𖠳 ᐝ warnings: brief smut, 18+ (minors dni), unprotected sex & cursing
Sea salt tickles your nostrils as you step out onto the wooden dock. Nose twitching like a bunny to rid the salty air from your sensitive nerves. You glide forward only a few feet, and your left shin knocks into a wooden pole. A barricade lined the perimeter of the landing. Fencing that stops you from falling into the unknown below. An oil lantern illuminates a portion of the dock and the gradually darkening surface of the deep. The expansive waters lurk just beyond the fading arc of light. Your body gently sways with the sounds of the waves stirring.
Instinctively, you flex your hold on a roped handle. A heavy, disgusting mixture of beer and spit sloshes in the bucket that you have been entrusted to dump out. Polluting the ocean, you think. An unfortunately common attribute of living in a coastal town. It's second nature to dump and forget. Water appears to be along every horizon you look to. It surrounds you, yet it's ever-moving. Continuous. Traveling away.
How you wish you could be out there now. Just like your father had moons ago. Oh, the precious things he gifted you with when he returned to the marina! The carefully selected treasures. He always seemed to know which new object would earn an excited squeal from you because of its sparkles or funky shape. Whispers at bedtime of now fictitious-sounding tales on how he acquired them. To you, his trips were like storybooks. Too embarrassing to admit, you used to go to sleep late into your teens with visions of exploration dancing in your head. Dreaming of the uncharted waters and cloudy faces of the friends you'd make. He'd promise to you, that you would soon be old enough to explore the world with him.
But you couldn't truly treasure the last retelling of his adventures because no one foresaw he would leave it on a cliffhanger. He never came back. Your mother forbade you from speaking of his expeditions as time passed. "Don't go towards the beyond." "This is your home." "You're safe here." she chided. Here, on land. The hope soon ended with the stories. You grew accustomed to the familiar. You were raised here. It's all you have known. Is it worth it to leave at this point?
However, there are instances when you fall back into childlike wonder. In the quiet lulls, similar to the brink of falling asleep, you can't help but contemplate what else the waters hold past their horizons.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
A faint, muffled tune begins inside and wafts out into the silence. The merry-sounding song envelops you. You blink out of the reverie to adjust your vision in the darkness.
You can hear the pub's piano, in desperate need of a tuning, as you push open the door. A gaggle of men are singing a sea shanty in the dining space. They look disheveled but have dancing smiles. You can't help grinning as you watch these men celebrate life.
“Just docked," Gwen, your co-worker, calls from over her shoulder. She fills up two cups and then slides them over the bar top towards one of the waiting men. He slaps a few coins down and moves back to the crowd, like rejoining a school of fish.
Gwen wipes up the liquid he left, “I heard one of them holler that they came in from the Carribean.”
“I feel like that's only the third ship from around there this season."
"How do you manage to even keep track? There have to have been hundreds of vessels that have passed through here."
You blushingly shrug at her knowing smirk. Teasingly, her fingers reach out to flick at your slightly tarnished necklace. A chain made from Spanish silver with a locket bearing some type of ruby gem.
Leonardo was the one who had graced you with this last year. He was a buccaneer. He and his crew docked in town for a fortnight. He was charming and proud. In the tavern, he was always drunkenly boasting about the treasures he had found. The people he'd fought. The Lords he'd impressed. The people he'd fucked. He was so fun.
When your birthday happened around the time he was in town, he came stumbling into the bar with this necklace. He said it was nothing and that he had dozens of more valuable findings in a chest on board his ship. But he never showed you to prove that to be true. However, you did thank him ever so graciously that night.
He sailed out a day later. No harbor was his home. You're used to this life working as a bartender in a popular trading port. You see hundreds of thousands of faces. All of these handsome men ranged from sailors to buccaneers. They all share with you the amazing stories of their lives. They fascinated you. Inspired you. Seduced you. - You can't help but be attracted to the rugged, good-looking, and ambitious type.
A man unexpectedly calls out from the crowd towards the pair of you. His voice grabs your attention like a Siren's song. There were too many bodies to place where it was coming from in the mass of people, but you swear you briefly saw a hand in the air on the left side of the room.
“My lovely bar maidens, a round of your finest ale, please, yeah?"
“Right away, sir,” you nod curtly while pivoting obediently to fill the dregs.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
The rosy-cheeked, rowdy men cheer even louder as you approach with their fifth round of booze. Their attention has been won, not by the promise of refreshments, but by the beer sloshing over the rims and onto the pair of bouncing breasts carrying it all.
Low whistles scatter around the table at your cleavage while you lean over to set down the ale. Mucky hands grabbing for the foaming tankards. You catch a handsome man staring through the limbs. He gives you a dimpled smirk. His eyes betray him as they glimpse down to what you can assume is your chest. Well, he's no better than any man.
Your retreating form hears the same voice from before exclaim, “Here is to another voyage through uncharted waters! I am grateful for all your hard work, boys. And thanks to Grimsby for laying off the scolding because we're three days past schedule."
You're back at the bar. A crewmate, with a red kerchief pushing back his straw-yellow hair, heaves an overfilled mug in the air toward the handsome man,
"And a special thanks to our Captain, whose mother would keel over from learning the adventures her dear boy has taken us on. Prince Eric!"
"Prince Eric," they unanimously cheer!
Together, as they collide their drinks, fat drops of the golden liquid splash onto Prince Eric's tunic and wet his chest. The strings of his shirt are untied. Making the neck loosely hang open with his chest hair on full display. Your eyes are drawn to it. Tracing the outline of his defined pecs through the thin fabric. You're no better than a man. Worst yet, he notices you staring. His stare seems to darken, and he motions his mug towards you as a 'cheers' gesture before returning focus to his companions.
Clearing your throat and dirty mind, you turn back to tend to one of your regulars, a local fisherman slumped over on a stool at the end of the bar.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
Eric strides over as you scrub up the beer rings on the bar, left by the patrons who previously occupied the empty stools. He fluidly pulls one out to sit and drums his fingers along the wood. Blue eyes staring you down for a third time tonight,
"Can I get you anything?”
“I think I should take a breather. My crew is too enthusiastic to get me drunk.”
“Sounds like you're having a bad night." He threw back his head and let out a loud laugh. Admittedly, it was too big of a reaction to that poor joke attempt. You wring out your rag into a nearby bucket to hide your smile.
You wait for a beat before sparing him another glimpse. He’s staring at your chest again. You feel the exposed skin warm under his look. You’re tempted to peek down to see how much this corset is causing you to spill out.
“Did you get it locally?
“Sorry?”
"The necklace," he half-gestures towards you.
You clasp at the pendant, "Oh, this."
He nods with his eyes fixed on your chest a moment longer before moving up to your face. His cheeks are flushed and eyes hooded, assumedly, from the pints he and his crew have slung back. You're moving toward him, holding out the chain to let him get a closer look.
“I think it’s from the Spanish Islands. A pirate passing through last season gave it to me.”
His large hand reaches out to replace yours. “It’s beautiful. I have an eye for treasures like this.”
He's so close like this. You watch his eyes flick around the locket, his fingers tracing over the gems, and the way his dark curls fall as he tilts his head to examine.
“Silly me to think anything else. Here I thought you were just checking out my chest.”
“Well, you do have wonderful tits," he absentmindedly states. He leaves you gaping as he pulls back.
"Thank you for letting me have a look. I'd be rather fond of that if I were you. That's a special gift."
"Y-yeah, but given to me by a not-so-special guy," you shrug.
You sense an awkward pause, but he watches you with a soft, dimpled smile. You motion towards the window out to the harbor, “Which one is yours?”
“The biggest one. Naturally.”
You stifle your giggle and notice a boat at the end of the port. Beautiful and massive.
“Wow, you weren't kidding. What's it like up there?"
"On the boat? You work in a marina. Have you ever been on one?”
“Oddly, no.”
He didn't hide his shock.
“I'm sorry. Are you telling me that summer lover could give you a necklace but decided not to show you his deck?”
“Something like that," you lean onto the bar, "How unfortunate for me, right?"
His hand strikes the top of the bar as he rises from the stool, causing you to flinch.
“Well, that simply just won't do! Do you want to come see mine?"
The lamplight and mischievousness dance in his eyes, "I can give you the grand tour.”
“Will you let me spin the wheel?”
"Only the most skilled helmsmen are allowed to touch," he pouts, then that damned smile graces his lips again, "but I think I may be able to bend the rules for you."
“I’m going on break,” you call to Gwen before following the handsome voyager outside.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
"And, this would be the Captain's quarters."
"Oh, Captain Eric?"
He sheepishly rubs at the back of his neck, "I don't particularly like going by titles. Makes me feel like I'm trying to say I'm more important than others. I swear by my men. We venture out for fun, but I'd be stuck at port without them."
"That is a very noble thing to say, Prince Eric."
"Come off it," he laughs while moving over to a table against one of the walls. Eric picks up what appears to be a rock. He turns the object in his hands before showing you.
"Fossilized sea stone. Found it off the coast of my home island."
He places the textured stone in your open palms. The unexpected weight of it doubles you over, but Eric catches you. His hand lingers on your hip.
He proceeds to tell you about the rest of his findings laid out on the surface. You love the way his face lit up. Making himself exhilarated with his own stories. You listen intently and let yourself live vicariously through his retellings.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
Eric locks an ornate chest up as you watch. Sitting on the table now cleared of his glories. “So, are you considered a sailor, explorer, or just a guy with a boat and a lot of time on his hands?”
Eric laughs, "The last one, for sure. Once I turned nineteen, my mother allowed me to venture out and sail with the crew. I've always loved the idea of discovering something new on my voyages. Whether it be places, possessions, or people."
He's moving into your space, "I am happy to have met you, Y/N."
"And I, you, Prince Eric."
"No titles here." He leans in with a hint of a grin in his whisper, "I forbid it."
"Oh, that sounds like a command, and I shall obey, Your Majesty."
He chuffs as you see his eyes drop to your necklace again. His fingers dance along the silver chain before exploring further and grazing over the top of your chest. He makes sure to peek up at you for some sort of permission. Silently, you put your hand over his own to guide him to grab a handful of your breast. Eric takes the cue and squeezes while closing the gap between you with a kiss that immediately heats up. Hands knead your breasts over your camisole-corset top.
"And here I thought you've been admiring my necklace all night. I feel scandalized," you tease while he kisses your neck.
"No, no, it is beautiful! But, these," His calloused hands give a reassuring squeeze, "are really lovely."
Hands quickly work to pull down your blouse to expose your tits. Eric rolls a nipple between his forefinger and thumb. Gasping, you arch up into his touch. Legs instinctively spread wider to allow him in. You feel his dick twitch the moment he presses closer.
A moan growls in the back of his throat as he rolls his hips. Grinding his hard-on into your wetting core while you kiss. Your skin grows hot, his breaths come heavy, and the heat is building between your legs.
Eric put his mouth to your breast, sucking at your skin in obscene, open-mouthed kisses. Eliciting a low keening sound from you. He withdrew just enough to lave at your nipple, back and forth, over and over, until your pussy thrummed to the same beat.
"Is it very unprincely of me to tell you that I would very much like to fuck you right here, now, in my chambers?"
"You are but a man, my Prince."
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
Your body was thrown across the desk. You don’t know where to put your hands, so they grip and scrape at the wooden surface while Eric fucks into you.
He has a firm hold on your naked waist. Keeping your long skirt hiked up to your stomach so he could watch himself penetrate you. He has a brutally harsh pace going. The delicious feel of the drag and pull of his cock.
Eric braces himself on the desk. A toned arm flexes next to your head. His face is now closer to yours as he changes the angle of his hips. With the newfound support, you feel him speed up his thrusting. He groans into your chest. Playfully biting a nipple before kissing up to your neck. His movements were enough to bring you dangerously close to reaching your high in only a few minutes.
"Oh, Prince Eric," you whine.
"Fuck." His hips stutter. "What's my name?"
"Captain Eric. Eric. Eric. "
A wave of bliss hits you and you screw your eyes shut. It doesn’t take long before both of you reach your orgasms. You hold onto Eric's biceps with all your might, as you scream his name. No doubt loud enough for everyone in the tavern to hear.
༝ ˚ 。⋆ 𓇼 ⋆。 ˚ ༝
At dawn, you're re-dressed and carefully creeping over the creaky floorboards. Trying not to wake any of the still-drunk crewmates who had found their way back onto the ship.
Catching your eye, the silver locket, sat on the once-empty desk, glints in the daybreak. Eric's back rises and falls. The rest of his bare body is covered by the messy bedsheets. Blissfully oblivious of your exit.
You let that sleeping form be your final image of the handsome Prince and disembark the Royal ship.

The next morning, the two of you kept each other in bed. Kisses and moans filled the morning air, until you were both hungry enough to venture out. You walked down to the crew's kitchen with Eric, and the two of you had a pleasant lunch. Going back out on the deck, you were met with storm clouds. You halted your steps. Thunder rolled through the sky, and it filled you with excitement.
"I've never experienced a storm on the surface," your eyes were filled with wonder.
Eric smiled at you, pulling you to sit beside him on a couple boxes stacked beside the railing.
"We can watch it, (Y/N). We've got all the time in the world," he kissed the crown of your head, and wrapped his arms around you. You leaned into his warmth.
