Hi, I was wondering if you know of any fics about Spike before he became a vampire? If they happen to focus on his poetry, that would be even better, thank you!

I hesitated with this one because the summary made it seem a little wild, but it paid off. I can’t remember how involved the poetry was, but it’s a sweet story

I’m also going to recommend one that I haven’t actually read yet, but Dusty is phenomenal, so I know it will be good

Do you have anything with Spike getting hurt and Buffy finding and taking care of him? Or with Spike struggling with the chip in his head?

Oh, this is my favorite kind of spuffy fic! Either one of them getting damaged in some way and then the other having to take care of them is definitely my weakness. Hurt/comfort is life.

I’m going to recommend a few and some of these are DARK, so mind the warnings if you have any triggers or squicks.

I’m still traumatized by the hurt portion of this one featuring Season 4 newly chipped Spike. Part one of a series, but iirc it works as a standalone. I don’t think the other parts hit as hard as this one, but mostly just because of less hurt/comfort aspects.

This one is lighter and kinkier than my other recs. It’s a sequel (definitely read the 1st part too!), but here’s where most of the ‘taking care of’ happens. It’s such a sweet little BDSM aftercare fic and I love it so much.

Ummm… this one is not for the faint of heart or Angel fans. Heed the warnings! I couldn’t put this one down and definitely read with wide-eyed trauma, but Buffy really tries her best to take care of a very broken Spike.

I don’t want to give too much away because this one is a mystery. Another one featuring a broken Spike. Buffy’s care is questionable at times, but there’s also some good Dawn moments (I’m a sucker for Spike + Dawn friendship moments).

Ok- last one. I feel like I’m only recommending the ones that have traumatized me because of the horrible things that happened. This one made me feel DESPAIR and definitely had some really graphic depictions. The imagery that this invoked was so vivid, I can still picture it.

Ah yes, the ritual. Post fic at midnight after a writing sprint, edit the punctuation the morning after when you realise you have at least double the amount of commas than necessary
