Part Of Your World: Prince Eric
The Little Mermaid Masterlist
 word count: 1.2k
description: You and Eric are childhood sweethearts who share a love for the ocean and the unknown.
Tumblr media
The queen had always disliked you even as a child, all because of who you're parents were, since your dad was a pirate and your mom was a high lady turned pirate and you were very much like the both of them but that didn't matter to you or Eric.
You and Eric had grown up together, the love of the ocean and the unknown drawing you two together, you two were always together and you may or may not have had a crush on him as you grew older. When you reached the age your dad let you come on some of his voyages and sometimes Eric joined you but more often than not the queen tried to keep ashore or provide him his own boat away from you and your father.
It had been a few months since you last saw him, and you were excited to return to shore and see him and you hoped that maybe this time something would happen between you two.
"Ready to see your little boy toy?" Your dad asked with a teasing tone.
"Daaadddd." You said with a groan.
"What I see is the way you both look at each other. It reminds me of me and your mother when we were your age." He said making you smile.
"Really?" You asked him as thunder cracked.
"Yes. Take a chance on him, don't worry about his mom, he would be lucky to have someone like you as his queen." He said squeezing your hand.
A few hours later the small storm had turned into a much more serve storm making it difficult for the boat to navigate. Soon enough the boat overturned due to the winds, and you swam up to the surface level searching around for the crew.
"Dad!" You called out.
"I'm right here angel." He said as he hugged you.
You two swam around trying to get out of the storm, since you were a much better swimmer than your dad, you could navigate the waters easier. You turned around and noticed that your dad was no longer with you, making your panic.
"Dad! Dad!" You called swimming around looking for him.
The last thing you remember was reaching the shoreline before everything went black.
When you woke up, you slowly sat up looking around realizing that you were in a room and no longer on the shore. You stood up and walked over to the window and saw that you were in the castle, making you wonder how you got here.
"Oh thank god, you're awake." Eric said walking into the room making you turn and see him.
You walked over to where he was and hugged him, glad to see a familiar face, the only one person who you truly cared about in this world. You two stood there silently hugging grateful that you were here.
"Eric, how did I get here?" You asked him.
"I was gonna ask the same thing. I was walking Max and he was the one who found you unconscious on the shore. I brought you back here immediately." He said as everything started to make sense.
"Y/n what happened?" He asked concerned as you two took a seat on the bed.
"There was a really bad storm, the boat got overturned and I remember being with my father one minute but then the next he was gone. I kept searching for him but I couldn't find him, I barely remember making it to shore." You said sadly.
"We can search party and start checking around for your dad, I promise you, that we will find him." He said squeezing your hand as Max jumped on the bed.
"Max buddy!" You said hugging him as he kissed your face making Eric smile.
"You are more than welcome to stay here while you heal and we search for your dad." Eric said making you look at him.
"Eric what about your mom? You know she doesn't like me." You said looking at him.
"As mother and queen, she should never want a child out on the streets. I'm sure she will be upset about it at first, I'll leave you to rest before dinner." He said standing up and leaving.
"See y/n, this why I don't like my Eric going out on those ships. The sea gods aren't our friends." The queen said as you and Eric shared a look.
"One bad storm isn't a reason to stop exploring. And as for the sea gods, they may not be your friends but they are certainly mine." You said making Eric smile as you continued eating.
Over the next few days, you and Eric spent some much time together which was a great distraction for you. It made you realize just how much you truly did love Eric and how you wished that he saw you that way. The following morning, after breakfast, you ran into Grimsby.
"Anything Grimsby?" You asked him.
"I'm afraid not Miss y/n. But we will keep searching." He said giving you a small smile.
"Thank you, Grimsby." You said sadly before leaving and heading down to the beach with Max hot on your trails.
You had been sitting by the shore scratching Max's back as he rested in your lap, wondering if your father was still out there somewhere or if he was lost at sea forever.  Eric who hadn't been able to find you or Max all afternoon finally sees you guys sitting down on the shore making his heartbreak that you had to go through the same thing he did.
"I remember us always coming out here to see if we could see your dad." He said making you smile as you leaned into him.
"That was the best, or when we would try and guess the stories of the ships that were passing through or coming in." You said with a smile.
"You know even if on the off chance we don't find him, you will always have a place here with me." He said lacing a hand with yours.
"Eric, what are you saying?" You asked looking at him in shock.
"Y/n, I have always been in love with you. I hated whenever you would leave and would go for months at a time, I would anxiously wait for your letters or for you to come back. I always hated when my mother would try to set me up on dates because all I could focus on was you and search for you in them. Your love for history and the water is one of the main things, that drew to me not to mention your beauty. I understand if I am..." He said as you pressed a kiss to his lips.
"I have always loved you, Eric." You said smiling at him as you two pulled apart.
"I think that they make a rather lovely couple, don't you think your majesty?" Grimsby asked the Queen as they watched the young couple on the shore.
"I'm afraid you are right Grimsby. I have been a bit harsh to her over the years, haven't I?" The Queen asked.
"Just a little. I think an apology would be a good start to mending the relationship but for now, let's leave them be." Grimsby said as the Queen agreed.

bring me to life - p.e
Tumblr media
summary: when ursula possesses y/n to make her try and trap ariel, eric knows somethings off.
prince eric x reader
a/n: this is so humbling but he’s actually the finest man i’ve ever seen
the day ariel sacrificed her voice for legs, it was bound to go to hell. the only thing she wanted in life was to be with the humans, sick of being confined to the ocean. the deal she made with ursula is that she needed approval from the royals in three days. she begged to understand their world, and after she met y/n and eric, she fell in love with the above world.
they were the most gracious and accepting people on the island. they strolled around with her, y/n helping her get dressed and ready, and eric showing her his collections. she never knew that the love from land was so strong until she spent the days with them.
eric glowed around y/n, ariel noticing the bright beam on his face when she came around. he talked about her like an angel, or someone from another perfect universe. ariel knew the look in his eyes, the one of full of mesmerize. ariel quickly found out that it was very mutual, y/n being so fond of eric. her love for him was stronger than the waves, and ariel knew it.
toward the end of the second day, y/n was running around the castle with eric, fooling around with ariel before being scolded by grimsby. most nights, y/n and eric go to bed together, falling asleep as he holds her. tonight was different. the air was stiff, making y/n’s anxiety peak. she decided to take a walk down to the beach to hear the waves and see the water, hopefully calming her down. the ocean was calm from the night winds, but as she sat on the rocks, it started getting harsher. the wind was blowing her hair around, as well as causing the waves to crash around her.
ursula knew the exact weak point in eric and in ariel. meeting y/n and taking her as a friend made her a perfect target to destroy ariel’s life. for eric, y/n’s the most loved. every part of her and her mind is completely admired by eric. ursula knows they’ll listen to y/n, doubting themselves too much. so, if she could convince y/n that ariel isn’t good enough, maybe she had a shot.
“oh, child,” the eerie voice rolls through the water, making y/n move her head around trying to spot it. “a sleepless night?”
“w-who are you?” she questions, stepping away from the rock, leaving only her feet in the wet sand. she’s fully alarmed by the sight in front of her. she’s never seen something like this, leaving cold chills down her spine.
“you’ve never heard of the sea witch?” y/n nervously shakes her head naively. “it means you should listen to me, sweetheart.”
y/n’s hands remain at her side, playing with the seams of her dress. her breathing deepens, coming out more sharp in panic of the creature in front of her.
“that little ariel,” ursula begins. “is no good for this world. and i need your help to bring her back to me.”
“i can’t,” y/n whispers as she walks back further. “i can’t help you.”
“i know you can,” ursula puts her hand out and y/n cringes at the noises of her tentacles on the sand.
the sounds of y/n’s quick breaths and the swishing of ursula’s many arms has become the only thing on the beach. “n-no, no,” y/n demands. “i won’t do this.”
“fine, then!” ursula sighs. as y/n attempts to run away, hurrying out of ursula’s sight, her tentacles grip onto her sides, pulling her closer. y/n tries to yank them off, but they stick to her dress and her skin like hot glue. the air gets tighter around her, using every ounce of energy to escape the grasp of the sea witch. “i’ll just have to make you.”
the words makes y/n’s mind freeze, placing horror into her mind. she thinks about eric, wishing he were here to save her. it was too late, he was out cold in their bed, where they should be together. she knew no one was coming to save her. before she knew it, ursula cracked open a bottle, the smokey substance inside fading into y/n as she breathed it in. her irises flicked between hues of purple from ursula’s spell before returning back to the normal color. ursula knew she must leave, so y/n was left on the sand, marks on her dress as she lay on the cold ground of the beach, unconscious.
eric wakes in the morning early, prepared to explore more with y/n and collect more treasures. he rolls over to place his hand on her, but it only sinks down and he is confronted with the empty bed sheets. he immediately gets up, putting on the normal clothes as he heads downstairs to look for his love.
“grimsby!” he shouts. “have you seen y/n?”
“no, i haven’t. was she not in bed?”
“maybe she went out to the villages with ariel?”
“ariel’s upstairs, sire,” grimsby informs. eric starts to get more fearful, anything could have happened to her. his life dream used to be to explore the ocean, but now it’s just to keep y/n safe. as long as she’s with him, he’s happy. if anyone ever attempted to hurt her, there would be a new version of himself.
he walked the streets and halls of the castle with no sight of y/n. he stormed through the rooms, requesting help from guards and anyone who was free to search. every single time that anyone came back to say she wasn’t found, his heart broke off a piece.
he decided to roam down to the beaches, just in case she had made her way down here and forgotten to say something. when he spotted a bundle of soft hair, the same color as y/n’s, he sprinted over and fell on his knees in the sand.
“y/n?” he asks, placing his hands on her cheeks to straighten her head. “hey, y/n!”
her eyes flutter open, and eric immediately catches on. she doesn’t seem disoriented, she doesn’t seem alarmed. she’s different. her eyes are darkened and her expression seems uncanny. eric shivers at the look of her, he knows somethings wrong than just a fall on the beach. “are you alright, darling?”
“i’m fine,” she replies. “where’s red?”
y/n walks through the castle, leaving chaos and destruction in her path. she’s messed up the organization, and touching everything she sees. she does it with a smirk on her face as well, knowing exactly the plan.
in her head, only ursula stands, controlling her words and thoughts as y/n feels barricaded. she feels like she’s in a prison of her own mind, not being able to escape and work for herself. it’s like she’s become a puppet of the sea, saying and doing what the monsters please.
there was a party in honor of eric tonight, the queen just being thrilled that he’s home safe. it was also a way to welcome ariel to their customs, and help her get settled into the community. she hadn’t gotten her answer if she was fully accepted yet, but that wasn’t enough for ursula. if ariel wasn’t hers at the end of this, she might just have to take y/n. it’s hard work to make a bad impression of someone so genuine like ariel.
y/n walks into the party, dressed in a slim corset and purple dress as she walks onto the outdoor floor. she looks at ariel, with a toothy smirk on her face. eric spots her, making note of y/n’s watery eyes and red cheeks. somethings terribly wrong with y/n, and he doesn’t know how to save her from it.
“your majesty,” y/n says to the queen. “i need to have a word with you.”
“of course, y/n,” she places a hand on her shoulder, walking over to a corner as eric follows behind them.
“i believe that girl is not safe for this island. all the destruction and disrespect in this castle is a result of her,” eric walks in, overhearing y/n’s words and being confused. she adored ariel, and there was no way she was saying this alone.
“mother-” eric speaks, his mother putting up her hand to him. even the queen can notice something wrong with y/n’s demeanor. her features are sharper, leaving a more intimidating look to her. normally, she looks sweet and welcoming, but now she’s started to look mischievous.
“y/n, im sure it is a misunderstanding what’s happened, but- y/n, miss?”
y/n’s eyes are glued on the orange skies, looking at the sun sinking closer to the horizon. her face glows a golden tint from the light and she moves to look at the ocean. eric grabs her hand, but she swipes it away and walks past everyone. ariel has a frightened look on her face, thinking of how to save herself from scrutiny. unfortunately, as the sun dips below the line between the ocean and the sky, ariel stumbles to the floor as eric scurries to help her up.
