they were Smart to have this be jules' big queer moment as opposed to having her make out with someone like ben did. there are scantily clad women right behind her, but instead she pines over romance & rings like the sweet dumb kid that she is, shifting away entirely from predatory lesbian tropes we often see.

Oliver: Today I saw Juliette crying for five or six minutes and then an alarm on her phone went off and she just...stopped crying and went to Cal's house.

Hope
a/n: just felt like writing for Juliette again.
warnings: blood, injuries, cursing, force feeding (technically)?
—————————
It’s been a long night.
Juliette is growing heavy in your arms. Her blood is warm on your skin. She’s not healing as fast as she should be.
You stop in front of the house, Oliver opens the door before you can knock.
“Y/n, it’s past your bedtime,” he jokes, the smile fades quickly when he sees his sister limp in your arms.
“Shit, get in here,” he turns on his heel and you follow without question.
“Carmen!” Oliver calls for his girlfriend while motioning for you to place Juliette on the floor. You run off to grab a pillow for her head. Carmen sweeps into the room and is by Juliette’s side in a blink.
“What happened?”
“Ambush,” you answered, “too many of them for just two of us, she’s healing slowly,” your voice shakes.
Oliver looks over his sister’s form with furrowed brows. The wound in her abdomen is pulsing, cuts and bruises paint the rest of her body. Oliver squints at a puncture wound in her shoulder. He leans down, swiping his finger at it.
“They must have stuck her with something to make her weak, dampen her abilities,” he mutters. Carmen goes to work on dressing the wounds while you just watch. It happened too fast, you were just walking from a party off campus back to your apartment when two SUVs full of hunters swarmed you both. Juliette tried to look for a way out while you stood your ground to fight.
You couldn’t contain the chaos, you couldn’t protect her.
“I have something to help expedite the healing process, but I need your help, y/n,” you nod and Carmen is gone and back within a few seconds, with a beer bong in one hand and a jug full of what looks like sewer water in the other.
“This will help, I just need you to hold her down, it doesn’t go down easy. She’ll probably wake up and try to fight it.”
You swallow down the lump in your throat and try to situate yourself on top of Juliette. You lock your legs around her hips and gently press your hands into her biceps. Carmen waits until your eyes meet hers before opening Juliette’s mouth and shoving the tube down her throat.
“Ready?” She asks and you have to steel yourself before nodding. Oliver watches over Carmen’s shoulder, studying you. Juliette hasn’t brought you around much, but he knows you’re a friend.
Savannah is home to a plethora of monsters. The network of vampires here is the size of a small town. You came around just a few years ago, starting at the University the same time Juliette did. Your parents were well aware of the Fairmont’s reputation and were quick to make introductions. It wasn’t long before you and Juliette became joined at the hip. It made Oliver happy to see his sister grow into herself more.
You make her happy, that much he knows.
Juliette’s eyes shoot open just seconds after Carmen starts pouring the mix down her throat. Juliette starts to thrash around but you’re much stronger than her.
“Jules, Jules!” You desperately call to her until her eyes meet yours, they’re wide with fear, “you’re okay, you’re safe. Just stay still for me, okay?”
She just blinks underneath you for a few beats before slowly nodding. Tears streak down her face, your chest throbs. Oliver watches you tuck a strand of hair behind Juliette’s ear and it all clicks, he doesn’t try to hide the grin on his face.
It only takes a few minutes to empty the jug. You help Juliette up, taking her in your arms again when she almost crumples in a heap under her own weight. Oliver has you set her down on the couch so Carmen can keep an eye on her, but you insist on staying close by too. Oliver taps you on the shoulder and nods towards the back patio, you follow him.
“So, you’re in love with my baby sister, how cute,” Oliver teases and you furiously blush.
“We’re just friends.”
“You’re right, very good friends at that,” he swirls around the drink in his hand, “but the way you look at Jules, that’s something else.”
You don’t respond, drumming your fingers on the patio chair and sinking into it more.
“She feels the same way, you know. It makes a lot of sense now why you two click so much and why I don’t see her so often now, why she hasn’t seen our parents in a while.”
Your jaw clenches, Juliette’s parents are cordial, polite, old school. Juliette was quick to tell you that she’s not like her parents and siblings. She held out as long as she could without feeding on humans. You’ve been understanding and respectful of her path since day one.