Lightning illuminated the clouds, and your eyes followed the string until it dissipated. The thunder following it felt like it came from below and shook the world. Your mouth fell open in amazement. Fat drops of rain suddenly fell from the sky, almost immediately drenching you. You pushed away from Eric's body, and stood, holding out your arms. Tilting your head up to the heavens, you let the raindrops envelop you. Your skin tingled everywhere they touched. You were smiling with your arms still out when you felt Eric's arms wrap around your waist. He turned you around, and when you opened your eyes, you found his, studying you. He smiled after a moment, cupping your cheek, and leaning down to kiss you in the rain.
You stayed like this with Eric for a while. It wasn't until the bottom fell out of the sky that the two of you clasped hands and ran back to his quarters. You were sopping wet, and Eric grabbed a towel. Slowly, he pulled your soaked dress off of you, and dried ever inch of you with the soft fabric. He kissed down your torso, over the tops of your thighs, and nestled his face in your heat.
You felt like time stood still when you were with Eric. Like the outside world melted away, and nothing else mattered. Eric traced his fingers over your bare back while you had your head on his chest. This is bliss, you thought; this is happiness. This is why humans pursued their own kind. Merfolk had relationships, sure, but you felt that it was mostly for reproduction. Humans, on the other hand, crave passion. Perhaps that's what makes them so headstrong and forthright.
Interrupting your thoughts, Eric asked you, "Do you remember your curse, (Y/N)? Mine is carterized in my brain. I was curious if yours was something similar."
You propped your chin up on his chest, meeting his eyes, and shook your head.
"No, I don't. I was too busy gasping for air. The spell immediately turned me human, and from that depth, I barely reached the surface for air before losing consciousness," you recalled.
Eric nodded his head thoughtfully.
"What did you pick up the seashells on the beach for?"
A smile graced your lips.
"It's silly, really," you laughed. "I was going to have you write letters that we could stick in bottles, and fill with sand and shells to sink to the bottom of the ocean."
Eric also donned a smile at your confession. You playfully hit his arm.
"Shut up, I know it's silly. Don't make fun of me."
Eric shook his head and held his hands up in mock surrender.
"I would never do such a thing. It could've worked; like sea snail mail."
The rest of the night was spent laughing in each other's arms. It wasn't until the next morning that Eric finally had to leave.
"I hate to untangle myself from you, but I have to go," he teased, kissing your nose as you pouted at his departure.
"Where are you going?"
You sat up to watch him get dressed.
"We docked at Sicily a while ago. I'm running into town to meet someone. He's a business associate that sells me information. I won't be gone long. You should rest, (Y/N)," he kissed your forehead.
You smiled at him and nodded, bringing the blanket up to cover your chest. You watched him leave, and when he turned back to take one last look at you, you couldn't help but blush. Hearing the door click and lock, you threw yourself back on the mattress. What a wonderful way to spend your days. So much had happened. So much had changed. They were good changes, though; something you weren't entirely accustomed to.

Eric walked through the village to his normal rendezvous spot with Scuttle. He was anxious to get the intel. This time, he'd written Scuttle to try to find any information on who had killed your mother. He could only hope that Scuttle found answers. This man was his best bet.
When Eric reached the alley where they usually met, he spotted a cloaked figure standing at the end of the passage. Approaching it's back, he lifted his hand to pat the man's shoulder.
"Scuttle, thanks for meeting me on such short notice," he smiled.
When the figure turned, Eric saw that familiar brown hair. Once those green eyes locked with his, he was immediately enchanted. A bright yellow flash passed through his eyes. The hummed melody only sunk him deeper into the enchantment.

You were a nervous wreck. Eric had been gone for hours. The sun had been high in the sky when Eric left earlier, and now it was getting dark. Grimsby had returned to the ship from the market, and was astonished to find that Eric was not with you.
"Did he say where he was going, miss?"
"He said he was going to meet a man for some information," you racked your brain.
Grimsby gave you a pensive nod.
"Yes, he must have been talking about Scuttle. They often rendezvous here."
You looked out at the open sky from the deck.
"It's dark, Grimsby. Should we go find him? He told me that he wouldn't be long. He's been gone for hours now," you clenched your hands anxiously.
Grimsby put his hand over yours in a comforting manner.
"Yes, we can go search for him, (Y/N). Get some shoes on," he smiled and motioned with his chin.
When you turned from him, Grimsby looked toward the village with dread. Eric is an honest man. If he said he'd be back, he'd be back. Something was amiss.
⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱ⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱᐧ.˳˳.⋅⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱ⋅.˳˳.⋅ॱ˙˙ॱᐧ.˳˳.⋅
The two of you had ventured through the village, headed towards the alleyway, when you suddenly spotted Eric's curls. You'd recognize them anywhere. You grabbed Grimsby's arm, pointing to Eric. He turned and headed towards him with your arm still wrapped around his.
"Eric," Grimsby breathed a sigh of relief. "We've been searching for you. You didn't return to the ship."
Eric turned to face his first mate with zero recognition or light in his eyes.
"Oh, Grims," he replied coolly. "I won't be returning to the ship. I've decided to settle on the island."
Grimsby's mouth fell open in shock.
"What do you mean, Eric?"
Eric's face was plain and unbothered.
"I mean what I said. I won't be returning to the ship."
Grimsby dropped your arm, reaching out to grab Eric's.
"This isn't like you, Eric. You're speaking nonsense. Come back to the ship and get some rest."
Eric jerked out of Grimsby's grasp, and shook his head.
"It's not nonsense. I've met someone here, and I've decided that it's time for me to plant new roots."
Grimsby's expression shifted to anger.
"What do you mean you've met someone here, Eric? If you have, it's news to me. What about your mother? You're just going to turn your back on her?"
Eric had no answer. He stared blankly at Grimsby, and you thought that maybe you saw confusion flash across his features.
"Eric," you stepped up to him.
Eric's stony gaze shifted to you, and it was the first time that he had acknowledged your presence with his first mate. You grabbed his forearm, hoping that the skin to skin contact would bring him back to you. The crease in his brow deepened, like he was perplexed.
"Did something happen? Please, return to the ship with us. We can talk about it there."
"Who are you?"
Your skin bristled, and your heart jumped to your throat. The two of you had just spent the last 36 hours in bed together.
"Eric, what do you mean? You don't know who I am?"
Eric paused for a moment, but pulled his arm away from your touch.
"I'm getting tired of all these questions."
Your thoughts raced. Something was very wrong. What could you say to him to jog his memory? You suddenly had an idea.
"Spirit entwined,
Soul engraved,
Reverse the curse,
True love claimed," you recited.
"What is that?"
You were growing exasperated.
"Eric, I thought-."
Eric locked eyes with you and interrupted.
"You really thought you could be that for me, (Y/N)?"
The feeling of someone stabbing you with a blade, and twisting it for good measure, ripped through your chest. You stepped back from him. Tears welled up in your eyes, and you felt them spilling over on your cheeks. You turned and started running back to the ship.
Grimsby was torn. He saw how hurt you were, and wanted to pursue you, but he also wanted to get through to Eric. He was certain that you knew your way back to the ship. He let you go. Grabbing both of Eric's arms now, he shook him.
"What's the matter with you, boy? Why would you say that to her?" He spat.

You ran all the way back to the Cassiopeia. You knew that it was far too early to be developing feelings for Eric, but somehow you were. Did you really think that you could be Eric's true love? How naive were you, honestly? The thought made you sick to your stomach.
You rushed up the brow onto the ship, but froze when you were met with a trail of seashells and sand on the deck. You glanced around, finding no other souls in sight. Cautiously following the trail, it lead you straight across the deck, over to the plank. You hesitantly stepped up, leaning over to peer into the water. An eery green glow was bubbling up from the sea, and you heard a familiar voice call out to you from the depths.
"(Y/N)...".

LEE HEESEUNG as PRINCE ERIC ( THE LITTLE MERMAID ) !
when you pulled him to the shore from the wreckage of his sunken ship, and you felt the sand on the shore for the very first time, you knew you could never go back to how things were… and when you fell for him for the very first time, you knew you would never be able to love anyone else. but he had someone else now—a princess, who could speak, could laugh, could tell him just how much she loved him… you were just a mermaid who traded her voice for legs; a silly girl who used forks as a hairbrush, and couldn’t walk two steps before tumbling over the other. there was no way he would fall for you… or so you thought.
you had no idea his love for you ran deeper than the ocean that you saved him from. that the moment he found out you were missing and nowhere to be found, he felt his heart drop in his chest right down to his stomach. or that the first thing he did was send his guards out to every corner of the city in search of you, hoping that he didn’t just lost you forever. and that was why, when he saw you standing at the beach where he met you for the first time, he couldn’t hold back his feelings. not after reading the letter you left behind for him, saying that you were leaving him so that he could marry someone who wasn’t you. he wasted no time in chasing you down before you could even set foot in the sea, his arm grabbing yours and hauling you to his chest, as if you were the one sinking this time, and it was his job to pull you back to shore.
you couldn’t even gasp in surprise before his lips were on yours, swallowing your protests like he was drowning again, and you were his last pocket of air. “don’t ever leave me like that again,” he panted between desperate kisses, his arms pressing you even more firmly against his body. you stared at him in shock as salty tears ran down his beautiful face, reflecting the ones that fell down yours not too long ago. “please,” he whispered, his forehead resting against yours. “i love you too much to let you go.”
PARK JEONGSEONG as PRINCE CHARMING ( CINDERELLA ) !
you were used to being treated like a trampled flower in the dirt. the moment your father passed away and left you in the care—or rather, the mercy—of your stepmother, you had learnt to tuck away your dreams in the back of your mind, where they would remain unrealised, yes, but at the very least, untouched by the hands of your wicked stepsisters, who would not hesitate to tear them into shreds like the did your mother’s precious gown.
but the prince was different. you could still remember his handsome face and his gentle smile, the way his calloused hands held your waist ever so gently while the two of you danced beneath the light of the crystal chandeliers and the burning eyes of a hundred spectators. would he be disappointed if he couldn’t find the girl who fit the glass slipper you left behind? you hoped not, for you had no doubt there would be princesses all around the world eager to fill the spot that you missed… and yet, they couldn’t. because they weren’t you. he made that clear when he broke through the door with the force of the men at his beck and call, eyes searching frantically until they landed on your figure—-dressed in rags and covered in ashes.
you scrambled to your feet, your face burning in shame as you bowed your head. you almost wished he didn’t find you here, if only to spare him the disappointment of realising that the girl he had been chasing was no princess, but a servant girl who didn’t even have a scrap of new clothing to her name. and yet, those calloused hands of his found their way to your chin ever so gently, lifting your eyes to meet his ones. your knees felt weak, and your face warm— like the sunlight that filtered through the attic window, and like the look in his eyes as he gazed upon you. “it’s you,” he said with a whisper, a wide smile blooming across his face. because there was no way it wasn't you; not when he had been dreaming of those eyes of yours since the night you met. “my princess…”
SIM JAEYUN as FLYNN RIDER ( TANGLED ) !
there was once a time where you wanted nothing more than to know what it felt like to feel the grass beneath your feet, and to lie in meadows of dandelions under the sun, like they always talked about in the books you piled up in your little room. to know what it was like to be free. and he was the one who gave you that. the one who showed you the world. but being with him was dangerous, for the both of you, and you would rather stay locked up in the tower forever than let him be hurt. now, the only thing you wanted, was for him to be safe. even if that meant giving up the freedom you would once trade anything for.
you stared at the painting on your ceilings—the painting of the lanterns that he took you to see, just as he promised. the lanterns that bore witness to your first kiss on a boat in the middle of the lake… right before your mother found you, and dragged you back to the tower, promising pain on the man you loved–yes, loved—if you didn’t do as she said. you sighed as you raised a hand over your eyes. and it was then that you heard a knocking from the inside of the walls. someone was here. and it wasn’t your mother. you moved faster than you ever did before you learnt how to braid your ropes of hair, and you slotted yourself between one of the bookshelves to hide, frypan in hand, at the ready.
this scene felt all too familiar. you found yourself remembering the charming grin as you stood with a frypan in hand, eyeing the man who broke into your home and changed everything. but now was not the time for such thoughts. as soon as you heard the intruder enter, your charged with your pan held over your head with violent intent—only to have it fall from your hand when a hand you knew all too well wrapped around your wrists, securing them together in its singular grip, before pushing you up against the nearby wall. jake watched your lips fall apart in a silent gasp, eyes lighting up in recognition at his face. his name left your lips in a quiet sigh, and his heart leapt at the sound, at the sight of your pretty face under the sensual lighting of the setting sun. he wasted no time in ravaging your mouth with hungry kisses, his hard body pressed against yours as he attempted to feel every part of you against him, so he could feel you like he wanted to since the day you were taken from him. “i missed you so fucking much,” he whispered. you scolded him, telling him he shouldn’t be here… but— “i don’t care. i’m here to take my girl back.”
PARK SUNGHOON as PRINCE ADAM ( BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ) !
when you first found yourself at the beast’s—no, sunghoon’s, castle—demanding that he let your father go, you would admit that you almost turned and ran for the hills at the sight of his beastly form. he was the image of the monsters that you read about in all those books you buried your nose in all day, the ones that you lost yourself to fantasy with. but the longer you remained in his care, the more you realised just how much lay beneath the surface of a supposed beast. the way he had so awkwardly tried to pull your chair out for your on the first night you had dinner together, the way he was so hesitant to grasp your hands when you danced, as if too scared he might shatter it; the way he so willingly threw himself before an arrow just to make sure it didn’t touch you…
you called his name with falling tears, watching as he lay limp on the ground before you. his small huffs of annoyance were never so missed as they were now, instead replaced by silence as you continued to shake his lying form, his blood staining your dress. you never even got to say thank you, to tell him you didn’t mean it when you said he was an insufferable and intolerable beast—and now, you would never have the chance again… or so you thought. as you rested your head against his unmoving chest, wallowing in the grief that washed over you like a tidal wave, you failed to notice as the beast you came to knew started to shift into a man, his bare chest healed of any wounds because of the love that you shed in your precious tears. it wasn’t until a human hand cradled your cheek and lifted your face did you notice what had happened, and god was he beautiful—just as he was on the inside.
his lips were raised into a soft smile, and you heart leapt at the sight of small dimples poking his cheeks, and a pair of fangs that looked like a miniature version of the ones he had when he was a beast. “why are you crying?” he asked, his lips pressing a sweet kiss onto your forehead. “did you really think you would get rid of me that easily?” he cupped your face into his warm, large hands, his eyes bearing into yours. “silly girl… i’m too in love with you to leave.”

