It's shaping up to be a notable year for the iconic 1995 comedy Clueless. The film will celebrate its 30th anniversary later this summer, and as Cher Horowitz would famously say, "AS IF!" Since its release, Clueless has cultivated a dedicated fanbase and continues to find new audiences through home entertainment and streaming. While a Clueless television series did air from 1996 to 1999, it notably did not feature the film's star, Alicia Silverstone, as Cher. However, nearly three decades later, Silverstone is set to return to the role of the beloved Beverly Hills high schooler.

According to a report from Variety, a sequel series is in development for Peacock, brought to you by the creative minds behind hit shows like The OC, Gossip Girl, and Dollface. Silverstone will not only star but also serve as an executive producer on the project.  

Alicia Silverstone's portrayal of Cher was pivotal to the film's success, showcasing her talent for comedic timing, fashion sense, and emotional depth. Prior to Clueless, Silverstone had appeared in television films, Aerosmith music videos, and the thriller The Crush. Clueless marked her first foray into on-screen comedy, a genre she embraced so naturally that it's hard to imagine she hadn't done it before. At the time of the film's release, Silverstone confessed to feeling nervous about taking on the role. However, she also admitted to constantly laughing and quoting lines from Amy Heckerling's script to her friends, marveling at the writer/director's creation.
