Chemistry between actors was amazing, but the storyline tho... in KDrama
Kang Sora as Oh Hara and Jung Seungjo as Goo Eun Beom in Strangers Again: the story ruined everything
Tumblr media
Lee Jaewook as Baek Kyung and Kim Hye Yoon as Eun Dan Oh in Extraordinary You:only if Baek Kyung wasn't written as a red flag by the manhwa writer
Tumblr media
Jeon Doyeon as Gil Bok Soon and Koo Kyo hwan as Han Hee Seong in Kill Bok Soon: the storyline was good for a crime thriller but unfortunate for them
Tumblr media
Moon Sangmin as Lee Jihan and Jeon Jong Seo as Na Ah Jung in Wedding Impossible :they get happy ending but the storyline was messy imo
Tumblr media
Lee Jaewook as Han Tae Oh and Choi Hee Jin as Kang Hee Joo in The Impossible Heir : yall know why. Everything in this drama was messed up except the chemistry between these two actors
Tumblr media
Ki Do Hoon as Yangcha and Kim Ji Won as Tanya in Arthdal Chronicles: basically Kim Ji Won has chemistry with everyone she acts alongside
Tumblr media
Lee Jae In as Lee Yoon Seo and Cha Woo Min as Ko Kyung Jun in Night Has Come: honestly I didn't even consider them before I saw all those edits on YT
Tumblr media
Go Youn Jung as Jung Jisoo and Seo In Guk as Kim Seong Hyeop in Death's Game: even the smallest moments between them was enough to establish how beautiful chemistry they had
Tumblr media
Lee Dohyun as Go Chang Myung and IU as Jang Man Wol in Hotel Del Luna: one of the best pairings in a KDrama to exist

Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned.
***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry.

Tumblr media
It's so long ago).
Begini ceritanya :
Tumblr media
To be honest, genre film seperti ini bukanlah cup of my coffee, cuma sebagai SHHD yah kudu wajib support si Bapak seonho__kim, karena selain film debutnya, ini juga moment comeback-nya after the storm dua tahun lalu. Proud of you Pak Kim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maka pengejaran pun dimulai.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
. Aku masih ngah-ngoh ngah-ngoh di 30 menit pertama film diputar, alurnya terasa lambat. Namun selanjutnya kayak gak dikasih jeda, cepet banget euy. Aku masih cerna satu adegan ini maksudnya gimana dah, eh udah disuguhin lagi adegan selanjutnya yang buat gue melongo dan WHAT ?? Ini apaan kenapa jadi gini?? Yep.
Gomawo.