Poor Unfortunate Souls {Part 1/3 -> Part Of Your World}
Tumblr media
*All images found on Pinterest. Moodboard made by yours truly*
Dark! Ursula! Aemond x Fem! Eric! Reader x Ariel! Jacaerys
Warnings: Nothing in this chapter.. reader almost drowns but is saved. Daemon’s an asshole. *Divider from Firefly Graphics*
Synopsis: Jacaerys Velaryon, the reluctant heir to Atlantica. The moment he saw you, he knew he would never see someone who could capture him with their beauty again. You would haunt him eternally. In a desperate attempt to meet you, he turns to Aemond Targaryen, an outcast from the merfolk, to help him walk amongst the land dwellers. But when Aemond lays his eyes on you, he knows he has to have you. By any means necessary.
Part Two Jace's Ending Aemond's Ending
Tumblr media
Jacaerys Velaryon. The son of Queen Rhaenyra and the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantica, the home of the merfolk. An adventurous young merman, he was often found exploring sunken shipwrecks or the deepest sea caverns in search of treasures and trinkets…
Even when he was supposed to be attending his royal duties.
He couldn’t help it. He knew his mother wanted him to step up as her heir and become the prince he needed to be for his people, but he knew he wasn’t the prince they wanted. He wasn’t the prince they needed. He lacked the drive and ambition for ruling as king. He wasn’t interested in politics, or ruling over the merfolk.
In fact, he often felt conflicted between two worlds.
His home, the ocean, was where his family and his people were. And even though his four younger brothers and two sisters often drove him insane, he loved them dearly. And he loved his mother… his stepfather, Daemon, on the other hand, he barely even tolerated. He disliked how much of an influence he had over his mother, and how much power he held in the kingdom.
The other half of him, however, wished to be above the surface of the waves, where he could feel the full warmth of the sun, the softness of the sand on the shore and the cooling sea breeze…
He wanted to be where the people were.
Out of the water and living among them.
He knew it was outlawed to travel to the surface after his father, Harwin, was murdered by humans. He was incredibly young, barely over five years old, and his brothers Lucerys and Joffrey were too young to even remember, but that didn’t stop him from sneaking off to watch them from a distance. And besides, he was certain the kingdom was so against humans because Daemon seemed to loathe them, often spreading his rather false horror stories over humans and their prejudices against merfolk. There were even whispers of him trying to convince Rhaenyra to go to war with the surface world. Jacaerys disapproved of this, but knew his mother was wiser than that.
And while Jace certainly resented the humans who murdered his father, he knew not all humans were that cruel, just as not all merfolk were like Daemon. He still found himself greatly intrigued by the surface dwellers. Whether they were sailing on their great ships, or frolicking on the beach, or dancing… he wanted to try dancing…
But he knew he could never trade his tail for legs.
And so he spent his days exploring with his companion since birth, a fish with glittering olive green scales and bright orange fins called Vermax, eagerly taking any trinket or human object he could find at the bottom of the seabed or in a long abandoned shipwreck. He would take it to the surface to have it inspected by a seagull, Cannibal, before taking it to his secret grotto, a deep sea cavern where he stored his treasures.
He was often scolded by his mother for forgetting his duties, often arriving late or failing to show up at all sometimes, just like earlier in the week, when he failed to show up to a royal concert when he and Vermax had an unfortunate encounter with a shark while exploring a shipwreck. He had completely forgotten about the concert, going to Cannibal about the two interesting objects he’d found to add to his collection. When he had returned to rather sheepishly apologise to his mother, he had both her and Daemon lecturing him over duty and his careless and reckless behaviour whenever he opened his mouth to try.
It had even gotten to the point where Rhaenyra was now sending Syrax, her golden crab companion, to watch him and make sure he wasn’t getting into trouble, reporting back to her over whether he’d been to the surface. Jace had visited the surface world far less frequently as a result, only managing to do so when he out swam the crustacean. It wouldn’t surprise him if she sent his younger brother Lucerys or his uncle Aegon after him next. Or, heaven forbid, one of his sisters.
It was after one such scolding that Jacaerys found himself at his grotto, admiring his growing collection and daydreaming about being among the people on land. Being where he could walk, run, dance… where he could ask them the thousands of burning questions he had… where he could stay all day in the sun.
Where he could be part of their world.
He smiled to himself at the thought of walking on two legs, but found that fading into a disappointing frown as he looked down to see his tale, scales glittering scarlet and ebony in the fading sunlight.
Everyone assumed he had everything anyone could ever need in life. But he didn’t. He felt torn, ad though he didn’t belong under the ocean, but above the surface.
He wanted more than this.
He let out a soft exhale of disappointment, allowing himself to float down to the bottom of the cavern and landing on a slab of rock jutting out from the stone floor.
“I just wish to be part of that world, Vermax. Up there. All these treasures I have… they’re neat. And it seems as though I have everything… but it’s not enough. I want to live among them. I have everything I could ever need, and yet I want more…” He murmured, too caught up in his own thoughts to notice the stone entrance to his grotto sliding open.
A low whistle of mild impressment did, however, catch his attention, followed by a amused voice.
“Mother’s going to kill you.”
Lucerys was leaning against the closed entrance to the grotto, his arms crossed. Both Velaryon boys were rather similar, with dark curls and deep brown eyes. But Lucerys’ hair was shorter, and a slightly darker brown, and he had more black scales than Jacaerys, whose tail was mostly red, like their mother.
Jacaerys shot up, his cheeks slightly flushed. “Luke-“
“What is all of this stuff?” Luke asked, looking around the grotto rather amusedly.
“It’s… it’s just my… collection…”
“Impressive. I always wondered what you were doing when you constantly snuck away,” He mused. “But like I said, if mother finds out about this, you’re dead. She’s worried about you, always obsessing over the surface world and neglecting your duties...”
Jace rolled his eyes at his younger brother. Above him he heard a distant booming noise. Glancing up through the hole in the cavern roof where the surface of the water was visible, he saw a thousand colours light up the sky in a flurry of sparks and fizzing. He ignored his brother’s continued chattering, transfixed on whatever was happening in the world above.
“I told her that you were either crazy, or this is a just phase…”
“What do you suppose…?” Jacaerys muttered to himself, ignoring his brother’s teasing antics and swimming up to where the noise and bright flashing colours were coming from.
“But I didn’t realise you were this obsessed- where are you going? Jace! You can’t go up there! Humans are trouble! Mother said so!” Luke called after his brother, but he was already gone, Vermax hurrying after him. Luke glanced over at where Syrax was perched on a nearby ledge.
“So… should you follow him or should I?” He asked.
Syrax, realising Luke didn’t want to be the one to do so, hopped off the ledge and hurried after the older prince, who had now reached the water’s surface.
Jace gazed up in sheer awe at the great ship sailing towards him, the illuminating the night sky in a flurry of sparks in the most vibrant shades of scarlet, blue, emerald and gold. The sails billowed in the ocean winds, the largest of which was imprinted with what Jace could only assume was a royal sigil.
As Jace moved to get closer to the ship, he let out a yelp, feeling a sharp a pinch on his arm, Looking down to the culprit, he flicked Syrax off him and rubbed his arm, the skin slightly reddened from where the crab pinched him.
Diving back beneath the waves to move closer to the ship, Vermax hot on his tail. When he reached the great vessel, Jacaerys hoisted himself up and managed to climb up the side of the ship. He knew it was a risky move. If he was caught by the sailors, he would be captured or even killed. If was caught by his mother or Daemon… it might be even worse. But his curiosity had gotten the better of him.
He kept hidden in the shadows, peering through a gap on the side of the boat. There was cheering, dancing, drinking and singing, a celebration of sorts, and it somewhat relieved Jace that the sailors were probably too occupied with the festivities to notice him.
A sweet melody filled Jace’s ears as the sailors danced. A flute, he believed, was playing. He remembered reading about them in an old book he’d recovered from a shipwreck. He’d always imagined how their tune sounded, and he wasn’t disappointed.
He wasn’t sure what was being celebrated, but it seemed to be a most joyous occasion. Everyone seemed in the highest of moods and the most joyful of spirits. It was wonderful to see this side of the surface dwellers, and he couldn’t look away.
In fact, he was so entranced by the humans that he found himself jumping back in shock as a rather strange and hairy creature, a dog he believed came bounding over to him. He had read about them but had never seen them in person before, but it seemed friendly enough, sniffing him with interest and wagging its tail.
Jace smiled, rather tentatively reaching out to the animal, only to shrink back into the shadows as a female voice called out to the creature.
“Max! Here boy!”
Jace cautiously peered back around, his eyes widening as he laid eyes on who might possibly be the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
You.
He watched as Max eagerly bounded over to you, jumping up to lick your face in greeting. You laughed, gently pushing the dog away from you slightly and patting his head.
“Down boy. Good boy. C’mon what’s got you so excited?” You smiled, looking over in Jace’s direction and causing him to duck back into the darkness again. His cheeks were flushed pink, his mouth slightly agape. He knew if Luke were here, he would never hear the end of it. But after having seen numerous paintings and drawings of human women in books he’d found, as well as meeting with countless potential matches organised by his mother, be found that none of them, even the most notoriously beautiful mermaids, compared to you.
He found himself peering back around to admire you once again as you sat down with Max, rubbing the dog’s stomach and watching the ongoing celebrations. You were dressed rather simply in a white linen shirt with the top two buttons undone and a pair of blue breeches, a pair of black knee high leather boots on your feet. Your hair was down and loose, fluttering in the nightly see breeze.
You were absolutely beautiful.
A sudden loud screech to Jace’s side caused him to reluctantly tear his gaze away from you, sending the culprit a nasty glare.
“Quiet, Cannibal.” He hissed, not wanting to draw attention to his hiding place. Cannibal edged closer to Jace, seemingly wanting to see what- or who- had caught the young prince’s attention. When the bird laid eyes on you, he let out an even louder screech that sounded a little like a squawk of amusement, only to have Jace grab him by the beak to shut him up.
“I said quiet.” He shot the gull another glare before returning his focus to you. “I’ve never seen a human up this close before.” He breathed as he watched you play a small, cheerful melody on a flute, the flute he must have been hearing earlier, Max running around in circles around you as you twirled around, the both of you almost dancing together to the tune.
“She… she’s very beautiful…” He murmured, shooting yet another glare to the bird as he let out a slight muffled wheeze through his closed beak. Jace followed Cannibal’s gaze to where Max continued to dance around you. “No, not that thing.” He muttered, using the hand wrapped around Cannibal’s beak to move the bird’s head upwards to look at you. “The human.”
“Silence! Silence!” A man suddenly announced, his arms outstretched as he stood in the centre of the deck. “It is now my deepest honour and privilege to present our esteemed Princess Y/N with her birthday gift.”
“Y/N…” Jacaerys murmured dreamily, watching you step forward with a chorus of cheers from the crowd onboard. “Princess Y/N…”
The man stepped to the side to present a large object concealed by sapphire blue cloth and tied with a scarlet ribbon. “Happy birthday, Y/N.” He smiled, and with one tug on the ribbon, the cloth fell to reveal… a statue of you.
You were dressed in an extravagant gown, your arm raised in the air, your gleaming sword pointed towards the sky. Your expression was not warm as it was in reality, but one of hardened steel.
It was a warrior’s statue.
Jace tilted his head, his brows furrowing. The statue captured your beauty, that much was certain, but there was something missing from it. Maybe it was lacking your smile that sent a swarm of butterflies to erupt in his stomach, or the sparkle in your eyes. Whatever it was… it made the statue seem… unlike you.
“Wow… Grimsby you shouldn’t have.” Your voice sounded rather exasperated. “It’s… truly something to behold.”
Jace smiled. He could tell you were struggling to muster a compliment, but didn’t want to seem ungrateful.
“You like it?”
“It’s… really something…” You muttered, staring up at the statue, your lips pressed into a thin line and your eyes crinkled at the edges as you winced slightly, looking physically in pain at the sight of the gift. “Although it seems rather-“
“I commissioned it myself,” Grimsby declared rather proudly, his hand placed over his heart and making you immediately close your mouth. “Although… I had hoped it would be a wedding gift…”
“Oh don’t start, Grimsby,” You groaned, turning away from him and leaning on the side of the boat, just above where Jacaerys was hiding. “Are you really still sore that I rejected the proposal from that Dornish prince?”
“It isn’t just me, Y/N,” Grimsby sighed, stepping forward. “Your parents, the entire kingdom wishes for you to happily settle down with the right man-“
“Exactly, Grimsby! I need to find the right man,” You argued, sitting down on the side of the ship with one hand holding the rigging of the boat to prevent yourself from falling. “I know he’s out there somewhere. But I don’t want to marry for duty. I’ve always devoted myself to that. I want to marry for love. I want to find someone who… who has the same ambitions as me. Who… wants to see the world and sees past the fact I’m a princess. Someone who understands what it’s like to yearn to be out there exploring the world. Someone who understands freedom, and who wants to break free… and who understands that a part of me belongs out there in that world. Out there in the seas.”
