Can you do Alfred and Kagetsu’s reactions to finding out s/o is pregnant?

(I've been sitting on this one a little while-- the two puppy dog husbands!!!!!)

Alfred: The golden retriever prince is naturally completely on board with the idea of starting a family with you.

It’s an intimidating idea, at first, until he remembers that you’re just another person, like he is at the end of the day.

Titles aside, you were two people who loved each other more than anything. And if you wanted a child with him, then he was going to do everything he could to provide that for you.

So when you finally break the news to him that your months of trying were successful, Alfred could hardly contain a sliver of emotion.

“Alear!! Oh, Alear!!” He wrapped you up in a massive bear hug, nearly knocking you over as he shifted between tears of joy and laughter. “We did it!!!”

“We did!” You giggled, enjoying the sunny glow of your husband’s happiness. “We’re officially going to be parents. In…I think they said I was two months along.” 

“Two months? Already?!” He gasped, “That means we only have to wait seven more instead of nine!! This is such great news, darling! Oh, my gods, we’re…w-we're going to be parents!!”

He then proceeds to pepper you in kisses from head to toe, revelling the bounty of good fortune that befell you both.

Alfred wants to tell everyone right away, but somehow you convince him to take a step back and just take in the moment…privately, between the two of you.

“I’m not ready for everyone to know jsut yet.”

“What ? You don’t want to say anything?? But Alear, you’re the Divine Dragon!! You’re my wife!!!! Everyone will want to know right away! Oh, and then we can have a wonderful celebration, a-and we can gather up the royal families and have everyone attend!”

“That’s what I want to avoid.” You replied, much quieter than your husband who was practically bouncing around with great excitement.

You took his hands, a shy flush creeping onto your cheeks.

“I just…want this to be just for us. At least for a little while longer.”

“Really?” He looked confused, as though the request you made wasn’t something he could comprehend. 

You squeezed his hand, smiling nervously.

“I’m very excited to have a baby with you, Alfred, and I know we’ll tell everyone and they’ll all be happy for us! But…right now, I just want it to be, you know…our thing.”

“Ohh…I see.” Alfred nodded, and beamed at his wife. “You want it to be our little family?”

“It just takes a lot of pressure off. Not the king’s heir, not the Divine Dragon’s child…just Alfred and Alear’s baby.”

“Just a normal papa, and a normal mama, who will soon be blessed with a beautiful baby.” He chimed in, drawing you into his chest and peppering your face with dozens of kisses.

You broke into a laugh, trying and failing to resist his sweet affection.

Alfred would indeed hold to his promise and would not let the announcement slip until you were ready. Whi ch was torture for him, because he wanted everyone to know how ecstatic he was! Thankfully you only made him wait a week or two…though he would claim it was a difficult week.

Mainly because his sister and friends were teasing him for acting so “creepy” when he was even more happy and excited than usual.

The surprise was worth it, though.

Kagetsu: He had already expressed to you how wildly in love with you he was. He thought it was impossible for him to love you more than he did already. 

There could not possibly be more room in his already full heart!

That’s what he thought; then you told him the news.

“Kagetsu…I’m with child.”

The impossible was achieved with those three small words.

“Y-you…you what?”

Kagetsu’s voice was barely more than a squeak. He was choked up with emotion, trying to process the news you just gave him.

You nodded your head, tears starting to build in your eyes as you repeated the news.

“I’m with child, Kage. I’m…I’m three months along, already.”

“You’re-?!” He gasped, his hands quick to grasp your shoulders. His eyes were blown wide, floored with the information you were giving him.

First you were pregnant, but now you were already three months along?!

“I-it explains all the weird behavior, doesn’t it? The sickness I was feeling, the headaches and the tiredness…Framme’s the one who confirmed it, and then we double and triple checked with Pandreo just to be sure.”

“Oh, Alear…oh, my Alear…!!” He could barely piece together a sentence, let alone a thought. 

Kagetsu, who was always so chatty and happy to tell you exactly how he’s feeling was speechless. It was shocking to witness.

It was all the swordsman could do to gather you up in his arms, and hug you to his chest as tight as he possibly could.

You were somehow able to wiggle your arms free, if only to loop them around his neck as he buried his face in your hair.

“Ah…I take it you’re happy about the news, then?” You asked with tentative optimism. Kagetsu gasped softly, and pulled back to look right at you.

The tears that had gathered in your eyes had already overflowed from his. But beyond the tearstained cheeks was a smile so full it made your own heart sing.

“I c-cannot be any happier than I am, right now, in this moment.” He replied with a deep sincerity,filling you with warmth.

That man truly loved you with every facet of his being.

You cupped his cheeks, wiping away the tears that just couldn’t be stopped. He kissed your palms, trailing kisses down your wrist before he found your forehead, your nose and at last, your lips.

