sitting here overheating because my room really does get super fucking hot in the late afternoon and takes fucking forever to cool down. but it got me thinking about how damn I used to never get dressed during the day during the summer even though I really wanted to. and it was because my m*ther never bought me clothes that were wearable when it's twenty degrees plus, sunny, and as humid as it gets here. and if she did it wasn't for wearing everyday. like poverty is one factor in that but seriously I straight up didn't have enough regular clothing to last a week, especially since I wasn't allowed to wear a shirt more than once and trousers/skirts thrice without washing. that and I was rarely able to choose outfits out for myself either.

#I have a distinct memory of being nine and still in my pyjamas which btw I fucking hated that particular set #because the shorts were too short. just plain old uncomfortable #anyway I remember going 'I'm getting dressed tomorrow because I hate being so hot and I know wearing the same things for so long #is not allowing me to cool down'#never happened.#and anyway I started thinking about the stuff I could wear when I was between the ages of eleven and fifteen and yeah!#there wasn't fucking much! and most of it was winter/not summer clothing #combine this with my absolutely appalling hygiene issues caused by a multitude of reasons none of which were my fault #I know I didn't have much. not until I was about fifteen and started being allowed to choose more stuff #which again most of which was never summer appropriate because within the stuff I chose there were strict rules #and also the fact my m*ther would choose stuff for me and said 'if you don't want this you're not getting anything else'#which can I just say when my most vivid memory of that was in a skirt she was saying made my arse look good when I was fifteen!#just. augh.

#fascinating stuff. let’s see if i (person with the worst executive dysfunction when it comes to doing laundry) remember it #i literally have this issue where i’ll let dirty clothes pile up in the laundry basket for an entire month #like it takes me that long to get around to it #and then- who would’ve thought- i find that i don’t have anything good to wear. strange!#finally did it last night and i’m like ohhh that was so difficult but the payoff finally #augh #peach rambles #hall of fame i guess #shut up about socks. idc.#this was a fun positivity post of sorts it’s about overcoming executive dysfunction #derailing into jokes about losing socks is. it’s not horrible but just boring and annoying #it was supposed to be celebration!! and encouragement!!!
