I read a Hobie analysis which inspired this post even though this post and that analysis have nothing in common. Anyways enjoy my rambles.

We don't talk enough about how most of Hobie's influences are either subtle or behind the scenes. He doesn't force his opinion or his thoughts onto anyone. Like when he's trying to guide Miles away from the Spider Society he doesn't just outrightly tell Miles. He tries to subtly persuade him, (this is broken down into detail in this post that's not mine).

So knowing that I retract my previous statement about Hobie going on a rant towards Gwen's father. He definitely said something though but it was most likely in a more roundabout way so that Gwen's father could come to his own conclusion.

I truly love how the spider-verse series likes to subvert expectations. When I was first introduced to Hobie Brown I originally thought that he was just going to be a static character that we don't learn much about. And yet in those 10 minutes we were introduced to so much about his character. We learn what his ideals are, what his motivations are, and how far he's willing to go to protect those that he cares about.

When I first think of anarchy I assumed that it's something chaotic and uncontrolled. Which isn't true once you look more into anarchism. And it's funny because when we first meet Hobie he seems rowdy and spontaneous. He literally bursts into the scene while shredding on his guitar. Yet when the mask comes off his actions and mannerisms have changed. He still holds the same principles and ideals but he seems more toned down if that makes sense. (Somebody wrote a post about how everyone's alter ego seems like over exaggerated versions of themselves and if I can find it I'll reference it. Edit: FOUND IT. ALSO THIS POST TOO. )

Now I wonder how long has Hobie been plotting to overthrow this organization. I refuse to believe that he could just sit back and let it all be. Especially after learning about canon events. It's true that he has enough going on in his own world. But I'm sure that he was attempting at the very least to recruit people for the destruction of this organization. Was Miles just the last straw?

This is completely unrelated but I think there's something to be said about how the spiders chose to be willfully ignorant in this society while knowing that it was an organization based off of someone else's flawed reasonings. Was it because of the camaraderie and the fellowship that they felt within it that they couldn't bring themselves to see that it was wrong?

These are just some thoughts. But I would love to hear what someone else thought about this.

you all know how much i love annotating and analyzing lyrics and recently i've been getting into bad omens. im a big fan of bring me the horizon so when i saw noah on the bmth ig i was like who is this mysterious man with this nice voice? so of course i went on a deep dive and now im in love. i've listened to their entire discography at least 5 times over by now and i know you think at this point i'm going to choose a song that is not just pretend to talk about how much i love the lyrics but. here i am. talking about how much i love just pretend. it's not even my favorite song by them. it's not even my favorite song on this ALBUM (my fave is somebody else. by the way. yeah. the song they never perform. pray for me.) but like there is a reason why that song is so popular. there's a reason why everyone loves it. i absolutely CANNOT believe noah and jolly wrote this beautiful ass song out OF SPITE. like. he started this song to be ironic. and i literally just can't deal because this song makes me want to lay on the floor face down and stand out in a thunderstorm at the same time. and it's the bridge that gets me the most. that fucking:

"way down, would you say i'm worthy?"

like i think they were trying to kill me when they wrote this. god i just love songs that i can interpret to be about attempting to find salvation and religion in a person. bad omens uses a lot of religious imagery in their music and i absolutely LIVE for it. like yes i am so devoted to our love even if you don't love me anymore. i find salvation and home in you even if feel nothing but apathy for me. am i worthy of your touch? your attention? your love? yes i will wait for you as long as i live because you are my life's purpose and i'll never find anyone like you in this lifetime or the next. UGH. THIS SONG JUST GETS ME SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH LIKE THANK YOU GOD FOR MAKING ME BORN IN THIS LIFETIME SO I CAN LISTEN TO MUSIC! I LOVE MUSIC! YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of Iruma-kun's strongest points is honestly the foreshadowing and how layered it is.

Like even something that can seem pretty obvious on a surface level, or may not even been considered foreshadowing so much as just teasing you on things that are sure to come.

More often then not you can go back and look at it and realize that it was actually hinting at so much more then just the bigger picture of what happened.

But beyond that is its not even always the big stuff even the smallest seeming insignificant detail, like a fun a throw away line that in the moment could sound like nothing more then maybe a bit of world building or a character being silly.

Bam. Can just suddenly come back at any point.

Or aspects you might not even think about asking get explained -sometimes in the main story sometimes in the little Sukima/interlude comics between.

One fun one the demons are always drawn having dark / coloured nails (Manga panels of course it always just gonna look black but any colour images their well clearly coloured) being that is is something seen over most if not all demons it's easy to shrug off as maybe that's just how demons be / fun design choice like their hair colour.

Accept nope, During the music festival arc it's just casually dropped and mentioned that it is in fact all nail polish- and it's also not uncommon for demons to go around recommending their favourites to friends - or even teachers lol.

Random character appearing frequently in background shots, could just be random background but could be so much more and hinting at something to come.

And basically if something feels like its foreshadowing it probably is even if whatever is being foreshadowed won't come into play for a long long time.

just finished reading a graphic novel series called Crowded. it rules. it's set in a five-minutes-into-the-future kind of setting where people can just crowdfund murder through apps. the protagonists are a woman who finds herself to be the target of a such a campain & the butch bodyguard she hires through a different app, and together they try to survive for a month and figure out why there's a campaign for her at all.

the dystopian worldbuilding details are depressingly clever, all the main characters are women who are also gay, and the art is really good. there's a lot of violence but not very graphic. i recommend it if you like messy lesbians, hating corporations, and murder.

I find it interesting how Mama in her boss fight does not state how angry SHE is, and only goes on from the POV of her daughter who she ends up ignoring. EG: “Enough! You are ruining! HER! Performance!” “How could you do this to HER!” She needs therapy

It's her way of showing that she cares about her daughter and that her daughter's happiness is what she thinks about most.

But her anger blinds her to her actions that she does to make sure Yinu is happy, so she doesn't see that her actions are actually doing more harm than good.

She does need a therapist in this aspect so she can figure out ways to help her calm down and remember that even though she has good intentions for an outcome, sometimes her actions are not good.

You know what I love about korean maplestory fan artists? (Specifically the ones that make them get correct height proportions) Not only are they super talented, but I also like the occasional english comments that come along and ask something like “What anime/manhwa/webtoon is this” and then when the OP/another person has to explain that this is maplestory fansrt

For some reason I find great joy in the fact that when the unsuspecting victim does search it up they could find crushing disappointment in that everyone in the game are mostly chibi moeblobs