“Oh, my wife.” He shuddered, stroking your hair, his heartbeat loud and thundering with joy against your hands. “Alear…Alear, we’re going to be parents!”

“We are. Before we know it, we’ll have a little one to show around the Somniel.”

“I can hardly wait!!” He grinned, “Alear, I didn’t think it possible but…I truly love you more than anything in the world.”

“I love you, too.” You kissed him, tenderly, earning yourself one last beautiful moment of peace and happiness before Kagetsu could contain himself no longer.

He made sure to announce to the whole world that he was, indeed, an expecting father. 

And that his brillaint, flawless, perfect, goddess-like wife who could do no wrong ever and he loved more than any living creature has ever loved something…was pregnant.

It took a while to live down that embarrassment (but he was so cute when he did).

I still haven’t finished Fire Emblem Engage or decided who to S support yet.

But Kagetsu is hot and weird so he’s kind of winning me over.

People on Twitter denying that Engage’s cast is very queer coded is really funny to me lmao

Like, to an extent, I can understand it seems cheap and inoffensive just to make Alear’s romances gender neutral and them being the only ones to have paired endings is sad. Fair.

But deliberately ignoring how fruity the Engage cast is? What? Supports between Fogado/Alcryst, Fogado/Pandreo, Diamant/Amber, Etie/Goldmary, Celine/Hortensia are very gay! Anything that comes out of Alfred’s mouth is gay! Merrin is very les to the point her personal skill is her escorting women like the handsome gal she is!  Kagetsu and Chloe are very open and brazen with their gay words (okay maybe the former is explained by language barriers but honestly he’s probably queer, too)! Rosado personally executed the gender police himself!

Part of the criticism of Engage’s queerness is that no character “uses it in a meaningful way” i.e. explain deeper parts of their characters, and Twitter people compared it to X, Y, and Z characters from the game that shall not be named, and idk, personally in a game with a tone like Engage, it matters less to be specifically descriptive and matters more to be more playful and fun with it. It’s not like Fates where there were only two same sex S support characters and so they had to be written with that directly in mind for their characters (which Treehouse then removed, damn thee), but Engage from the jump tries to be more feel good and hopeful, so not only does there not really need to be character arcs intertwined with implied differing sexualities, that opens the avenue for more of the cast to be read as queer/queer coded by fans.

Kagetsu x Alear commission (Alear has some worries about visiting Kagetsu’s home country...and his parents!)

It would be a long while before things settled down enough for you and Kagetsu to travel outside the kingdom.  The peacetimes couldn’t come soon enough, and there was so much reconstruction to be done before anyone could even fathom something as involved as a wedding.

But eventually, at last, you were able to marry your dearest love. Your Kagetsu was now, officially, your husband.

He had already met your family; rather, he had become your family once your sorry excuse for a father was dealt with, and your mother put to rest properly.

So you weren’t sure exactly how to handle the impending doom that was meeting Kagetsu’s family. They were reclusive, in a homeland you had only ever heard about in bits and pieces; a place that wasn’t on the radar of most kingdoms surrounding your stronghold.

It was finally time to go, and meet these mysterious new people that would expand your family by leaps and bounds.

Although, you did have a few reservations.

“Kagetsu?”

“Yes, my dearest love?”

“Is this…really necessary?” You were holding the edges of your sleeves, inspecting the silken fabric that fell to your ankles with an unsure expression. “Won’t I look out of place?”

“Oh, not at all! It suits you perfectly, Alear. It is a beautiful piece, which I chose specifically for you! I think it’s quite flattering.” Kagetsu remarked, looking you up and down with great pride in his smile. “It will make you even more alluring to my family when you meet them!”

“But I’m not…I’m not from your land. Don’t you think it might be rude to go in dressed like this?”

“On the contrary! I’ve chosen it for you specifically, as my bride. It would be more outlandish if you weren’t wearing it.” He explained, taking your hand in his, “But you needn’t worry. You look beautiful in your yukata, and you’ll thank me for it. It’s quite breathable in the heat, and you’ll be much more comfortable in it than your armor.”

“Well, it certainly does feel much more comfortable than armor.” You smiled softly, “And the Divine Dragon costume…”

“I would not call your regal garb a costume,” He laughed in reply, gently swinging your hands back and forth as you continued your journey towards his home.

“I just feel a little out of place, like I’m playing dress-up. I think Mother wore it much better than I.”

“Well, I’m in no position to speak ill of your late mother, but…I think you look ravishing in such dress.”

You squeezed Kagetsu’s hand, returning to your journey and enjoying the sights and sounds. There were long, thin stalks of bamboo that started to fill the forest around you, growing thicker in number as you closed in. 