“you’re too late!” y/n cries, smiling but also with tears. she runs over to ariel, grabbing onto her arms and yanking her off the ground. they struggle over to the balcony before ursula pops up, grabbing the two girls and diving into the water.
eric watches as his friend and his sweet girlfriend fall into the water. he’s taken aback by the tail revealed, but he needs y/n to be safe first. he got in his boat and rowed out to sea, impacting with the sharp waves and abruptness. he spotted ursula with ariel and triton under the surface, but no y/n. he panics, turning into fight mode as he tries to impale ursula with a sword. he just grazes her, just angering the creature as she sends her eels up to him. even as he’s actually attacked, he just wants to find y/n before anything else.
the battle with ursula felt like a scene from a movie. it was like it lasted days, painful, exhausting days of torment from the witch. even after he swam up to shore, y/n was nowhere to be found.
“get a boat!” eric pants. “we need to find y/n, i need to find her.”
“eric,” the queen says.
“mother, i need her-“
“relax, first, eric. we will find her. we have people out already looking for her,” she tries to comfort her son who’s in the water, discombobulated from all he’s been through today. he stared at the water, remaining on shore but still lost at sea. y/n could be anywhere and it’s out of his control.
with every last morsel of strength y/n had left, she managed to force herself to swim to shore. she lay on the hot sand, absorbing the cold water from her hair and her dress. her eyes felt like she was looking through a dirty eyeglass, the ache in her head blurring her vision. her head had one too many impacts, leaving her with a thumping pain. once she landed there, rolling onto her back to let the sun beat on her face, she couldn’t make herself stand. her muscles were overworked and weary. the warmth of the sun encapsulated her body, leaving her to dry from the soak of the sea.
eric stormed through the beaches, despite the complaints from the queen. he wasn’t going to let her escape him again and be taken. she was just an innocent person, someone who didn’t deserve the wrath of ursula.
ariel herself felt scared. she never was able to experience the same emotions as humans, until she connected with y/n. she knew ursula too well to miss her tricks. y/n would have never done that to her under any circumstance. she admired y/n on the island. ariel had discovered the disappearance of y/n, and took matters into her own hands. she explored the oceans anywhere that she could’ve fallen to, but she eventually washed up to a small island, too far from the shore of eric’s island.
she could see the floating of y/n’s dress in the high tide. she saw the swishes of hair on the ground, covered in grains of sand. she rapidly flipped her fins, pushing herself onto the sand to grab onto y/n. she swam with the unconscious body quickly to the shore of the main island, leaving her on the dry land as she returned back to the waves.
even as time passed, eric was still searching frantically, looking like a lunatic on the beaches. he didn’t stop until he was forced to by his mother, succumbing to her orders to get back in the castle. he was observed and checked out in the medical wing to make sure he wasn’t hurt too severely.
he heard shuffling in the halls, the passing of guards and orders. “alert the prince,” one says, making eric’s head perk up. it wasn’t until grimsby whipped the door open, walking in to greet eric.
“sire,” he pants. “we’ve found y/n.”
eric stands up, his face falling straight as he swiftly moved down the hallways. his footsteps ricochet through the tall passages, skipping up the stairs and seeing y/n in a small bed. her hair was tied back with a white bandage wrapped around her head.
he pauses, taking in the sight of his one and only, vulnerable and hurt on the bed. his chest rises and sinks in long breaths. he doesn’t know if he can handle looking at her sleeping body, she looks too peaceful for him to be comfortable.
as the servants cleared out of the room, eric sat beside her on the bed. he grabbed her hand as she fluttered awake, stretching her body out with a grimace on her face. “eric?”
“yes,” he whispers. “i’m here, it’s alright.”
“i don’t understand what happened, it was all so fast and then ariel-“
“shh, you’re going to be ok now,” he reassures her, running a hand on her cheek.
“but where is ariel? she dropped me off on the shoreline and i didn’t see her again,” y/n questions, fearing for her friend. when she looks behind eric, she hears a soft, gracious knock on the doors as ariel steps in in her blue dress. she has a dim smile on her lips as y/n tells her. “come in, please, ariel.”
she steps into the room, looking around at the mysterious objects in this part of the castle. the couple smiles at the curious girl until she makes her way over to y/n on the bed. “i found you on an island on the outland. it was further from the shipwreck than we were.”
“thank you,” y/n smiles, grabbing ariel’s hand and placing her other one on top of them. she looks around, her expression changing to confusion. “i guess i’ll address the problem in the room. your legs have returned.”
“my father gave me the gift of staying here with you. i’m meant to be on land, and i’ve finally been heard. i couldn’t have done any of this without you. you showed me kindness and never once treated me like i was unordinary, even though i am.”
“you don’t need to ask for respect around here,” y/n says. ariel thanks her one last time, before moving out of the room.
“you have no idea how happy i am that you’re alright,” eric remarks, shuffling closer to y/n’s body. “i was so scared i lost you.”
“i know,” y/n replies. “but you’ll never lose me, eric.” he leans forward, placing a sweet kiss on her lips as a token of gratitude.
“we’re meant to be together until the sky falls, my love.”

.summary: it seems that the child you share with Eric has disappeared and is wandering around the castle
Tumblr media
“Luna?” You called out, as you walked down the hallway calling out for your two year old daughter. You’d only turned your back for a split second, and she’d already wandered off and you couldn’t seem to find her.
“Luna!” You called out, worriedly. Panic slowly starting to kick in as your eyes darted back and forth between corridors. Searching for your daughter.
You walked passed Eric’s study and opened the door, “Eric, have you seen Luna?” You asked, lifting his head from the map he looked toward you.
“No, why I thought she was with you.” He said, and you chuckled nervously. “She was, and I only turned my back for a split second and now she’d wandered off.” You said, and he immediately got out of his chair and exited the study.
He took notice of your worried demeanor, “Hey, it’s okay we’re going to find her I’ll go notify the staff and everyone in the castle, okay?” He said, and you nodded before he left he planted a kiss on your lips before going to tell the staff.
Taking in a deep breath you calmed yourself down, and started walking around the castle once again. “Luna!” You called out, and swore you heard tiny babbles and giggles echoing throughout the hall.
From the corner of your eye, you say a tiny figure walk down the hallway on the opposite side of you. “Luna!” You called out, rushing over towards her but by the time you got there she was gone.
You were confused, how is she walking so fast she’s only two. And her legs were still so tiny and stubby, there so way she’s moving that fast. “Luna, sweetie where are you?” You called out, panic starting to set in once again as you called out for your daughter.
Eventually, almost an hour had passed and there was no sign of your child. You ran into Eric who too hasn’t found any luck in locating, Luna. “Our daughter, is one slippery little toddler.” He said, and you looked at him on the verge of tears. It wasn’t helping, that at this moment you are pregnant once again.
So the emotions were getting to you, “W-W-Where’s our baby girl?!” You cried, and Eric pulled you into an embrace planting a kiss on your forehead.
“We’ll find her, and I won’t rest until we do.” He said, planting another kiss on your forehead.
“Dada!” Luna exclaimed, as Ariel placed her on the ground the child immediately running over towards her father.
“Oh my goodness, Luna!” You exclaimed, walking towards your daughter and planting kisses on her tiny face causing her to giggle.
“Somehow, she made her way down to the beach.” Ariel said, looking over at the child, Eric and You looked towards Ariel.
“Thank you so much.” You said, and then turned towards Luna who was smiling as she played with her fathers hair.
“Bye bye, Auntie Ariel!” Luna said, waving goodbye
“Okay, time for you my little one to get a bath.” You said, taking her form Eric’s arms causing her to shout.
“I don’t wanna bath!” She protested, as she was being carried away by you.

Summary: After coming home from a long voyage, Eric finds (Y/n) back in her old habit of sleep walking.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
A bolt of lightning scraped through the sky and sent crackles of white light through the room. And when the thunder started, everything in the room began to rattle. The brush on the dressing table collided with the floor, the drapes in front of the curtains whistled into the room and the bedframe shook from side to side.
Eric's head shot up from the pillow and his foot which had been hanging off the side of the bed, crashed against the floor.
For a brief moment, Eric wondered where he was. A shiver ran down his spine when a warm breeze drifted through the open balcony doors. Oh God, was the ship colliding with harsh waters? Did he need to be on the main deck with the crew? They weren't going to capsize again, were they?
It took a lot longer than it should have for him to realise he was in his bed in the castle. The floor wasn't moving with uneven seas beneath him, he wasn't squished into a small cabin bed and rain wasn't pouring in through a window that never closed.
He was safe in his bed that was firmly on the floor that had no risk of moving or capsizing beneath him.
The sound of the rain never made Eric feel at ease, it had the opposite affect on him because the rain was a bad sign whenever he was at sea. It signalled an oncoming storm and any kind of storm, small or large as a hurricane, was not an easy task to deal with. Even when he was at home safely tucked away in bed under his mother's watchful eye, storms always made Eric's heart bleed for anyone still out on the waves.
Letting his head flop back down to the pillow, Eric waited a few seconds for his heart to calm down before he moved his arm and stretched it out in front of him. He expected his arm to coil over (Y/n) but his limb fell down to the bed, empty-handed.
Where was she?
His eyes shot open and he moved his hand across the bed, scouring around for her but she wasn't with him. She had been there when he went to sleep, he had fallen asleep with her head on his chest listening to the lulling sound of his heart. That was how they always fell asleep when he was back from a voyage.
When another clap of thunder ricketed through the room, Eric got out of bed with a hand brushing his tangled curls out of his eyes. He wouldn't be able to settle to sleep again until he had (Y/n) by his side.
The open curtains provided enough light for Eric to find his shirt that had been thrown on the floor in his earlier haste to strip down to his boxer shorts. He didn't bother doing the buttons, letting the material hang loosely over his shoulders so he looked a little more presentable for a midnight stroll around the castle to find his beloved. He had to see where she was or his mind wouldn't let him rest and it was clear she wasn't in the bathroom because there was no light on in the adjoining room.
It was a relief to find there were still candles burning down to the last stub of wax in the hallway when he stepped out of his chamber. Eric knew this place like the back of his hand but it was no easy task treking round in the dark.
He wasn't sure where he should be looking, it was late into the night with a storm raging outside, what would (Y/n) be doing at this time?
Cold spikes seeped up into the soles of his bare feet when he walked down the hallway, across the slightly damp stone floor that collected the cold like Eric collected his treasures. But the further away from his chamber that he got, the more alert and panicked he began to feel. Would he have to search around the whole castle to find (Y/n)? What would he do if he didn't find her? Maybe he would have to wake Grimsby or God forbid, his mother, and ask for their help.
His steps were light and calculated as he hurried down the stairs and turned left, making his first point of call the kitchen. It seemed the likeliest option that (Y/n) had gone wandering for a drink or a midnight snack.
But when he peered into the vast kitchen, there wasn't one single candle or burner lit up anywhere, the room was cascaded in darkness. No (Y/n). He wasn't sure where to go next.
As he began to backtrack down the corridor, a strike of thunder shrieked down the corridor and a tremor coursed through Eric when something dawned on him. What if (Y/n) was sleepwalking? It had been months since Eric had even thought about (Y/n) wandering off in her sleep, it hadn't happened in so long. Then again, he had been away on a two-month journey and had only come back just last week. She could have started up again during that time and not told him. He knew she didn't like to worry him.
His wild eyes darted right to left, wondering whether he should head back upstairs and keep searching or if he should brave the treaturous weather in case his lover had wandered outside. Surely (Y/n) wouldn't have gone outside in such weather, asleep or not. He had never found her wandering outside, but they had been down to the beach a lot this week since Eric came home.
The mere thought of (Y/n) wandering outside during the storm- wearing very little with no shoes on her feet and no comprehension of what she was doing, made bile rise up in his throat.
