to reality.
"I enjoy her company. She's a breath of fresh air compared to all these stuffy aristocrats," he excused.
Lashana chuckled.
"It is nice to see ya found someone with shared interests after all these years, sire. You deserve it," she smiled fondly at the prince.
"Ask the girl. This will be the most perfect ball the palace has ever seen."
That night, at your dance lesson, Eric decided to let you take the lead.
"Really?"
You questioned him with big doe eyes.
"Sure," he smiled.
"You know the steps well enough now. Let's see if you can lead me."
You hesitated for a moment, but wrapped your arms around his shoulders. Taking the lead, you focused on your feet, making sure to get the steps right.
"(Y/N), I've been meaning to ask you. Lashana has been busy with finding decorations for the ball. Apparently, everything has to have a theme."
You giggled as you could practically hear the roll of his eyes in his voice. You looked up at him.
"Yes, I suppose it should if you want the proper decorations. So, what is the theme?"
"Well, I wanted your opinion. Do you think it should be nautical, or astronomical?"
You made a pensive face. Eric was sure it was your most adorable expression yet.
"Everything around here is ocean themed, isn't it? I think astronomical would be a nice change of pace. What do you think?"
Eric flashed his dimples at you.
"I think you're quite right. Everything around here is so monotonous. An astronomy theme will be a nice change of pace."
"Good," you nodded.
"I'm excited for my first ever ball. Lashana is taking me into town tomorrow to pick out a dress. I won't get anything too expensive -"
Eric immediately halted his movements. You looked at him with a quirked brow.
"Lashana has orders from me to get you whatever you like. Price is of no consequence. You should have your dream dress for your first ball. And if you truly enjoy it, hopefully it will be the first of many."
Eric watched enraptured as your (e/c) eyes danced between his. There was some emotion there, but he couldn't quite name it. Your gaze made sweat appear on his brow. What had he just implied? That you'd be with him for more dance parties? He hadn't truly realized his words before they escaped his mouth.
"Can I ask you a question, Eric?"
You observed him carefully.
"Anything," he practically whispered.
"This isn't out of pity, is it? There have been whispers among the staff. Even when I try to escape them, one can't help but overhear."
Eric straightened his back.
"What do they say?"
Your gaze dropped down to his chest.
"They say that they never heard of this ball until you mentioned it to me. They say that you feel guilty for a poor servant girl-"
"No," Eric interjected.
"To answer your question, no, this is not out of pity. My mother is always encouraging me to spend more time on land, and to be more social. You and I got along so well when we first met. You gave me an excuse to throw one is all. You should pay no mind to those who gossip simply to have something to say."
You nodded with a scrunched brow, looking down. Before he could stop it, Eric's finger hooked under your chin to pull your face back up to his.
"You will find a beautiful dress tomorrow. I shall be looking forward to seeing it."
Your lips parted. Eric's eyes caught the motion, and he dropped his hand. The spark tingling his skin was too much to keep the contact.
You realized yourself, closing your mouth, and clearing your throat.
"Thank you for your kindness, really. I'll make sure to choose a fitting gown."
𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ
The next day, under the bright Sardinian sun, you walked to the village with Lashana. The two of you made friendly small talk all the way to the dress merchant. Browsing the selection, you ran your fingers across the silky fabric.
"There's so many to choose from. How will I ever decide?"
You looked to Lashana. She shrugged with a smile.
"Well, we know that you look good in blue. Any complimentary colors should work as well," Lashana combed through the selection.
You rounded the corner, and spotted a mannequin wearing the most elegant dress you'd ever seen. It looked like something out of a book. You gasped.
"Lashana," you waved your hand, your eyes still fixated on the gown.
Lashana rounded the corner with a smirk.
"Yes, that's the one."
Lashana got the attention of the merchant.
"Excuse me, miss? Can she try this one on?"
𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ
In the dressing room, you struggled to catch your breath with the corset as tight as it was. Smoothing your hands over the material of the dress as it slid over your head, however, you realized it was all worth it. Turning to the mirror, you gasped. Tears sprung to your eyes unexpectedly. You'd never seen yourself look more than a princess than in this exact moment. Walking closer to your reflection, you touched the mirror to ensure it wasn't a dream. You could pinch yourself. When would you ever get another opportunity to truly look like royalty? You were far from it, but maybe for one night, you could pretend.
