Mystra has dictated the terms of my potential for long enough. The Crown would grant me control of my own destiny at last.

Thinking about Melting Point
How they met after Ulla was already married and had a kid
How Donella was drawn in by Ulla's power, by her knowledge
How they bonded in a way Ulla and Quirin never could, how they connected through science and magic and intelligence
How Ulla and Quirin never really understood each other-- How they loved each other but Ulla could never know why Quirin was content with staying in place and Quirin could never know why Ulla wasn't
How Donella knew she was falling for Ulla and couldn't do anything to stop it
How she knew she couldn't tell her because "she's straight and married and would never love me back"
How Donella had to put all that aside to trap her in the library, knowing that she would never see her again, knowing that she would go insane
How she had to watch her child (because that's what Hugo is. her child) go through the exact same process with Ulla's son nonetheless
How she had to watch him cast her and everything he used to believe in for this boy. How she told him "don't get attached don't get attached" because the last time she got attached she lost the one person she loved
And then how she watched as he confessed. As he broke the pattern. As Ulla sat and watched as well
And how it broke all barriers when Varian confessed right back. How they saw, in that moment, that this is what could have been

Second part of that request- Hugo and Varian as Harley Quinn and Joker!
(Put the ref under the cut)
I was looking for references and stumbled onto this :
And I LOVE annoyed Varian and Hugo being a bother so this was too perfect.

Me when I have thoughts about Varian and The Seven Kingdoms, but then implement them into the Blind Varian AU. So, uh. Yeah.
-In general, Varian in this AU randomly cracks jokes at his own blindness. Hearing the responses to them makes him laugh. He has not gotten tired of it yet, and is a menace. It's not the first time Hugo has heard him do it, but it's the first time he reacted that strongly.
-Yong has taken it upon himself to describe things to Varian, especially if he finds them cool. That being said, he once described Hugo just to distract Varian from the fact one of his fireworks went very, very wrong. It worked. Called Hugo's nose big, though.
-Varian will now also put his goggles on in certain situations beyond anything to do with science and alchemy and other things. Just to make sure nothing randomly gets in his eyes or somehow stabs into them (he'd like to keep them, very much).
-Varian usually turns in the direction of people he likes/cares about when they're talking, just to be polite. I imagine Hugo might be annoyed by that, considering that it would it take a bit before Varian starts doing that with him.
-Hugo has been smacked over the head with Varian's staff before. And was subjected to a prank where Varian claimed that he wanted to feel his face, only for him to slap both of Hugo's cheeks as hard as he could. See? Menace.

If I had a nickel for every time Jeremy Jordan played a tragic character that started wanting to change society for the better and tried to be revolutionist, but fell too far,
Had a villain arc derived from their oppression, ended up making deals with bad people to solve their problems creating more damage they were against in the past, lost their mental health in the process,
And it was a musical-
I would have 3 nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened 3 times.

We talk a lot about Thomas not being able to take his eyes off Varian, but can we all just take a moment to appreciate the way Varian's eyes light up when he sees Thomas approaching him at the fire?
And let's not forget that Varian Fry, mister propriety, walks away from Hannah Arendt at the Christmas party without a word when he sees Thomas. Glass of wine for Thomas already in hand, the man just wanders off. Thank heavens he remembers that Hannah exists after he's started walking away and makes some vague attempt to excuse himself. Varian, you are not fooling Hannah or anyone else.

Yong said the fuck word once around team Radical (one time, that’s right, one singular time), and was immediately grounded by Varian, Nuru, and Hugo.
He’s a baby, he’s not allowed to swear till he’s committed his first crime. That’s the rule.

“Cannibalism as a metaphor for obsession” “cannibalism as a means to convey all consuming love and obsession”
Yeah well what if cannibalism was a metaphor for Eating People? What if it was a means to covey Consuming All Of A Person. For Dinner. Literally.
What then hm?

I like to think that while the vat7k gang communicates in Coronan, it's not Yong's first language, and he's still learning the works a bit
And you get into some situations where he accidentally says a completely different word than he meant to. And the others have to clear it up for him
Or Varian will be ranting about something and Yong can't follow
Or he doesn't understand what someone's saying because of their accent and has to ask Hugo to translate it into the Bayangoran language for him
Like, I dunno, I just think it would be really cool
