D.P. (Season 2)
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
D.P. (Season 2, 2023, South Korea)
Director: Han Jun Hee
Writers: Kim Bo Tong & Han Jun Hee
Mini-review:
The moment has finally come: Netflix's best Korean Original has made its return with a second season. And these two years of waiting have been more than worth it. It seemed impossible but, somehow, this new season is even better than the first one. It preserves all of its many strengths, and then it takes them to the next level. Both the directing and the writing are amazingly intense. I spent six whole hours on the edge of my seat, biting my nails to the quick, and the last two episodes left me breathless. I also loved the show's attempts at experimenting, like the musicality in episode 3 or the horror undertones in episode 4. As for the acting, is there anything left to say? This is a cast full of incredible actors, and all of them give career-best performances. This time round, Jung Hae In and Son Suk Ku are probably the MVPs, but everyone does a flawless job. To sum up, this second season blew away my sky-high expectations, and I really hope we get a third one, cause TV shows don't get better than this.
P.S. There's a lot of triggering content here, so please be careful with that. Those of you who watched the first season already know this, but I'm saying it just in case.

it makes me more curious about him. I mean as drama go further his character gets more complicated but at the same time, I can understand him better. I understand that he isn't really the violent and bad person he hides under his mask. he has a kind heart. I wish he'd let Ae-shin see this, but he always hides this side of himself from her. I'm really glad that two women love him. I can clearly see how Yang-hwa really realizes her own love on him and hides it. you can see how she stares Hotaru when she ran and hugged him.
AND I LOVE THE WAY THEY TALK ONLY WITH THEIR EYES.

ART OF NEGOTIATION
GENRES: Drama
SUMMARY: A man rejoins his old company to get back at those who sent his brother down the wrong path.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Luxury Jeju villas, family squabbles, long distance phone calls, novelty socks, racing bicycles, stock manipulation, Subway sandwiches, video game easter eggs, golf, mergers, acquisitions, layoffs, and corruption.
HOT TAKE: Similar to 'Tracer,' 'Numbers,' and 'The Auditors,' this show fits nicely in that category of drama that tried to inject drama into a profession that you knew nothing about (and probably never asked).
This show has a heaping spoonful of corporate buffoonery and a few pinches of personal vendetta (IMHO there should have been more of this plot line) to keep anyone watching remotely interested to the end, but I'll be honest in saying that gazing at Lee Je Hoon's silver wig kept me mesmerized for at least a few eps on its own.
Oh, and I dare you to try and count the number of A-list male kdrama celebrities over the age of 40 in this drama. The gang's all here!

When Life Gives You Tangerines
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2025
When Life Gives You Tangerines (2025, South Korea)
Director: Kim Won Seok
Writer: Lim Sang Choon
Mini-review:
With a dream team like this one, expectations were understandably sky-high. And yet, the show has somehow managed to surpass them. Throughout the past four weeks, it has given us a soaring story about love, loss, growing up and life in general, all of it centered around the incredible women of one specific family. That allows for a deeply insightful exploration of gender roles in South Korea, which writer Lim Sang Choon handles with both sensitivity and bite. The entire cast gives it their all too; I'm not exaggerating when I say this is career-best work from IU, Park Bo Gum, Moon So Ri and Park Hae Joon, and the supporting performers are equally brilliant. Also, kudos must be given to the art teams for the beautiful sets, costumes, make-up, CGI and cinematography. And of course, director Kim Won Seok shepherded the whole project towards brilliancy. All in all, When Life Gives You Tangerines is an unforgettable drama that will stay with you for a long time.

Never Twice. 8.5
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life, (kdrama) ;Homemade Love Story (kdrama)
It’s a family story drama with 72 episodes (32min long). Is it worthwhile watching. Absolutely. It’s hella melodramatic though, so keep that in mind going in. You have a corrupt family, a somewhat vengeful widow, a suicidal couple, a golfer, two adults nearing their 50s who act like they’re in their 20s and a cute older couple. It can get a bit bonkers at times especially towards the later half, the ending had me rolling my eyes on how everyone ended up in one big happy family. And I mean EVERYONE. It’s still a really nice drama even with its ups and downs especially with the main leads who had a beautiful storyline that was written brilliantly for them. I mean the chemistry between the two. *chefs kiss*

Final week of When Life Gives You Tangerines: that was pretty much perfect. The show stayed both life-affirming and heart-wrenching until the very end. I feel like I spent the entirety of these last four hours crying tears of joy, sadness and everything in between. I'd go into more detail, but I think I need some time to take it all in properly. I'll try to post a review tomorrow.
