Facts are facts (a collection)
The first time I noticed someone saying shì shìshí , it was Jingyan in Nirvana in Fire, episode 37:
Tumblr media
After that, it was Xue Yang in The Untamed, also episode 37:
Tumblr media
Then both Mei Changsu:
Tumblr media
and Xia Jiang in Nirvana in Fire episode 49:
Tumblr media
And here's the one that prompted me to make this post, the late empress in Journey to Love, episode 17:

Do you have any others?

sorry for loving #realconflicts. i love that this a very real and understandable conflict btw them that is actually backed up by the writing. like ruyi said, when she was in the scarlet guards all she lived as was as a tool for others, but now being with him and the rest of their team has made her more human. her entire life she never had a choice in the life she had to lead and now she sees a world of opportunities and paths she could take to make a real difference of her own volition instead of just following orders.
while yuanzhou had a comparatively more stable upbringing than her and is understandably tired of the blood and killing that comes with the job and just wants to live a quiet and peaceful life from now on.
this does not have to be all or nothing tho its not hard to work out at all they can have their kid and he can be a house husband while ruyi works, i just know he'd sooo enjoy that.

I have Mysterious Lotus Casebook brain rot, please help me pick my next show.
If I should watch something not on here, tell me.
Lol ran out of options. Also in consideration though are Under the Queen's Umbrella, KinnPorsche, Ghost Bride, and Ashes of Love. I dropped Ashes bc the FL was driving me up the wall, however Luo Yunxi is there so it's maybe worth sticking out out...

I'm at episode 16 of Journey to Love and...
Well, so far the elite troop of helpers failed every task they were assigned, missed a whole ass person just waltzing up to the princess and then missed her sneaking out and then missed her getting led out...
But it's Ning that I am disappointed in the most. He seemed like a guy that sees women as people, sees Ruyi as an equal and then when he was jealous the true heart came out: it's not you I don't trust it's him" and that's... That not only disrespectful, implying she is so incapable of making decisions that she would accidentally find herself on Jiu's cock.
It's a desire to control, to see her as an object to be possessed wholly that broke Ning for me completely. 16 episodes of character development and all I want for Ruyi is to dump him and look for companionship elsewhere.
Because true worth of a man is shown in the decisions he makes when it's hard on HIM.
Playing a hero when she is in trouble is easy.
So incredibly disappointed.
Jiu may be all sorts of fucked up but at this point I would prefer him as the endgame love interest. I can't even imagine what would have to happen to redeem Ning to me. I have completely lost any trust in him.
I'm sad, I liked them so much even with all the flaws.
Also the fact Ruyi told Ning to a) move her godmother b) control the princess boyfriend and he did none of those things - but I assume that's more of a plot hole than his failure.

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.
you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.
don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.
if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.
you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:
how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!
aren't you happy yet?

Journey to Love Thoughts
Ep 4
1. I can usually absorb information at a fast pace so I normally watch everything on 2x, but I can't even 1.5x this one. There's SO much happening every second! Not a single moment is wasted.
2. The Powerpuff Bois are VERY nice when they aren't doing the BANG entrance thing which just degrades the serious tone.
It always helps when the supporting actors are not complete newbies but have experience leading their own dramas, it really shows. I love the combined main character energy 😍
3. I love it even more when a show has a meimei character whom all the main lead geges want to protect
Like, she's living the dream
Tumblr media
(Xiuxiu from DMBJ disagrees)
4. Our girl Chen Xiaoyun is killing it 😌
Tumblr media
Ep 5
1. I know I'm being redundant but what a powerhouse cast. I love how Liu Shishi precisely controls her commanding presence just so to hold her above and mature above the rest and at the same time to be just another corner of their league. And her character behaves exactly like how you'd want a trained assassin/spy to, thank goodness. I also really really love Yang Ying, she's so REALISTIC for someone in her position but not annoying at all and so wholesomely attracts everyone's empathy. Qian Zhao with his deadpan humor and bombastic side eye, Shisan with his glorious Wen Kexing-ness... etc etc etc... it's not easy for a huge ensemble drama to give all the characters the spotlight they due and not tire out the audience!
2. Speaking of Alen Fang Yilun, I really want to see him as Zhang Qiling in a DMBJ adaptation now. His facial structure reminds me of Xiao Yuliang. He has enough experience playing both main leads and just as charismatic second main leads, he has enough commanding presence. Sharp gaze, fluid moves….
And he's such a funny lil guy lol
Tumblr media
Ep 6
1. Ning ge and Ruyi jie making meimei understand what it means to be a nepo baby and feminism gotta be one of the most wholesome things I've ever seen in a while. That was immaculate.
2. Gaah this show is so good!!! How I wish the color palette, costuming, hair and screen scaling was complimentary to the vibe, it would've looked SO epic!
Ep 7
1. Thanks for that lil treat for gays 😌
2. Thanks for that BIG treat for lesbians too🤭

I'm watching Journey to love and I'm on 28 episode, and at first i was like "Oh, that's good! Then "it is still good enough" now "well... It's still has some merits". But it's so steadily declining in... everything really, visually, quality of plot, acting, so in the end I'm probably will be like "Why have i even watched it?"
And just to vent annoyance. They plan to start to civil war! But they cry over five "innocent" victims. Are Ruyi this stupid and don't know how many lives civil war will cost, or she is just this hypocrite?
In the good note Ning Yuanzhou's team is the best ❤️😂🤗. Story line of the little princess is interesting and (at least for now) well played. Ning Yuanzhou and Ruyi are cute together, but sometimes boring and annoying (which is really disappointment i had hopes for their line i generally like this dynamics). Main plot is not bad it has it's downfalls but for now (yes I'm already very disappointed so i don't believe that they won't fail it) is watchable.
So I'll won't drop it but I'm skipping sometimes
