How Many Times Has the PlayStation Network Been Hacked?
Tumblr media
Sony, the renowned multinational conglomerate, has grappled with a series of high-profile data breaches and security incidents over the years, leaving a trail of compromised user data and significant financial repercussions. From state-sponsored cyber attacks to defiant hacker groups, Sony's digital fortresses have been repeatedly breached, exposing the vulnerabilities of even the most prominent corporations in the digital age.
The Most Recent Incidents
In October 2023, Sony notified 6,791 current and former employees that their data had been compromised in a breach that occurred earlier in the year. The intrusion, which took place in late May, was part of the widespread MOVEit attacks that targeted hundreds of companies and government agencies. Sony stated that it detected the breach on June 2 and promptly addressed the situation, asserting that no customer data was implicated. Just a month prior, in September 2023, Sony found itself investigating another alleged hack. The hacker group RansomedVC claimed to have stolen a staggering 260 GB of proprietary data from Sony's systems, including a PowerPoint presentation and source code files. However, the credibility of this claim was challenged by another hacker, MajorNelson, who accused RansomedVC of being "scammers" attempting to gain influence. Sony affirmed that it was investigating the matter but refrained from providing further details, stating that no customer data appeared to be implicated in this incident.
The Infamous 2014 Sony Pictures Hack
One of the most notorious cyber-attacks against Sony occurred in 2014 when state-affiliated North Korean hackers, known as the "Guardians of Peace," infiltrated Sony Pictures' networks. This audacious breach resulted in the theft of a staggering 100 terabytes of data, including unreleased films, personal employee information, internal emails, salary details, and a wealth of other sensitive information. The hackers not only purloined the data but also employed the Shamoon virus to wipe data from Sony's systems, compounding the damage. As the studio grappled with the aftermath, the hackers began leaking portions of the stolen data, including unreleased movies and confidential communications that revealed embarrassing exchanges between employees. The attack was believed to be retaliation for the planned release of the comedy film "The Interview," which satirized North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The hackers issued threats, warning of a "bitter fate" for those who watched the movie and ominously referencing the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Initially, Sony capitulated and pulled the movie, but later reversed course following public pressure, including from then-President Barack Obama, and released the film in a limited theatrical and online format. The repercussions of the 2014 hack were far-reaching. Employees filed a lawsuit against Sony, alleging economic harm due to the exposure of their personal data. The studio agreed to pay up to $8 million in compensation, fraud protection services, and legal fees. Additionally, the cost of repairing Sony's systems was estimated to be around $35 million.
Earlier Breaches and Security Incidents
Sony's history of data breaches and security incidents extends back over a decade. In 2011, the company faced a series of attacks that exposed the personal details of millions of customers. In April of that year, hackers accessed the personal data of 77 million Sony PlayStation Network (PSN) users, including names, emails, addresses, birthdates, usernames, and passwords. The incident resulted in a several-week service outage for the PlayStation Network, causing frustration among gamers. A month later, in May 2011, Sony announced that personal details of 25 million Sony Online Entertainment customers had been stolen, including information about PC games purchased through the system. Additionally, in June 2011, hackers targeted several Sony Pictures-associated websites, compromising over one million user accounts and exposing music codes and coupons. Beyond data breaches, Sony has also faced denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and website defacements. In December 2014, a group called Lizard Squad claimed responsibility for a DDoS attack that took down the PlayStation Network, preventing up to 160 million gamers from accessing the service during the Christmas holiday season. In August 2017, the hacker group OurMine gained access to Sony PlayStation social media accounts and claimed to have accessed the PlayStation Network database, collecting registration information. While the group positioned itself as a security firm attempting to reach PlayStation employees, its tactics were questionable.
The Road Ahead
Sony's tumultuous history of data breaches and security incidents serves as a sobering reminder of the ever-present cyber threats facing corporations and the need for robust cybersecurity measures. As technology continues to evolve, companies must remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their digital assets and protecting the privacy of their customers and employees. While the financial and reputational costs of these incidents have been substantial, the lessons learned from Sony's experiences could prove invaluable in fortifying the defenses of not only Sony but also other organizations against the relentless onslaught of cybercriminals and state-sponsored actors. As the digital landscape becomes increasingly complex, Sony's path forward must be paved with heightened security protocols, comprehensive risk assessments, and an unwavering commitment to data protection. Only by learning from the past and embracing a culture of cybersecurity can Sony and other corporations hope to navigate the treacherous waters of the digital age with confidence and resilience. I just assume anyone begging me to vote for Joe Biden with 0 mentions of Palestine on their blogs are racist white supremacists who, at the minimum, think killing arabs will bring them rights. Guessing you cheered when they televised Shock & Awe when we invaded Iraq. When you racists lose I will cheer :)
Okay let's break this down piece by piece.
