someone might've said this before but I didn't see it so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it "again". Cassandra Clare is a pussy for refusing to write gay nsfw scenes given that she was perfectly fine writing straight nsfw scenes. Isabelle and Simon make out for pages at a time, Clary and Jace had sex, Julian and Emma had sex like three times, Tess and Will had sex, but she refuses to write Magnus and Alec or Kieran and Mark kissing for longer than .5 seconds. like its so odd to me. the dark artifices in particular had so much nsfw shit its nearly gratuitous, but only with the straight couples? I guess the only argument against this would be that one short story where Malec got pretty close to having sex but Magnus stopped it before they got there (forgive me for not remembering the name of the short story or what book it was from its been a really long time since I last read through all the main series). Am I crazy? I seriously can't be the only one who noticed

I'm almost done reading TSC in chronological order, i just started The Dark Artifices (i'm in chapter 4), and i just wanna say that tda is my favorite

It's summer right now, i'm in a beach city up until september, and the 2012 nostalgia hits just right, but at the same time it makes me so sad to read, mainly because of the plot

it's the saddest one, the deaths and it gets so real so soon and unlike the other series, this one does not have a closed ending for everyone (Kit and Ty, the cohort...etc)

But also it's the last one (until Cassandra makes The Wicked Powers) and it also kinda gives me end of summer vibes, and while Julian and Emma go to live their lives in love i have to start my first year of college, and that is not fair.

thoughts on the dark artifacts trilogy ending

(basically this is my rant on why Julian is the parent of his siblings and always will be)

I don't see it. I just don't see how Julian would leave his siblings, his children behind just so he would live a happily ever after with Emma. They're part of his happy ending. Family is everything to him.

He would never leave them behind. Ty needs his support now more than ever after everything that happened with Livvy and Kit. Dru I understand cause she needs space to figure out who she is but he needs to be there for her those crucial moments. And he could never walk away from Tavvy. Julian is the closest thing that Tavvy have as a parent, he is his child for all senses and purposes.

Nothing against Helen and Mark, but is totally different for them. Helen is just a stranger for them for the most part, and I get her as leader to this institute that makes sense. And as much Mark got know them again, he's not ready to be the person who takes care of his siblings is too much for him after the hunt and everything.

I'm not against Julian having a happy ending with Emma is not that, it's the part that Julian would be happier without his sibilinas there, they are everything they have known for the last five years, and I don't think he's ready to say goodbye to that part of his life and go back to five years ago when he was just their brother.

There are multiple times in the books when they show how Julian is literally their dad but I think we really see it in QOAAD after Livvy death, when first response of Ty, Dru and Tavvy after Livvy died is to such Julian for comfort (I also think this apply for Emma and how she would still worry for the children and she's still a support for them as she has been for the last five years.). We also see how even do Mark has been back for a while he's still not sure how to act around his siblings and he's not sure what they need. We see so much of this in the scene where Mark and Helen have to see Tavvy and tell that Livvy has died, they don't know how to act and Tavvy doesn't completely see them as family, cause he does know them yet.

And I simply don't see Julian giving up control. He needs it too much. it means he has control over his family safety and that's everything to him.

He is the guy that says I would let the world burn if that means many family lives.

Unpopular Opinion (maybe)

I’m trying to reading/finish TDA and it’s hard man, because I’m a character reader especially the main characters and unlike TMI and TID where I loved the main 6 and 3 and the romances I was so hooked on I don’t get that same connection with Julian and Emma. Like individually I enjoy them, but as a couple? I didn’t connect with them. It’s like some people with Clace— but unlike the people I talked to about Clace, they didn’t feel like the need to skip pages or chapters to get to characters they like. But I want to read QoAaD for Kierarktina and where they’re relationship went because I felt like they had actual growth and change.