"No, no no."
Eric began to shake his head but he found himself wandering towards the castle doors rather than the stairs. Instinct was telling him that if she was outside, he needed to find her sooner rather than later. No one else would know if she was out there or not and wasting time searching the castle could mean she could fall, succumb to any sort of cold or illness out there alone or get taken by the vicious waves.
He almost felt like bursting into tears with how many awful possibilities were coming to mind.
Eric had found (Y/n) in various places when she used to sleepwalk a lot in the past. When they first became lovers he would sneak her into his chambers so his mother wouldn't find out and he had searched everywhere in the castle at four in the morning. Only to find (Y/n) on the brink of entering Grimsby's room wearing nothing but Eric's button up shirt.
Another time, he had woken up just as she got off the bed and was aiming to go out onto the balcony until Eric gently turned her round and guided her back to bed. The only other few times she had wandered, Eric had been seconds behind her, darting down the corridor to spin her round or carry her back to bed. And a few of those times, he had been stark naked, running up to his girl while praying no one was out and about to see him in all his glory.
"Sir, your highness?"
Eric spun away from the door so fast his eyes rattled in his head and he lost his balance and composure.
Looking up through the dimly lit hallway, his eyes narrowed when he caught sight of who was timidly talking to him. It was a maid, someone he regretfully didn't know by name or even by her face. She had a gown pulled tightly around her night clothes and a candle in her hand like she had been disturbed in her sleep.
"Yes?"
"It's your lady, sir. She's... she's trying to get into your study, but she's not saying anything."
A wave of relief knocked the wind out of Eric and sent him tumbling on his back foot, bracing himself on a pillar as he tried to get the blood rushing back to his head. He had been two seconds away from running out into the rain to find (Y/n) and she was safely inside all along. She wasn't at risk of being swept away by the sea or falling ill from the cold and rain.
His legs turned to jelly when he wobbled up the stairs to meet the young girl at the top of the stairs.
"Thank you, I'll take her back to our chamber, you can go back and rest. Thank you again." He rested his hand on her shoulder for a second of appreciation before he turned and propelled himself up the next set of stairs.
The cold floor beneath his feet didn't bother him anymore and the sound of the rain and distant thunder didn't even reach Eric's ears. All he could hear was the thrumming of his heart and the blood rushing around in his head.
Why did his study have to be so far away from his room?
It felt like it took longer than usual to finally reach the corridor of his study and when he did, his eyes found his girl immediately. The closer Eric got, the quicker his heart began to beat in his chest. The maid had been right, (Y/n) was indeed trying to get into Eric's study which he always kept locked out of nervous habit.
(Y/n) had one hand around the door handle, jiggling and twisting it to try and see if it would budge; it would not. She was still in the same nightgown she had been wearing when Eric closed his eyes to sleep and she looked a mix between angelic and dangerous with her hair loose around her shoulders.
Eric found himself freezing in his fast pace when a thud clattered down the corridor. He watched in slight confusion as (Y/n) suddenly tilted her head forward into the door like she was trying to push it open with her head. She took a step back before tipping her head down again and letting all of her body lean onto the door with another bang.
He had seen her walk, run and sometimes even talk in her sleep, but Eric had never seen (Y/n) do this before.
When she did it again, Eric jogged the small distance between them and stood at (Y/n)'s side. He reached his hand out and carefully pressed his palm against her temple so that when she leaned forward again, she wouldn't hurt herself. His arm tensed and tingled when his hand smacked against the door and (Y/n)'s head but he paid no mind to the inconvenience it caused.
"Alright my love, back to bed now."
With his hand still hovering on her temple and his other arm secured around her hips, Eric carefully turned (Y/n) to the side and shuffled her a few feet away so she had to let go of the door handle.
"That's it sweetheart, off we go. It's far too late to be going to the study now." Eric hovered his lips over (Y/n)'s ear before he leaned down to kiss her neck. His chest pressed up to her back and his hand moved from her head, down her arm until he could entwine their fingers together.
"I miss Eric,"
For a brief moment, Eric paused wondering if (Y/n) had woken up already. His eyes cast down to look at the girl in his arms, her eyes were open and staring up at him but it was like she was seeing through him and her expression was blank. She was still fast asleep. The softest smile moulded onto his lips and his eyes creased at the corners as a blush danced up his neck and dotted his cheeks.
Had she been sleepwalking into his study while he'd been away?
"I'm back now sweetheart, you don't have to miss me anymore." There was no need for (Y/n) to yearn for him any longer, he had come home to her, like always.
It took some effort for him to get (Y/n) moving in the opposite direction, it was like her body felt a magnetic pull towards his study and he could feel her turning like she was about to bolt and go back to the room again. But as he let her weight lean on his chest and cocooned his arm all the way around her waist, (Y/n) eased into him. Her head slowly lowered back into the crook of his neck and she let Eric nudge her forward.
As they finally got back towards their chambers, Eric could feel (Y/n) slowing down against him until she wasn't lifting her feet anymore and she was barely shuffling across the stone floor.
He reacted quicker than his mind could comprehend, when (Y/n) slumped against his chest, Eric tightened his arms around her. Bending his knees, he slipped his arm beneath her legs and slowly hoisted her up into his arms, leaning her weight back into his chest. (Y/n)'s head fell on his shoulder and when Eric looked down upon her, something settled inside of him when he saw her eyes were finally closed. She had drifted back to sleep.
With (Y/n) in his arms, Eric gently nudged the door shut behind him with his foot before he approached the bed. His knees pushed into the soft mattress and he lowered his arms down until he had (Y/n) carefully laid down in bed again.
Even with the doors wide open adn the curtains apart, the breeze from the storm was as warm as sunlight. He kicked the covers down to the end of the bed and stripped his shirt before he laid down beside (Y/n).
This time when his arm stretched out, it found what it was looking for and deadlocked around (Y/n)'s waist. He nuzzled his face into the back of (Y/n)'s neck and sighed, content with her scent overwhelming his senses and her hand clamping down around his wrist as if to make sure he didn't move.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sunlight streaming into the room burned through (Y/n)'s eyelids and when she dared to crack her eyes open, she couldn't see anything for squinting hard at the brightness. Her eyes closed again and she tipped her head down until she felt a hard chest in front of her.
She could feel herself beginning to wake up when she nuzzled her face into the smooth bare chest in front of her. And her hands moved until one palm was pressed against said chest and her other arm was coiled over Eric's hip.
Their legs were tangled together like knots and (Y/n) could feel one of Eric's arms was beneath her neck and his other hand was pressed to the small of her back.
She knew he was awake when a kiss was pressed into her hair.
"Morning,"
"Good morning, sweetheart." Eric made no attempt to move, he buried his face in (Y/n)'s hair and nudged his leg further between her thighs, noticing how her breaths were tickling his stomach.
"I've got a headache," (Y/n) mumbled the words more to herself than to Eric but he heard her nonetheless.
She could feel a shiver riveting through Eric when she kissed his chest over his heart and his heartbeat flooded through his skin and pulsed through (Y/n). It wasn't always usual to find Eric tangled around her. They fell asleep in a mess of limbs and kisses and tight embraces but they usually tossed and turned through the night and woke up with only one part of them touching. Whether that was their hands entwined, their feet touching or a leg tossed over the other. But this was a lovely surprise.
"Ahh, I'm afraid you were sleepwalking last night, you were trying to get into my study but it was locked. Were you doing that a lot while I was away?" Eric's voice was tentative and gentle, he didn't want to embarrass (Y/n) or upset her but he was curious all the same.
He could practically feel (Y/n) heating up and blushing against him when she buried her face into his chest until he was sure she was going to smother herself.
"I did wake up once or twice in the study,"
When Eric went on his voyage, he left the key to the study with (Y/n) because he knew his treasure trove enthralled her just as much as it did him. He hoped all of his artifacts would keep her busy and stop her from feeling as lonely while he was away. It had done the trick most of the time, (Y/n) had studied his maps, polished his artefacts and catalogued a lot of things.
But on quite a few nights, (Y/n) had woken up in his study. She woke up sitting in his chair with one of his blazers in her arms or she fell asleep on the rug. One night she had sleepwalked to the study but didn't take the key with her and she woke up in the morning laying in the corridor wondering where she was.
"I'm not leaving you again, my love. You don't need to wander any more."
Eric had spent the rest of the night with his arm around (Y/n) so that if she moved, she would wake him and he could reassure himself he would catch her if she wandered off again. It kept his mind at rest for the duration of the night. (Y/n) didn't have to worry anymore, he was home and he wasn't going to leave her alone for a long, long time.
Her mind didn't have to wander during the night to try and be close to him because he wasn't going anywhere.

Prince Eric Taking You on a Beach Date
Pairing: Prince Eric x Fem!Reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, teasing, kissing, swimming, cuteness overload, shy!Reader
A/N: I just need to get this out of my system okay?!
Tumblr media
Beach dates are your go to on sunny days, or even on cloudy days if its warm enough
Eric takes his shirt off as soon as you get there
He's long past the stage where this is embarrassing for him but you're a different story
You don't have to avert your eyes you know, you can both look and touch
There's something about you being so easy to tease that activates his playful side so fast
Long walks on the beach happen almost every night after it gets a little cooler but during the day you're at his favorite spot, him reading through books as he enjoys the sun and your hands combing through his hair
You've been caught sleeping in the sand a few times now, always locking hands and running off in the other direction of the guards
When Eric gets into the water its hard to pull him away, the Prince only doing do when it's you who calls him
Maybe a little childish but at least you know he's unable to resist your cute charms
There's enough food in the picnic basket for a whole family, you never finish it but you spend the rest of it on the little sea animals and birds
Lately the two of you started giving them names

The 2 times Eric realized he loved you and the 1 time he told you.
Tumblr media
Summary: Basically the title. The two times that Eric realized he loved the reader and the one time he finally admitted it.
Prince Eric Masterlist
THE FIRST TIME
You and Eric were on the beach near the shoreline. Lying down on the sand looking up at the stars, Eric showing you the constellations, you listening attentively.
"They're so beautiful," You said admiring the stars resting your hands on your stomach.
"They are, aren't they," he agreed but what you didn't know was he wasn't looking at the stars, he was too busy looking at you. You looked over at him, only to find him already looking at you, embarrassed he smiled at you shyly before looking back up at the stars.
You reached out to grab his hand intertwining your fingers with his. He looked over at you and smiled shyly before holding your hand tighter.
THE SECOND TIME
You and Eric were in his study. He was showing you some of the artifacts he brought back from his most recent voyage. Picking up a conch shell you brought it to your mouth and blew into it, making a clear and precise sound.
"Where'd you learn how to do that?" he asked smiling at you brightly.
"A magician never tells their secrets," you claimed smirking at him.
"Well good thing you're not a magician," he remarked taking the conch shell into his own hands. "Show me, please?" he begged.
"Alright fine," you rolled your eyes sarcastically. Deep known you were happy to help him. You put your hands over his showing him how to hold the shell. "Alright watch closely," you pointed at him sternly.
"Yes ma'am," he replied looking at you attentively. You puckered your lips slightly and blew, the Prince trying his best to replicate your actions but it was a little bit difficult when the only thing he could think about was how ridiculously cute you looked.
"Alright I think I got it," the prince claimed confidently. He put the conch shell up to his mouth and blew into it making the most horrible sound you've ever heard. The two of you looked at each other and immediately burst into a fit of laughter.
He looked into your eyes and you returned the gaze making a long moment of eye contact. You smiled at him softly before looking away flustered.
THE THIRD TIME
You and Eric were out at the village festival. Stopping by multiple merchant tables the Prince buying you pretty much everything you even glanced at.
"Eric stop it!" you laughed lightly at him as he bought you another bracelet. "We did not come here so that you could spend all your money on me."
"Hey, what's wrong with wanting to spoil my best friend every once in a while," he asked defensively.
“A lot actually,” you told him, “because I’m broke and I’m not going to be able to pay you back,” He shoved you gently in the shoulder as you two walked to another merchant table.