First of all I don't "beg" anyone to do anything. More so I advise people TO VOTE because he is LITERALLY the only thing standing between a CONVICTED FELON RAPIST taking not only control of the company but becoming a Dictator "only for a day though" and talks all this stuff about being a "President for Life":
And with the Supreme Courts' ruling of giving Presidents immunity alongside the case for him STEALING FEDERAL DOCUMENTS BEING DROPPED:
If people do NOT vote, we could get our society turned upside down to NORTH KOREA.
And I bring that up since Trump is good buddies with its dictator Kim Jong Un alongside being buddies with Putin and Viktor Orban.
youtube
youtube
And need I remind you if Trump's Project 2025 goes into fruition, the US will become a CHRISTIAN THEOCRACY.
youtube
Do you KNOW how many people will DIE in that??
Is Palestine important? Yes BUT we HAVE to take care of our country since if we don't how can we help another?
So what on earth are you even talking about with cheering and killing arabs?
No I'm trying to make sure my country doesn't become China, North Korea, Russia, Iran or Pakistan.

SEOUL, March 1 (UPI) -- South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol called for unification with North Korea in a speech Friday, while condemning the "repressive rule" of the Pyongyang regime.
"Unification is not just an issue confined to the Korean Peninsula," Yoon said in televised remarks celebrating the 105th anniversary of Korea's independence movement against Japanese colonizers.
"The tyranny and human rights abuses of the North Korean regime deny the universal values of humanity," he said. "Unification is precisely what is needed to expand the universal values of freedom and human rights."
Yoon's comments come as inter-Koerean tensions are at their highest in years, amid a steady stream of weapons tests and bellicose rhetoric from the North and a stronger military stance from the South.
Last month, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un proclaimed South Korea the "principal enemy" and publicly rejected a longstanding official policy goal of peaceful reunification.
Yoon called the declaration "truly deplorable."
"North Korea still continues its totalitarian system and repressive rule and is unable to escape from the worst forms of degradation and poverty," he said. "The North Korean regime relies solely on nuclear weapons and missiles while trapping its 26 million citizens in a quagmire of misery and despair."
Yoon also hailed Seoul's improving relationship with Tokyo, saying the two have become "partners" after a painful history that includes Japan's 1910-1945 colonial occupation of Korea.
Since taking office in 2022, Yoon has moved to repair frayed ties with Japan, which cratered after a 2019 ruling by South Korea's Supreme Court ordered Japanese companies to compensate Korean victims of wartime forced labor.
Seoul proposed a plan last March to compensate the victims through a public foundation without demanding contributions from Japan, leading to a series of summits between Yoon and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The thawing relationship has also led to stronger trilateral security ties with the United States against North Korean nuclear and missile threats, including a three-way summit in Camp David in August.
"Now, Korea and Japan are working together to overcome the painful past," Yoon said Friday.
"Sharing the values of freedom, human rights and the rule of law, our two countries have become partners in the pursuit of common interests for global peace and prosperity."