Margot always had to bring it up at dinners. Elinor would instigate and they’d both pull you aside and get you to pledge that you would get Juliette to finally accept this part of her. Juliette stopped showing up at her parent’s after the third time this happened.
Oliver was slightly better, but still tried to push Juliette to be just like him, like her family. She doesn’t see him as much as she used to, but you knew he was your best option when everything went to shit tonight.
“I can’t do that to her,” you turn away, “I’ve been her safe place to land and I can’t ruin that with my own feelings and wants.”
“Oh good, you’re both hopeless romantics and idiots,” he sips from his glass.
“I don’t want to hurt her.”
“You think you’re doing a whole lot of good when you look at her with those dumb puppy dog eyes while keeping her at arm’s length?”
Your eyes snap to his, you don’t miss the smug look on his face.
“My sister is smart, really smart--amazing too, the best of us.” you nod, trying to keep the smirk on your face from spreading into a smile.
“She knows what she wants. If she wants you and you want her, don’t fight that.”
“You sound like a hopeless romantic too, you know that right?”
“It runs in the family,” he crosses his arms, “skipped Elinor, though.”
You both laugh. The door opens and Carmen pops her head out to tell you that Juliette is okay, just tired.
“Do you mind taking her to bed? I have to walk my pet turtle,” Oliver is waving you off as he walks into the house with Carmen. They slip up the stairs before you can protest.
Juliette is propped up with a few pillows, she looks beyond exhausted.
“Hey,” you lean down to give her the softest hug, holding back the worry that wracked your body for the past hour.
“Hey,” she gives your shoulder a squeeze, “was Oliver playing nice?”
“He always does.”
That earns you a look, you can’t help but grin at her.
“Had me scared for a minute back there,” you say softly. Juliette doesn’t look away from you when she reaches for your hand to give it a squeeze.
“You never get scared.”
“I know but-” you chew on your tongue for a beat and Juliette just watches you try to gather yourself, “When you weren’t healing, I thought...I just thought you were-”
“Hey, it's okay,” her hand trails up your arm, you let out a shaky breath, “I’m okay, I’m still here.”
“Right,” you fervently nod and look away to wipe at your face, “don’t ever do that again.”
“I’ll try not to,” Juliette playfully rolls her eyes, holding up her hands in surrender.
“Glad we’re on the same page,” you smile, “come on, let’s get you to bed. Can you stand?”
Juliette sits upright, she throws her legs over the couch but stumbles before she’s completely on her feet. You’re quick to catch her, missing the way her cheeks turn a brilliant shade of pink when she realizes how close she is to you.
“Guess I’m still healing,” she mumbles against your shirt.
“I’ve got you, no worries,” you carefully lift her off the ground and carry her up the stairs, ignoring the way her arms around your neck prick at your skin with an intense heat.
You reach the bed and set her down, helping her get under the covers. You lean against the wall and take a full breath for the first time tonight. Juliette’s gaze feels heavy with concern, she’s never seen you like this, ever. She couldn’t help but feel guilty, like she put you through this on purpose.
“Comfy?” you pulled her from her thoughts.
“Very,” a small smile on her lips. You flash your own smile and rub your hands along your legs in silence for a few seconds, “well, goodnight, I’ll be downstairs if you need anything.”
You move to leave when you feel her grip your arm, “stay, please?”
The fluttering in your chest is all too familiar, the lump in your throat feels different though. The way Juliette’s thumb draws circles on your skin tells you there’s something more behind those words.
You don’t push down your hope this time, you let it drown you.
“Are you sure?” You ask quietly.
“Absolutely,” she says with such certainty you don’t waste another second. You climb into the bed and lay on your back with a sigh.
You feel the bed shift and a weight on your chest and suddenly your muscles are more tense now than they were just a few hours ago.
Your arm feels rotten and rusted as it cranes around her shoulders, she scoots in closer, you swallow hard, you need to calm down but your heart is thudding against your ribcage which means she can definitely hear-
“You okay? Your heart is racing,” Juliette cups your face to turn your head towards her.
“Yeah, yeah,” you brush off her concern, “today was just, intense.”
“Really intense,” Juliette agrees. Her fingers reach up and tangle in the hairs on the nape of your neck. You shiver.
“But we’re here, we’re okay,” she whispers.
“We’re okay,” you squeeze her arm and give a small smile before leaning a few inches forward to kiss her forehead.
Her hand tips your head down until your forehead rests on hers. You’re not going to fight hope, not anymore.

It's beautiful irony that calliope is the neck sucker and Juliette is the one with a choking kink. And it's canon. Absolutely amazing.