Jace’s expression brightened at your words, his heart fluttering in his chest at you possibly sharing similar struggles to him.
It was like you were too good to be true.
That could be him… he could be that man for you…
“I’ll find him one day. He’s out there somewhere I… I just haven’t found him yet.”
“Well, perhaps you haven’t been looking hard enough.”
“Not helpful, Grimsby.” You grumbled, rising to your feet and looking out at the ocean, as black as the clouds brewing overhead. “Believe me, when I find him, I’ll know. Without a doubt.” Your words were firm, your expression one of clear resolve. “When I see him, it’ll… it’ll just hit me like… like lightning!”
No sooner did those words leave your mouth, you and Jace looked up as the deep growl of thunder rumbled overhead, a flash of lightning lighting up the sky.
“Hurricane!” A sailor yelled. “Stand fast! Secure the rigging!”
You immediately sprung into action, leaning forward to pull on the ropes as the waves lapped against the ship more aggressively than before, the wind whipping through your hair and rain beginning to pelt down from the sky as though the heavens themself were opening.
Jace grabbed ahold of the ship, failing to grab Cannibal as the gull was blown away by the wind torrents with a loud screech of protest. While the others focused on untying the lifeboats, Jace watched as you leaped up the stairs two at a time to reach the steering wheel of the ship that was spinning out of control, trying to stop the ship from capsizing into the water. A large surge of water passed over the ship, drenching you completely and those onboard.
Despite gripping onto the ship as tightly as he could, Jace soon found himself falling back into the water, barrels, crates and even the sailors following him beneath the surface. He swam upwards as quick as his tail could move, breaking through the surface to see a jagged flash of lightning hit the main sail of the ship.
Flames blazed through your royal seal emblazoned on the sail, burning through the cloth and spreading to the mast of the ship.
Jace gasped as he saw the ship uncontrollably heading towards a cluster of jagged rocks jutting out from the sea, you still at the wheel struggling to gain control of the ship. He wanted to scream at you, to climb onto the boat and help you steer the ship to safety, or to just grab you and get you off the ship, but he knew he couldn’t. He watched with a horrified expression as the ship rammed against the rocks, throwing more sailors and cargo, including you and the statue, overboard and into the depths below. The mast snapped, falling forwards and spreading the fire to the rest of the ship.
Jacaerys swam forward to see you help Grimsby onto the lifeboat to join several other of your crew mates. He felt a small sigh of relief to see you safe as you hauled yourself into the small boat, but it the feeling was short lived as you frantically looked around the small cluster of life boats, your gaze ultimately returning to the raging inferno consuming the ship.
“Max!”
No, no, no, no.
You couldn’t go back.
Jace couldn’t watch you do that.
To risk your life and possibly lose it.
He followed you as you swam back to the burning ship, hauling yourself back onboard to save your beloved dog.
“Jump, Max! Come on, you can do it. Come on, boy, just jump!” You desperately cried out to the animal, unable to move further forward thanks to the flames and the collapsed mast.
Jace squinted, trying to see you through the billowing smoke, his breath caught in his throat. As he saw your silhouette emerge through the smoke, he released the breath he was holding, but it got caught in his throat as your foot suddenly fell through the deck and out of his sight.
Max fell off the boat and into the sea where he was pulled onto the lifeboat by the surviving sailors, who cried out to you as you desperately tried to free yourself from where your foot was stuck, the flames flickering higher and higher around you, the smoke filling your lungs and choking you from any oxygen.
You managed to loosen your foot enough to pull it out of your boot as the inferno raged on, but it proved feeble as a barrel of gunpowder rolled past you and into the flames. As soon as the ship exploded, Jacaerys surged forward to where the ship wreckage was sinking beneath the waves, frantically looking around for any sight of you, the flames providing enough light for him to see clearly. Upon seeing no sight of you, he rose back to the surface. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw you, unconscious, balanced on a plank of wood from the deck. No sooner did he see you, the violent waves caused you to slip from the plank and under the water.
As you sank deeper and deeper, Jacaerys swam after you, managing to grab ahold of you and heading in the direction of the shore. He made sure to keep your head above the water so you could hopefully breathe, not even caring whether you were dead or alive at that moment. He just needed to get you to safety.
His arms ache as he finally reached the shallows, struggling to drag both you and himself onto the beach. He cradled you in his arms, his chestnut eyes scanning your form for any sign of life. For any slight twitch, any movement, any breath. Yet your eyes remained closed, your skin pale and your mouth slightly agape.
“Is she… dead?” The word almost got caught in Jacaerys’ throat as he turned to where Cannibal landed beside them on rather shaky legs.
Please don’t be dead… please don’t be dead…
“She… she can’t be dead…” Jace murmured, a finger gently opening one of your eyes. Upon seeing them up close, he realised how beautiful your eyes were. Cannibal hopped between you and Jace, pressing his head against your foot, letting out a small, sorrowful caw.
“Wait… wait look! She’s breathing!” Jace exclaimed as you let out a small exhale, your chest beginning to gently rose and fell. He sent a small disapproving look to Cannibal. “You know that’s not where they breathe, right?” He muttered as Cannibal leaped the air and landed on a nearby rock.
Jace rolled his eyes, looking back to where your breaths were becoming less shallow and more even. “She’s so beautiful…” He whispered as he looked down at you. Your clothes were torn, and one of your boots was gone, your dripping wet hair plastered over your forehead. Jace reached over to gently brush it away from your face.
As his hand moved to gently caress your cheek, he found himself humming a small tune his mother used to sing to him at night. It was an old tune from generations long since passed, sung in an ancient language that was no longer spoken by merfolk other than the royal family, although Jace’s was a little rusty at best after missing so many lessons. It was a lullaby that always soothed him after a night terror when he was young.
His humming soon evolved into him softly singing the song, and a smile spread onto his face as he saw your eyelids flutter and open ever so slightly, your soft, small hand reaching up to place over his. When your hand made contact with his, Jace felt his heartbeat quicken, his skin feeling as though it were on fire from your touch.
A loud bark made him flinch back away from you, spotting Grimsby and Max on the horizon. He dived into the water as the dog bounded over to you, eagerly greeting you by slobbering on your face as you slowly sat up, one hand- the hand that touched Jace’s- resting on the side of your head as you groggily looked around.
“Y/N! Oh thank goodness,” Grimsby breathed in relief, his hand reaching into his pocket and taking out his slightly damp handkerchief, which he used to dab his clammy forehead. “You really delight in these sadistic strains on my blood pressure, don’t you?” He muttered, leaning down to help the princess to her feet. “Are you alright, my dear?”
“I… I saw… a boy. He… he rescued me…” You muttered, one hand still clutching your head as you regained your balance. “He was singing to me. He had the most beautiful voice…” You trailed off, swaying slightly.
”Oh, Y/N,” Grimsby sighed. “I think you’ve swallowed a bit too much seawater.”
“No, I saw him.” She protested, looking out at the shore. “I heard him.”
“Of course you did, my dear,” Grimsby sighed, wrapping an arm over the girl’s shoulders. “Come on. Off we go. Come along, Max- Max! What is that dog barking at now?”
“Max!” You called out, followed by a sharp whistle that got the dog’s attention from where he was barking in Jace’s direction, the prince hiding behind a rock.
As you, Grimsby and Max left the small beach and headed towards your castle, Jace watched you go, Cannibal perched on the rock in front him.
“I don’t know when, I don’t know how… but watch and you’ll see, someday I’ll be part of that world. I know I will be!” He declared to his feathered companion, a steely determination set in those deep brown eyes of his. “No matter what it takes.”
A short distance away, Jacaerys was being watched by an ancient beast. A large, bronze eel, one eye a glittering green and the other glowing a vibrant sapphire blue. She watched him silently for a moment before dipping beneath the surface to return to her master.
It was only a matter of time before the young prince sought him out.

“You summoned me, mother?”
Queen Rhaenyra smiled fondly at her second born son as perched regally on her throne, her golden trident, the source of her power passed down from her father, resting beside her.
“Yes, Lucerys. I wished to ask you about your brother.”
“J-Jacaerys?” Luke stammered.
“Yes. I tasked you with watching over him but you have yet to report back to me. Your sisters have noticed certain things…”
“O-oh?”
“Apparently he’s to himself, daydreaming even more than usual, not swimming to sunken shipwrecks looking for trouble… it’s almost as though something has consumed his mind completely.”
“Well… he seems normal to me mother.” Lucerys chuckled nervously, making Rhaenyra raise an eyebrow.
“Rhaena and Baela said he swam past them in very high spirits this morning, putting flowers in their hair and singing to himself.”
“Well… well I-“
“Lucerys, I know you’re keeping something from me, sweet one.”
“Ke-keeping something, mother? I would never.”
“Really? Because Rhaena and Baela told me something else rather interesting.”
“They… they did?”
“About Jacaerys… his mood. His high spirits and his daydreaming. It’s as though he’s come alive. I’ve seen the signs before, both in myself and others.”
“You… have seen what?” Luke visibly gulped as Rhaenyra beckoned him closer.
“Isn’t it obvious? Jacaerys is in love, is he not? Or at least infatuated?”
“I… I don’t know mother-“
“Come now, Luke. I understand that you and Jace are at that age where you don’t feel the need to tell me everything, but this is important…”
Luke felt face flush slightly. If Rhaenyra found out, she’d be furious. But what would be worse is if Jace got captured, or killed.
“Mother… I do not know-“
“I only wish to know who the lucky mermaid is…”
“Mother-“
“Or merman perhaps? He is rather good friends with Cregan of the Arctic waters, is he not?”
“I- I wouldn’t know, I-“
“Unless you simply do not wish to fulfil the task I have given you and have been neglecting your duty-“
“I tried to stop him mother!” Lucerys suddenly exclaimed, making Rhaenyra raise her eyebrows in slight surprise at her son’s outburst.
“Stop him? From what?” Rhaenyra’s expression changed from one of mild amusement to immediate concern.
“I tried to stop him from doing it but he never listens to me. Just because he’s older, he thinks he can swim to the surface even though I warned him about the humans-“
“Humans? What about humans?” Rhaenyra demanded, gripping her trident harshly and making Luke stop in his tracks.
“Hu-humans? Why mother, who said anything about humans?” He chuckled, glancing away from his mother.
“Luke…” Rhaenyra warned, rising from her throne. “What has your brother been doing? Tell me. Now.”
“I… I don’t know what happened mother. He saw these flames in the sky and he followed them to the surface. I tried to stop him, I promise I did. When he returned the next morning he was a completely different person. Happier. And yet somehow more annoying-“
“Luke…”
“Anyway,” Lucerys cleared his throat. “I asked him what happened and… and…”
“And what? And what, Luke?”
“He said he’d saved… a human…” Lucerys muttered. “A princess.”
“He saved a human? Those murderous savages.” A voice spoke from the shadows.
Lucerys felt his heart sink as he realised he’d failed to notice Daemon’s presence, too focused on trying to protect his brother’s secret from their mother.
“I…” For once, Lucerys had found himself at a loss for words.
“I think that’s everything we need Lucerys… you may leave.” Daemon ordered, but Lucerys stood his ground.
“No. I want to know what you’ll do-“
“Luke, go to your chambers.”
“But, mother-“
“Lucerys. Go.” The sternness of Rhaenyra’s words and the fire within her eyes made Lucerys reluctantly comply, swimming off with his heart sinking at what he’d done.
“Humans? Love? He’s going to get himself killed.” Rhaenyra sighed, looking over at her husband. “What do you suggest I do?”
“The only way we can save Jacaerys is if we rid him of these absurd thoughts. We need to act quickly.”
“I do not want to push him away more than I already have.” Rhaenyra said as Daemon swam over to her, resting a hand on her shoulder.
“If we don’t act now, you’ll lose him to the surface. You of all people know what they do to our kind. He’s your heir, Rhaenyra. Your first born son. To protect him, we may need to hurt him.”
“But, Daemon-“
“Do you want him to resort to extreme solutions like your brother did? Do you want him to suffer that same fate as Aemond? Or turn to him for a solution?”
“Jacaerys isn’t like Aemond in any way. He is not cruel, or cunning like him. He would never seek him out. He knows better.”
“For now.” Daemon replied. “But love can cloud and deceive the mind in ways that can make the greatest of men fall.”
Tumblr media
“Vermax, what’s going on?” Jace asked as the small fish attempted to herd him in the direction of the grotto. Jace rolled the stone away, moving forward to enter, but his companion stopped him in his tracks, swimming right up go his face and turning, flicking his tail into Jace’s eyes.
“Ouch! Vermax,” Jace rubbed his eyes, wincing slightly at the small sting. “Okay, it’s that important of a surprise.” He sighed, complying with Vermax’s wishes. “If you wanted me to close my eyes you could just ask nicely.” He muttered, feeling himself being gently nudged slowly into the grotto, his arms held out in front of him in case Vermax decided to steer him into a wall. Again.
Jace had been in his grotto so many times he knew where he was when Vermax moved in front of him again, this time flicking him on the hand to stop him in his tracks.
“Really? Again?” Jace sighed. “At least it was more gentle that time.” He muttered. Vermax nudged his hand, and Jace opened his eyes, letting out a small gasp at the sight in front of him.