“You don’t have to pay me back Y/N,” he insisted as you two walked around. You suddenly heard music and grabbed Eric’s hand dragging him towards it. “Where are we going?” he asked as you dragged him.
“To dance,” you said. You watched for a few seconds in order to get the rythm down and suddenly joined in. Eric watching you in amazement as you danced along with several children.
He found himself being entranced by your smooth movements. He watched you carefully but his gazing was soon interrupted when you grabbed him and forced him to dance along with you.
He placed one hand on your waist and the other took your hand as you two danced. He caught himself staring at you, admiring your beauty. You swayed your hips to the music and Eric guided your movements with his hands.
He couldn’t stop himself from smiling at you. He spun you around and now your back was against his chest. The others around you threw sand up in the air and you two continued to dance until the music began to come to a stop.
———————————LATER THAT DAY-----------------------------
You and Eric were walking back to the palace but neither of you were quite ready to say goodbye.
“What if we go for a rowboat ride?” the Prince suggested.
“Won’t your mother be expecting you,” you asked him knowing how his mother can get.
“She doesn’t have to know,” he claimed, ”we can just sneak in."
“Alright fine,” you finally caved, ”but this is the last thing we’re doing today."
———————————— MINI TIME SKIP—————————————
The prince was rowing the boat backwards onto the lake. You watched the way he used the oars.
“You want to try?” he asked noticing the way you were watching.
“You know what, sure why not,” you shrugged. The prince motioned for you to come sit on his side of the boat. You attempted to stand up but the boat was rocking slightly causing you to fall down into Eric’s lap. You two looked at each other briefly before you moved to sit beside him.
You put your hands on the oars and Eric put his hands on top of yours helping to guide your movements. You smiled at him, finally getting the hang of it. The sun was setting in the background creating a beautiful scene.
You looked at the sky, almost mesmerized by the orange and pink horizon, Eric following your gaze. “Its beautiful,” you whispered and he nodded his head in agreement, not trusting himself to speak because the setting sun was shining on your face enhancing your beauty
Suddenly the sun set and the fireflies came out illuminating the sky. It was a beautiful scene. You and Eric suddenly felt the boat spinning in circles slowly. You looked down to see a large school of beautiful luminescent fish swimming around the boat.
Eric looked over the edge of the boat and was suddenly spat water at by one of the fish. He laughed lightly and you laughed with him before reaching out and wiping the water off of face with your thumb, somewhat carresing his face in the proccess.
The prince stopped laughing and looked at you as if he were frozen. He grabbed your hand from his face and lowered it before holding both of your hands in his.
“Y/N,” he began which would have made you worry in any other circumstance,”I love you.” You froze and he looked away embarrassed thinking you would say something bad and dropped your hands.
“Sorry,” he muttered quietly. "I dont know why I-“ he started but soon found himself not being able to speak. Your lips were on his, your hands gently cupping his face.
“I love you too, Eric” you smiled at him before kissing him again.
A/N: hope you guys love this. came up with this idea at three in the morning and had to quickly write it because i knew if i didnt i would forget in the morning.

I love your fics and I saw you wanted ideas so here I am. I thought maybe you could do a Taylor inspired fic for Laurie with Love Story maybe with like a ball or something?
ooohh! yes! I’ve been waiting on a laurie fic request for a while now!
maybe with another march sister reader??
(tumblr deleted my first draft so i have to re-write!)
LOVE STORY (INSPIRED BY THE TAYLOR SWIFT SONG “LOVE STORY”!)
laurie laurence x march sister (fem) reader!
Tumblr media
description - you have been friends with laurie (along with your sisters) since his mother passed away. laurie was the lonely boy who was living with old mr laurence who lived opposite the march house, and ever since he started hanging around with you and your sisters, you’ve started to have feelings for him. six years later, you are travelling around europe with aunt march as her companion whilst you are studying and completing your acting classes. you and aunt march are invited to a ball in paris and someone in particular is on the list for you to dance with for the night! - i tried to make it similar to amy and laurie’s story but the reader wanting to be an actress rather than an artist like amy!
you’ve always loved laurie. always.
even when he had feelings for one of your older sisters josephine (or jo).
you’d be the one sitting aside, especially during your eldest sister meg’s wedding, while you watch jo and laurie dance. amy would reassure you that you’d be okay as you sit with her and beth (as she continued to struggle slightly from trying to get better from scarlet fever).
when beth got scarlet fever, laurie was always around for you. when you found out about it, jo and meg told you to stay with aunt march until beth is well again.
“i don’t want to say with aunt march! id rather catch scarlet fever than stay with her, the poodle and the parrot!” you’d wine as you put your head between the pillows of the couch while laurie would insist for you to stay with aunt march.
he was very persuasive, but in a kind way.
he wouldn’t tell you to do something if you didn’t want to. but this was serious. the spread of scarlet fever was serious. it wasn’t a joke anymore. you just about understood that.
laurie told you he’d come and see you, and you suggested for him to bring either the carriage or the phaeton, which he did, just to make you happy.
whenever laurie came to see you, you’d be dancing dramatically (as you would usually) wearing aunt march’s feathered things. you’d smile at him when you realise he’s been standing at the doorframe of the room watching you.
you’d show him things such as aunt march’s wedding ring (which you told him that she was too fat to wear anymore - he’d snigger at you quietly when you said this), the golden bracelet that was for the only child she ever had (until it died unfortunately…) or perhaps anything else you had found amongst aunt march’s house while she was napping.
you would show laurie the will you’ve written, since you thought you’d be the next to die to scarlet fever. laurie sat with you in confusion.
“from y/n m/n march, this is her will and testament for those that may die after her,” laurie read, “for my sister jo, i give her my..”
in this case the list went on.. and on..
laurie looked at you, “y/n.. you’re not going to die! you’re not even sick!” he tells you, trying to reassure you that you were going to be fine.
then you look across to him, and slump down next to him, “i know.. it’s just a precaution! i will some day.. we all do!” you tell him.
there’s a silence between the two of you. then you finally pluck up the confidence to ask laurie to write something else on your will.
“laurie? i have one more thing for you to add?” you ask him, “i want all my curls cut off to all the men who had loved me!”
you seem a little dramatic, but laurie laughs at you slightly and quickly scribbles it down on the will for you.
“if you want to look horrific in your coffin, y/n, go ahead!” laurie tells you, laughing as he finishes writing your comment on the will.
TIME SKIP -
it had been a year since and you had been travelling around europe with aunt march as her companion, while you completed and studied your acting classes.
you and aunt march were set to attend a ball in paris! you had changed a lot since you left home so aunt march suggested that you should start looking towards marriage now that you are properly of age now.
you had met a man named fred vaughn back a few years ago (he’s a friend of laurie’s) on the lake one summer. aunt march suggested for the two of you to marry, but you were unsure, and you thought that you wanted to make your own match.
you arrived at the ball venue in paris. you looked stunning. one of the best dressed probably..
as you entered the venue, you were given a card which included 6 men that wanted to dance with you for the evening.
you glanced at the names on the card briefly (except for the first - which you headed to first).
gregory lance - the first gentleman on the list. wants to dance “the saraband” with you. so you headed towards him for the dance.
as you quickly got through each dance, you finished your fifth finally. you said goodbye to david molesey - who was your fifth dancer, and looked down to your card again to find your sixth and last dance of the night.
you looked down to spot a familiar name on your card.
‘6. theodore laurence - lancers’
you smile and start to look for laurie, not realising that he was already staring at you from the doorframe of the room.
you smile at him and you decide to meet each other half way.
you hug him straight away, trying not to let you or laurie ruin your look of the night. “laurie! what are you doing here? i thought you were in london with your grandfather!” you said, smiling at him.
he smiles at you, completely in awe of you of how beautiful you look, “well.. i guess i am needed here just incase you need anything, y/n march!” he said, “and you look so beautiful! i almost didn’t recognise you!”
you blush a little and slap his arm softly, “yeah yeah.. what have you been up to, laurie?” you ask him, “anymore of the gambling and the drinking?”
he laughs slightly, “no.. no.. none of that recently, y/n!” he tells you, then you remember something that didn’t do laurie any good recently.
“im so sorry jo turned you down, laurie.. im so sorry.” you tell him, looking at him, making sure he’s okay.
laurie looks back up at you, “don’t worry.. im not..” he said to you, smiling at you and taking in the view of you, then he remembered that you both have a dance together, “miss march? may i have this dance?”
laurie takes your hand in his, leading you to the middle of the room to start the dance. you nod at him, “one often does at a ball, laurie laurence..” you tell him, giggling at him a little.
he smiles at you, as you both walk and start the dance. the dance has become more easier for you both.
you remember when you were younger, probably about five years ago, you and laurie were stood in the laurence house dancing. beth was playing the piano, meg was constantly flirting with mr brooke and jo and amy were giggling at you two while we continued to step on each others feet as you both danced.
oddly it was the same dance that were to start dancing at the ball just then. it was a familiar feeling that you hadn’t seen or talked of in a long while. the nostalgia rushed back to you both immediately.
it felt just right.
as the music and the dance stopped, there was a sense of something between you two.
you invited laurie to talk with aunt march and a few others. a lot of aunt march’s friends thought you and laurie were married!
you just shut your mouth and didn’t say much after that.
MINI TIME SKIP -
you decided to have a break and walk outside to get some air on the balcony. it was getting slightly too warm in the building so it was good to escape for a few minutes.
you didn’t notice laurie behind you, so it shocked you for a moment.
“y/n? are you alright?” he asked you, finally catching up with you and standing next to you on the balcony.
you smile up at him, “yes.. yes.. im fine.. i just needed some air..” you tell him.
you notice two boats on the ocean near to the venue, as you both stood on the balcony. the boats were close together. laurie caught you looking at them, and swiftly looked back at you to admire you.
“those boats are pretty close together.. as if they are on the same path..” you mumble to him.
laurie smiles and takes your hand in his. this gets you to look up at him. “y/n.. are we on the same path?” he asks you.
you suddenly look from the boats to laurie, who had now taken your hand in his. you looked into his eyes. you both knew exactly what you wanted.
“i guess we are, laurie…” you finally admit, as you start smiling at him.
you both stand and admire each other for a couple of seconds, then laurie begins to hold your waist, now leaning into you slowly.
as you both continue to stand on the balcony, you and laurie lean in together for a slow but passionate kiss.
you bring your hand to his cheek, and continue to kiss. the two of you felt alive at this point. more alive than you both have ever felt, ever.
you knew you should’ve told him how you felt years ago, although laurie was in love with jo at the time. gladly, you didn’t think that was the case anymore.
laurie loved you. and you only.
you loved laurie. and laurie only.
you both moved away from the kiss, laughing and sniggering still as if you were still children. you both knew that you weren’t children anymore, since time and your childhoods have gone so fast, and you both had nothing you could do to change that.
you were just happy in the moment. the moment you were continuously picturing for years. you never thought it would ever happen, but here you both were. in that moment together.
you notice something different about him that you didn’t see before.
“laurie. you grew out your hair!” you say, playing with it a little.
laurie laughs at you slightly, “i guess you could care for it?” he says, now looking at you.
you smile at him happily, “always, laurie… always!” you say, kissing his cheek.
suddenly someone with a letter on a tray walks to you and laurie. you pick it up swiftly and open it, making sure laurie stands by you though it, as you think the letter could be what you think it could be.
you read the letter. you were right.
you stand next to laurie and sob into his arms.
“it’s beth…” you say as you put your head into his chest, letting laurie hold you.
you let laurie read the letter. it’s from marmee, clarifying beth’s death.
you weren’t as close to beth as jo was to her. but you did have your fun times. especially that same moment when you, laurie and your sisters were in laurence house together, as beth played the piano while you and laurie would attempt to dance but instead you’d be treading on each others feet.
although you and beth weren’t as close as her and jo were, she still was your sister.
it was as if you planned out her death, as if you planned out your own with the will you wrote and told laurie about a few years ago.
