I absolutely adore Animal Parade, it's one of my favorite games ever, so I am so glad I was able to participate in this zine! Everyone who participated made something amazing, so I highly encourage you all to check it out!

another thing that might be reassuring (I hope?) is that Associated Press calls states for candidates based on polling, not results... and in the era of every call being Scam Likely and people being sick to death of electoral textspam (and callspam, for the vanishing few who answer calls from numbers they don't recognize), polling has become less and less based on actual respondents and more and more on vibes.

We're barely 3.5 hours past the first polls in EST closing, and in many jurisdictions they can't start counting the early votes until close of polls on Election Day. If you see AP calling entire states already and it's freaking you out, please remember that the actual count has only just started and nothing is really confirmed yet.

it's not talked about enough how horace truly had some connection going with julius before he was quickly killed off

throughout the entirety of the series, we see how all of the characters interact with one another, some being more elaborated on than others. horace is one of the couple (*id say the other two being claire and fiona*) that doesn't get that elaboration, that shown interaction. yes, he wasn't a major character and wasn't in the series as much as most (*💔*), but even when he is with the main cast, we never see a connection. a true one. he doesn't have a person that he naturally goes to, not like a bronwyn and olive or a jacob and emma. there's no one he's describe with having much of a conversation with, let alone singular interaction (*there are some hinted at with characters enoch and millard, but they aren't blatenty shared with us*). horace is just, horace, and he doesn't have that person in the group to bond with.

when julius was introduced, we automatically got that connection. also, no, i do not like the implication of them being together romantically like the book seems to hint towards. horace is in the 12-13, no older than 14 range, and julius is 18 or older. that's weird. no, i see julius just simple as someone horace has that he could bond with. which, is true. they share a similar intrust off the bat. we see an immediate liking from horace off that bat. it's sweet to see, considering his interactions with the people he's known for over 80 years. it did expand and get a little weird later on, as i said with the implications and all. but nevertheless, this is the first interaction with someone we've seen horace TRULY connect with. bond. be the person he drifts towards. and wow, finally! horace hasn't gotten much of anything, at least he gets a frien-

oh wait no he's dead.

why is it that the first companion horace seems to get, dies. just like that. and to make matters worse, quote from the book (*tDoDA*):

"...the severed hand fell from Julius's throat. Julius slumped into Horace's arms..."

and:

"I glanced at Julius, who was leaning on Horace, struggling to breathe."

the 2011 saga, planet of the apes, is inspired heavily by the roman republic/empire. this is made obvious by the fact that caesar, the main ape protagonist, is named after gaius julius caesar, one of the greatest (if not 𝘵𝘩𝘦 greatest) roman generals. like his human counterpart, caesar tends to the disadvantaged apes and advocates for their right to survive in a world that treats them poorly. similarly, julius caesar was a member and the leader of the populares party, which focused mainly on serving the plebeians and the poor.

additionally (and this is my favorite part), roman empires traditionally took julius caesar's name as their own, using the title of 'caesar' as a way to be addressed. for example, octavian (first roman emperor augustus) was usually greeted by the name of caesar. likewise, proximus caesar in kingdom of the planet of the apes takes caesar's name as a way to associate himself with the late great leader of the apes, just like emperor augustus.

Really hilarious that I randomly decided to watch the Planet of the Apes reboot movies two days ago and then I see Caesar trending but in context of the Ides of March. For a moment I was like, Gasp! What Happened! only to be disappointed you’re all talking about Julius Caesar and not Ape King Caesar.
