Thursday Two or More: Teams
Variant cover for the Defenders Omnibus volume 1 by Jorge Molina
Jorge Molina drew and painted this stunning cover with the second shiniest Namor I've seen, and definitely one of the most striking.
Namor was one of the founding members of the Defenders and next to the Invaders is my favorite team for Namor. All the founding members were outsiders, and since they only met up when a crisis came up for one of them, they were often called the Non-Team.
Here's a few process pictures from Jorge Molina's Instagram.
An original pre-lim that Molina thought was a little too dynamic. Instead he went with the following.

Jorge refers to Dani as Dani to praise him and Pedrosa when he has to said bad things (he only said he didn't do a good job in 1 particular sector)

The mariners won 3-2 over the Braves and won the series. Luis pitched a great game, going 7 innings and only allowed 3 hits. Jorge Polanco hit a 2 run home run and Dylan has a RBI.

Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
I knew it was coming from the second the season ended but that doesn't mean I was ready!
Damn. This may legitimately hit me harder than Arraez, Polanco was a core Twin for so long. Brought us out of the 90-loss bad ol' years, underrated keystone for the Bomba Squad team, lone bright spot of the slog that was '21, the best veteran presence you could ask for on the team that finally broke the streak.
For Mariners fans, he was our version of Mitch Haniger, but more subtly. Solid, not usually an all-star but a hard worker who brought heart and soul to the team. Never the face of the team but always there. Suffered through a lot of bad teams and finally, cathartically, was able to experience playoff success. You'll like him.
With the main trade returns being a mediocre starter and a reliever it's harder to latch onto the positive here than it was for Arraez/Lopez, so this'll sting for a while. Twins are a better team for it, I know; Julien is heir apparent at second base, with Lee on the doorstep, the pitching depth is more than welcome, and I've heard good things about Gonzalez.
But still. Man. This hurts.
Gonna miss you, Polo. Make us proud up in the PNW, we'll set the date for your Twins HOF induction.