random thoughts about run on, episode fourteen
(please do note that this post contains spoilers so read at your own risk.)
so i was right when i said that mi joo treated su bin the way she wanted to be treated when she was younger.
this quote is heartbreaking “it’d be nice to have that type of friend but that means i’m lacking something. i think i was looking back on my childhood years hoping i also had someone who would stand up for me like i did for su bin” and with that mi joo’s entire upbringing is summarized. on top of being lonely because she didn’t have parents like most of the children around her, she was ostracized by others and nobody else stood up for her when she needed it the most
and being lonely from such a young age does have a lot of impact on someone
which brings us to something i relate to so much “i want to get along with myself” all those years hating yourself, feeling hurt and lonely messes someone up. but now that she somehow has her life together, she wants to heal her heart and focus on herself because she’s the person she’ll have to live with for the longest time
on a more funny note, i like how mi joo basically asked seon gyeom to netflix and chill only for it to be cutely awkward right after lol
the kiss felt so intimate. i felt like i was interrupting something hehe
we’re now at 2/3 people telling ki jeong do that he needs to step back step back silly boy
when yook ji woo told him “my life isn’t yours. i’m the star of my life” i was doing a little victory dance because that feels so nice whenever someone just stops that old man in his tracks
when both dan ah and mi joo came to see yeong hwa, i thought it was funny how both women were dressed as if they were secret agents or something. and then there’s yeong hwa in his beekeeper outfit (idk what it’s called)
talking about dan ah, myeong min came to see his father at the hospital shedding crocodile tears “worrying” about him. but it was such a meaningful moment to see seo tae woong interrupt that moment by showing that he truly cares about his father
dan ah knows she’s being followed and that’s why she asked mi joo to come with her meet yeong hwa. and she was right. myeong min is keeping tracks on her whereabouts. it seems he wants to catch her doing something immoral/scandalous just so he can take her spot, even though he’s an illegitimate child...
right after this touching scene at the hospital, rumors start spreading around that seo tae woong is a b*st*rd and i can’t help but think myeong min is behind that. i’m saying that because he’s the one who told him to think about who his (tae woong) shares belong to. myeong min threatened tae woong to let the cat out of the bag if things didn’t go his (myeong min) way
but the rumors are extending to someone else. maybe myeong min? and, as expected, dan ah will be the one dealing with the scandal and rebuilding the company’s image if the general public knows that her dad had affairs
seo dan ah isn’t paid enough for this sh*t
now going back on dan ah’s little trip to yeong hwa’s town. it was nice to see her be vulnerable and comfortable enough to sleep in yeong hwa’s arms. it’s like the first time she allowed herself to rest and just relax
and finally going to the part that made my blood boil. ki jeong do finally agrees to meet seon gyeom after several attempts from the latter’s part. the first thing the father does is bring kim woo sik’s incident and blaming it all on seon gyeom’s change in behavior... typical ki jeong do behavior. blaming everything on other people instead of taking accountability
however, he offers his son to take both him and woo sik in his track and field team. under the condition of seon gyeom marrying dan ah. once again, saving face and caring about his reputation only
seo dan ah’s father acknowledging his daughter’s hard work as seomyung’s ceo but then wanting seon gyeom to take over once they get married. sigh dan ah has to put up with so much... 💔
seon gyeom is now faced with a harsh decision: will he throw everything away for love? i mean the romantic answer would be yes but he has to take into consideration woo sik’s career. i don’t know how that mess will be resolved but i sure hope it does
when mi joo was on the verge of giving up, seon gyeom’s words motivated her and she kept on seeing images of her life. seeing how much she struggled as a young girl and in need of a friend. that friend ended up being seon gyeom. whereas seon gyeom just wished he was with mi joo from the start. it was such a beautiful moment to see both younger mi joo and seon gyeom meet each other at the end of that scene 💞
seon gyeom being the only one waiting for her at the finish line. so romantic and intimate. i feel like all their moments together in this episode were all so intimate. it felt kind of rude to see them with my eyes. i shouldn’t have been there to witness this kind of vibes
the codename candy scenes were all nice! especially anthony’s outfit

