You've mentioned before that you prefer Karbu to Laios, is l/bru the your favorite ship of his? And if so what do you like about it more than the other ships?

i've reblogged and posted a lot of stuff i like about it but to give the simplest explanation; they complete each other in a narrative sense; kabru survived being stranded in the dungeon by following laios's way of thinking, and laios will forever keep taking kabru's advice until they die LOL. laios learns to embrace his humanity from kabru, and kabru learns about being authentic and vulnerable from laios.

everything about them is the opposite down to their eye shapes, the tips of their noses, their star signs(gemini and sagittarius are opposite signs) their stats are almost identical except for the top stat) etc. they are constantly shown learning things from each other, they have a lot of things they don't agree on but they like and respect each other still, so that's why they bounce off each other very easily. even if you don't ship them you'd have to be ignorant to not acknowledge they are very good friends by the end of the story.

kabru helped the touden party achieve their goals by actively became an obstacle for the elves (they would all die if not for his laios nightmare!!!), laios ultimately subdued the demon and kabru will forever be safe around him because of his monster repellent curse. they are objectively important to each other's story.

you could pull the "why can't people let two characters just be friends!" or the "they work better as just friends" card but then again you can say that for literally any friends to lovers ship.

i guess this is also why i greatly prefer their post-canon dynamic as a ship over their dynamic in the story. i don't really care that much about armored labru, i like it more when they're wearing tunics or modern clothes. i really do prefer it as something happening ~2 years post-story, and not right away. same goes for f/rcile, i want the feelings to marinate.

which is ironic because, as much as i love pre-relationship stuff, i havent made content of it yet. i shall rectify...

also they. just look aesthetically nice together. that's a nice bonus.

Thinking about a beast Laios AU, full ramblings under the cut.

I just love Laios's beast design and couldn't stop thinking about it which lead to this.

In this AU after Falin is eaten no one follows Laios back down into the dungeon so he goes alone. Not meeting Senshi or having the support of the party he barely makes it through, eating monsters just to get calories without Senshi there to show him the joys of cooking/eating.

In the end he defeats the red dragon but without Marcille there he's left bleeding out alone. And even if he wasn't injured, without Senshi's knife he wouldn't be able to cut out Falin or bring her back.

Now when Thistle arrives and re-makes the dragon Laios isn't enough dragon to become a chimera like Falin did, but with his blood mixing with the beast and the amount of raw dungeon he's eaten he ends up as a half monster.

Soon reports of this new creature on the lower levels make it back up to the surface and to Karbu. Who is surprised to hear what's come of the Touden siblings, nervous about what this means for the dungeon he goes to investigate. Karbu seeks out the old party members to get intel and when Chilchuck and Marcille hear what's happen they join too.

Along the way they meet Senshi, and the gang finds Laios in the deep levels still looking for his sister.

(I know for this to work it means a) Laios ends up being a little OP to make it that far without the party and b) characters are a little OOC like Marcille not going in with him after Falin.

In the end this is just a reason for me to draw beast Laios and have fun so don't take it to seriously. )

You know what? The Karbu kissing Rin makes more sense when I realize Kabru was on a path of self-sabotaging every relationship in the party he has.

Teasing Rin (who he knows has a crush on him) despite seeing her like a sister, suspiciously close relationship with Holm's sister (to Holm's anger), and trying to get Kuro the Kobold to leave his current contract with Mickbell and work for him directly (probably to try and fix their relationship and force them to be equals)

Part of it is his desire to be liked by everyone, and his urge to meddle.

Rin wants a romantic relationship , he doesn’t, so he tries to meet her partially (very very dumb)

Something I notice in this manga it seems very Marcille focused, with her past at magic school and how she cares for Falin.

We also have a new team that is being introduced, with a ex-member of Laios’s team. Karbu’s team also appears in this volume as well. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have the best luck when it comes to adventuring because they do get their butts kicked by the fish people.

Laios is also showing some amazing monster hunting (I ‘m not sure what you would call it) skills, he handles the mermaids and also shows that Senshi is not the only one who knows how to cook.

Marcille is the real MVP in this volume, with how she helps the group with the kraken with her spell slinging. However, when we got to her fight with the Undine, I did question her with her magical knowledge that she has and understanding that she is in a magic dungeon that she should have been more careful when dumping boiling hot water in a body of water.

Now I wanted to rant a bit about the ex-member, Namari’s, new group find them, granted I’m not too upset with Namari leaving the group, I understand that people need to make money and going on a quest to slay a dragon to rescue doesn’t seem profitable and I do wish Marcille understood that and not try to guilt trip Namari back to the group. However, I think that Namari needed to use some tact when talking about the dragon and Falin. (I mean Falin’s brother is right there.)

My issue is with Namari new group: Mr. Tansu. I want to know how freaking much gold he is paying Namari in order to use her as a dwarven meat shield. Granted Mrs. Tansu and their kids Kaka & Kiki seem like great party members. I did like when Kiki did get taken by the vines Mr. Tansu did show some emotion when a party member was attacked.

Now one of the big things I did like, Senshi was the first dwarf that we got to know a lot more, when the manga first started out, we did see glimpses of Namari and Daya. But Senshi did paint my view that dwarves are stubborn, and they will do what they want.

But seeing Namari and Senshi interact was a little refreshing to see, because comparing the two you get the vibes that Namari is a classic dwarf, likes making weapons and knows a good weapon when she sees it. While Senshi likes cooking and farming.

When I read the ending chapter…. all I thought was of D&D pet frog Owain. I did like the chapter because Chilchuck was the MVP in that fight. But seeing the frogs dying I was thinking “noooo not the frogs.”

I did feel bad for Marcille and her clothes.

yes of course. making chilchuck the type of smoker my dad is because I say so. he grows his own weed whenever he can manage it and loves getting new stuff. he's a bubbler type guy methinks. senshi likes to smoke when he can and he's not all too picky and can roll a fat blunt when he wants and normally uses a pipe. laios likes the bong and gets falin to roll all his joints bc he's really bad at them and she's surprisingly good. She's the bigger smoker out of the two of them. Marcille is a gummy girl but doesn't mind a joint circle once in a while <3 izutsumi will eat brownies not knowing what they are and once she's out she'll ask for them again. She rips fatties on the bong but prefers a hooka to anything. That and blunts. uh who else. who else can I do. fucking. Kabru? Karbu is only really a social smoker. he joints joint circles and blunt rotations to get things out of people and can handle a little bit from the bong but he's not big on it. he'll have a gummy once in a while to relax. I'm not doing anythign else this is it for now ,maybe I'll write more tomorrow