MINI TIME SKIP -
it took you a couple of days to get through beth’s death. you were still in paris, you told marmee you’d come home as soon as possible.
you had a mix of feelings about what could be happening between you and laurie and thoughts of beth, and the fact that you weren’t there to support her when she was dying.
you stood on the balcony of the home you were staying in with aunt march. aunt march wasn’t doing so great herself either. she was falling ill now.
laurie came to see you that same day. he wanted to talk about the relationship you had but he was unsure whether you were okay to talk about it after hearing about beth’s passing.
“i keep remembering that will i wrote when beth had scarlet fever..” you remind laurie, as you both stand together.
“you bequeathed me a plaster horse, if i remember correctly.” laurie thought, as he looked at you.
“i had my death all planned out.. all rehearsed in my mind…” you say, trying not to cry, “i had beth’s all rehearsed and ready too… thought it would.. tear me open.. or burn me down like a house. but now im just frozen!”
laurie took your hand in his again. “ill come and see you everyday, y/n…” he says, admiring you but also making sure that you’re okay.
you look up at him, slowly twiddling your thumb with his, “promise me?” you ask.
he looks at you again, watching you twiddling your thumb with his, “yes.” laurie told you, now reaching into his pocket for something.
you wonder what he was looking for, so you decided to look out at the view from the castle balcony.
it took him a few seconds to find what he was looking for. he brought a black box from his pocket, and showed it to you.
you turned back to him and looked at the box. you were stunned.
“so.. y/n.. could we make it last forever?” he said, opening the box to reveal the engagement ring inside.
you were taken by surprise that laurie wants to marry you. you smile widely, and nod at him, letting him put the ring on your finger confirming your engagement.
MINI TIME SKIP -
you and laurie were on their way home from your long trip around europe with aunt march. aunt march had briefly found out about your engagement to laurie before passing out, and being taken home with aunt carrol and her daughter florence, who had been your other company before laurie arrived.
as soon as you arrived home, laurie helped you out of the carriage to find meg, marmee, father, amy, and jo (slowly) running out to greet you both.
marmee (with her good eye) noticed a ring on your finger. funnily enough, it wasn’t the same ring that laurie gave you a few days ago. it wasn’t the engagement ring.
you smiled down at the ring, and then looked back up at laurie.
“that’s not an engagement ring!” marmee says, realising something.
you and laurie smile at each other as you notice marmee admiring your ring.
“it’s a wedding ring!” marmee says, pulling you into a large hug and kissing you on the cheek, while father shakes laurie’s hand to congratulate us both, and to thank him for marrying you.
you smile at your mother again. “i cant quite get my glove over it!” you laugh, then moving to laurie to give your ‘husband’ a kiss on the cheek.
MINI TIME SKIP -
the hustle and bustle around the march house after yours and laurie’s return and the surprise of your marriage spread amongst the house. especially to mr laurence (laurie’s grandfather), who had told him to go abroad after jo turned him down.
you were happy. both of you were.
turns out that jo was falling in love with the professor she met at the boarding house in New York. she arrived home a week after yours and laurie’s return after being out in town and the professor was waiting for her.
you knew she was in love with him. jo knew you had always been in love with laurie.
you kindly persuaded jo to tell professor bhaer how she felt about him, and from soon after that, all your sisters and yourself were in love.
you all sat together, you and laurie at the piano as laurie played and you rested your head on his shoulder, meg and john with kitty and minnie, marmee and father and finally jo and bhaer.
it just fitted together so perfectly.
please don’t copy my work! <3

Eric looks like the kind of guy that would just squish your cheeks in his hands before pulling you in for the biggest kiss, and he would grin and laugh against your lips.
So full of happiness and love for you.

Imagine Eric preparing the nursery for your baby
With a relieved sigh, you shut off the sink and lightly shake your hands before reaching over to the hand towel you have hanging on a nearby railing to dry your hands. Resting against the sink, you stare out the window and admire the view. The darkened sky emphasizes the soft white glow of the moon and the stars that illuminate the night sky alongside the lit lantern at your side.
"Bean," You say, hanging the towel back on its railing and holding a hand to your stomach. "I love you but please stop kicking my bladder. Your mother would like to sleep through the night." You feel a kick underneath your palm and let out a chuckle. "I thought not."
You waddle out of the bathroom, intent on going back to the bedroom, and try to catch up on sleep when you spot a faint glow coming from underneath a closed door. Confused, you slowly make your way to the door, hearing movement coming from the room as you got closer. Upon reaching the room, you move for the doorknob and turn the handle, pushing the door open. You spot Eric kneeling in the middle of the room, where he was using a screwdriver to secure a screw onto the crib. "What are you doing?"
Eric looks up, surprise written on his face. He sets down the pieces and hurries to stand, making his way to you. Reaching you, he gives you a look over before holding your hands. "What are you doing up?" He asks, gently scolding you. "You should be sleeping; the doctor said you need as much rest as you can get."
You glance down to your stomach. "Tell that to Bean. I had to go to the bathroom due to all their kicking."
He shakes his head with a laugh. Kneeling down, he places a hand on your stomach and rubs a small circle on your belly before kissing it. "Bean, you have to let your mother sleep." Unlike before, Bean makes no movement, seemingly following their father's words and he presses another kiss to your stomach.
With a smile, you raise a hand and cup his face, your thumb brushing against the apple of his cheek. He leans into your touch, eyes closing as he enjoys the motion. Your hand trails down to his jaw, your fingers moving against the slight stubble before two fingers rest under his chin as you tilt his head up. "Now what are you doing up?" You ask him. He languidly opens his eyes, his lovestruck gaze meeting yours. "You need to get some rest too."
"I couldn't fall asleep and I didn't want to wake you with my moving so I decided to do something productive with my time." With a reluctant sigh, Eric stands up and motions to the crib. Taking your hand, you both walk toward the wooden object. Your fingers move along the edge of the crib as you take in the bed. "I'm almost done setting it up. I just need to screw in a few more screws and then it will be ready for Bean."

*faints* gimme something eric x gender-neutral! reader (who’s one of the workers in the palace) are in a secret relationship that really isn’t a secret cause they’re like god awful at hiding it
and when they decide to reveal it to everyone they’re like we know.. especially grimsby he knew the entire time
Sneakin' Around With You: Prince Eric
Tumblr media
"Eric stop you know I have to get back to work." You said as he kept kissing you making you giggle.
"Well I mean technically you work for me so you can only get in trouble if I say so." Eric said as you rolled your eyes at him.
"Stop you know I don't want to seem like have special privileges because the prince likes me." You said.
"That he does. He likes you. so. very. much." He said in between kisses as you kissed him back.
"Alright seriously, I have to get back to work. I'll see you tonight." You said giving him one last kiss.
"That you will sweetheart." He said giving you one last smile before you left to get back to work.
"That you will sweetheart." He said giving you one last smile before you left to get back to work.
You and Eric had been in a secret relationship for nearly three months, you two decided to keep it a secret for now just wanting to enjoy the relationship without anyone's opinions and mostly because you were worried what people would think or say about you someone who worked at the palace, dating the prince, so for now you guys enjoyed the sneaking around and secret moments shared together.
"They together again?" Grimsby asked  Lashana as they waited for one of you two to appear.
"Yes. They really think they have us fooled huh?" Lashana said.
Yes everyone knew about you and the prince and I mean everyone. They found it cute how you two thought you had them fooled so they played along with it, waiting until the moment that you two would come out and say that you were dating officially.
"And where you off tonight? Looking all pretty as well." Your mom asked as you got ready.
"Just meeting up with some friends tonight." You said to her.
"Friends? And not a certain prince?" She asked making you panic a bit.
"No, I mean we might run into him but we were gonna get some food and probably tour the market." You said as she just hummed in response.
After saying goodnight to her, you ran off to your's and Eric's meeting spot shocked to see him not there already. You took a seat on the bench and waited figuring maybe he ran into his mom or something and couldn't sneak away.
"Sorry, I'm late. I was on my way and I ran into Grimsby and he started asking me all these questions about whether or not I would be seeing you or not." He said as you stood up and wrapped your arms around him.
"It's alright. My mom did the same thing to me." You said smiling at him.
You two walked around the markets hand in hand knowing that none of the villagers would say anything about you guys.  Eric had been stopped by one of the merchants to discuss something but you kept walking until a piece of jewelry had caught your eye.
"That would so pretty on you sweetheart." Eric said standing by you as you looked at the necklace.
"It would but I couldn't...." You started to say.
"Did you even say those words? No, I offered to buy it for you, so shh." He said placing a kiss on your lips.
You smiled still wondering what you had done to deserve someone like him. After paying for the necklace, he had you turn around so he could put it on you, and then you gave him a kiss as you two continued walking around before walking down to the shore.
"Grimsby do you think they will ever tell us?" The Queen asked as her and Grimsby watched you two laugh and be so affectionate with each other on the beach.
"Maybe one they will. I think that they are just enjoying being what they think is "secretive" with their love." He said.
"I know but they are so cute together, you can feel the love that they have for each other when they are in the room together." She said.
You sat on the beach talking about everything and you thought maybe it was time that you guys told everyone about your relationship.
"My love, would it be bad if we told everyone?" You asked him.
"No, it wouldn't. Are you ready to tell everyone? I don't want you to feel pressured to." He said looking at you.
"I am. I mean it would be nice not to have to sneak around or wait to kiss you when no one is looking." You said playing with his hand.
"I couldn't agree more. Let's tell everyone at dinner tomorrow." He said placing a kiss on your lips.
The next day Eric had invited you to dinner with the queen and everyone, and he even came by your room to walk you there. You two walked into the dining room where everyone was and Eric had gathered everyone's attention.
"Everyone I would like to formally announce that me and y/n, have been dating for the past three months." He said squeezing your hand as you smiled at him.
"Oh Eric, we know." His mother said as you two looked at her shocked.
"You do?" He asked her as she stood in front of you guys.
"Yes, we do. And y/n I was so happy to learn that it was you who had stolen my son's heart, you will make such a lovely addition to the family." She said squeezing your hands and giving you a smile.
"Did everyone know?" You asked him.
"Yes, we did. You two aren't exactly the best at being secretive but we decided to let you two tell when you were ready." Grimsby said.
"Turns out we weren't so secretive as we thought." He said as you two laughed about it.
"I love you y/n." He said placing a kiss on your lips.
"I love you, Eric." You said smiling at him.

The ocean waves crashed against the side of the small ship, erupting in white seafoam and bubbles as the vessel journeys through the dark, deep waters to the newest destination. You held onto the thick, coarse rope, leaning off the edge, and letting the fresh, salty sea air blow through your hair as your booted feet planted firmly against the wooden beam of the ship's railing. You were coursing through wild uncharted waters, on the day of the Prince's birthday: your best friend, Eric. Eric had been your friend ever since you were both little children. You lived in the village near the castle and met Eric after he was adopted into the royal family.
You first met at the seaside, you remembered that day well and looked back upon it fondly; even after all these years. Your tiny feet in the wet, squishy sand, the surprisingly warm water lapping at your ankles, and the sound of a young boy laughing; giggling away, had gained your attention. You remembered turning, and seeing a small boy, no older than you at the time, with a flurry of raven black curls, barreling down the beach; a bright smile on his face. As a young child, you had never seen someone so excited to be at the beach. Then again, you guessed that the people in the village were used to the sights and beautiful smells of the seashore; you wondered if this boy had never seen the ocean before. Overall, it was nice. Seeing someone love the beach just as much as you.
Seeing that you were the only two children there, you both introduced yourselves and began playing with one another. And over the days and months, you two became great friends. Tossing rocks into the water to see who had the biggest splash, building lop-sided sand castles, and racing to the castle's kitchen; little Prince Eric always let you win. Even when Eric got his pup, Max, you both played with the dog, playing fetch until both you and the Prince were called home. And, as the years went on and on, the two of you got even closer.