Your thoughts shifted to Eric. What would he think of the dress? Would he have the same reaction? You would be delighted if he did. For once, you felt beautiful. You heard Lashana make her way towards the dressing room, and she spoke before entering.
"Come now, dear. Let me see," she pulled back the curtain.
Her jaw dropped as you turned to see her reaction. You giggled, and twirled in the dress.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
"My, he's going to love you in that dress, (Y/N). You look like a vision," she praised.
Feeling heat crawl up your neck, you took another look in the mirror.
"You think so? I'd very much like that."
Jonah rolled over in bed to look at the ceiling. As he examined the light fragments pouring in from his window, his thoughts drifted to you, as they have every day since he ruined things. What was he to do tonight? He knew he would see you. He didn't want to upset you any further, but he wanted a chance to speak to you face to face.
He missed you; there was no denying that fact. He would have to try to refrain from touching you if you did give him the time of day to talk. But what could he say? He'd felt hopeless and lashed out. That wasn't your fault, and you were the least deserving of his cruelty. After everything you'd done for him and his mother, Jonah knew he should be on his knees before you. Perhaps he would tonight if given the chance. He'd do anything to have you back- even if you were guarded, and even if you only gave him a small part.
Groaning and throwing his elbow over his eyes, Jonah cursed himself for the thousandth time. He didn't know what he'd do tonight, but he had to do something. This was his chance.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Your fingers strummed nervously on your steering wheel as you drove up to the arena. You had to put your game face on. Sure, things had been tough, but you could handle anything that happened tonight. Right? Right.
You didn't allow yourself to take stock of the cars in the parking lot tonight. You simply grabbed your medical bag and headed inside. Feeling the wave of cool air as you entered the front doors, you smiled at Ariel. She practically bounced out of her seat, rounding her desk, and running to you for a hug.
"Hey (Y/N). Are you okay? I don't know exactly what happened, I only heard that some things went down," she rubbed your back.
You nodded with your chin over her shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I'll make it."
Even as you said the words, tears pricked at the corner of your eyes. You don't know why people who genuinely cared for you asking you if you were okay made you so emotional.
Finally releasing you from her embrace, Ariel still held you at arm's length to examine your face.
"You haven't been eating or sleeping well. I can tell. I have some melatonin supplements in my bag if you need them," she smoothed out your hair beside your face.
"That's okay. Thank you though," you smiled.
Ariel nodded, giving you one last once over.
"You're a beautiful badass, (Y/N). Don't let anyone tell you any different," she smiled with her pearly white teeth.
With a renewed sense of confidence that you could make it through the night, you headed to your seat. Setting your bag down on the table, you sat, straightening out your uniform. You looked up as you heard footsteps approaching.
"Good evening, (Y/N). How are you doing?
Sebastian smiled at you.
"I'm alright. How about yourself?"
"I'm okay. Thank you for showing up tonight and not bailing on me," he steepled his hands in front of him in praise.
You giggled at the sight.
"You're welcome. It's no problem," you assured.
"Keep your game face on, yeah?"
You smiled at his words, as you had been telling yourself the same thing only minutes earlier.
"You bet."
Watching Sebastian's back as he left, you began a breathing exercise. Patrons started slowly pouring into the stadium, and the music came over the speakers.
"Good evening everyone," the announcer's voice came on as he circled the ring.
You tuned out the rest of his speech and continued to steady your breath. You knew you'd see Jonah soon, and you wanted to be mentally prepared. Tapping your fingers on the table, you were happy to see the first fighters come out. At least the fights gave you something to focus on.
The fight started, and you learned forward, watching every blow. The smell of the mixture of sweat and blood soon filled the air. You could never escape that smell. Bouncing your knee, you made it through the first fight, and waited for the second one to start. This fight passed by in the same fashion, and you felt as if you were about to bounce out of your chair at the rate your knee was going. Settling your hands on it to quell your anxiety, you moved your eyes to look around the stadium the second you saw a fragment of black curls.
Jonah made his way into the cage, and his eyes landed on you immediately. His breath hitched in his throat. He was grateful to see you again, although you wouldn't look at him. He couldn't blame you. Walking around to his corner, Jonah tried to get himself in the right headspace for the fight, but he knew he'd be distracted.
