Question for my KOTLC fans out there: what is something you read in the series that you couldn't defend the possible reasoning it was written. For research purposes (and specify what book)

you know what i think kids/teen books do 'fantasy romance/fantasy books' way better than any of the adult fantasy books booktok raves about. i try and read some of them and 90 percent of the time its just smut and abusive relationships disguised as 'dark romance'. then i read books like Keeper Of The Lost Cities, The School for Good and Evil, Percy Jackson, Land of Stories, the Nevermoor series, that kind of thing, and they are all actually so amazing because they have fleshed out characters with flaws and an engaging plotline instead of just badly written romance. and when they do have romance it's well written and about the people rather than the tropes.

The year is 2037. Keeper of the Lost Cities book 10.75 is announced. Its from Keefe’s pov because Sophie’s been in a coma. We still don’t know what the Neverseen want.

None of ya'll are ready to admit the fact that 9.5 (IF DONE WELL) is the perfect way to finally put a greater focus on the problems of Elvin Government, matchmaking systems, etc. Like???? Can you imagine Keefe finding out that most juveniles cannot be tried and treated as adults in some countries and wondering how beneficial a system like that would have been for, like, YOU KNOW, Lihn?

Rereading Neverseen! At the part where Fitz gets impaled 🥰💞

Kotlc and the inherent tragedy of siblings, and the way siblings define one's identity. Dex being the baby of the friend group while also being the tragic older sibling. Fitz being the older "responsible" one while also having a tragic older sibling. Sophie having a sister she's never met and another she lived with for nine years and yet being a sibling isn't a part of her identity and she and Amy are still tragic. Biana being defined by her brothers and yet being more of her own person than either of them while being the youngest. Juline and Edaline staying friends as adults and being defined as mothers and wives more than siblings or aunts, and who don't even share a last name anymore. Kesler being let down by society, and who was probably let down just as much by five older siblings. Tam and Linh who couldn't escape bad luck but at least they never lost eachother, until they did.