No longer were you friends, but the most inseparable pair anyone had ever laid their eyes on. As young adults, when Eric was free to visit the village, he'd join you at the market, looking at fabrics, jewelry, and even homemade quilts. But, most of the time, just as you did as children, you would both spend time at the beach. You spent a lot of time there since it was both a place you and the Prince held so close to your hearts. The ocean breeze was calming, as were the sounds of the crashing waters against the harsh rocks. There, you both spoke of your day, life in general, and your dreams. There was hardly a time when you and Eric weren't by each other's side. Only when Eric was needed at the castle, his home away from the shore, for whatever princely duties, did you part.
And although both of your lives seemed to be full of sunshine and rainbows, that was far from the fact. You and Eric both had your fair share of hardships. He, Eric, wanted to be free of life inside the castle walls. Eric longed for adventure, sailing the beautiful seven seas, and filling his office with more treasure he had found along the way. And you, you wanted to get away from the village, similar to Eric. And like Eric, you wanted to go on daring adventures, go away to far-off places, and see the world. But, it was hard when you had to stay and take care of your ill grandmother. She was old and frail, and you had to watch over her when your mother had to go off to work. You loved your family deeply, but you wanted to chase that freedom that blew swiftly and sweetly in the salty sea air.
But, to add salt to the wound, you had a secret. You were in love. You were in love with your best friend. Originally, you were overjoyed. The amazing feeling of love overflowed throughout your entire body and soul as you realized that you were indeed in love with Eric. You loved when he ran a hand through his hair, trying to fix it when the wind blew against it, getting into his vision. You loved the ways his eyes lit up with deep fondness as he stared off at the sea or spoke about the newest treasure he had found. You loved his voice, beautiful and soft when he would hum or sing a song under his breath. He was entirely perfect.
Though, you had an inkling that the love you had for him was always there, simmering and sizzling below the surface. Though, as some time went on, you realized that your love could never be. He was a Prince, and you were just the daughter of a seamstress. It deeply saddened you, knowing that there was no chance that you could spend the rest of your days with the man you loved. But, you dreamed and you wished upon the great, shining stars in the sky that one day you and Eric could live happily ever after. Or at least, you could be in his life in any way, just being by his side is all you could ask for. But, you were selfish, and you often let your daydreams wander and think about the ‘what ifs.’ What if Eric felt the same about you? Maybe it was all your insecurities talking.
"Beautiful day, huh?" You heard the familiar soft voice, instantly allowing a smile to grace your features.
Turning your gaze away from the blue sea, your eyes landed on the soft brown eyes of your Eric, "Yes," You sighed softly, "The perfect day for someone's birthday..." You lightly teased, watching with a certain admiration as the dimples of Eric's cheeks deepened and his smile grew.
The man before you nodded, looking briefly at the wooden floorboards of the ship before looking back up at you. He, too, had a dilemma. It wasn't the fact that his mother was probably worried that he went off sailing again when she begged him not to, nor was it the seemingly gray and gloomy-looking clouds that speckled the sky. No... Eric was completely enchanted by you.
Looking up at you as you held on tightly to the rope, staring off at the sea; Eric stood simply in awe as the slowly setting sun gleamed against your soft skin. You looked stunningly beautiful, as always, the carefree smile that he adored on your face making him grin. You were truly breathtaking, a goddess among men; he could just stare at you forever.
Really, it was only a matter of time before the two of you fell in love with one another, as said in the words of your mother. But, somehow, no matter how long you've known each other, you both were incredibly oblivious to each other's feelings. Even though you had a knack for telling what Eric was thinking, and Eric had a few tricks in finding out when you were lying, you both were totally clueless about each other's feelings.
As if sensing the intensity of Eric's gaze, you turned your head once more. Tilting your head slightly to the side, you stared down at Eric, a small smile growing on your face. You couldn't help but admire the man before you, your eyes raking across his lean and sturdy figure; from his brown leather boots to the dark ruffled curls upon his head. He was truly a handsome sight.
"Well," Eric began, voice slightly breathless before he cleared his throat, his eyes shifting slightly from the tingling of nerves that flowed through him, "I came to see if you'd be joining in the festivities, or staying up there?" He asked, only to watch as you hopped down from the railing, your boots landing on the wooden floorboards with a thud.
Smiling up at him, you shrugged your shoulders, "I wouldn't dare miss out on it, Eric. After all, I heard there was going to be fireworks." You answered, following Eric as you headed to the other side of the ship where most of the crew were setting up for the party.
Eric mirrored your smile, looking down at you as he gently took your hand in his, "Thank you for being here beside me." His voice was gentle, yet sincere as his eyes locked with yours. You felt your cheeks heat up, your heart fluttering wildly in your chest, and your stomach twisting into knots as he gazed at you.
Shrugging your shoulders once again, you smiled sheepishly up at him, "Absolutely, Eric. Anything for you."
~~~
The fireworks lit up the sky in purples, reds, and blues, creating a brilliant display of bright colors. The loud booms of the explosions echoed throughout the sea and air, almost drowning out the cheers of the crowd on the deck. However, you were not paying any mind to the beautiful lights above, your eyes and mind were on the Prince on the deck, laughing and fooling around with his crewmates and friends. You watched as they hoisted Eric into the air, some singing a bright, cheerful tune as others drank away on their mead. You admired your best friend from above, his dog Max beside you, keeping you company; his warm fur grounding you.
The sky was a dark blue, the sun had long since set and as the night continued, the sky slowly littered with stars. It had been a long, lovely day. Pushing off the railing, you wandered over to the side of the ship, taking your time to stare up at the sky, gazing at the twinkling stars as the firework show finally ended. The moon shone brightly, illuminating the waves below. You breathed in deeply, sighing contently before you heard the sound of boots against the stairs of the ship, not even bothering to turn; you knew who now stood beside you.
It was calming, looking up at the night sky with Eric. He said nothing, falling into the peaceful silence with you. Though, you began to feel jittery, almost nervous as you glanced over at him. The moonlight shone down upon him with white angelic rays, highlighting his beautiful side profile. Your heart swelled, loving every single aspect of him, whether it was the curve of his lips, or his dark eyelashes that fluttered against his cheekbones every time he blinked.
"What did you wish for?" You asked abruptly, but yet softly, gaining the Prince's attention as he raised an eyebrow your way.
"What did I wish for?" He asked in return, only for you to nod your head before looking back at the sky before you. Eric took a moment to gaze at you, watching as the light of the lanterns on the ship cast soft shadows upon your form, giving you a certain glow. He let out a small breath, eyes and mind taking in the woman before him. Oh, how beautiful you looked in the moonlight. As if hearing his thoughts, you turned once more, meeting his gaze. You offered him a small smile, which he returned almost nervously. Placing one of his hands over yours, holding onto it, your touch anchored him. Caressing it gently with the soft pad of his thumb, he turned back to the sky, "I wish that tonight could last forever." He muttered softly, thoughtfully before turning to look down at you. "But I don't think I should've told you. Hearing that voicing your wishes out loud can cause them to never come true." He gave you a small charming smile, one that never failed to make your heart race.
You smiled, nodding as you slid a bit closer to the Prince, your shoulder brushing up against his arm. "Either way, your wish sounds wonderful."
Eric turned down to look at you once more, his eyes meeting yours, causing him to lose focus momentarily. His Adam's apple bobbing slightly as he swallowed thickly. He inhaled sharply through his nose as his eyes scanned your features, noting how you had gotten a new freckle upon the apple of your left cheek; probably from the almost constant sun no doubt, and the way that you slowly turned your hand you intertwined your fingers with his sent tingles throughout his arm. If Eric hadn't known any better, he would've thought he was about to confess his feelings for you. And maybe he was. Opening his mouth, Eric was just about to say your name, when there was a loud shout from the deck.
"Fire!" A voice called from the deck, "Fire!"
Eric's eyes widened as he quickly made his way down the stairs, almost tripping over his feet. Some of the crew members were trying to put out the flames, but they weren't quick enough and before Eric knew it, the whole ship was engulfed in flames, burning the wooden deck and burning down to the bottom of the ship to the top of the masts. People screamed, shouted, and ran for the lifeboats, dropping them down into the dark depths of the ocean below. Eric cursed silently as he jumped into action; he quickly ran to the edge of the railing, ready to jump in when he heard a bark.
Looking up and over to where he had previously been, he watched as Max became trapped, fire flickering and flaming around him. Eric rushed around fallen beams, climbing up the stairs and grabbing Max before tossing him into the water; carefully watching as Max made it to one of the lifeboats. Panic filled him just as the smoke filled his lungs, Eric looked around the burning ship, his eyes tearing up slightly as the flames grew higher and higher; where were you?
"Eric!" He heard your voice, turning abruptly and tightly clutching the side of the ship to see you in one of the lifeboats. Eric felt the tightness in his chest lessen slightly, seeing you safe, but, before he could try and do anything, a loud explosion knocked him against the beam; causing him to fall back into the water below.
You leaned forward, the lifeboat wobbling slightly as you watched as Eric fell from the ship and into the water. Not seeing him rise to the surface, you threw yourself into the ocean, ignoring the cries from the crewmates. Holding your breath, the salt water burned your eyes as you swam further down, finally spotting Eric's silhouette. Pushing yourself further down, your legs and arms ached as you finally reached the unconscious Eric. Wrapping your arms around his waist, you used all of the rest of your strength to swim back up to the surface, your lungs begging and crying out for fresh air as you swam up and finally broke through the surface.
You let out a large breath, coughing as you readjusted your hold on Eric, making sure his head was above the water as you looked around, the ship was far behind you and there were no lifeboats in sight. Trying not to panic, you could see the faint streetlights from the island only a bit away from you. Swimming with all your might, your body ran on the adrenaline that flowed through your blood, pushing the fear and anxiety away as you slowly but surely got to land.
The rising sun began to shine over you, warming your chilled skin as you dragged Eric towards the nearest beach. You stumbled upon the sand first, pulling Eric with you as you crawled onto the ground. Chest heaving with heavy breaths, you laid Eric onto the warm sand, raising your hand up to brush his wet curls from his face before checking his neck for a pulse. You let out a sigh of relief as you felt the soft thump beneath your fingertips, finally letting yourself rest and calm, knowing that Eric was alive and safe.
Raising your hand, you placed it on Eric's cheek, wiping off the sand before you lightly tapped him, "Eric, Eric, can you hear me?" You asked, trying to wake him, watching in anticipation as his eyelids flickered and he lightly groaned.
Slowly opening his eyes, he squinted them, taking in his surroundings before focusing them on the silhouette above him, "Y/N?" He asked, voice deep and hoarse as he blinked a few times before finally getting his vision back into focus; his brown eyes looking up into yours.
You let out a breathy sigh, your hand still resting on his cheek, "Thank God you're okay. Well, minus the small cut on your head there, do you have a concussion?” You abruptly asked, seeing as his eyes seemed fine, you let out a sigh, “I… I don’t know what I - I thought I lost..." You stuttered and then trailed off, you couldn't finish that sentence, closing your eyes briefly and taking another breath, "I'm so glad that you're alright." You finished weakly, the front of your teeth coming out to pull at the corner of your bottom lip. Eric blinked again, trying to calm his soaring heart; he didn't know if his almost drowning was the cause of his racing heart, or you above him, your voice and touch so soothing and calming.
His own lips parted slightly, his mouth dry as he tried to speak, "You saved me," He murmured, not caring about the slight twinge of pain that burned his throat, and how tired he felt, "Thank you, Y/N," His lips curved upward, his voice gentle as he spoke.
Your eyes closed, a soft smile crossing your lips as he moved his hand up to your cheek, the tips of his fingers brushing through your wet hair. "It's no problem, Your Highness," You lightly teased before your voice softened, "I don't know what I'd do without you." Your words caused his heart to soar, a surge of emotions running through his veins like electricity.
"You're not hurt, are you?" Eric asked, his eyebrows raising slightly with concern as his eyes raked over your face for any cuts or bruises, but you just shook your head.