You looked up as his opponent entered the cage, and Jonah felt a twinge of jealousy that another man caught your gaze. The bell rang, and Jonah finally looked at his fellow fighter. The guy rained continuous blows on Jonah, coming out full force. Jonah blocked every one, letting him expend his initial burst of adrenaline. After he tired himself, Jonah set to work dealing carefully calculated blows. One after the other. Within minutes, the man was standing on his last leg. Jonah wrestled the guy to the ground, forcing him to tap out. Releasing his hold, Jonah stood up. He noticed sweat and blood smeared across his chest when he looked down.
Jonah's gaze fixed on you again, and he caught your eyes for the first time that night. Hoping and praying that you wouldn't look away, Jonah approached the side of the cage where you sat. Hooking his arms over the mesh, he leaned his face forward.
"Please meet me in the alley. Please," he shouted above the cheering fans and chaotic crowd.
You didn't answer him, and Jonah was pulled away to be announced as the winner of the fight. You stared after him, and Jonah kept his head turned to you until his coach grabbed his chin to force his gaze ahead. The referee held up his gloved hand, and Jonah gulped in oxygen as the crowd erupted again. There was a ringing in his ears, and everything sounded distant. His shortness of breath wasn't from the physical exertion of the fight, but rather the uncertainty of whether or not you'd actually meet with him. Jonah's corner crew threw a towel over his shoulders, and ushered him back to the locker rooms.
"Oi, what's gotten into you boy? You should be happy. That was a phenomenal win."
His coach clapped him on the back. Jonah simply nodded. Feeling the hot spray of the shower, Jonah scrubbed all of the grime and blood off as swiftly as possible. He had to get dressed and see if you'd actually meet him in the side alley of the gym. Pulling on his clothes at lightning speed, Jonah stumbled with one shoe in his hand, and grabbed his gym bag to push past the swinging door.
The door to the alley burst open, and Jonah stepped out, looking from side to side. He didn't see you. His heart sank. What if you didn't come? You didn't owe him anything. Deciding to post himself on the wall in hopes that you'd eventually show, Jonah sighed, closing his eyes and leaning his head back against it. His thoughts and emotions swirled in his mind. After a handful of minutes, Jonah heard the door swing open again.
Peeling his eyes open, Jonah watched as the lighting from inside painted you in an ethereal glow before the door swung shut. You looked down at the opposite end of the alley, and turned your head to meet Jonah's eyes. Feeling his heart hammering in his chest, Jonah let his gym bag slide off his shoulder. Your eyes followed his movements carefully, and you watched him approach you.
"You came," Jonah uttered in disbelief.
"I'm so happy you came," Jonah's hands rose to cup your cheeks slowly, cautiously.
He felt the sting of tears in his eyes. Would you actually let him touch you? He should be so lucky. You didn't move from him though. Your (e/c) eyes simply bore into his blue ones. Your lips parted as Jonah's skin made contact with yours. You watched his pupils dilate in response. Jonah slowly moved you back, pressing you to the wall. You let your medic bag slide off your shoulder as he did.
"I want to kiss you, (Y/N)," Jonah voiced his thoughts, looking down at your lips.
"I want that, too. But we need to talk first," you reasoned.
You almost regretted not letting yourself get wrapped up in the moment. Jonah's eyes blinked several times, as if he was trying to pull himself out of a trance.
"Right," he shook his head, placing his hands on the wall on either side of your head.
Jonah swallowed down the lump in his throat. He knew he needed to sincerely apologize.
"I'm so sorry, (Y/N). For everything. I got scared, and I lashed out. It was completely unfair to you, and I know you deserve better than that," he started, examining your expression.
"I know you were scared," you breathed, your voice trembling slightly.
"I just don't want to commit to another relationship where everything's always my fault. I can't do it again. I won't," you shook your head.
Jonah gently grabbed your upper arms then, ducking his head to meet your eyes when you cast them down.
"Hey, it's not. I'm so sorry. I'll get on my knees before you if I have to," he spoke with baited breath.
The corner of your lips lifted slightly.
"That's not a bad idea," you shrugged.
To your surprise, Jonah dropped down before you, looking up at you from his knees.
"I want you back, (Y/N). I need you back," he pleaded.
Your eyes welled with tears.
"It's just that...," you felt all of your emotions barreling forward.
You took a shuddering breath.
"Look, you said you couldn't commit, I said that was fine. You called me a friend after you fucked me in my car, I said that was fine. You told me that you had to walk away, I said that was fine. But this, this is not fine," you felt the tears spilling over.
"My life, my work, is chaotic enough. My partner needs to be my safe haven, not my turmoil."
You took another deep breath, lifting your head, and looking at the moon.