There, placed in the centre of his grotto, the new centrepiece of his treasure collection… was your statue. He turned to the small fish, a wide smile growing on his face.
“You’re the best, Vermax,” He grinned, swimming over to the statue. “It’s perfect. How… how did you find this- how did you get this in here?” He asked. “Nevermind, I know I’ll never find out. Oh gods, it’s perfect- she’s perfect. It looks just like her- well, her eyes have more sparkle in real life, and they’re kinder too…”
He swam circles around the statue, analysing every angle. “It really is a work of art,” He murmured, a hand reaching up again to rest on the statue’s stone cold cheek. “If only it were real. Then we could run away from all our troubles… and find a place where we can belong. Don’t you think that would be the best thing, Verm-“ As he turned to address his closest friend, he was instead greeted by the face of his mother. A face that was half concealed by shadows and that was twisted in both sorrow and fury.
“M-mother. I can explain-“
“I think everything is quite clear to me, Jacaerys,” Rhaenyra interrupted, swimming out of the shadows, golden trident glinting in the fading light. Jace felt himself wince at the harshness of her tone when she spoke his full name.
“I consider myself a reasonable mermaid. A reasonable queen. And a reasonable mother,” She continued, her voice although soft in volume, was also cold in time. “I set certain rules to protect my people. To protect you. And I expect those rules to be followed.”
”But, mother, it’s not what you thi-“
“Is it true you rescued a human from drowning?” She demanded. Jace felt his mouth dry up. She knew? Luke… or Syrax, somehow?
“I… I had to. She… she would have died…”
“Contact between the human and mer worlds is strictly forbidden. You know this, everyone knows this. And I thought you of all people should understand this.”
“She would have died mother!”
“And that would only be one less human to worry about,” Daemon spoke up, emerging from the shadows behind Rhaenyra.
“You don’t even know her!” Jace protested, placing himself in front of your statue, as though he was protecting you.
“Know her?” Daemon let out a mocking laugh. “We don’t need to know her.” He snarled. “Humans, they’re all the same. Spineless, savage, harpoon, fish- eaters who are incapable of any feeling-”
“I love her.” Jacaerys blurted out, stopping Daemon in his tracks and making Rhaenyra’s expression morph into one of horror.
“No…” She breathed. “No, Jacaerys it… it cannot be true… have… have you lost your senses completely? You haven’t even met her! She’s human.”
“And you’re a merman.” Daemon sneered.
“I don’t care.” Jace retorted defiantly. “I’ll find a way.”
“Jacaerys, so help me, please do not escalate this.” Rhaenyra warned.
“Escalate it? What can you do mother? I’m not a child anymore!”
“We clearly aren’t getting through to him,” Daemon said. “You know what you have to do, Rhaenyra.”
“W-what’s he talking about, mother?” Jace asked, backing up so he was blocking the statue completely, a weary edge to his tone.
“I need to get through to you Jace,” Rhaenyra’s voice was solemn. “And if this is the only way…” She looked away from her son, raising her arm so the trident was pointing to an upper shelf of the grotto. “…So be it.”
“Mother, don’t!” Jace exclaimed, the realisation finally dawning on him. But it was too late. The trident was now glowing with lightning and flames, casting the grotto in a harsh orange light. Beams shot from the trident, perfectly landing on their targets.
His entire book collection? Gone.
His paintings, his jewellery collection, his candlesticks and compass? Reduced to dust.
Everything, from his gadgets and gizmos to his whozits and whatzits, were completely destroyed.
“Mother, mother please stop,” Jacaerys pleaded, desperately grabbing onto Rhaenyra’s arm, his eyes glassed over with tears threatening to spill at any moment.
But he wasn’t going to give Daemon the satisfaction of letting them fall.
“Mother- mother no, please no!” He yelled, following her gaze to where she aimed the trident at your statue, reducing it to rubble mere seconds later.
Jace let go of his mother, letting himself float to the grotto floor in front of where your statue was standing so proudly moments ago.
Rhaenyra, tore her gaze away from her eldest son, quickly swimming away from the irreparable damage she’d caused, both to herself and Jace. She too didn’t want to let the cracks show. Daemon stayed where he was, admiring the destruction of the treasures created by the beings he despised so.
“If you truly loved the humans, Jacaerys, if you truly wanted to be where you belong, you should go to them,” He said coldly, cruelly. “Because you certainly don’t belong here.”
As Daemon swam from the grotto, followed by his companion, a blood red moray eel called Caraxes, Jace finally let the tears spill, his chest heaving with the sobs that racked through his body.
“Jace…”
“Go away.”
“Jace, I’m sorry-“
“Sorry? Sorry that she destroyed everything?” Jace exclaimed, turning to glare at his younger brother. “Look what she did Luke. Look what Daemon made her do.” He turned away again as his voice cracked, another wave of realisation hitting him that his pride and joy, his wonderful collection that had taken him years to put together, was gone.
And your statue along with it.
“Jace, I didn’t know this was going to happen. I thought you might get in trouble and-“
“Just go away,” He whispered.
Luke hung his head low, reluctantly leaving his brother alone and joining Syrax, Vermax and Arrax, an infant ray who shimmered a pearl white, with the exception of his golden underside and eyes to match. Like Vermax, he was not yet fully grown.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t leave him, and… I hate seeing him like this, annoying as he is. It’s all Daemon’s fault, that son of a-“ Lucerys’ ranting was cut off as Syrax pinched his lips between her claw. Before he could prize her off him, a large shadow loomed over the group, and the three sea creatures ushered the younger prince behind a rock, hiding him from sight.
It was an eel, but it was considerably larger than Caraxes, by two times at least. She looked more like some ancient sea serpent, for she was an ancient creature. Her bronze scales that once gleaned brightly had dulled with age, but her eyes still gleamed just as bright, as did the small clusters of blue and green streaked along the top and underside of her body. One eye was a vibrant green, like grass in the height of springtime. The other was an unnaturally vibrant blue, glowing brightly in the night like a sapphire.
Vhagar was surely an fearsome sight to behold.
Lucerys watched the beast slither into the grotto. He went to follow her, but Syrax stopped him by pinching his side.
“I can’t let him be eaten, can I?” He hissed, rubbing the reddened skin. “I have to do something!” He protested, but Syrax and Arrax blocked his path adamantly. Even Vermax was more focused on keeping the younger prince hidden than going to Jace, grabbing long stems of kelp and dropping them over Luke, who brushed them off him immediately.
“You have to let me help him? It’s just some old eel, right?”
Tumblr media
Jacaerys had wiped his eyes, but was still staring down at the rubble, not wanting to lift his head to be greeted with the sight of his former grotto, once a proud collection, now reduced to nothing. He didn’t want to cry again.
He let out a deep, shaking breath, trying to slow his hammering heart and calm the tremble in his hands. And yet every time he closed his eyes, all he saw was the princess he saved.
“Mijegindita riña… Mijegindita dōna riña…”[Poor child… poor sweet child…]
Jace’s head shot up to be greeted with the sight of Vhagar circling him like a constrictor about to suffocate it’s prey, her blue eye glowing violently in the darkness. He recognised the language as High Valyrian, the ancient language of merfolk. But he was far from a fluent speaker. In fact, he was rather terrible.
“I-I’m sorry I… I don’t fully understand…”
“It seems as though you have a very serious problem… if only there was something that could be done…”
The beast continued, this time in a modern tongue. Her voice was more of a deep, ancient rumble, coming from within. She didn’t move her mouth when she spoke, but Jace saw the glinting of those dagger like teeth. It was as though she were a vessel for someone else to speak to him. As though someone was speaking through her.
“Perhaps there is something that could be done for you…” Vhagar continued, circling closer and closer around Jace, turning her head towards him so he could clearly see her in the silvery glow of the moon above.
“I… I know you…” Jace breathed, and she retreated back into the inky murkiness of the shadows. “But that’s impossible… you… you and him… you were both banished… after what happened with- with Luke…”
He was only young when his uncle Aemond was banished, and Lucerys was too young to properly remember everything, but the memories still stuck with the elder prince vividly. He remembered the glint of the blade in the torchlight, he remembered Lucerys lunging at Aemond, and the young man’s screams wailing through the kingdom.
That was many years ago. Over a decade.
“Don’t be scared…” The voice spoke. “I represent the person who can help you. Someone who can make all your dreams come true…”
“I don’t think-“
“Just imagine-“ The voice cut him off, Vhagar’s head slithered past him, that piercing blue eye focused entirely on the prince. “You and your princess. Together, forever.” There was a slight mocking edge to the voice as it spoke, making Jace frown.
“No… no I can’t.” Jace faltered, knowing the offer, although tempting, was surely tainted with something far more sinister in return.
“Aemond has become incredibly powerful. He can use his power to help you...”
That stopped Jace in his tracks. He’d heard the rumours of his depraved uncle turning to dark magic in his exile. Some said he’d saught out the sea witch, Alys Rivers, who had mysteriously vanished months after his banishment.
“No I... I couldn’t possibly go to him. No. Get out of here! Leave me alone!” He exclaimed, lunging forwards and out of Vhagar’s reach to sit on one of his now empty ledges and facing away from the beast.
”Suit yourself,” The voice said as Vhagar retreated. “It was only a suggestion.” As she left, her tail flicked upwards, causing your statue’s face, still somehow intact unlike the rest of the statue, to land beside Jace. He reached over and picked it up, cradling it in his arms, Daemon’s words echoing over and over again in his mind.
“If you truly loved the humans, Jacaerys, if you truly wanted to be where you belong, you should go to them…”
“…Because you certainly don’t belong here.”
And for once, Jacaerys agreed with Daemon.
He was his mother’s heir, and yet he had no qualities of being a king. He wasn’t studious, or particularly charismatic in the eyes of the people. He did his royal duties when he remembered, but he had never aspired to be a king.
He remembered every little slip up, every time he’d been late to an event, every time he’d disappointed his mother and his siblings. Even little Viserys and Aegon could do a better job that he could. Even Luke with his mischievous ways, and young Joffrey, carried out their tasks to perfection. And his sisters, Baela and Rhaena were born to lead.
He wasn’t born for that.
He didn’t belong.
When he watched you on that ship, when he watched the people celebrate your birthday, and dance and sing and tell stories, he felt more at home. Like he could belong.
Daemon was right.
His mind was made up.
He was going to see Aemond.
“Wait!” He called out, and Vhagar’s face loomed into view once again.
“Take me to him.”
A/N: I know, I know, and I’m sorry to the Aemond girlies who are disappointed he didn’t show up. But I can promise you that he will be centre stage throughout most of Part Two

Prince Eric Taking You on a Beach Date
Pairing: Prince Eric x Fem!Reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, teasing, kissing, swimming, cuteness overload, shy!Reader
A/N: I just need to get this out of my system okay?!
Tumblr media
Beach dates are your go to on sunny days, or even on cloudy days if its warm enough
Eric takes his shirt off as soon as you get there
He's long past the stage where this is embarrassing for him but you're a different story
You don't have to avert your eyes you know, you can both look and touch
There's something about you being so easy to tease that activates his playful side so fast
Long walks on the beach happen almost every night after it gets a little cooler but during the day you're at his favorite spot, him reading through books as he enjoys the sun and your hands combing through his hair
You've been caught sleeping in the sand a few times now, always locking hands and running off in the other direction of the guards
When Eric gets into the water its hard to pull him away, the Prince only doing do when it's you who calls him
Maybe a little childish but at least you know he's unable to resist your cute charms
There's enough food in the picnic basket for a whole family, you never finish it but you spend the rest of it on the little sea animals and birds
Lately the two of you started giving them names

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
Regina Mills x fem!reader

Chapter 2: The Little Mermaid is my Sister-In-Law?
10 years later
There, in that god forsaken hospital, you sat with him.
Henry Daniel.
If there was one kid in the world who you adored above everyone else, it was Henry. So kind, so innocent.
“You’re princess of the Maritime Kingdom, see?” he once said.
You were sitting at your desk while he waited for his mother to get out of a meeting when he came over and started talking about his book.
“And this is your brother, Prince Eric!”
“What, like from The Little Mermaid?” He nodded. “So, Princess Ariel is my sister-in-law?” you asked.
He grinned. “Exactly.”
You held his storybook in your hands, having traded off shifts with Mary-Margaret just a half hour before to read to him.
“His favorite story is Snow White,” she had told you. “I just finished reading it to him, but I don’t think he’ll mind hearing it again.”
“Thank you, Mary-Margaret,” you smiled before hugging her. “Get home safe. Goodnight.”
When Mary-Margaret had left, you sat in the chair beside the bed and chose a random page–a story you had never even recognized but somehow felt familiar.
“Perhaps the Queen could be saved,” you read. “Perhaps true love could rid her of her darkness. So, that’s what the fairy did.” The illustration on the page depicted a blonde woman in green, ‘Tinkerbell’ she was called, who took the Queen’s hand and flew to a far away land. “In the window was a princess. “That girl there, with the star-shaped birthmark on her wrist, that’s your soulmate,” Tinkerbell said. “She’ll bring you happiness like no other.” The Queen wanted to believe her, but what would she be without her anger and resentment?”
You looked down at the page where a familiar sight lay. The birthmark. The exact same birthmark you possessed on your wrist. But how could it be possible? This is the real world. Soulmates don’t exist and magic certainly doesn’t either. But, could Henry be right? Could the dreams you’ve been having be memories? Relics of your past life in a land that is no longer?