Opening your eyes, you could only smile, "No, no, I'm fine, Eric. Just a bit out of breath is all." A laugh escaped your lips, shaking your head lightly as you watched him, admiring the man in front of you.
He seemed almost relieved as he nodded, relaxing. "Good." He said before moving his hand, the backs of his fingers brushing against your cheek. "When I was on that ship, and I couldn't find you... I was scared," He added after a minute, his thumb rubbing against your cheekbone gently. Your eyes drifted shut at the feeling of his touch, unable to stop yourself from leaning into his hand. His touch was so tender, so sweet. It sent shivers throughout your entire body as his hand continued to rub up and down your cheek; his touch sending little jolts through every cell in your body. "I was worried I'd never get to tell you how I feel."
Eric felt his chest tighten again as he watched your eyes open, the same curiosity held in them that Eric admired, "What do you mean?" You then asked, voice no louder than a mutter as Eric moved to sit up before speaking; one hand propping himself up and the other falling from your cheek and onto his lap.
"I don't know how to explain this... Well... I don't really have a word for it... I just... Know that my feelings for you go beyond friendship. I've never felt this strongly for anyone in my life. All I ever think about is you..." Eric replied quietly, his hand holding himself up digging into the rough sand below him.
You blinked, your stomach erupting into butterflies at his confession, "Really? Are you sure you're not concussed?" You breathed out, your mind racing as the ocean waves crashed gently upon the shore behind you, merely inches from touching you; but at Eric nod, you let out a shallow breath, "That’s… Nice…" You began, swallowing thickly, "Because, uhm, I- I feel the same, ever since we were children," You whispered, flushing lightly as Eric's eyes instantly snapped up to meet yours. "I cannot get over you."
"Wait, what? Really?" Eric questioned, completely shocked that you felt the exact same way as he did. The surprise and absolute joy he was feeling seemed to distract him from his fatigue and possible pain. His eyes widening similar to yours as you nodded, feeling your cheeks burning; both your hearts pounding and racing.
"Yes, of course," You said softly, smiling sheepishly as you looked down, "But I wanted to make sure that I wasn't reading too much into things because I'm not an expert in romance or anything. But I'm pretty sure that you're the love of my life," You chuckled lightly, cringing lightly from your chosen words, your eyes glimmering. "No matter how sappy or cliche that sounds now that I've said it," You continued, feeling a bit nervous as you took in the expression on Eric's face.
Eric smiled widely, his eyes crinkling at the corners, and those adorable dimples on full show as his hands rested on his knees, "Oh no, that was very cheesy." He chuckled lightly before leaning forward a bit, his fingers coming up to brush the stray speckles of sand from your cheek and temple, your cheek tingling at the simple touch. "And I think you're right about the whole 'too sappy' thing too." His eyes flashed with amusement, his thumb running along your jawline, and leaving behind a trail of goosebumps in its place.
"You just love to tease me," You muttered, rolling your eyes slightly before shifting your gaze, a light flush appearing on your cheeks as you leaned into his touch once more.
"Maybe," Eric replied softly, reaching out to tuck your damp hair behind your ear. "May I... May I kiss you?" He asked, his eyes holding a hint of uncertainty and worry.
You looked back up at him, your hand slowly clenched around the sand at your fingertips, the course and dry sand softly scratching at your palm. Eric's brown eyes drew you in, the small specks of gold shining under the bright morning sun. You slowly nodded your head, your eyes flickering between his brown ones before they closed as you felt Eric lean closer toward you. Your heart pounded hard against your chest as you felt his warm breath fan across your face, his hand cupping your cheek once more as his lips brushed against yours in a sweet, fleeting kiss before going in and claiming your mouth with his in a passionate kiss.
Your lips parted slightly at the sensation, your hands quickly reaching up to tangle themselves into Eric's soft, black curls. The taste of salt lingered on your lips, causing his heart to race even faster as he held you in his arms. The two sat in bliss before you both pulled away, both your faces flushed as you looked at each other. Your heart goes a million miles a minute as you let out a carefree and joyful laugh, making Eric smile at the pure sound of it.
Eric couldn't help but sigh softly, his eyes narrowing lazily as he gazed at you, goosebumps rising on the back of his neck as your fingers gently raked through the hair there, sending chills down his spine and a warm feeling flowing through his veins. The warmth he felt was nothing compared to the one he felt when he was near you; the warmth you gave him made him feel safe and secure; you had such a calming effect on him. Like the open sea, you always had the ability to wash away the worries in his mind, to bring him peace and tranquility.
Eric watched in a sort of awe, watching as the sun shined over you, lighting up your skin in a golden glow; the blue sky reflecting beautifully within your eyes as your long lashes fluttered against your cheeks. He knew that he loved you since the day he met you, that's for sure.
"Eric," You called to him, gaining his attention as you gestured to a few of the members of the castle coming down the stone and grassy walkway, all looking panicked as they rushed toward the beach where the two of you were sitting. Eric furrowed his brows in confusion, his eyes widening when he saw Sir Grimsby approaching, Max the dog in tow. He glanced between you and the others, noticing that they were all looking at the both of you, worry written across their features.
"Your Highness! What happened?" Sir Grimsby asked, coming over to help the Prince up, "You've been gone all night, we heard about the ship sinking!"
Eric just smiled, albeit a bit bashfully as he turned and offered you his hand, helping you up from the sandy beach, your feet sinking slightly into the wet sand as he pulled you close to him, his hand intertwining with yours as he spoke, "Yes, well, Y/N saved me... So, we're all good." He spoke, giving you a glance as Max came bounding over, his sandy paws landing on your legs as you ran your fingers through his fur with a smile.
Sir Grimsby sighed deeply, running a hand down his face in exhaustion as he gestured for you and the Prince to follow, muttering to himself, "I swear, if he keeps being reckless like this-" He cut himself off as he realized that Eric was holding onto your hand. He cleared his throat and pointedly ignored Eric's gaze, as he led the two of you towards the castle.
"I don't think your mother's going to be too happy to hear about this." You whispered to him, causing Eric to chuckle softly as he squeezed your hand comfortingly.
"Probably not, but she'll get over it..." He answered with a slight shrug, "She can't keep me away from the ocean forever."
You nodded, slightly swinging your arms together as you spotted the castle before you, "We may have to take a break from sailing for a little while," You told him, a small teasing lilt to your tone.
Eric grinned playfully at the thought, "I wouldn't mind," He replied, "As long as I am with you," He trailed off, turning his head slightly toward you.
Your heart melted at his words, his gaze lingering on you as his lips curved into a gentle smile. "I'll be here beside you." You mumbled quietly, your own lips tugging into a smile as you squeezed his hand tightly in return.
Eric matched your smile, his eyes gazing down into yours as he raised your hand, pressing his lips gently to your knuckles as the world around you both slowly floated away, disappearing beneath the calm waves.
"Your Highness!" A voice yelled, pulling you and Eric out of your own little bubble, the Prince before you turned to the voice that called down to the both of you.
"Coming, Grimsby!" Eric called up to him before he turned to look back down at you.
A small mischievous smirk graced your beautiful face, raising your other hand, gently pressing your finger upon his nose before letting go of his hand and walking backward towards the castle, "Last one to the kitchens is a rotten egg!"
Eric let out an amused huff, his own lips curling into a smirk before he ran up alongside you, unable to stop the laughter from flowing out of him as he let you win, just as he did when you were both children.
Summary: Eric meets (Y/n) at a marketplace and ends up saving her from a pushy pursuer.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
Closing her eyes, (Y/n) held the flower close to her lips and inhaled the strong scent as she turned her back to the stall. Out of al the various stalls set up in the market, (Y/n) always found herself wandering over to the one surrounded by flowers.
It wasn't that she couldn't grow any flowers herself- she had thousands upon thousands of seeds sewn into the ground and buds beginning to bloom. But a freshly cut flower was always found in her room and she couldn't resist buying a new flower for her vase every week.
Just as (Y/n) opened her eyes and turned to the left, a gasp tumbled from her lips when she felt her body colliding with another. Her head bumped into a hard chest, her hands steadied themselves on two tense arms and she felt a pair of strong hands clutching the back of her arms. Even though the touch was firm, there was something gentle to it, the fingers were delicate on her skin instead of digging into her flesh.
For a brief moment, (Y/n) didn't dare look up. She let her eyes adjust and waited for her head to stop spinning before she slowly raked her eyes up.
She had bumped into a man. He was wearing high waisted trousers over a thin, frilled white button up shirt and an ocean blue jacket over the top. The stranger was tall, (Y/n) had to tilt her head back to find his face and when she did, intense blue eyes were already piercing down at her, hiding beneath raven black curls. Whoever the stranger was, he certainly was handsome.
Eric felt dazed when he looked down at the girl in front of him. Long tendrils of hair were hanging loose over her shoulders and she wore a dusty pale pink dress that stopped just below the knees. Her eyes were piercing and held his gaze the moment his eyes found hers.
He wasn't sure how long he stood there staring down at her as all the noises around them faded into white noise. It could have been seconds, it could have been hours passing them by as they stood chest to chest with Eric's hands still loosely holding her arms like he thought she was about to fall.
After another minute ticked by and the trance Eric felt like he was under slowly started to lift, his eyes cast down.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't paying much attention," Eric bent down between them and picked up the flower the girl seemed to have dropped when they collided. "An orchid..." A spark shot through Eric when her fingers brushed the back of his hand when she moved to take the flower back from him.
"I'm afraid I wasn't looking where I was going either," (Y/n) brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear but she couldn't stop herself from smiling up at the stranger in front of her.
The way he smiled made dimples appear on his cheeks and his eyes creased at the corners in a rather charming way. He looked like he was about to say something more but (Y/n) watched in slight dismay as he turned away from her when a hand rested on his shoulder.
"Eric, we should move onto the next stall." The older gentleman smiled kindly towards (Y/n) before he patted Eric's shoulder and turned to give them a moment alone. When Eric turned back to look at (Y/n), his handsome smile slowly started to deflate.
"I have to go... sorry again for bumping into you." Something in Eric felt like it was sinking, maybe it was his stomach or maybe it was his heart. But the thought of turning away and leaving the beautiful stranger in front of him made his mood turn sour. Grimsby wanted to show him something, most likely one of the spice stalls and they didn't have long to spend here in the town before they needed to go back to the palace.
No time for daydreaming and no room in the schedule for unexpected encounters today.
(Y/n) didn't know what to say so she settled for nodding and smiling sweetly up at the stranger who she now knew to be called Eric. His hand moved out towards her and (Y/n) held her breath as she watched him, wondering what he was about to do. It looked like he was stuck between wanting to touch her face and wanting to move her hair but his hand paused mid-way and he seemed to think better of it. With his hand stuck in the air, (Y/n) watched him settle for hooking his index finger around some of her hair which he curled before placing it delicately around her ear.
She watched a blush creep up his neck and dust over his cheeks before he dipped his head in a silent gesture and turned slowly on his heels, heading over towards Grimsby.
(Y/n) took a few moments to breathe and regain her composure before she dared move away from the spot she had been glued to for the last few minutes. She hadn't managed to look around many of the stalls yet but somehow, they didn't hold the same sense of magic now that the handsome stranger had gone.
But she pushed forward, heading down the dirt track towards the next lot of stalls she had yet to explore. There were quite a few vendors offering their mix matched items. Some were holding out diced fruit, others were clad with jewellery offering pearls, chains and ruby rings that didn't sparkle enough to be real jewels.
Moving towards the fruit stall, (Y/n) looked among the exotic fruits before settling on a small bowl of melon, passing a handful of coins to the older lady.
(Y/n) sat down on a nearby rock to eat her melon but her eyes kept scouting round, wondering where Eric had disappeared to. He was tall enough for her to be able to spot him easier in a crowd but it took a few minutes until her eyes finally locked onto a head of curly black hair. Even from a long distance, (Y/n) was sure she could see him smiling and he stooped down to smell the spices in the old man's hand.