"I've played this game before. Frankly, I don't have the time for it anymore. If you're not one hundred percent invested, let me know now," you finished your speech.
Jonah rose to stand back up, lifting his hands to cup your cheeks again. Swiping your tears away with his thumbs, Jonah watched you with your eyes to the sky for a moment. Settling his forehead against yours, Jonah closed his eyes, and sucked in a deep breath.
"I'm all in, (Y/N). I'll spend the rest of my life making this up to you, if you'll let me," he opened his eyes to connect with yours again.
"I promise."
It was effortless, really. As soon as you grabbed Eric's hand, he pulled you to his chest, and the two of you were moving. Eric's strong arms guided you as he talked you through the steps. If you were being honest, however, you heard very little. You were too engrossed in this experience. Your limbs had never moved the way they were currently, and you'd certainly never been this close to a man as young and handsome as the prince. You were caught in a pleasant haze; one that you would hate to snap out of.
Noticing your distant look, Eric slowed his movements.
"Is everything alright, (Y/N)?"
Your arms tightened on Eric's shoulders as you shook your head, coming back to reality.
"Of course. I can't believe how amazing this is. It's surreal," you smiled.
Eric's eyes dipped down to your mouth before returning to yours.
"See? I knew you'd love it," he nodded with a sense of accomplishment.
You focused on matching Eric's footing so that he wouldn't have to guide you entirely.
"You spoke of my status earlier," Eric started.
Your eyes found his again.
"It makes me no better than you. You and I are alike in many ways. My life is also devoted to service, only it's of this kingdom. The pressure can be quite stifling. That is why I partake in the simple pleasures, such as sailing, and teaching a lovely young woman to dance."
A pink hue settled on your cheeks.
"What's it like? Sailing?"
You were desperate for a subject change. Eric closed his eyes for a moment, as if imagining himself on a sailboat now. The man hardly kept his feet on land.
"Freedom to express yourself; freedom to explore; freedom to just be," he opened his eyes to look down at you.
"No expectations. No rules. Out there, I'm at peace."
"That sounds marvelous," you gushed.
"You deserve an escape like that with all of your responsibilities here," you agreed.
The prince was right. He was no stranger to pressure. Pressure from his mother, pressure from the court; there was no shortage. You couldn't imagine carrying the weight of that responsibility. He made it look effortless, really. It's no wonder that he acted out against his mother's wishes from time to time. Eric stilled for a moment. You quirked your brow in question.
"Sorry," Eric excused.
"I'm not used to people empathizing with me."
Eric proceeded with the steps, tightening his grip on your hand. His statement made you sad.
"That's unfortunate," you pouted.
"People expect you to show them grace when they have none for you?"
"It would seem so," Eric chuckled.
"It's alright, really. I know that I am luckier than most. For that, I am thankful," Eric smiled.
"Well, we now know you like dancing. What exactly are your other interests, (Y/N)? It's curious, really. I can't remember the last conversation I had where the other person asked so much about me, and told me so little about themselves."
You shrugged.
"There's not much to tell. My interests are simple. I enjoy walking on the beach, collecting seashells, and swimming in the ocean."
Eric halted his movements again.
"Why don't we take a break, (Y/N)? We could walk to the beach now," he urged.
You smiled and nodded. Keeping hold of your hand, Eric led you out the ballroom, and down the stairs to the beach. You pulled your hand away from his, only to remove your shoes. You stopped when the prince eyed you curiously.
"Oh, I apologize, Your Majesty. May I? I typically like to feel the sand between my toes," you blushed at the ridiculous sound of your statement out loud.
Eric's dimples made an appearance.
"Eric is fine. And yes, do what makes you comfortable."
You gulped. He gave you permission to call him Eric? Why would he allow you to be so informal? Walking down the shoreline to get a little distance between you and the prince, you focused on the feel of the wet sand beneath your feet. Each time you stepped on a shell, you lifted your foot to examine it. Picking up a pearly, opalescent shell, you turned Eric's direction in excitement. It startled you to find him directly behind you.
"Oh, sorry. Look at what I found! Beautiful, isn't it?"
You placed the shell in Eric's palm.
"This is beautiful. I might be inclined to put it in my study if it didn't belong to you," he grabbed your hand to return the shell.
"Your study?"
Eric's eyes drifted to yours.
"Yes, my study. It's where I keep all of the things I collect on my voyages. I could show you, if you like."
