Reading up on Mira lore and I gotta say that I really like their bond with Lena! That said, how does "The Phantom and the Sorceress!" fit with Mira present? If they're Lena's mentor, then wouldn't Webby and Violet take her to them, or is she too embarrassed and/or stubborn to go to them for help?

Ohhh man I've been thinking about that actually-

My idea has been that they originally go to Mira for help, but it turns out he's been having the same problems with Phantom Blot as well. (Given that his role in a dangerous prophecy makes him a 'magical threat' in Blot's eyes.) He reveals that he recently had a run-in with Phantom Blot, and nearly got his ass kicked, so he's trying to figure out how to stop him as well. And sadly, not much yet.

So Mira can help Lena with her magic like usual, yeah- But with all of them basically in the same boat about Blot, there's really only one other person they know that could have any idea how to take out this guy- and that’s Magica.

Neither him or Lena like this at all, but Mira promises to have the group's back and begrudgingly helps Magica train Lena. But the two are constantly butting heads while doing so.

Seriously, these two would be at each other’s throats-

When Blot finally comes around for the final showdown, Mira is also a bit of a target of Blot. (Y’know. Magic. Prophecy bs.) But thankfully Lena manages to take blot down as in the episode. And from Mira’s perspective, seeing Lena unlock her true magic gives him a little hope about his own situation.

…Which is near immediately ruined by things going horribly wrong for Mira directly after. (Which is a plot line I’ve mentioned here and there where Talon finds a way to capture/control Mira, leading towards the escape/rescue that ends in him getting his eye scar.)

So yeah- It’s a hell of a lot of fun to think about it, and I’d love to develop it a little further! “The Phantom and the Sorceress!” is one of my favourite episodes of the series, so it’s just kinda neat imagining my weird little dude being a part of it. (And so glad you like Mira and Lena’s dynamic! I need to draw more of them so damn bad-)

Hot Take on Kickstarter

They put WAYYY too much focus on having backers trust these projects…

I swear, Kickstarter used to be viewed as this awesome site for raising funds for your games or projects, right? But over time it’s been losing that reputation.

Why?

Too many people get scammed! And when someone backs a project that ends up in the toilet for one reason or another, why would they ever come back to the site?

So over time more and more people just leave, and the ones who don’t are told about how scary it is. This is what it looks like now;

So what do you do if you want to crowdfund??

It's a rigged system. Kickstarter was meant for small time artists, as a way to get the funding to make their dreams a reality. But if nobody trusts Kickstarter itself, and a lot of donors are leaving the site, who does that leave?

You guessed it.. big companies with BIG IPs that can afford to operate with the 10% tax Kickstarter takes, and has a loyal following that trusts them regardless of Kickstarter's reputation.

Want to be a part of something crazy?

My girlfriend and I are a bit aneurotypical. And we make little sensory-friendly stuffed animals. But we had some trouble getting people to use Kickstarter.

Which means we can’t compete with the trust of big brands as our lil unemployed audhd selves.

Instead of you risking your money on a project that might not deliver, we’re just GIVING you mango borbs as soon as you back us! I sincerely hope that this can be a way to make the playing field a little better. Sending parts of the project before it even finishes. Its a risk, but now that risk is on the creator.

Just out of curiosity, which OCs do you have tons of lore on?

Ohhh man where do I even start-

First of all, I have an entire cast of ocs for my webcomic project @hellonearth-comic. I haven't been able to work on it nearly as much as I'd like since starting it, but I have so many OCs for it with so much lore buzzing around in my head I'm desperate to share-

The whole story is set in a world where the earth is plagued by demonic imps after an event called "The Spill of Hell" (or otherwise known as "The Hellpocalypse"), and 2 years later a 19 year old video game streamer named Milo reunites with their lost uncle who has been trapped in the demon world for most of their life. Their family has a long history in demon hunting, so they end up starting up a demon extermination business called "Demon B. Gone"!

Along the way they find a lot of things, like a scientist who they found hiding out in their car while the evil lab he worked for was being destroyed, Milo's friends who formed a rock band, demonic rebellion and espionage. The usual shit.

For more fandom-oriented OCs, I have a ton of lore bouncing around my head for my Ducktales OCs like Mira and Bolt. I have an ask blog for them called @science-and-sorcery-dt based around their story, but I haven't been able to update that much either. (Despite how much I love these OCs and their lore 😭) I'm on break from college, so I'm currently working on starting it up again!

Either way, I just love Mira, Bolt, and the fucked up "fairy tale" prophecy they have to put up with and I'd kill to make more art/story content about them!

Another that comes to mind is my Owl House dude, Raven Leucosia. I have a ton of lore for the dude, his life, his "people" (the village of Sirens his family led), and the forbidden "lost coven" that has been in his family for generations. I love this weirdo fish dude, and his story is so fun-

And there's a ton more! I don't nearly have enough time and motivation to make all the content I want, but all these characters I make plague my brain and I love them-