She wondered what he did for a living. (Y/n) was at the market almost every week and she hadn't bumped into him or locked her eyes on him before.
After a little while, (Y/n) lost sight of Eric again and it made her heart deflate but she tried to push the disappointment to the back of her mind as she continued to scan around the smaller stalls.
"Would you like a drink?"
Turning her head to the right, (Y/n) smiled at the young man and stopped in her tracks. He had long dark hair and was dressed smartly for being in the marketplace but there was something about his smile that made (Y/n) feel uneasy. He didn't have a kind or swooning smile like Eric, this stranger's smile flashed his pointed teeth and made his eyes narrow and darken.
Instinctively, (Y/n) leaned back a little when he leaned closer and she realised there wasn't a lot of space between them, not as much as she'd like, anyway.
"Oh, no thank you," (Y/n) shook her head and moved her hand, she didn't want to be rude in case he was a vendor on the market. Turning down a free sample didn't often go down well with a lot of people here.
But the more (Y/n) observed him, she realised he didn't look like he belonged to a stall. All of the stalls within close range of them were already occupied and the drink he was holding out to her was in a dark blue bottle. (Y/n) didn't know what was in it and she didn't want to fid out either.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing here alone?" Again, the stranger held the bottle closer to (Y/n) like he was about to push it to her lips and force her to take a swig. He had his free arm behind his back and his head ticked to the side like he was becoming impatient with her already. What did he want? There weren't many people here who would offer out a free drink unless they wanted to gain something in return and (Y/n) dared not think what he wanted to gain from her.
"I'm waiting for someone."
"Why don't you have a drink and we can go for a walk somewhere."
Eric took the small cupp of milk the old lady offered out to him and took a large gulp to fight off the spice he had just tried which had gone right up his nose and burned down the back of his throat. Whatever spice that was, he wouldn't be having any more of it.
He patted his chest and let out a small cough before he tried to smile when she started to laugh. He should have stuck to smelling the spices instead of tasting them too.
"Thank you, but I don't think I'll try anymore." Nodding towards Grimsby, Eric shook the lady's hand before he moved over towards the next stall.
They weren't going to be at the market for much longer, just a few more stalls and then they would be making their way back to the palace. Something caught in the back of Eric's throat again at the thought of leaving without seeing the mysterious girl again that he had bumped into. There was something about her that made him want to smile and had his stomach doing summer saults. If he left here without at least knowing her name, he might not bump into her again and Eric didn't know if he could handle that.
For what felt like the tenth time in the past hour, he scanned his eyes around the market. His height let him see above the sea of people bustling past him and he tried to find her in the crowd.
His footsteps intentionally slowed but he could feel his lips curling upwards when his eyes focused in on those long waves of hair and that pale dress that stood out in the sea of yellow and blues. Eric watched her with slight confusion as she slowly pushed a bottle back towards whoever was holding it in front of her. She had a smile on her face that looked forced and made Eric's shoulders slump down while his eyes followed her trying to weave around the stranger to get away.
Was she alright?
"You're far too pretty to be wandering around here alone, you should come with me." It sounded more of a command than a request and it made (Y/n)'s muscles tense and a shiver riveted down her spine when he leaned closer once again. She reached out her hand and pressed her palm to his chest to stop him from getting any closer before she tried to turn away and leave.
She only got two steps away before fingers latched around her wrist like iron cuffs locking onto her and it made her freeze in place.
"Don't walk away from me."
(Y/n) found herself being pulled behind him and for a few seconds she stayed stunned into silence as he yanked her arm to get her to follow him in the opposite direction of the market. But when her strength came flooding back to her and an icicle of fear set in her stomach, (Y/n) dug her heels into the dirt and pulled back.
"Please let go." His grip only got tighter and (Y/n) could feel the bruises already burning beneath his calloused fingers.
"Come on."
Reaching out, (Y/n) grabbed at his wrist to try and free his hold on her but it only made his grip tighten until she couldn't feel the tips of her fingers anymore. But with her body tense and stiff as a board, he wasn't able to drag her any further.
When his free hand moved towards her, (Y/n) thought for a moment that he was about to hit her and she flinched but nothing came at her. A shriek left her lips when his hand moved instead to the lower hem of her dress. She wasn't sure whether he was trying to rip her dress, pull it up to expose her undergarmants or if he wanted to try and drag her away by her dress. Whatever he was trying to do, he was met with resistance as (Y/n) kicked him.
"No- no get off!"
A haze of blue shrouded (Y/n)'s vision and she stumbled back when something came between her and her attacker- no, not something, someone.
Her feet scuffed beneath her and she tumbled back until an arm hooked around the front of her waist and a large but soft hand clamped around her hip to hold her steady. (Y/n) reached her hands out and grabbed the arm in front of her, holding onto it for dear life as she steadied herself so she didn't fall to the floor.
Red was all Eric could see when he thundered down the dirt path just as the strange man grabbed his mysterious girl's dress and tried to pull it up. Eric didn't know what he said, words tumbled from his mouth but white noise was blurring in his ears as his eyes focused on his girl.
Rage and a newfound protective feeling surged through Eric the moment he reached her. He couldn't seem to stop, he had been running away from Grimsby and down to them both at such a fast pace that when he got to them, he was going too fast. His body collided with the stranger and accidentally knocked into the girl at the same time, causing her to fall backwards and her wrist to be yanked free of the man's aggressive hold.
Eric turned his head for a split second in her direction and his arm latched out around her waist, plastering to her chest as his fingers dug into the soft flesh of her hip to stop her from hitting the ground. He could feel her shaking when her fingers grasped at his upper arm and shoulder and that was all he needed for the rage to take over again.
(Y/n) pressed her forehead into Eric's shoulder and glued her front up against his back that was rigid and stooped over like he was about to pounce. His hand seemed to get tighter around her hip but it was a comforting tightness, assuring her he wasn't going anywhere and he nudged her until she was fully behind him.
He became a human shield, anything that wanted to get to her had to go through him first.
"The lady said no." Each word was laboured and forced out with harsh breaths and a hoarse voice. He sounded so different than he did earlier, there was no sugar in his voice and no smile on his face. His words were menacing, threatening and daring.
"Huh, what lady-" The man tried to gain back his own breath but when he took a step forward and his head tilted to see who had gotten in the way, his heart lurched into his throat. "Y-your Highness..." His jaw hung open but he couldn't seem to say anything else, all he could do was tremble in his shoes.
Highness?
As (Y/n) tilted her head so she could perch her chin on her saviour's shoulder, she could feel her own blood draining from her head and rushing down to her stomach. Eric. He was the Prince she had never clapped eyes on before, her knight in shining armour was in fact his Higness the Prince who was usually away at sea. She had walked into the Prince this morning and then he had come to her rescue when he didn't have to.
"Sir, I- I didn't-"
"Leave. Before I have you arrested." Eric straightened up to his full height until he towered over the two people in front and behind him.
His chest heaved but he puffed out his chest and tensed his shoulders so the girl was fully behind him, unable to be stared at by her attacker. His head tilted to the side and his voice was slow and gruff, he wasn't in the mood to hear hollow apologies. He was in the mood to throw the man in the cells and have him rot in there or to reach out and punch him like he almost did until he felt the girl behind him tightening her hands on his arm.
Eric had never so much as hit someone before, let alone punch or get into a brawl or a fight and it wouldn't do him any good to start now. He was always calm and composed and made his mother proud, she wouldn't be pleased if he started a fight, even if it was to defend someone. And he didn't want the first day he met this girl to be where he started a fight.
The moment he was out of sight, tripping and scuttling back down the dirt path, Eric finally let his body relax and his shoulders slouched before he turned around.
(Y/n)'s eyes widened as she stared up at the Prince, unable to find anything to say, but she didn't need to. He moved before she could try to talk, his hand that had become frozen on her hip slowly moved until he was cradling her wrist in the palm of his hand. When his other hand cupped her jaw, (Y/n) felt her knees caving in.
"Are you alright?"
"I think so... I- if I knew I'd bumped into the Prince earlier I would-"
"I don't think it matters who I am, I'm more interested in knowing your name." Eric's thumb slowly brushed over the back of her wrist that was already starting to bruise and was lucky not to be broken.
He knew he should have removed his hand from her face but something within him prevented him from moving away. All he could do was brush her jaw with his thumb and stare into her eyes that looked like the midnight sky.
"(Y/n)." She could barely breathe when he leaned down to rest his temple against hers.
"Well then, (Y/n)... would you like to spend the day with me?"

Eric’s eyes stared across the marketplace. The flurry of colorful fabrics and the sound of music, both of which he would usually pause to admire, had no power against his pounding heart.
In his hands, he held a rolled up piece of parchment. He, along with his crew, had just returned home from yet another adventure on the open seas. With them, they had brought back a host of treasures and discoveries from other kingdoms.
His boots dug into the sand with every step he took towards a small beach house. His sun-kissed skin glowed in the warm summer air. Having not even gone to visit his mother since his return, much to Grimsby’s chagrin, he still smelled heavily of sea salt and driftwood.
He admired the fresh flowers that grew around the beach house. Bursts of pinks and oranges, along with other shades of a setting sun, brought a smile to his face.
Pushing open the door, he gazed around the main room of the house. It was empty of people, but still filled with life by objects from distant shoes. Fine silks and other fabrics, gemstones, paintings, and other wonders of the world decorated the house’s interior.
To anyone else, it may have appeared like the place needed a decent cleaning. To Eric, however, it was a treasure trove of items waiting to be studied and admired.
Instead of venturing further into the collection, Eric turned and quietly entered another door that led into a much cozier atmosphere. The new room was slightly smaller than the last.
His eyes first came upon an unmade bed, blankets thrown about haphazardly. There was also a desk that was littered in writing materials as well as a few gemstones.
On the other side was a small kitchen and dining area. In a pot, stew was being prepared. Steam was billowing out an open window, mingling and disappearing into the soft breeze of summer.
But what really caught Eric’s eye was you.
Another door within the room, which led outside into a beautiful garden of flowers, vines, and trees, was left open. You sat just outside the threshold, unaware you had a visitor.
A book rested in your palms. Eric could tell you were enthralled by whatever its contents were. Hopefully you would feel the same about the rolled parchment within his grasp.
You looked up, startled by a sudden call of your name. Once your eyes met those of Eric, however, your expression burst into a wide grin. The book was quickly placed aside and you rose to greet him.
“You’re back!”
“With a gift,” he smiled, holding out the parchment. “I had it created for you when we visited one of the coastal kingdoms.”
Eric watched with anticipation as you quickly unraveled the parchment. The quiet gasp that escaped you and the way your eyes brightened made his heart race.
His smile widened, “I assume you like it then?”
“Like it?” you asked, finally meeting his gaze. “Eric, I love it! Thank you!”
On the parchment was a painting, filled with hues of violet, pink, and blue to create a midnight sky. Specks of yellow and orange lit up the night in a stream of glowing lanterns over a shimmering ocean. In the background was a kingdom with a large castle at its center. The work was completed with both the artist’s signature and the kingdom’s name in the corner.
“We made some trades at another kingdom’s ports,” said Eric. “They were holding an annual lantern festival for their princess, who had recently returned home. I thought you might appreciate the beauty of their customs, even if you weren’t there to see the festival for yourself, so I had this commissioned for you before we left. I suspected you’d enjoy adding it to your archives.”
Eric’s eyes softened at the smile on your face. The way your eyes lit up as your fingertips gently traced over the painting’s edges sent butterflies fluttering through his stomach.
With nothing but the sounds of distant gulls calling and waves softly crashing onto the shore, Eric lost himself in his thoughts. Unable to contain himself, he placed a hand on your shoulder to bring your attention to him.
Eyes meeting, you could sense the new tension in the air. You allowed Eric to shift closer, his hands softly caressing the skin of your cheeks. You admired the seafoam hue of his eyes, which now emitted the flurry of emotions he had been feeling since the day he met you.
“I missed you so very much.”