You nodded excitedly. You would be thrilled to glimpse any piece of Eric's world that he showed you. Smiling and grabbing your hand again, the prince led you back to the castle.
𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ
Completely abandoning your dance lessons for the evening, you lost yourself in Eric's world of treasures. The beautiful sea gems he'd found made your eyes twinkle. Diving into his books, you read through them, and had discussions with him. You had so many questions. There were so many concepts that you'd never had access to in your limited education. Who knew that this library of information had been in the castle the whole time?
Your night was filled with giggles, and listening to Eric's soothing voice. You were giddy to say the least. It seemed that it didn't matter what setting you experienced the prince in; you enjoyed his presence regardless. You felt enlightened that night. In the hours creeping up to twilight, you finally bid the prince goodbye. He had given you a couple books to read on nautical legends, including mermaids. You were hesitant to accept them at first.
"It would be my pleasure to have someone to discuss these with," he insisted.
Acquiescing, you left the prince with a smile.
"Good night, Eric," the name with no title almost sounded foreign to your ears.
"Good night, (Y/N)."
𖠳 ᐝ ꕀ
You tiptoed to your room, and set the books down as quietly as possible. What mess had you gotten yourself into? Maybe you thought too fondly of the prince to allow yourself this close to him. What would happen when he inevitably shyed away from you for being a poor, uncultured servant girl?
Crawling into bed, Eric felt quite smug. He'd found a new friend in you - someone with an open mind who seemed to understand him. He thought the island had run dry of them. They always seemed to leave, for one reason or another. Perhaps he could retain this friend. With merely two weeks to plan this ball, he knew he must come up with a solution quickly. Everything had to be perfect. Everything seemed so new and exciting to you, like you'd never experienced it before. He knew that in most cases, you probably hadn't. He wanted this to be a special occasion for you: his newfound treasure.
It had been a summer fling; all-consuming and passionate. Jonah was yours for an entire summer, and he gave himself to you in every way. There was no hesitation, and no inhibitions. Jonah took you stargazing and skinny dipping. The two of you experienced more love in two months than some people do in lifetimes. That's right: love. Though it was short, you knew it was true.
It was the summer before you went off to different universities across the country from one another. You tried not to let that fact gnawing at the back of your mind stop you from being in the moment with him. But as your time together dwindled, you became frantic.
"What will we do? How will we make this work?"
Jonah had no answer. It was no one's fault. The two of you were stepping into the newest chapter of your lives. On your last night with Jonah, he nestled you in his hold.
"You know I'll always love you, right (Y/N)?"
Tears dotted your vision.
"I know. I'll always love you, Jonah."
Of course you kept in touch at first. Jonah called you every night to ask about your day. You felt a twinge of jealousy when Jonah mentioned a new friend named Vanessa. You cried that night with your pillow clutched to your chest. You were envious of the people able to hang out with him; to experience him in real time. What you wouldn't give to have that back.
Eventually, the phone calls slowed. The dates that both of you had planned to visit the other got pushed back. The texts ceased. The dry ache in your chest was so, so heavy at first. You pushed it down further and further every day. He's better off, you told yourself. He's living his life, and I should live mine. Over time, the ache buried itself so deep that you hardly noticed it anymore. Life went on as it always does. It pauses for no one. You learned that the hard way.
The night of your graduation from university, you received an offer letter from your dream job. You had applied for it a month ago, and endured the grueling interview process. It was a photography job for an up-and-coming architecture firm. Urban photography was your specialty, and you reasoned that architectural photography wouldn't be much of a stretch. You would be in charge of the portfolio that is shown to the clientele. You could 'make or break' the company's profit margin according to your interviewer. You knew you were the right fit, and you couldn't wait to start this new endeavor in your professional career. Your thoughts momentarily fleeted to Jonah before you were carried off to the bar with friends to celebrate.
⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
Two weeks later, you started at your new company. You went through onboarding with a smile. Once the new hire process was done, you walked through the office with your new manager. His name was Sebastian, and he was a kind, older gentleman. Sebastian introduced you to some of your peers, and you smiled and shook hands with everyone. You were thrilled to meet your new team. Sebastian was leading you down the hallway to your new office when a man speaking to a co-worker stepped out of a door, directly into your path. You ran into the person's back, immediately halting your steps.
"Oh, my apologies," the man exclaimed.
Why did that voice sound familiar? No.
You sucked in a breath as the man turned to face you. You immediately connected eyes with Jonah. The rest of the world froze around you as you stared at each other for a moment, both in shock.