Hello Everyone!
The second show that I'm gonna be talking about is The Penthouse which is quite popular in South Korea. The show has 3 seasons as of now but I have only watched 2 so far. The reason for that is my short attention span, every episode is like 1 hour and 20 minutes long.
A short introduction to the series (from MyDramaList): The residents of Hera Palace, a luxury penthouse apartment with 100 floors, have many secrets and hidden ambitions. Shim Su Ryeon, who was born into wealth, is the queen of the penthouse apartment. Cheon Seo Jin, the prima donna of the residence, does all she can to give everything to her daughter. Oh Yoon Hee comes from a poor family background, but she strives to enter high society by becoming the queen of the penthouse, the pinnacle of success in her eyes. A battle for wealth, power, and prestige at Seoul’s most coveted penthouse begins.
The genres of the series are Suspense, Drama, Crime, Revenge, Thriller and Mystery. It can be also called as a Makjang drama (exaggerated drama) because of the out of control happenings, unrealistic and abnormal situations, that are being portrayed as normal. Some of the most common storylines for this genre include absurd birth secrets, murders and crazy revenge plots. As you may have already thought, all of these are present in The Penthouse. A lot of K-dramas have elements like the theme of rich vs poor, hierarchy, the elites' influence and power, however, this show takes that to the next level. All the secrets and continuous plot twist make sure that the viewer won't get bored.
Tumblr media
The characters in The Penthouse are surely interesting. Everyone does the thing that's the best for them, acting really selfishly, but there's something that always kicks in, in crisis situations. And that is their parental instincts. All families in the series have at least one child. The parents have a lot of work to protect their children and to cover up for their crimes. But don't get me wrong; the kids are not the villains here. It's the people, who taught them to act this way, who showed them the worst possible examples, who were only driven by money and success. The people who have brought them up. The adults are completely rotten characters -apart from rare exceptions-, who try to solve their problems in the worst ways possible. The parents do hate one another (openly or secretly) but different situations make them work together.
Some people in the show are close to psychopaths and sociopaths. It portrays really well how the longing for success can make people go insane. The constant yelling doesn't do this justice either. They are incredibly smart though, always trying to one-up each other.
The person I hate the most in this series is probably Joo Dan-tae. He's truly a mastermind, a very abusive one at that. He's one of the few that doesn't care about his children, only himself. Backstabbing is his speciality if it means that he can safely stay in his penthouse, whether that involves betraying his wife, beating someone up or using people for his benefit.
My favourites are Shim Su-ryeon and her stepson Joo Seok-hoon (who is also Joo Dan-tae's son). Family is the most important for them, Seok-hoon always protects his sister from their abusive father, and Su-ryeon acts as a great mom for both of them. The boy doesn't care about status and falls in love with the main character's daughter, Bae Ro-na, who is bullied by his friends from the penthouse. Su-ryeon also becomes friends with Ro-na's mom, Oh Yoon-hee, and in my opinion, she is undoubtedly the most intelligent character of them all.
What I really like about this series is the use of classical music. The kids are attending Cheong-ah Arts School (Cheon Seo-jin('s father) is the head of it) where they learn classical singing, but this kind of music also plays an important role in making the show more suspenseful.
All in all, I think The Penthouse is great if you love angst but it's not exactly for the faint of heart. It can be a little overwhelming sometimes but it's pretty addictive. Once you start watching, you just want to know what will happen next.

LITTLE WOMEN (K-DRAMA)
They say… Little Women's plot is astounding and very well-written.
I say, partially agreed!
Before watching it, I was skeptical because I had read the original book and watched the movie so I thought "How much better can it get?". In the film, I loved it every time Jo showed up on the screen and bravely spoke her mind. She is the best among the sisters although I did not resonate with her the most since I have never had or have never been an older sister.
Back to the K-drama. I expected the cast to be played well since there is Kim Go Eun - and I'm glad I was not wrong! One of the actresses that also surprised me was Uhm Ji Won who played the villain Won Sang-a. From pretending to be the victim to shedding her skin and revealing her true villainess self, it was all satisfying to watch. Apart from the villainess, I must also compliment the actor behind Won Sang-a's husband who also played the villain Joo Dan Tae in the Kdrama The Penthouse: War in Life.
Not to mention the fact that the ending left so many questions unanswered. The youngest sister did not even apologize for her bad behavior toward her sisters. She thought she could get away with it because she gave her sisters a share of the money? I could not count how many times she made my blood boil in the series. Her performance here in Little Women is as underwhelming as her performance in AOUAD.
Although I enjoyed the aesthetics and the cast of the drama, I could not say that I loved its plot. Yes, I love some thrillers and heavy drama because that's what makes me feel alive but the problem here is the historical revisionism. I am familiar with the Korea-Vietnam War for I have read some articles about it as I was researching the Korean War in which some Filipinos helped. That is why I know for a fact that Koreans are not deemed as heroic as they are in the drama. In fact, hundreds of innocent lives were taken and some women were even raped by Korean soldiers. So it appalls me to see that Koreans see themselves as mighty and brave soldiers during the Korea-Vietnam War.
Tumblr media
I am big on condoning historical revisionism so this issue affected my drama rating. Without it, I could have given 7/10 but considering the distortion they did on historical facts, I say 4/10 (or less if actress Uhm Ji Won had not played the villainess role so amazingly).
How about you? What can you say?

RUN ON // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı : 7,5 Benim puanım: 6
Drama: Run On
Hangul: 런 온
Director: Lee Jae-Hoon, Kim Sang-Ho
Writer: Park Min-Sook
Date: 2021
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Im Si-Wan, Shin Se-Kyung, Sooyoung, Kang Tae-Oh