A large gate appeared before you, attached to a rather intimidating wall that stood high above you.

Guards stationed outside were quick to stop you, requesting your name and your business. It was a rather closed off community, Kagetsu explained, figuratively and literally. 

But once he presented his credentials and told them who he was, as well as the reason for his visit, those gates couldn’t have opened fast enough.

Kagetsu was quick to introduce you to all the people he knew and who were thrilled to see him again. Considering he was, after all, a member of the royal family. 

Finding that out had thrown you for quite a loop. But them discovering your identity as the one and only Divine Dragon…and that you were his wife…well, that would top his big secret by a mile.

Especially when you reached the palace steps, standing before an even more magnificent gate than those that protected the kingdom.

You squeezed his hand tightly, feeling that you were about to face quite a formidable foe. The in-laws.

“It will go very well, my love.” He assured you, “They may be quite stunned at first, but they will surely be pleased to learn that you are my wife.”

“I admire your confidence.” You swallowed thickly, “Well…they’re expecting us, aren’t they? We should probably-”

“Lord Kagetsu!!” The two of you looked up, finding a number of attendants suddenly rushing through the gates. “Our lord has returned!! The royal family will be so pleased to see him!”

“And this woman…who is she?”

“Could she be-?!”

“My gods! Have you found a wife, Lord Kagetsu?!”

“Indeed I have! It’s been a long time, hasn’t it, everyone?” Kagetsu grinned, his arm around your shoulders and pulling you close. “I’d like to introduce you and my family to my bride, the Divine Dragon Alear!”

The gasps were drowned out only by the wild cheering and exclamations in response to his grand announcement.

It would only be quieted when the royal family themselves stood at the top of the steps, with Kagetsu’s supposed mother and father standing before you both and regarding the crowd with silence.

He slipped his arm from your shoulders and walked forward, nodding for you to stay put just a moment.

You watched silently, fiddling with your sleeves as the crowd parted so he might speak with his parents. It was so quiet one could hear a pin drop, as the young prince came to stand before them. 

Everybody waited with baited breath. 

Then his father laughed, and his mother embraced him. The three of them were filled with joy, to be with one another once again.

You smiled softly, relieved that everything was all right. The staff laughed along with them, everyone jubilant at the young lord’s return.

“Alear!!” He called to you, beckoning for you to join them. He met you halfway, taking your hand and helping you up the steps with attention to your yukata. His smile was blinding. “They’re so excited to meet you. Come! Come, they will love you!”

“All right,” You giggled nervously, but trusted his joy. He held your hand tightly, fingers threaded together, until you reached his parents. To your great relief, they regarded you with warm smiles and profound respect for your position. 

The seriousness of their greetings were quickly alleviated when Kagetsu’s father asked why on earth the Divine Dragon would settle for a foolish boy like his son.

Needless to say, your worries were quickly put to rest. The family you were frightened would push you away would take you in with open arms, glad to teach you about Kagetsu’s home and his life before his travels. At least, for that sweet moment, holding his hand beneath the dining table, it was a peaceful, happy union.

My Team In Fire Emblem Engage

Alear, Diamant, Alcryst, Fogado, Alfred, Boucheron, Kagetsu, Zelkov, Bunet, Pandreo, Amber, Seadall and Rosado.

Why These Characters? Well, I'll tell you:

Alear - Well, you got no choice but to use Alear half the time. But even if I could not use him, I'll still use him because he's a great sword unit and he dodges constantly when you level him up enough.

Diamant - A heavy hitter sword unit that if you level him up a bit, his strength is amazing and he barely takes any damage to anything.

Alcryst - The best bow unit in the game? Sign me up! Also, isn't he just adorable?

Fogado - A very good bow unit via long bow and radiant bow but also is amazing at large swords like the Armorslayer and Wyrmslayer.

Alfred - Honestly in my opinion, the best lancer in the entire game, especially if you give him Emblem Sigurd.

Boucheron - Also in my opinion, Boucheron is the best axe unit after leveling him up enough, he's almost got 90 health.

Kagetsu - Amazing sword unit, fast and constant critical on almost each enemy he's up against.

Zelkov - Amazing Thief unit, fast and strong, dodges almost each hit and he often criticals on enemies too.

Bunet - Amazing axe unit, level him up enough and he hits enemies hard, it may take two turns but he also takes barely any damage.

Pandreo - Amazing healer and magic unit, criticals often, hits twice and the enemy is dead.

Amber - Amazing lance unit with heavy lances, sadly takes damage often but you gotta depend on his dodging and strength when he hits.

Seadall - Usually just used to make people move a second time, dies constantly after one-two hits but that is if you don't have people around him.

Rosado - Never really used him often but he was always my option if I could use 13 characters in a battle. Dies often, but he's cute and I love him.