"Uh, sorry (Y/N). This is Jonah. Do you two know each other?"
Sebastian awkwardly asked.
"Yes," Jonah answered before you had a chance.
It was good considering that you didn't want to answer that question.
"Yes, (Y/N) and I knew each other in our early college days."
You bristled at his statement, and shook your head to snap yourself out of your daze. How, after all this time, did he still affect you this way? Smoothing your hands down your skirt, you smiled to Sebastian.
"Yes, a long time ago now. Shall we continue to the office?"
Sebastian glanced between you and Jonah with his brow lifted for a moment before turning to continue to the office.
"Jonah," you muttered with a forced smile as you squeezed past him.
Jonah turned his head to follow you with his eyes. You didn't turn back to look at him again. Not that you would after all this time.
"Hey, everything alright, mate?"
A co-worker burst Jonah's thought bubble.
"Sh - yeah. Yeah, mate, everything's good. You startled me is all," Jonah put his hand to his chest.
He glanced the direction you left once more, and turned to retreat to his desk.
Sebastian showed you to your new office. It was much nicer than you deserved; you were sure of it. But the whole time Sebastian gave you a tour, your mind wandered to Jonah. The years had treated him well. He only got more attractive with age, you decided. How the fuck was that possible?
Rolling your eyes at that thought, you had to focus on Sebastian. The rest of the morning went off without a hitch, and you practically sprinted to your car to leave for the day. Onboarding was only a half a day, and you really needed to pull yourself together before you saw Jonah again. It's been four years. You need to get over it.
You were due back to start the next morning, and you can't exactly have an episode every time you run into Jonah around the office. You have to be neutral towards him. Taking deep breaths and backing out of the parking space, your mind was screaming at you the whole way home. That night, you meditated, and tried to calm your nerves before bed. You would need all the help you could get.
⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
"Good morning, (Y/N)! Excited for your first day?"
Sebastian fixed you with a toothy grin. You smiled in return.
"Yes, very excited!"
The morning was great. You drove to a model build, and took a million photographs with different lighting and filters. Returning to the office just before lunch, you decided to eat at your desk so you could edit pictures. You were chewing your pb&j when you heard a knock on your open door. You looked up from your computer, and stilled like a deer in headlights. Jonah.
"Hi. I was coming to ask if you wanted to join us for lunch, but I can see that you're busy," Jonah folded his hands awkwardly in front of him.
You nodded, and looked back to your computer screen. Jonah stepped further into your office. Shit.
"(Y/N), I get the feeling that you're avoiding me. I know we have a past. I know things didn't end the way either of us wanted. But please, I beg you, can we talk about it?"
You swallowed the lump in your throat. Jonah was right. You couldn't keep avoiding him.
"Fine. Do you want to talk now or later?"
You set your sandwich down, and folded your hands atop your desk.
"We can talk now," he swung your office door closed.
Jonah strolled over to the seat in front of your desk. He sat down with a smug smile.
"There. Now I have your full attention. How have you been?"
You grimaced, pressing your fingers to your temples.
"Jonah, listen, I know we were kids. I know it was just a fling that fizzled out. We're different people now. Can we just agree to be neutral and professional towards one another? This is my first gig out of university, and it's really important to me that I do well here."
Jonah's smile dimmed, but didn't disappear.
"Of course. It was a fling, it happens. I'm only sorry that it ended the way it did. How ironic that we got pulled to two different worlds, only to end up back in the same one."
You shook your head.
"Right. I'm sorry, what is your position here again? I didn't hear Sebastian say."
"I'm an architect now."
"Wow. That's wonderful. I never knew you wanted to be an architect. See, how well did I really know you?"
Jonah hesitated before answering.
"I didn't even know I wanted to be an architect back then. It took a lot of time and self-reflection to find my true passion. I changed my major several times," he admitted.
You couldn't help but smile.
"Well, I'm glad you've found it. And I look forward to working with you," you extended your hand for Jonah to shake.
Taking it, Jonah shook it lightly.
"I look forward to it, too. Congrats on the new gig," he flashed his dimples.
A week had passed before Jonah started flirting with you.
"What are you doing?"
You scrunched your brow as you asked Jonah the question.
"What? I'm talking to a co-worker," Jonah shrugged.
"No. That was flirting. You're trying to flirt," you rolled your eyes.
"I told you. Professional."
Jonah sighed and threw his head back in dramatic fashion.