2. Look at YoonA’s latest projects line-up, everything is going well for her ㅋㅋㅋ 7. All are doing really wellㅋㅋ 8. I thought YoonA wasn’t good at acting when she was Saebyuk (in her first lead drama ‘You Are My Destiny’) but these days her acting is really good. Not just as an acting idol, but she's just good at it (acting). ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I thought IU was good since the drama ‘Pretty Man’ that starred Jang Geunsuk, and for Suzy, Anna, is the best... 9. I watched YoonA well in ‘King The Land’ ㅋㅋ She was a perfect fit ㅋㅋ 11. What? These are all the people I like!!!!! Everyone is pretty and their acting is great. By the way, Yoona's recent works are crazy, they're all successful ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 12. YoonA was so cute in ‘King The Land’ and her acting is so good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 13. I watched all three of YoonA's latest projects. They were all good. So good. ㅋㅋㅋㅋShe is soaring especially in ‘King The Land’. 15. YoonA is also good at acting and is building up her filmography well. 16. Wow, just look at YoonA’s recent works ㅋㅋ 17. YoonA is really good at comical acting
19. YoonA, you acted so well, so natural ㅋㅋㅋ I'm looking forward to your next work. 20. I’m convinced (I agree) ㅋㅋㅋㅋEveryone's acting is good, and YoonA's batting score (percentage of her success rate) is especially good lately. 22. Wow, it looks like there aren't any (i)dols to remove (meaning OP agrees with all on the list). But it is surprising that Jung Eunji and Sooyoung aren't here.. I guess it's because there are a lot of female idols who are good at acting. 26. YoonA acted so well in ‘King the Land’ㅋㅋㅋ 27. Wow, 1st place for both men and women are ‘King The Land’ male and female leads ㅋㅋㅋ 28. It's freaking that both YoonA’s dramas and movies did well. The line-up of her recent works is insane ㅋㅋㅋ 30. YoonA’s latest works line-up are insaneㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 31. Yoona’s career is insaneㅋㅋ 32. It’s the same with male idol rankings, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are the ones that always come up when acting idols are mentioned ㅇㅇ 33. YoonA's works line-up is insane 34. I really enjoyed watching Yoong’s ‘King The Land’, it’s my life drama ㅠ 35. Only the people who should have been chosen were chosen. 36. Nodding (in approval) ㅋㅋ 39. Oh, there are all these people who I thought they were good ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 40. They all act well... 41. Agreed 42. They are all good at acting and pretty 44. Her latest work ‘King The Land’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘Confidential Assignment’ shivering (because of the awesome line-up) 45. YoonA's acting was really good in ‘King The Land’. She was just like Cheon Sarang herself👍 47. It feels like the differences in acting skills among the actresses aren't that big. The 5 people seem to be famous enough to be in the top 5 in terms of influence and reputation. 48. Do well, everyone 49. YoonA is really good 50. I acknowledged 51. They are all well-known faces. 52. I saw YoonA for the first time through ‘King The Land’ and she was really good. 57. YoonA was really good in ‘King The Land’. 63. I clicked in the article shouting ‘YoonA’ 65. Lim Yoona's latest work is insane...;; 68. These are all people I like 69. The votes are more evenly distributed here, so the difference in votes is not that big... The male idols were overwhelming. 71. I came in thinking YoonA would be here, but she ended up in first place ㅋㅋㅋ. 72. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 74. YoonA's acting in ‘The K2’, IU’s in ‘My Mister’, and Suzy's in ‘Anna’ were really, really good. I'm curious about the acting of this three people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. 76. But this was released yesterday morning and suddenly both articles (male and female) came out as ‘hot’ topics. 79. To be honest, I was sad because I thought YoonA's (drama) filmography was bad, but these days, everything is really good.. ㅜㅜ And the movie filmography is good too. 80. I acknowledge everyone in this article, but it's a shame that Jung Eunji, Han Sunhwa and Sooyoung weren’t included. I really enjoyed Sooyoung's ‘Not Others’. 85. YoonA seems to choose her works well. 88. (Comment deleted at time of translation)
90. Lim Yoona’s form is crazy!!!!!!! 92. (replied to 69th comment) Oh, it looks like they got votes from all over. Female acting idols are also good at acting. 94. Oh, they are all good actors ㅋㅋㅋI also liked Jung Eunji, Sooyoung and Sojin ㅋㅋ 100. YoonA, IU and Suzy's singing and acting careers are all top notch 101. I acknowledged all of them 105. I thought about Bona, but the acting idols in the article are all very good 106. I also thought about YoonA's ‘EXIT’, but it is not her most recent work. 107. I enjoyed everything YoonA has released recently. 108. I came in the article thinking of YoonA. 109. YoonA❤️ I like her very much 112. King-jeong (t/l note: It is a slang to of 킹 (king)+ 인정 (agreed), to describe being full agreement of something) 113. I approved 115. YoonA’s recent career seems really good 117. Approved approved. 