Kaijune 2025 - Day 8: Obelisk Alongside day 1's kaiju, this one took the most amount of time for me to think of a final concept for.

Spotted by an unknown camera person, said anonymous person posted this picture all over social media, and sent it to multiple online publications. It's not sure how real this picture is, though multiple trusted experts have said the image shows no artifacts that would suggest digital manipulation.

The image, obviously, caused much uproar, as it has the clear hallmarks of being some sort of Ascent machine, and having been notably absent since the titans' battle against the Cursed King, speculation has run amok online. Nobody quite knows the use of such a machine, as it's tall, and frail, yet has a ginormous spire coming out of its back. Hypotheses have ranged from some sort of scanning or monitoring device to a giant death laser that would fire up into the sky and cause a catastrophe... somehow. As of yet, nobody close to the Ascent, nor anyone within the organization have spoken about it, meaning no answers have been given.

Absent of any names, people have given it the monicre of the "Unknown Ascent Machine", often shortened to just UMA.

Kaijune day one: serrated

this is the process for my first day of the Kaijune challenge!

i didn't have time to finish the drawing, maybe I will do it during the month and show it to you when the challenge is finished

or idk honestly i'll figure something out Imao

ANYWAY the first one is the final sketch and the other two are the thinking process behind it. This is a very big lizard with very sharp edges. This lizars mainly lives on the top of the highest trees of the forest and its agility allows it to stay in balance even on the tiniest of branches. It's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it has a very calm and peaceful behavior, which allows it to be friends with a lot of the other smaller creatures that live in the forest with it.

It mainly eats tree sap and things it finds when it goes on the ground.

Kaijune, 2025.06.01

I've never done a challenge like this before. Found it too intimidating to even try. Will I be able to keep up?

The prompt today was "lava", which made me think of the porous rocks left behind after lava happens. Looking up "hraun" online wasn't helpful. Only made me want chocolate.

I have a few reddish-brown lava rocks in the flowerbed outside though, but it's raining, so I didn't wanna go get them. Instead I used the grayish one on my bookshelf as inspiration. Or I was going to, but ended up not really looking at it. Background (or foreground, I guess) is based on an old photo I found in my files. It's somewhere in Iceland, I don't remember where, but it was probably somewhere in the capital region.

I did the drawing during today's d&d session, so it took somewhere around 3 hours. Didn't really turn out how I wanted to (as mentioned before, it looks nothing like the referenced rock), but if I'm gonna be able to keep up with the Kaijune challenge, I don't think I should worry too much about it.

For days now I thought I was gonna do "junicorn", but I thought the prompts were a little boring. Also just drawing variations of horses for a month doesn't sound all that interesting to me either. Maybe I'll sneak in a unicorn-kaiju somewhere.

That face looks like the cat from Courage the cowardly dog. I had a vision for this I wanted city ruins as an excuse to try and draw cities (as preparation for Kaijune). I like the fiery tail and the vivid background .

KaiJune2025 - Day19: Axodibrata

KaiJune 2025 - Day 19: Autotomy Genuinely might be my favourite design I've done this challenge so far.

[This is the prompt list I'm following] ===== BIO:

A kaiju that's appeared a few times in passing, but finally spotted in full on a sand, rocky beach off the shores of Scotland, Axodibrata is a scavenger, fleeting glances having been seen around dead kaiju, leaving distinctive Y-shaped bites on the carcasses. Their tails, which at first were assumed to be a juvenile form or an entirely different kaiju altogether, can move autonomously, not only this, but have eyes of their own, as well a pseudo-mouths which bite at and clamp onto enemies.

Being a small kaiju, it rarely fights, usually dropping one or two of its tails before scampering off, but can actually drop every single on of their tails if needed, though this forces them into a quadrupedal stance. The still do us these tails whilst fighting, using them like little helpers to restrain or distract as they go in for a kill show with their large toe claws or single-fingered arms.

Since it's been found worldwide, it's assumed the kaiju can swim, despite not looking like it can, but the presence of external gills on its head implies it may be able to.

I found out about the existence of this challenge: #Kaijūne when June was already ending, and I read an article that said that this challenge is done in June (Kaijūne) and July (Kaijūle), but I searched and searched and no one does it in July...

Anyway, the thing is that I’m doing “Kaijūne in Jule” on my own, although a little late... but well, these drawings that I uploaded had been made since day 1, but I hadn’t been able to upload them.

Well, and along with this, I upload some drawings from different days that I discard because I just didn’t like them, but there they are like sketches 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, I want to start getting into drawing, even though I have certain issues that mean my hand coordination isn't as great as most people. Would participating in a month-long art challenge, like Kaijune, for instance, be a wise way to try my hand at getting confident in my drawings? I already have a list of prompts for myself, but I guess I'm just wondering if this is a good place to "start" (in quotes because I technically have drawn before, but that was a while ago).