“Henry,” you whispered, closing the book. “I know you can’t hear me, but–”
Your words were cut off by rapid beeping on the monitor. “What’s happening? Dr. Whale!” you shouted right as the glass doors of the ICU burst open and you were ushered out.
__________
“Thank you.” You smiled at the server as a plate of pancakes and bacon was set in front of you.
It was a long and sleepless night. You were on your third cup of coffee and it was only eight in the morning. So many thoughts ran through your head. The birthmark. The Maritime Kingdom. Your brother. Every dream you had experienced about this strange land. With each bite of your breakfast, it became harder and harder to swallow. You wanted to cry, to scream, to leave this world and go back to the world that you were apparently so happy in. And, as if your wish was granted by a shooting star, everything stopped in a rush.
You looked around the diner and noticed everyone looked dazed and confused. Standing up, you threw a twenty down on the table and rushed out the door. You had to find your brother. You had to find your family. You had to find Regina.
Henry was right.

This Ariel is a Headutt-er!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x alien!fem!reader (Mantis and Peter Quill's younger sibling)(reader is the same species as Mantis)
Warnings : A wee bit of violence
Summary: Instead of Prince Eric, it was Ariel herself who swept you off your feet.
Aurhor's note: everyone is alive in all my fics, except if a specific setting or timeline is mentioned
This is a fic requested by @fayhar ! I'm so sorry it took me so long to finish this, I got too caught up with classes. But it's summer break now and I can finally write again! Hope you like this fic! English isn't my first language so please point out the mistakes nicely, I'll fix it 🥲
Tumblr media
It all started when Yondu handed Peter a DVD that he had obtained from Earth.
The cover of the DVD box read 'The Little Mermaid' with a picture of what looked like a girl who is half Terran and half fish with bright red hair.
It was the first time the gang ever watched an animated movie during movie night and everyone had different reactions. Drax made silly comments, Rocket complained about certain scenes, Peter would place a kiss on the crown of Gamora's head during the more romantic scenes, and she would cuddle closer to him, Mantis and Groot were gushing about the little details and Nebula, surprisingly, seemed to enjoy the movie.
And you? You were enchanted by the whole thing, from the dinner scene, to the little fair date and boat ride. From all catchy songs and romantic lines to the heartbreaking conflicts ang the heroic fights.
You laughed, you cried, and you were undeniably HOOKED.
And let's just say with a little bit of begging (and using your big black puppy eyes), you managed to convince your brother to get Yondu to find more of these wonderful films.
You would consume every single thing that Yondu could get his hands on in a crazy short amount of time. Mantis would find you huddled up into a little ball on the couch in the middle of the night, eyes gleaming like a little child as you watched whatever new DVD that Yondu had gotten his hands on.
From old Disney movies like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, to the more modern ones like Tangled and Frozen, you had seen them all.
But alas, 'The Little mermaid' is the one that holds your heart.
And as result of all the Disney that you've been slurping up, you eventually found yourself wondering if you're going to get your happy ending.
When is a prince Eric coming to sweep you off your feet? Take you on carriage rides and dancing at carnivals? Are you even going to get a happy ending?
Your brother told you there is someone for everyone in the galaxy.
"And when you meet them.....You'll know it."
He'd said, as he looked at Gamora with a warm loving gaze.
You found it hard to believe.
You'll know it when you meet them? How???
You were skeptical.
Until one day when the Guardians got invited to a party by Tony Stark himself, did you find yourself staring at a certain woman.
It was nearly midnight, the music was still blaring loudly and you found yourself getting a little too overwhelmed, so you decided to flee the scene to catch some fresh air.
You stepped outside, eyes closed as you feel the cool wind gently brush against your skin. You had expected that the party was going to be a little too much for you, but what you hadn't expected was for there to be someone else at the balcony.
This 'someone else' was a woman, and beautiful one at that. She was wearing a black cocktail dress, the fabric hugging her body in all the right places. Her fiery red mane was curled to perfection, the luscious tendrils framed her face like puzzle pieces that fell perfectly into place.
Ariel.
That was the first word that came to your mind.
Her eyes were closed, lengthy eyelashes fluttered in the wind, and she huffed out a deep sigh, seemingly bothered by whatever it is that's on her mind.
You reached out to place a hand on her shoulder, aiming to calm her down and maybe make her feel a little more at ease with the help of your powers.
But the slight brush of your fingertips against her skin was enough to make you end up on the cold ground. With your wrists pinned to the hard surface nonetheless.
Your antennaes tensed, the gears in your head were running miles per hour, one second you were reaching out and the next thing you know you had been headbutted onto the floor into a vulnerable position.
With your mind still spiralling, you spat out the first thing in your mind.
"H-hello! A-are you Ariel?"
What?
It looked like your question had taken the woman aback, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Did this bitch with antennaes just ask her if she was a Disney character?
"Am- Am I who??"
"A-ariel?"
You had no idea what's going on, but you were somehow very, very intrigued by the woman on top of you.
The woman looked at you up and down at your attire.
Party wear.
It took her a second before she realized that you were just one of the people invited tonight, and she quickly apologized.
"Sorry about that, my fight or flight reflexes just kicked in. And to answer your question, no, I am not Ariel. "
She chuckled in amusement when she saw you slightly deflate.
"Aw... Bummer"
You had mumbled to yourself, earning another chuckle from the redhead beside you.
You both stayed silent for a while after that, blocking out the muffled music playing inside and relishing in the peaceful night atmosphere outside.
"So...You're really not Ariel?"
Her head turned to look you, elbow on the balcony railing with her chin resting on ther palm.
"Sorry to dissapoint you, but no, I'm not."
The small pout that appeared on your lips made her smile.
The both of you started to pick on some random topics to talk about. Your jobs, hobbies, crime cases, outer space, everything you could possibly imagine.
Natasha could feel the click and so could you, the both of you felt a lot more settled than expected.
"So...Are you going to tell me your name"
You paused, you had completely forgotten to tell her your name. She let out a breathy laugh as you come to the realization.
"My name's Y/n, I'm one of the Guardians."
you shyly mumbled, hand fiddling with an antennae, a sign that you're embarassed, it's a little habit you've had ever since you were a young bug.
"Y/n huh? I like that."
The way your name rolled off her lips made you slightly dizzy, it sounded good, way too good, enchanting even.
"Don't you want to know my actual name?"
Your ears perked up at that.
"It's Natasha, Natasha Romanoff."
"Wow..."
It was even prettier than you expected it to be, and it fits her a lot. Her voice kept repeating in your mind, and it won't go away.
The echo of her beautiful name.
Natasha Romanoff, Natasha Romanoff, Natasha Romanoff....
"Do you like my name that much?"
"Huh?"
"You've been saying my name in repeat for a while now."
yikes.
"And your face is all red"
double yikes.
Your antennaes drooped as you fidget in place, eyes looking anywhere but at her. Your mind was spinning, everything was going at full speed in there, you didn't know what to think, what to say, what to do, it was all so fast to the point where everything was a blur.
Seeing you panicking like this made her chuckle. Sure she knew she's got an effect on people, and she never really cared about them.
But what you're failing to see here is that you had just as much of an effect on her. The way you looked so attentively at her whenever she speaks, as if absorbing every single word with such care and warmth, the way your eyes gleam when you asked if she's Ariel, down to the way you're panicking at her teasing right now, everything about you made her feel all warm. Comfortable even.
You're odd, but it only made her want to get to know you more.
Her slender fingers reached out, gently lifting your chin to make you look at her.
"Do you know that you're very strange?"
The sensors on your head drooped even further at that, is it because you're not a Terran? Is it because you look weird and have antennaes?
"I'm sorry I'm not a terran..."
Her eyebrows furrowed.
"What?"
"I'm not like you Natasha, I'm not terran..."
You felt her hands move to cup your face, and oh how you wish you could lean on them forever.
"Y/n, you've misunderstood, I meant it in a good way, and you're strange because, well, you're you. You're unique. And it has nothing to do with having antennaes or not. Though they do add to your scale of cuteness."
She laughed as your face started to flush once more, releasing your face to lean on the railing.
You don't know if you wanna slap that cheeky grin off her lips or kiss her it off instead, but your mind was once again all hazy.
Gosh, you're down bad.
Leaning onto the railing, you closed your eyes to calm yourself down, focusing on the cool night wind blowing at your face.
It felt nice and calming. What time is it? It's probably way past midnight, and with the soft wind cradling you, your mind was starting to slowly fall into rest.
Unbeknownst to you, Natasha had her eyes on you this whole time, and your dipping head landed onto her waiting palm, stopping you from headbanging onto the railing.
She carried you as your knees started to buckle, carefully placing you on the couch in the living room. She watched over you until the guardians decided that it was time to leave, they thanked her and walked out into the night with you still fast asleep on Gamora's back.
The twinge of jealousy that appeared was something unexpected.
Why is she jealous? Was it the fact that you seem so comfortable the zenwhoberian? Was it because she wanted to be the one you snuggle into? The one you're most comfortable with?
Whatever it is, she knew she must meet you again.
You woke up in a daze the next morning. How'd you end up back in your room? Weren't you talking with Natasha?
Where's Natasha?
The sound of the door creaking open put your thoughts to a pause.
"Y/n! Breakfast is ready!"
Peter walked in with a glass of water in his hand, handing it over for you to drink.
"What's on your mind? I can see the gears in your head turning you know?"
You placed the glass down on the nightstand before turning to face you brother.
"PETER!"
"Wha- why the shout?!"
"What did you do before you married Mora?"
A blink.
Another blink.
"Oh, I proposed."
"What's proposed?"
And that's how Peter ended up telling you the whole story of him going ring shopping.
"I wanna buy a ring!"
Peter choked on his own spit. Whom for?? When did you find a lover?
"I wanna propose to Natasha!"
And the next thing he knew, he was already dragged out of the door.
The day somehow ended with you bouncing on your feet outside the avengers compound, a panting Peter Quill right behind you.
You had requested to meet Natasha, and was currently waiting for her to come down the multiple floors of the tower.
Peter was still trying to catch his breath after running around non-stop for the whole day.
"Y/n *pant* you can't just-"
He was cut off by the sound of the elevator door opening, revealing the gorgeous red-headed woman of your dreams.
"Hey Y/n, what's up-"
"Marry me!"
The whole floor went silent. Until Peter awkwardly spoke up,
"Sorry, I really tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen."
When the redhead heard that you had come to give her a visit, she was much more excited than she would admit, her heart was pounding and she was in the elevator merely seconds after she heard the information, wanting to know why you were here again.
But a proposal from you was not something that she had expected.
"Marry me please Natasha?"
She looked at you standing there with puppy eyes, your hands presenting a red gemmed ring pop to her. This was certainly not something she gets to see everyday.
A hearty chuckle escaped her lips, and you deflated a bit, thinking that maybe she was mocking you. But your thoughts were dismissed when you feel a pair of soft lips pressed against your cheek.
"You're adorable you know that?"
You were frozen in place, did she just kiss you on the cheek?
What does this mean?
"As cute as this whole proposal was, I think I'll have to refuse it."
Your antennaes drooped in disappointment. You just got rejected.
"But instead..."
She placed her fingers on your chin.
"Let me take you out on a few dates first hm?"
Your mouth open and closed in wordless confusion.
"Date?"
"Yes date, we can go anywhere you'd like, how about that?"
Your eyes gleamed.
"Can we watch The Little Mermaid?"
She threw her head back laughing. Oh, could you be any cuter than you already are? But of course, she nodded and pulled you with her into the elevator. Leaving poor Peter to go back to the ship by himself.
Though he didn't mind, because seeing his sister so happy was worth it.
Maybe you'd have your happy ending after all, not with Prince Eric, but with beautiful badass Ariel instead.
And that's more than enough for you ❤️
Oh, and Thor asked for the ring pop, and you gave it to him. Thor is happy. Good job!

said i'd have more to request and here's another one.
Prince Eric x Fem!Reader, we know Eric's love for the ocean.. so what if while he was a child around four. he saw a mermaid around the same age as him peek her head up from the ocean curiously.. to only quickly duck down when he saw them. the mermaid is y/n..
and a small friendship grew between the two in secret, eric promised to keep it a secret. eventually, y/n stopped appearing all of a sudden.. and eric eventually forgot about them.
until around the time the film takes place when he's 21..something seemed familiar about the girl who suddenly appeared and couldn't speak something about them just seemed so familiar.
A/N: I love your request much, thank you for sending them in, and sorry it took so long <3
His Little Mermaid : Prince Eric
Tumblr media
The human world had always fascinated you even if your parents forbid you from going up there. You had found a spot semi-below the surface where you could watch the passing ships and see the humans. One night they had been shooting off fireworks which piqued your curiosity so you peeked your head out to watch not realizing someone had seen you.
"Whoa. You do exist." The voice said making you turn and see a boy about your age sitting there looking at you.
Panicked that you had been spotted after your parents told you not to be up here, you ducked your head back down and swam away much to his disappointment. The next few weeks you couldn't get him out of your mind....so the next time you saw a ship you swam to the surface and hopped into one of the lifeboats looking for him.
"You came back!" He said as he looked through the bars of the ship.
"I did. I'm sorry for running off like that last time, I'm not used to many humans." You said to him.
"It's alright. My name is Eric. What's yours?" He asked you.
"It's y/n but you can't tell anyone about me, I could get in trouble for being here." You said to him.
"As your friend, I promise not to tell a soul. Wait right here." He left there confused as he ran off but returned a few seconds later.
"I want you to have this as a symbol of our friendship and my promise." He said handing you a small mermaid figure.
"This is beautiful, thank you." You said as you placed it in your bag.