119. YoonA and IU, king-jeong. I want to watch Suzy’s drama, why isn’t it coming out yet? 120. We selected the acting idols who showed the greatest success this year and who we are looking forward to in the future. ----------------------- This is the survey topic. 121. I think YoonA’s career is so good 122. I heard about ‘King The Land’ being a huge hit on Netflix and ‘Big Mouth’ also did well, hence it is a back-to-back hit. 125. I acknowledged it 127. (replied to 120th comment) It is in the text ㅋㅋ 128. As expected, YoonA! 129. Ah, YoonA’s acting is good. 130. I acknowledge all of them 131. Approved 132. Ah, I approved of everyone listed here 133. YoonA is good 134. YoonA seems to be in good form these days. Personally, I think Suzy’s ‘Anna’ was the best ever, so I hope Suzy do another such genreㅠㅠ 135. Good 136. Approved 137. I acknowledged everyone listed here, there are people who I am disappointed that they are not on the list, but there is also no one in the list that I objected too. 138. YoonA’s filmography is good. All her works are very good, and she acts very well too. 140. Everyone's form is good, but the acting skills of the female idols are ambiguous. 141. I like YoonA so much 143. (Replied to 140th comment) What?;; As expected, all the malicious commenters are like sh*t. All the 5 females here have a besting acting of their life for at least once, so what are you talking about? 144. Yes 147. IU and Nana are good. No, all the 5 people listed here are goodㅋㅋㅋ 148. For the female acting idols, the votes are considered more evenly distributed. 149. (Replied to 140th comment) ? 152. I’m looking forward to YoonA’s movies and dramas doing well. I’m also curious about the ‘2 O’clock Date’! 153. I agreed with all listed in the article, Nana’s acting is really good. 156. I like Lim YoonA to the point of dying ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ 157. King-jeong 158. YoonA is good. I thought her acting was good after watching her works recently 160. YoonA is so likeable these days. I've seen all of her recent works. Now, she is a ‘trust and treasure’ actress.
161. Wow, all of them are K-pop talent. 163.The 1st place for both male and female are Junho and YoonA, ‘King The Land’ couple is really good ㅠㅠ I hope they both do better. The chemistry was good, and their acting was good in ‘King The Land’ 167. King-jeong to all on the list
168. Wow, 1st place is YoonA, congrats congrats!! 169. The movies and dramas YoonA starred in, all received great success, so amazing 171. I clicked in the article shouting YoonA ㅋㅋㅋㅋI hope things go smoothly~ 175. YoonA deserves the 1st place. Her drama and movie careers are all good. 176. Regardless of her career, Yoona really showed off her acting chops with her ‘Confidential Assignment’ and ‘EXIT’, and she did well in King the Land as well. Nana and Kim Sejeong are rather unexpected, and I think Han Sunhwa or Jung Eunji are better. 178. All of them have improved a lot in their acting so it’s even better 180. I feel like all the idols mentioned in the original text and Sooyoung and Eunji are good at acting. 185. YoonA 189. YoonA has a good way of choosing projects ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 191. These are the actors who were active 'this year', but it seems like it includes only those who can be included... YoonA did well in ‘King The Land, and IU and Suzy are the queens of immense popularity who respond right away in surveys like this even if they didn't have any hit films or activities this year. (Just like stars who are ranked even if they are inactive that year when Gallup selects the best OO of the year...) Nana becomes popular because of ‘Mask Girl’ recently. 193. YoonA! 194. Even though Nana is really good, I recognize all 5 people there. 196. (Comment deleted at time of translation) 197. YoonA was such a perfect fit for ‘King The Land’ this time, so pretty 198. I'm waiting for YoonA's next work 200. YoonA! 201. Acknowledged acknowledged 204. I agreed with all the line-up here 205. Waiting for YoonA's next work 208. Line-up approved... 209. No, initially I thought how could Sejeong be in 5th place only, but as I scrolled lower (to reveal the top 4), the more I understood. 212. I only saw YoonA's works for a few seconds in passing, so I had the prejudice that I couldn't get into the character because I heard YoonA's voice that I used to hear.. I recently watched Exit belatedly and was so surprised that it turns out okay. I finally understand why her movies are so successful and how she gets casted so consistently. 214. YoonA is good! Han Sunhwa too!! 215. YoonA is really good 216. Even though I’m not a fan of all five of them, I acknowledged. 217. Oh.. everyone who are good are gathered here 218. Soshi is YoonA, but I was also surprised that Sooyoung was better at acting than I thoughtㅋㅋ 219. ‘King The Land’ influence is huge. Both sides (male and female) came in first place 220. YoonA is really good ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I watched ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘King The Land’ recently, and she did well in both dramas. YoonA would be a perfect match for a little bit of ‘Big Mouth’ – ‘King the Land’ – ‘EXIT’, a bright, cheerful, confident and u undaunted not in a villain way character 221. The experts voted but there are people here trying to start a fight so ridiculousㅋ What is it? ㅋㅋㅋ 224. They are all good 225. YoonA’s latest line-up projects are really awesome ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