"Yes I know what you told me. Neutral. Professional," he lifted his head back up.
"Come on, you can't tell me that you haven't once thought about it over the years," he nudged your shoulder.
"Stop it," you retorted.
"I haven't."
Jonah scoffed at that.
"Yeah right. You can admit that I made you see stars. I know you've thought about it," he lowered his voice.
It was your turn to shrug.
"Nope, I haven't," you replied with a sparkle in your eye, turning to exit the break room.
It was fun to see Jonah squirm.
The flirting continued into the next week. Sometimes you participated, and sometimes you didn't. It really depended on your mood. When you were stressed, you were less likely to flirt with Jonah. Other times, you couldn't help it. There was no denying that there was still a natural chemistry between the two of you. Jonah was familiar.
One evening, gathering up your things off your desk, you heard your office door open.
"I'm sorry, I know I said I would come, but-".
You stopped speaking when you looked up to see Jonah at the door.
"Oh, sorry, I thought you were Flynn," you excused.
You rounded your desk.
"You had plans with Flynn?"
"Uh, yeah. I mean he asked me if I wanted to go to some arcade with him tonight. He said other people might be there. I told him I'd probably come, but I'm exhausted, and my social battery is drained."
You stepped closer to the door, and in turn to Jonah.
"Can I leave my office, please?"
You asked when Jonah didn't answer you or move out of your way.
"Don't go anywhere with Flynn. The dude's a player," Jonah warned.
You barked a laugh.
"Oh, and you're not? Come on Jonah, I'd like to get out of here."
You saw Jonah's shoulders slump, but he opened the door wider for you to pass by him. He closed your office door behind you. The two of you walked in silence down the hall to the elevators.
"What's with you? Are you feeling okay?"
Jonah sighed.
"Yes. I was considering asking you something."
You stopped in your tracks.
"What? You know you have to tell me now," you crossed your arms over your chest.
You didn't miss Jonah's eyes dipping to your neckline. He sucked in a breath, and you saw his throat bob with a swallow.
"I was going to suggest an arrangement," Jonah ducked his head.
"An arrangement?"
He nodded.
"Only if you're interested. I know you're still pretty guarded around me. You've always been good at that. But, personally, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since you started here. I feel we've been given a second chance. If you feel the same, I was going to offer an arrangement. It's not as big of a commitment as dating, but we'd still be able to see one another."
Your heart hammered in your chest.
"What arrangement?"
You weren't considering it. No. You simply needed all the facts before making a decision.
"Friends with benefits," Jonah grimaced, gauging your reaction.
Your stomach dropped.
"Really? You just want to hook up with me," you rolled your eyes.
You began walking again. Jonah's hands came out to comfort you, but at your sharp look, he withdrew them. He followed you to the elevator instead.
"Listen, I know how it sounds. It's just that, I'm not seeing anyone," he put his hand to his chest, "and I don't think you're seeing anyone," he motioned to you.
"It sounded like a much better idea when I rehearsed it in my flat," Jonah scrubbed the back of his neck.
You eyed him suspiciously before you pressed the button to call the elevator.
"There's no other reason?"
You questioned. Jonah shuffled his feet nervously.
"Do you want me to say that I've missed you? I thought you already knew that."
You stepped into the elevator as soon as the doors opened. Jonah followed you in, but stayed quiet.
"I'll think about it," you finally said when the doors dinged open on the ground floor.
You made Jonah wait another week before the hookups started. You made it clear that that's all this was. Neither of you had any claim over one another, and neither of you should expect more. That was easy to say before Jonah had you bent over your desk after hours, plowing you from behind.
Everything about him was just as you remembered. His lips were just as soft, and his body was just as solid. You couldn't help but feel a little lucky that you got to experience it again, even if it was in the form of casual hookups. What you didn't know was that the handful of intimate moments were wearing down Jonah's resolve a little more each time. He always wanted more of you, but how could he ask for that with the way things had ended last time? He felt he had no right. You were quite emotionally guarded around Jonah still, and he couldn't blame you for that. He didn't know how to explain his feelings without you shutting him down. He was lucky that you'd been gracious enough to let him touch you again. He decided that he would take what he could get for now, and bide his time.
It wasn't until one bright, spring morning that your presence was requested at one of the sites for Jonah's latest build. Sebastian said that you were to go and take pictures to showcase his latest innovative design. You agreed, and drove to meet Jonah at the address you were given. When you pulled up, he was standing outside.