From that moment on you would always look for his ship and whenever you would see it, you would swim up to it and talk to him as the years went on you started to fall for him. But then one day when you went up to surface level and never went back to it again after what had happened, you had hated to just leave Eric like that but it hurt too much to go back up there.
Eric searched far and wide for you wondering why you had stopped coming to the surface level until one day he had just accepted that you were gone and weren't coming back and so he went on with his life.
*PRESENT DAY*
You still thought about Eric all the time wanting to see him again but could never bring yourself to go back to the surface level.
"I can help you my dear. To be with your human boy." She said as you looked at her confused.
"I whip up a little potion that gives you legs in exchange for your voice and then you'll have three days to kiss him to remain human or you'll be mine forever." She said.
"Okay." You said still not believing that you were agreeing to this over a boy you haven't seen in 20 years.
"3 days or you are mine forever!" Ursula said and the last thing you remember was barely making it to shore.
"The prince will be here soon." One of the maids said giving you a smile.
You smiled hoping that he would remember you and when he walked though those doors, he was even more dreamy than you remembered.
"You can't talk?" He asked sadly as you shook your head.
"I'm sorry you just remind me of someone I once knew." He said as you looked at him sadly.
"You're welcomed to stay here as long as you need." He said leaving you as the smile disappeared from your face.
The next day he took you through markets and for a boat ride where you guys laid looking at the stars.
"I still don't know your name." He said looking at you.
"It's begins with first letter of your name?" He asked you asked nodded your head.
"Y/n." He said after going through a few as you nodded your head
"Your name is y/n? I used to know someone with that name." He said sadly as you squeezed his hand.
"You remind me a lot of her." He said with a smile.
"I'm right here." You wanted to say to him.
"Goodnight y/n." He said with a smile.
You and Eric spent the next three days together constantly. He showed you his collection of things from his trips and it made you sad sometimes to realize how much you missed him growing up. You thought that today was gonna be the day you told Eric everything that was until you saw him and her together. You are so stupid to think he could fall in love with you, you were leaning over the balcony when you heard something break making you see the new girl's necklace break and an orb float towards you.
"Y/n." Eric said wrapping his arms around you.
"Eric there is something so much I need to tell you..." you said watching as the sunset.
"Y/n!" He said holding you to him as your legs were turned into a tail.
"You're too late!" Ursula said with a laugh before snatching you out of Eric's arms and diving into the ocean.
You guys fought Ursula, rescued the king and you got Eric back to shore. You laid there with him enjoying this moment with tears in your eyes as you knew this would be the last time you saw him.
"Goodbye Eric." You said sadly as you swam back into the water.
"Y/n! Y/N!" He screamed looking around for you not believing you were gone again.
You sighed as leaned up on the rock looking up at the castle and the fact that once again Eric was gone. You were foolish to even think that you could be a part of his world and hated that you were gonna have to leave and forget about him again.
"She really does love him huh?" King Triton asked Sebastian as they watched you leaning on the rock looking up at the castle.
"She does sir, I think after everything she's had to endure that maybe she should have a chance at happiness." He said.
King Triton agreed and pointed his staff towards you giving you legs, which made you turn and look at him as he nodded his head before you ran up to the castle hoping Eric would talk to you.
"Y/N?" He asked shocked as you handed him the figure he had given you when you were children.
"It's been me this entire time." You said to him.
"I never saw you again. What happened?" He asked you again.
"I had gone up to shore thinking it was you except it wasn't and I got my parents killed because of it. They hunted mermaids and they were gonna killed me until my parents came, they rescued me and they paid the ultimate price for it. After that I never returned to the surface, feeling guilty for what had happened. I'm sorry." You said to him.
"Oh my...y/n I didn't know. I'm so sorry I honestly thought you got bored of me and didn't want to be my friend anymore." He said.
"No, it's not that. I thought about you constantly but could never come to the surface after it. But then I saw you again and next thing I know I'm trading my voice for legs just to have a chance with the boy I fell in love with all those years ago." You said with a smile.
"He would like to have a chance with you as well especially now that you have a voice. He would like to explore the waters with you." He said looking at you with a smile.
You leaned up and pressed a kiss to his lips, feeling him wrap his arms around you and pull you closer to him as he kissed you.

kiss the girl! (y/n’s version)
prince eric x fem reader!
Tumblr media
description - y/n and eric are longtime childhood best friends. you have been in love with him (so is he, but she doesn’t know it yet) for a while now and eric’s parents have plans to set him up with a woman so he can be married. before any arrangement can be married for eric to marry another woman, you must tell him how you feel (fluff and slight angst - jealousy! - parts of this make me think of that one amy and laurie scene in the 2019 little women film!)
for as long as you could remember, you and eric would be always sitting on the beach near the castle talking nonstop, laying together under the sun during the day and under the stars during the evenings.
as you got older, things between the two of you changed. eric’s duties became slightly more important than you (not according to him - the queen’s own opinion), but he always made himself available for you after a long day, just to sit on the beach and relax with you.
you loved his company. you personally never thought you’d ever be associated around royalty. ever. eric considered you as family, even if you were just a village girl. you were still surprised now after knowing eric and his family for eight years that they welcomed you in their own, even if you had a crush on the prince.
you had just had a knock at the door, you rushed to open it. just incase it was going to be eric standing at the door smiling at her, but it wasn’t. it was grimsby.
“what is it, grimsby?” you ask, your smile fading as you hoped something bad hasn’t happened. eric went away on a quick voyage trip, you had asked to come along but grimsby advised not to. you waited for grimbsy’s response, staring at him with a worried face. “grimsby?” you ask again, getting more worried about what he could say, “is it about eric?”
he looks at you and nods. “he’s had a small accident. he almost drowned, we brought him home early.” he told you, “the prince wanted you of all people to know first before everyone else.” you stand at the door shocked at the news. “is he okay? is he home?” you ask instantly. grimsby looks at you, and asks you to come with him.
you walk down with grimsby to the parlour to find the queen and a few other servants bundled around. you find eric sitting down in the room with a bandage around his head. tears start falling from your eyes, happy to know he’s alive. he sees you and tries to smile at you although in a small amount of pain, “y/n?” he says, trying to stand.
you gracefully walk over to him and kiss him on the cheek and lean in for a hug. tears still falling from your eyes, still in shock from finding out what happened.
MINI TIME SKIP -
you and eric sit on the beach together. you advised him to get some air and sit on the beach with you. it was late, but the two of you didn’t really care since you both had each other as you lay under the stars studying the constatations.
you’d occasionally glance and admire at him as he’d continue talking. eric would look back at you, not realising that you weren’t listening, “y/n? are you listening?” he’d laugh at you, still pointing at ‘capricornus’ while he focuses on you.
you laugh, “yeah.. sorry. so what’s going on with you? do you ever think you’d ever find that mystery girl?” he looks at you, now quite suprised. he lays back next to you again, “not sure.” eric replies, unsure of what to say, “mother was thinking of arranging a marriage with a woman from another place? im not completely sure if i am fond of that idea.”
you look at him, now a little upset about eric possibly having an arranged marriage. you had hoped by now that he would have possibly loved you as well as you do for him but you were doubting that he ever has loved you. you sit up slightly. “i don’t think i could see you with someone you hardly know, eric.” you say, becoming slightly upset still.
he turns to you, admiring your face. “why’s that, y/n?” he asks you.
you look at him and sit up on the sand and cross your legs, “because, it’s not going to be the same. you and i. you’re gonna be running off somewhere with a girl who will probably become your wife! we don’t be sitting on this beach again anymore like we used to when we were children!” you tell him, “you know? being here, right now is what I want to do forever. i don’t want this to stop. and with you being being possibly married? i just can’t bare to see it. i can’t do it, eric.”
he looks at you, knowing exactly how you feel. so he sits up and faces you, all of a sudden you were both extremely close together. eric reaches his hand and intwines it in your hair and cups your cheek. their eyes met and time stood still as they gazed at each other. a moment of complete silence passed between them, then he moves his hand from your cheek towards your hand, letting you intertwine it in his.
“im not going to let that happen, y/n..” he tells you, as he keeps his hand intwined in yours. you pull a large smile as if you’ve had a coat hanger stuck in your mouth ever since you’ve met him. “really?” you ask.
he nods. “really.”, he replies instantly, still looking at you. you both lean in gently, with you now holding his cheeks. our breathing and your hearts beating between us. he laid his lips to yours, kissing you softly and slowly. the world around the two of you, blurring and disappearing. you move your hands from his cheeks and put them around his neck and place your fingers in the ends of his hair.
the both of you didn’t care if anyone saw you both. he didn’t want to go with his mother’s plans. he wants you. nobody else. after all this time he had plans to ask you to marry him. he would do it, whatever his mother would say, even if you were only just a village girl.
as long as they’d love and care for each other, it didn’t matter. they’d be able to explore together those wild uncharted waters.
please don’t copy my work! <3

CROWNS CAN'T KEEP ME AWAY FROM YOU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the love life of a prince and a maid was never supposed to happen, but he couldn't help his feelings for you grow. he wanted nothing more than to show you the world, but the world itself wasnt on your side in this kingdom.
PAIRING park sungho x fem!reader WC 4.0k TAGS prince sungho + maid reader. forbidden love. fluff. angst. OMI NOTE this is for my lovely @woonhakist because i know she's always been talking about prince sungho since forever (specifically prince eric sungho but it's not quite similar hence why i added some other stuff to give it that vibe) and i rlly wanted to make this for her ahh she's my best friend and only deserves the best so i must pull through. i hope you like it ml <33
Tumblr media
falling in love with a maiden as beautiful as you wasn’t in his honor. and whilst you were far from a princess, his heart still grew as he watched you effortlessly sway along to the music. there were ethereal women on every corner, yet it was a difficult task to pay attention to the one in front of him while you were there.
the ballroom was crowded with royalty from kingdoms down the way. high ceilings that were richly decorated with elegant moldings and dazzling chandeliers that hung from above, casting a romantic glow throughout the space. the hard marble floors echoed the sound of high heels and dress shoes tapping along with the music.
sungho politely held onto the corset - covered waist of the girl in front of him. she was well - mannered, courteous like any princess should. but what she lacked is that she wasn’t you. these fantasies drowned him, unable to properly focus.
“are you even paying attention to me?” she scoffed at the zoned out look in his eyes, trying to snap him out of his daze.
“my apologies, miss. what was it you’re saying?” sungho sighed, pulling his attention back to her.
“i’m unsure if i can keep dancing with you if you won’t even look at me. what kind of prince are you?”
“i was raised to be charming, not sincere. i hope you find a prince for you in the future.” he bowed politely as she walked away from him, leaving him there alone.
and while he felt terrible, he was relieved to be out of reach from the grab of a princess. he looked around the scene of party gowns and neat suits before going in your direction.
you stood in a corner, humming to yourself pretty melodies while cleaning up messes that guests left over by the snack table.
the uniform you wore was clean despite the work you normally did, you tried to stay out of view from the rest of the elegancy. it felt out of place otherwise. though sungho had his eyes on you the entire time.
“good evening, y/n. have you been enjoying yourself at the event?” he questions, making you turn your head quickly.
“ah– it’s quite difficult to enjoy a party when you’re cleaning up after it. but i hope you’re having fun!” you tell him, leaning on the broom you were holding.
“why don’t you loosen up a little? there’s so many people i doubt anyone would care.”
“mistakes like that could get me fired your majesty, but i appreciate the suggestion.” you put on a smile despite the frown on his face.
“how about we get out of here then, yeah?” he grabs your hand before you could even respond. the contact shooting electricity through your veins.
sungho analyzes the crowd before pulling you around a corner, away and out of sight from the people. you run behind him to keep up with the tug of your arm, your flats pattering against the marbled floors. it wasn’t long before you reached an unfamiliar room.
he reached into the sage green collar of his shirt, moving aside his silk - like hair to unclip a long chain with a key attached to the end. it fit perfectly into the door, making a click sound upon opening. he lead you into the room before closing the door behind the two of you.
the view you were met with was beautiful. unlit candles stray along newspaper scattered desks, books on top of books stood tall next to other various knick knacks. and amongst it all, there was a large canvas that was illuminated from the moonlight peering through the stained windows. it had a multiple strokes of different colored paint, creating what could only be described as a masterpiece.
“your majesty? what’s all of this?” you asked curiously as he let go of your hand to place in his pockets.
“just call me sungho, we don’t need to be so formal when we’re in here.” he states, running his fingers along the dust on the shelves.
“sungho.. are you sure we won’t be caught? why did you even take me here?”
“is it a bad thing that i find you interesting? that i want to get to know you? status aside we can always be two friends that hang out, y/n.”
you chose to ignore these words he spoke to you and the blush that crawled up your porcelain cheeks, admiring the numerous collectables around the room. yet your focus trailed to the painted canvas you saw previously, standing tall on a wooden easel.
“do you paint?” you query, moving your face closer to look at the finer details.
“when i’m bored, or find something that inspires me.” he appeared next to you, looking into your curious eyes.
the proximity between the two of you was short, his features barely seen as he faced away from the glow that came through the window. however, the tension was still there. his pupils were small despite the darkness, as he felt there was enough light right in front of him.
you could feel his breath against your face, making you flinch and stumble backwards. a bucket of paint tipped over when you hit the floor, quickly scrambling to pick it up. thick gold pigment poured across the floor and on your uniform. panic ensued while sungho just chuckled.
“y/n, it’s okay. nobody ever comes in here, you don’t have to freak out.” he tells you, pulling up your distressed figure from the gold soaked floorboards.