226, Everyone are gathered here, they are all good 227. Oh, YoonA approved 229. Really, YoonA is really good. I think she has star quality, good screen control, and acting skills. 231. If its YoonA, its king-jeong. 232. YoonA is building up her filmography for movies and dramas well. Her acting in ‘Confidential Assignment’, ‘Big Mouth’, ‘King the Land’ were really good. I admit her acting in ‘Miracle’ was also really good. 233. (Replied to 232nd comment) All same as you and ‘EXIT’ too!! 235. Oh my, YoonA's acting was really good. 236. YoonA, approved 238. Agreed 239. YoonA, approved approved 240. YoonA, approved 241. YoonA, I really enjoyed ‘King The Land’. So lovely ㅠ 243. Hehehe YoonA>< 244. All are good 245. Acknowledged 246. YoonA, approved 248. YoonA, approved 249. Oh, they are all good. And popular too. 258. Even if there are people who should be added in, but there aren’t people that should be removed. I went ‘King-jeong King-jeong’ while scrolling down the list. 259. I watched every project of YoonA that comes out after ‘EXIT’. Really, she is good at acting in both movies and dramas. 260. Agreed 261. It's a shame that YoonA keeps getting underestimated because of the disgusting keyboard warriors. 263. I clicked in thinking of YoonA. 264. Didn’t YoonA filmed a drama in the early days of her debut, she did really well in that too. 265. Agreed, YoonA and Suzy are good at acting 266. YoonA and Suzy are both good at acting 267. Agreed 268. YoonA did really well 269. Agreed for all 270. When will YoonA's next work come out ㅠㅠ I want to see it soon 271. YoonA has become someone that can be trust and treasure (to watch). I am waiting for her next work.

Donald Trump failed to disclose a $19.8m loan from a company with historical ties to North Korea, while he was the US President, according to a new report.
Documents obtained by the New York Attorney General, and reported by Forbes, on Sunday indicate a previously unreported loan owed by Trump to Daewoo, the South Korean conglomerate.
Daewoo was the only South Korean company allowed to operate a business in North Korea during the mid-1990s.
Forbes revealed that Trump’s relationship with Daewoo is at least 25 years old. At one point, Daewoo partnered with Trump on a development project near the United Nations headquarters in New York City, Trump World Tower.
Trump and Daewoo continued to do business together, including using Trump’s name on six South Korea-based properties from 1999 to 2007, according to the magazine.
The outlet reports that the debt in question “stems from an agreement Trump struck to share some of his licensing fees with Daewoo”.
According to documents reviewed by Forbes, the $19.8m balance remained the same from 2011 to 2016. Five months into Trump’s presidency, the balance dropped to $4.3m, according to paperwork that showcased Trump’s finances as of 30 June 2017.
Soon after, “Daewoo was bought out of its position on July 5, 2017,” the documents said, without disclosing who satisfied the debt.
Forbes reports that even though the loan was reported on the Trump Organization’s internal documents, it was not disclosed on the former President’s public financial disclosure reports. Under disclosure laws, Trump was required to submit the documents to federal officials during his presidential campaign and after he became president.
In 2016, Trump’s chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, said that Trump had disclosed all debts related to companies that Trump had a 100% stake in.
Despite the apparent gap in disclosures, Trump may not have violated any laws, though the existence of the debt still could have posed a conflict of interest.
While President, Trump bragged about his relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, saying in 2018: “He likes me, I like him. We get along” and that “we fell in love”.
The two leaders met in person, but the relationship came to nought.
Meanwhile, on Monday, jurors began deliberating in the Trump Organization tax fraud trial in New York, in which the company is accused of operating a criminal scheme that allegedly involved fraud and tax evasion.

A journalist asks the Roy siblings why they want to be CEO:
Kendall: It's just time we bring Waystar into the 22nd Century. Like, kids are fucking moving! Have you seen those uh fucking 12 year olds that know how to code? They should be coding for us. They're the future, Jay-Z is the future, I'm the future.
Shiv: Look, things used to work a certain way. But we know more now. We know women are people, for one, ha. And I'm not afraid to play dirty, but I don't want to keep running this company like I'm a medieval king. That's what my dad did, which is fine, but we're all adults. We don't need to push people off of boats to stay on top, because I know how to play it smart.