"Morning," Jonah chirped as you exited your car.
You shouldered your camera bag. Jonah handed you a cup of coffee, and you looked up at him with a quirked brow.
"What? I remember your coffee order, (Y/N). I'm not a monster."
You laughed.
"Thanks. And good morning," you sipped your vanilla latte.
You followed Jonah into the building. Whether it was designated to be a home or workspace, you weren't sure yet.
"Whoa," you openly admired.
You stared up at the high, arched ceilings with numerous skylights. Jonah smiled, pleased with your reaction, and led you straight to the outdoor patio. Before you was a garden of all different kinds of flowers and trees. The garden path branched off in two different directions from the patio, but you could see that the paths met in the middle in the back of the yard.
Setting your coffee and camera bag down on the concrete, you pulled your camera out, walking down the path to snap pictures. You turned back to the house, since that's now what you assumed it was, and snapped photos of the lovely garden space with the building in the background. Jonah walked on the path opposite you, simply observing. When the two of you met at the fountain in the joined space at the back, you put your camera down, and looked at Jonah.
"What do you think?"
Jonah asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It's beautiful," you gushed.
"What inspired you with this design?"
You focused on your camera screen, scrolling through pictures.
"You did."
You paused your movements, and looked up at Jonah's hypnotic eyes.
"What?"
"You did, (Y/N)," he repeated.
"The house has skylights because you remind me of sunshine. They can also be used to stargaze at night, like we used to. The garden has two separate paths, just as we did, but they converge back together at the end."
Your mouth hung open, but you had no words. Jonah continued.
"All this time, you've inspired my builds. You're the reason that I've been a successful architect. My work has always been my love letter to you."
You closed your mouth, and shook your head, with tears springing to your eyes.
"Don't do that," you muttered.
"It's true," Jonah's hands reached out to grab your upper arms; to keep you from running, at least.
"You're my muse, (Y/N). You're the reason I've been able to channel my passion into my work."
"Don't do that," you repeated, trying to shrug his hands off of your arms.
Jonah tightened his hold slightly.
"These years, these experiences...it feels like a lifetime. A lifetime of emptiness without you. I ruined my chance. I had it all before, I was just too young and stupid to realize it. I know that now. But please, please, for the love of god, let me make it up to you. Let me show you what real love is like. Because I swear, I swear it (Y/N), I've loved you all this time."
Too stunned to speak, you tried pulling away from Jonah again. Jonah let you this time. You took off down the path back to the house. You were full on crying now, tears streaming down your cheeks. You shouldn't have come here. You should've made up some excuse.
Jonah followed you, and let you slip your camera back into your bag. When you tried to grab it to leave, he grabbed your wrist.
"(Y/N), please," he uttered before you turned on him.
"Stop it, Jonah. Just stop it," you barked at him.
Jonah dropped your wrist, but didn't move otherwise.
"I mourned, you know. I mourned the loss of you, and the loss of our life together," you poked your finger into his chest.
"I won't do it again," you croaked.
Your throat was tight with tears.
"You won't have to," Jonah eased his hand around yours.
"I can promise you that you won't have to mourn for us again. It didn't matter what I did, or who I was with; I thought of you every single day. And back then, I didn't know what to do. You had your new life in front of you. I didn't want to hold you back. But it took that time apart for me to realize that you are my life, (Y/N). The only version of my life worth living is with you."
"How do I know this is real?"
"You think it's a coincidence that you ended up here?"
Your eyes shot to Jonah's.
"No," he shook his head.
"All staff is involved in the hiring process, (Y/N). Our managers show us every potential hire, and gather our input. I pushed for you to be here. It wasn't hard to convince the others."
You closed your eyes, shaking your head now.
"What? No, that can't be right."
"It is. Ask anyone. You were a strong candidate because of your resume, but our vote was the reason you were hired right out of university. I knew that we were destined to make our way back to each other. I just didn't know how, until you fell into my lap again."
You looked down at Jonah's chest, whimpering.
"I can't. I can't do it again. It almost killed me the first time."
"I know," Jonah snaked his arms around you.
"Me too, love. It won't happen like that again, I promise," he whispered.
You leaned into his chest, giving into his warmth. You didn't have much to lose, you reasoned. You'd already lost him once before, and the crater left in your world affected you to this very day. Which was better: to risk it all again, or deal with the loss? Your heart knew the answer before you spoke it.
"What happens if I say yes?"