“i’m so sorry! god i don’t know why i have to be such a clutz, i’ll go get the cleaning supplies–”
“i said it’s fine. no harm done, you didn’t even spill that much, i have a rag and some water in here. you can just take off your apron.” he reached around your waist to untie the white cloth around you, making you freeze sheepishly.
the apron was discarded into the trash behind him and the mess was wiped from the floor while you stood there embarassed. somehow you looked even cuter like this.
“here let me show you something, to get your mind off of this. no need to be embarrassed, pretty.” he signaled you to sit with him at the desk in the corner, smiling to himself at the deep red color on your face.
the smell of fresh books and glue became more prominent as he pulled a scrap book from the side, removing the elastic keeping the pages together. gorgeous calligraphy titled each fragile sheet of paper.
“this is where i put photos of all the places i’ve travelled. other castles specifically. you’d think being a prince would make you sick of the sight of all this royalty stuff. but i appreciate the structure.” he pointed to a large palace.
“wow.. i’ve never seen this one before, what’s it called?” you looked between him and the pages.
“this is koz kingdom, i have a couple cousins there so we visit often. their gates are quite tall aren’t they?”
“very! they must have a lot of people trying to break in?”
“every kingdom has it’s enemies, but they always have a large force of guards to protect them. but they’d rather be safe than sorry, you know?”
“mhm.” you mumbled as he flipped the page.
“these photos bring back a lot of memories, photography is an item that helps  you keep a lot more things. i take for granted how much of the world i’ve seen. this is your first time working under royalty, right?” he wonders, watching your expression shift slightly.
“yes but i don’t mind it at all. there are some moments that make me want to quit but, it pays great enough for me to get by.” you frown.
“i don’t understand how anyone could treat you terribly, my family can be harsh sometimes but they mean well.” he pauses, “just– don’t quit. i’ve enjoyed our time together.
“me too, sungho.”  you let your guard down around him, maybe this could get you in trouble but you didn’t care.
it didn’t occur to you how much you didn’t know about the prince, but you felt honored to get such deep insight about him. this broke down the walls of the idea that all princes were stuck up, waiting for a princess to appear around their arm for the sole purpose of ruling a kingdom. sungho was different.
the two of you carried conversation for the duration of the night. music got a little less loud and voices became almost non existent. he showed you beautiful things, varying from places he’s visited and souvenirs he’s collected over time. all of it fascinated you, you’ve never seen anything so unique.
time passed like a whirlwind, distracted enough to not bother checking the clock. angry footsteps became audible from down the hall, interrupting the soft moment between the two of you. you stood up suddenly at the sound of the doorknob turning, rushing behind a bookshelf to shield yourself from whoever was coming in.
“sungho! you were absent the entirety of the party my darling, what kind of prince does this make you?” a womans voice beamed angrily, it was the queen.
“i sincerely apologize, mother. but it felt like i danced with every princess in the room. couldn’t i of had a break? i have zero feelings for any of them.”
“excuses, sungho. you need to find a princess before the year comes to an end. your father and i aren’t getting any younger!” she spat, “love is irrelevant in these circumstances.”
“yes mother..”
“now go freshen up for bed, we have a lot of things planned for tomorrow.”  she left the room as fast as she came in, leaving you and sungho alone once again.
“can i come out now?” you peaked from around the shelf while sungho signaled you back.
“i’m sorry about that, y/n. but i think it’s best we continue this another time.” he exhaled, slightly annoyed.
“oh my gosh it’s no worries! i um– i had a lot of fun. thank you for showing me all of these things…” you confessed nervously.
“you’re cute, y/n. i’ll see you in the morning.” he raised a hand to ruffle your hair a bit before walking away from you. the room felt ten times more empty once he was gone, so you quickly escaped after he was decent ways down the corridor.
morning came quickly like a dream, the sun barely rose and you were awake in a happy mood. the night before almost felt unreal, the tenderness of the time you spent with sungho felt like it was out of a story book. but anything that happened, anything that could happen between the two of you was impermissable.
you were far from a princess. the closest thing to gold you’ve ever owned were the silly chocolate coins you’d get as a reward from your parents when you were little. thinking about whether a prince like him would like someone like you made your head hurt.
trying your best to push these unrealistic thoughts away, you gathered a breakfast plate to take up to his room. it was your turn for room service this morning, and life couldn’t be any more on your side.
you left a gentle knock on the tall doors before letting yourself in. sungho was still sleeping peacefully, sprawled out on his large mattress. there was something about seeing him lay comfortably that warmed your heart. some people thought he was quite intimidating, but that couldn’t be true, he was like anyone else.
while you moved the cart closer to  his bed, you went to open the curtains and let the light in. it emit a low groan from him and the rustling of sheets.
“goodmorning, your majesty.” you beamed, going back over to his bedside while he sat up.
“i said you can just call me sungho when it’s the two of us.” he said sleepily, rubbing his eyes.
“right. sungho. sorry it’s just still a little weird to me.” you told him, “i brought you your breakfast.”
“thank you, y/n. hang out with me while i eat, yeah? my parents are way too busy in the morning, i need the company.” he takes the plate in his hands, nodding his thanks.
“of course. did you get good sleep?” you ask while sitting on the edge of his bed.
“the best sleep in awhile actually, did you have fun last night?” he spoke in between bites.
“i did have a lot of fun, so thank you for that. i’m a bit shocked they didn’t catch on that i wasn’t cleaning up though.”
“there are too many employees in this castle, they can barely keep track of them, let alone how much they’re paying them.” he ponders for a second, “when i become king i’ll try to be better to my people.”
“well i’m sure you’ll do wonderfully. maybe i’ll be working under you soon, considering you’re already searching for wives.” you laugh it off, fiddling with a spare fork from the silverware bin under your cart.
“i highly doubt i’ll find a princess anytime soon.” because they’re not you, he thought. “ i’m more in it for love. but i know my parents think otherwise. plus, if i was the king i wouldn’t let you work under me.”
“what do you mean?”
“you deserve better than that. you need to see the world.”
“maybe if i get enough money i’ll travel to all of these places you told me about. check out their villages, see if they have good bread. then i’ll make sure to take lots of pictures for you to see when i come back!” you think ahead.
“oh– also y/n, i have a present for you.” he perks up, fishing through one of the drawers on his nightstand. the item he pulled was a dainty piece of jewelery, a small gold chain with a little lock at the end.
“this is for me?” your eyes go wide as he turns your body so your back is facing him. shivers went down your spine as the cold material wrapped around your neck, the slight touch of his fingers against you during it all made you blush.
“looks pretty on you. i found it on a table right by the door before i left.” he smiles, turning your chin upwards so the top of your head lay at an angle against the middle of his collarbone. the position was romantic, making your head malfunction.
“sungho–” you stutter out, extremely flustered. seeing you shy also seemed to ignite something in him, as he quickly pulled away from you.
“sorry! i’m um– sorry about that. i should’ve asked, i just wanted to see what it looked like on you..” he rambles out, a change in attitude from what you’re normally used to.
“it’s okay! i should probably take the dishes out now but– thank you for the necklace it’s gorgeous sungho.” you stammer, grabbing his empty plate before rolling the cart out. when you are away from his room you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding in.
your mind wandered as you paused in the middle of the hallway, leaning into the classical staircase railing. whatever happened couldn’t resurface again, or you’d have to deal with the consequences. and as if your mind was read, you heard your name being called from a ladies voice.
“y/n, we need to have a chat.” her stern voice shook you, her large gown creating significant distance between the two of you.
“yes, your highness.. what’s wrong?” you ask, trying your best to sound professional.
“what was that with my son?”
“i know nothing of the sorts  your highness, could you elaborate? your voice faltered.
“don’t act like a stupid maid. you were clearly flirting with my son and i cannot have any of that happening in my castle.” she accused, making your heart feel as if it was dropping to your feet.
“i apologize if things seemed that way but i could assure you that–”
“you’re fired if i see you getting anywhere close to sungho. you were hired to service us, not to play romance with my son. he has much better worries to tend to than someone like you.” she warned.
“of course. i understand.” you agreed, trying your best to hide the pout on your face.
she waltzed away, leaving you uneasy and hurt. just when you thought things might’ve been going up, they crashed down before you could even do anything to fix it.
wake up, work, ignore. you spent these next few weeks in refusal to break your silence, not wanting to risk anything further that could detriment your job. it was a difficult task pretending like you didnt see the dejected look on sungho’s face. how the boy that was deemed unnerving looked so solemn.
there were times when maybe you thought it was okay to say something, let him know that you could never hate him. but she was always there, staring daggers into your soul. the difference in status intimidated you.
on his account, every attempt to talk to you or initiate something failed horribly, as he watched you blatantly disregard him. it was your job to work under him and his family, not be his friend (nor his lover).
but when days like those became extra hard, you found comfort in the sea. the castle was atop a hill, not too far away from the salty ocean. you walked down a small, jagged path during your time off, leading you to an alluring sight.
waves crashed against the grainy rocks, washing up sand and other small fish before quickly returning back to the vast blue waters. you climbed over to the tallest one, just enough so you could dip your toes in the water without getting your whole body soaked.
you sat there for awhile, letting the breeze flow through your hair and comfort you. being alone with your thoughts wasn’t the most ideal, but this view made up for everything. it was a complicated situation you found yourself in. a love found in the prince sounded stupid, but it didn’t seem so far away.
something interrupted your thoughts, as you felt a figure approaching behind you. looking behind your shoulder, you saw a distressed sungho. the top few buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned and his hair slick back.
“i wasn’t sure if i’d find you here, but i’m glad i looked anyways.” he called out to you over the sound of the waves. you turned your head away in your best attempt to ignore him.
“you can’t ignore me forever, y/n. what did i do wrong?”
“it’s not about what you did, sungho, it’s about what we can’t do.” you claimed.
“someone found out about us hanging out, didn’t they?” he guessed, earning a sorry nod from you.
“i appreciate how kind you’ve been to me since i started working here, and all the beautiful things you showed me that one night. but we were too close for comfort and i can’t risk that.”
“everything i did, it was all for you, y/n. have you not caught on how much i adore you?” he approached the rock you sat on, sitting down next to you.
“don’t say things you don’t mean, sungho. this isn’t a fairy tale.”
“i can’t just pretend like i didn’t imagine our whole lives together the second i saw you. why can’t it just be true?” his words sounded more broken.
“there wasn’t a life to imagine. even if we’re meant to be together, we aren’t meant to last.” you wept, letting the tears finally fall. he wrapped an arm around you, finally letting you cry into his shoulder. the cold from the wind couldn’t compete with the heat you felt against his body.
“but why does it have to be like that? can’t we run away to a world where i don’t have to be a prince that marries a princess?” he whispered.
“that’s impossible.”
“nothing is impossible, as long as we have the drive to do it.” he cupped your tear streaked face in his hands, closing the gap to kiss you passionately. lips moving against one another to trap a love so immense that nobody but the two of you would be able to understand.
he pulled away, the only evidence being the miniscule strand of saliva that still connected you both. you looked at him shocked, mouth gaping to say something.
“we don’t have to be prince and maid, when we can just be sungho and y/n. theres a village not too far down the dell, we could purchase a boat and explore the world.”
“and what happens when we’re found?”
“i know we can figure something out, we can’t give up until we’ve at least tried.”
“sungho.. i still don’t know about all of this.” you protested.
“just come with me, y/n. even if you say no it won’t change how i feel for you. it won’t change how i’m constantly thinking about you.” he wiped the tears from under your eye, kissing the spot afterwards.
“i don’t know what i’d do with myself if i told you no, you’re a little too convincing.”  you gave him a small smile.
“theres that pretty smile. everything will be okay, just follow my lead.” he reassured, giving you another peck on your lips.
you and sungho fled into the woods that night, leaving no traces or what - ifs, just a note to inform the king and queen that he was okay. their prized son that they worked so hard to shape into the charming prince he was today, escaping away with the girl of his dreams.
hand in hand, you kicked dirt behind you as you ran quickly through the bushes and trees. your laugh sounded melodic behind him as he lead you through the dell. everything about this felt wrong, but with you it was so right. he never wanted to go back if it meant the relationship between you and him had to be painted in his mind.
upon arrival at the village, everyone treated the two of you kindly, handing you different foods and necessities. orange hues from lanterns nearby casted light upon your face, and sungho thought you looked unreal like this.
and though you both could mutually go on about how much you cared for one another, this was the moment that dreams turned into reality. watching him untie the rope from the dock, you sat prettily in an outfit he bought you at the village. it was something new from your usual uniform, and sungho couldn’t keep his eyes off of you.
“are you ready?” he asks, settling himself across from you. the small boat sinking slightly at him entering.
“never been more ready. i was thinking we could hit this island first since it’s the closest.” you showed him a blob on the scroll you were holding.
“they have delicious foods in their town, i think you’d enjoy them.”
“really? i’m excited then!” you exclaimed.
“i’m glad you’re excited. there’s so many places i want to take you. especially my cousins kingdom. the gates are tall but when you see everything inside it makes so much sense!”
“cooler than your kingdom?
“everything is cooler than my kingdom, love. the only thing i got out of it was you.” he responded cheekily.
“gosh sungho you’re such a goof.” you grinned ear to ear as he pushed into the water.
“it’s just because i’m so in love with you. i would’ve backed off if you didn’t want to be with me you know.” he admit, rowing the two of you in the direction of the island.
“i’ll always want to be with you, my prince.”
“the feeling is mutual, my princess.”