Roman: Uh, I mean the big man in charge? Like, I could get pussy and uh, fucking nukes. Not really, that's the president, but we own the news so we own the president so we own the nukes, right? I'm not gonna, fucking nuke anybody, but who doesn't jerk off thinking about being Kim Jong-un?

Daily Dong-A, Wednesday, January 9, 1957
On the Platform, Under the Platform
By Paik Gwang-ha, the Reporter
The third trial of the attempted assassination case on Vice President Chang Myon was held on the 7th. The trial was scheduled to be held in the morning, but it was held at 2:30 p.m. after a temporary recess due to congestion caused by large crowds and lasted until around 4:50 p.m.
To sum up the statements of the two defendants, Choi Hoon and Kim Sang-bung,
Choi Hoon: "The only truth of my statements so far is my name "Choi Hoon," and the rest are all false statements that I have made at the direction of Lee Deok-shin. My conscience pricked me, so I decided to only tell the truth from now on. In August last year, Lieutenant Lee Deok-shin of the Seongdong Police Station knew that I was an official of the Seongdong-gu Branch of Democratic Party. He succeeded in getting me ousted from Democratic Party by spreading the fact that I was an ex-convict. Then, he seduced me that he would help me become the head of the Gyeonggi passenger company. "This mission is the direction from Commissioner General Kim Jong-won of the National Police Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs. If you kill the vice president, you will become the head of a big passenger company and I will become the chief of the Inspection Department of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency." Lee Deok-shin told me this every day. So I shared this offer with Kim Sang-bung, and the man accepted, "All right, let's give it a shot." After that, we met with Chang Young-bok, chief of the Special Intelligence Division of the National Police Agency and Park Sa-il, director of the Anti-communist Investigation Office, several times to discuss the matter. We received a total of 180,000 hwan, including 100,000 hwan from Chief Oh Chung-hwan of the Inspection Department of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, but we found that the amount was not enough expenses for our activities. So we visited Commissioner General Kim Jong-won of the National Police Agency, and complained, "How can such a lack of finances support the important mission?" Then Commissioner General Kim told us, "Meet with Chief Chang of the Special Intelligence Division, and he will help you.""
Kim Sang-bung: "All of Choi Hoon's statements are true. The commissioner general of the National Police Agency is behind this case. He was watching our back. In fact, my ultimate goal was to lay bare the true nature of the police to the world."
Regarding these statements, Commissioner General Kim Jong-won of the National Police Agency said on the 8th, "The statements of the two defendants at the third trial are completely false, and all of them are conspiracies by Democratic Party."

South Korea on Thursday offered to send humanitarian aid to North Korea after the isolated North reported extensive damage from floods in towns along its western border with China.
North Korea did not immediately respond. If the North accepts the offer, it could lead to the first official contact between the two Koreas in several years. After the collapse of direct diplomacy between its leader, Kim Jong-un, and the U.S. president at the time, Donald J. Trump, North Korea in 2020 cut off all official channels of dialogue with the South.
In recent days, North Korea has reported severe floods near the estuary where the Yalu River empties into the Yellow Sea after flowing along the North Korea-China border. State media reported that roads, railways and more than 4,100 homes were submerged, along with large swaths of farmland. Mr. Kim visited the area, ordering his military to use helicopters to evacuate thousands of villagers isolated by the flooding.
“We offer sincere condolences for North Koreans who have suffered severe damage from torrential rains,” the South Korean government said in a statement on Thursday. “We express our willingness to quickly provide urgently needed items for the victims out of humanitarianism and compatriotic love for the North Korean people.”

The statement added that South Korea was ready for dialogue through the two Korean Red Cross societies to determine the size and other details of humanitarian aid. South Korean officials said that they were willing to provide food and medicine.
The offer was an unusual overture of reconciliation on the divided Korean Peninsula. As recently as a week ago, the two countries were accusing each other of “crude and dirty” provocations, as North Korea sent balloons loaded with trash across the inter-Korean border, and the South retaliated by blaring K-pop and anti-Pyongyang propaganda into the North through loudspeakers.

Continuing my synopsis of Project 2025, Chapter 7 deals with the intelligence community.
1) The intelligence community leadership must address the widely promoted “woke” culture that has spread throughout the federal government with identity politics and“social justice”
2) Prioritize security clearance reform. Yet Trump retained classified documents at Mar-A-Lago  and was himself a national security threat—and remains so today with his slavering over Putin and Kim Jong Un.
3) The President-Elect should choose a Deputy Director who, without needing Senate confirmation [emphasis mine], can immediately begin to implement the President’s agenda.
4) Halt all current hiring to prevent
the “burrowing in” of outgoing political personnel
) They are still going on and on about Hunter Biden’s laptop not being “Russian disinformation” despite the findings of the CIA
5) The ODNI and CIA should fire or refer for prosecution any employee who is suspected of leaking information, and penalties should include the removal of pension benefits for those who are found guilty. Does this include Trump and his stash of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago?
6) Corporate America, technology companies, research institutions, and academia must be willing, educated partners in this generational fight to protect our national security interests, economic interests, national sovereignty, and intellectual property as well as the broader rules-based order—all while avoiding the tendency to cave to the left-wing activists

Russia has “right to supply arms in other regions of world”, Putin says
The Russian president bid a warm farewell to his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Un and arrived on a state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, continuing his Asian tour that has seen the signing of significant military agreements that could change the geopolitical situation on the continent.
Vietnam solemnly received Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he wanted to build a “reliable security architecture” in the Asia-Pacific region during a state visit to Vietnam on Thursday, part of a trip to Asia.
President Vladimir Putin arrived on a state visit to Vietnam where he met with the country’s leader Tho Lam in Hanoi. According to the Vietnamese president, Putin has contributed to “peace, stability and development” in the world.
In the morning, the Russian motorcade – the presidential Aurus and escort cars – was solemnly welcomed in the streets of Hanoi, with local residents lined up along the entire route with Russian and Vietnamese flags in their hands. In honour of the Russian president’s state visit, the streets of Hanoi were decorated with his portraits and Russian symbols, similar to the way the streets of Pyongyang looked the day before.
Putin was welcomed at the presidential residence in Hanoi by an honour guard company and a military band, and the Russian anthem was played in honour of the visit.
Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Vietnam shows respect for the Vietnamese people, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said.
Russian-Asian co-operation
As a response to the West’s pumping weapons into the militant Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU), Russia may supply its arms to other countries, Putin told a press conference following his visit to Vietnam.
Putin’s actions are most likely due to the West’s activation to supply Ukraine with arms, and because of the permission to hit Russian territory with these weapons. Russia is therefore moving closer to North Korea, effectively entering into a military alliance with it. The two nations have agreed to provide each other with military assistance and will not enter into agreements with third countries that could pose a threat to sovereignty and security, according to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, the text of which was published by North Korea’s Central Telegraphic Agency.
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty was signed during Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Pyongyang. After the signing, the Russian leader noted that the document provides for mutual assistance in case of aggression against one of the participants. In turn, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, commenting on the signing of the Treaty, assured that it was “peace-loving and defensive in nature.”
The media repeatedly reported earlier that South Korea was the leader in supplying 155 mm shells to the AFU.
With the rising escalation in Asia, as well as the growing tensions between North and South Korea, Putin is lending a shoulder to his counterparts. North Korea will now have tremendous access to the Russian military-industrial complex with advanced technology that has already been tested on the Ukrainian front.
Such non-sovereign actions by South Korea to get involved in the Ukrainian conflict are very fraught. These actions have already led to the fact that Seoul’s virtually main existential enemy has a huge strong ally, which even in the event of a confrontation from North Korea will still no doubt provide it with substantial military assistance.

It’s additionally a private win for the North Korean chief, she mentioned, as “being seen with a world chief like Putin would even be an enormous win” for home propaganda efforts to elevate him to the cult-like status that his father and grandfather loved. “There’s financial good points and reputational good points,” she mentioned. Tensions on the Korean Peninsula are at their highest level in years, as Kim accelerates weapons testing and the U.S., South Korea, and Japan intensify joint navy drills that the North views as a rehearsal for invasion. Final 12 months Kim forged apart the objective of unifying with the South, elevating considerations that he could also be getting ready for an all-out assault on the U.S. ally. The rival neighbors have stepped up psychological warfare, exchanging waste-filled balloons and music on loudspeakers. South Korean troops fired warning pictures Tuesday after North Korean troopers briefly crossed the closely fortified border, apparently in error. The 2 stayed technically in conflict after the Korean Struggle resulted in 1953 with an armistice slightly than a peace treaty. After leaving North Korea on Wednesday, Putin is predicted to go to Vietnam, which upgraded its relationship with the U.S. throughout a go-to by President Joe Biden's final 12 months.
