Here I post incorrect quotes and silly scenarios for my favorite game, Fire Emblem Awakening.

Here are a few general information to look forward to / be aware of.

The Awakening Bracket Qualifier! Starts July 26th at 3pm EDT

Here's how it's going to work:

There are going to be 7 qualifying polls (Four for the men, three for the women)

Pick your favorite from each poll

Polls will run for one week (I'd prefer 3 days but alas Tumblr doesn't offer the option yet)

The top 16 male characters and the top 16 female characters will qualify for the men's and women's brackets.

Palette swapped characters (e.g. Victor and Vincent)

Anyone who lacks either a portrait or a unique name

Characters who do not have a unique humanoid form (e.g. Grima, because they either look like a dragon or they just look like Robin)

Characters who are technically included in Awakening via Einherjar, but would fit better with another game's poll (e.g. Marth)

*Yes, I know Lissa is canonically 15 at the start of Awakening. However, there's a two year time skip and she's canonically at least 17, possibly 18 by the end of the game. Taking that into consideration I've decided to include her. Assume she's at her post-time skip age for the purposes of these polls.

I got bored and ranked the fire emblem awakening characters based on how well I think they'd take care of a goldfish.

reasoning for each character below the cut

Henry: he loves animals

Panne: she would not want a fish to be kept in a tank

Cordelia: she's a perfectionist

Tiki: I feel like with her being thousands of years old she's got hobbies. Maybe she spent like a couple decades really into goldfish. You don't know.

Cherche: given how well she cares for Minerva I also think she'd care that well for other animals, but obviously fish are not her main concern

Frederick: he just keeps things neat and orderly in general

Miriel and Laurent: I feel like they're well researched enough to care about a properly maintained fish tank

Nah: she takes super good care of a goldfish because she wants to appear more grown up, and therefore would want to be responsible even if it's just for a fish

Brady: his whole thing is that he looks pretty rugged but is actually kind of a soft guy (i think, it's been a while, if im wrong shhhh) but anyway I think that makes taking care of goldfish kind of like a suitable thing to go with that

Emmeryn: she's compassionate and caring, she wants to take good care of the goldfish, but also she's got a lot to be doing she doesn't have all the time in the world to be a goldfish mom

Libra: he also falls under "caring and so probably would want to do right by the fish but ultimately has other priorities"

Robin: sort of the same reasoning as Miriel and Laurent but a rung lower because I feel like they wouldn't be as perfectionist about it, like they don't know EVERYTHING but they know enough

Morgan: inherited the fish from Robin and therefore know how to take care of it.

Chrom: he's trying his best

Kjelle: she's also trying her best

Ricken: same reasoning as Nah but I don't think that fish is his number one priority so not as much energy put into it as her

Kellam: I feel like Kellam is the kind of guy who can do many many things to a competent degree and you just never notice until it comes up

Donnel: he's a farmboy he's probably decent with animals but maybe doesn't have the funds for anything above and beyond

Say'ri and Yen'fay: I don't remember much about them because they really don't have much supports and their story arc was rushed. But they seem fish capable.

Olivia: she is also trying her best

Stahl: regular guy. regular bowl

Gregor: I don't think he'd care about fish but he'd at least be positive towards them

Noire and Yarne: I don't think they can emotionally handle the responsibility of taking care of a fish /j

Flavia and Basilio: I don't think they'd care about fish either, but I think it would be funny if like, being the reigning Khan of Ferox also means you have to take care of some special goldfish. just in this alternate universe where everyone, singularly, owns a goldfish.

Gaius: he would win a fish at some kind of fair, and he would be upset he didn't get candy instead.

Lon'qu, Gerome, and Sully: I just don't think they'd care about fish. Gerome you could maybe make an argument for considering he cares about Minerva and I ranked Cherche high for that, but to me I don't think he cares about any animal other than Minerva.

Anna: she is selling goldfish in individual bowls

Lucina: this one is a joke based on her support line with whoever her mother is and how she canonically has bad fashion sense. so she'd decorate a fish tank with that bad fashion sense.

Inigo: he would somehow use fish to try to pick up ladies.

Severa: tries to make the fish tank incredibly aesthetically pleasing in order to one-up her mom but accidentally makes the fish tank unlivable by an actual fish.

Cynthia, Vaike, Lissa, Virion, Maribelle, Nowi, Owain, and Sumia: I know they all have different styles but like I feel like for all of them their placement in that tier is self explanatory.

Tharja: she is using that fish as an ingredient to a hex.

Priam: he eats it

Aversa: she gave the fish's soul up to grima

Gangrel: he'd kill the fish and blame it on Ylisse

Walhart: he thinks fish are beneath him

- f!Robin/Chrom, but I also like her with Lon’qu or Kellam if I feel like switching it up

- Chrom/Maribelle, if he’s not with Robin

- On that note, m!Robin/Chrom is good too

- Lucina/Inigo (in case of Chrom/Olivia timeline, Laurent, Yarne, or Morgan - really, I just want to get Lucina paired with SOMEONE because I did not get your A-supports with your parents just so you could fuck off forever anyway-)

- I have to pair Chrom!Morgan with Kjelle because they both walk in on their girlfriends in the shower lol. Otherwise Morgan/Nah.

- Stahl/Sumia, RIP my hopes and dreams (I’ll pair her with either Frederick or m!Robin in game)

- Other m!Robin goodies include Olivia (yes, my very first m!Robin playthrough resulted in him becoming Lucina’s FIL lol), Cordelia, and Miriel (have you seen f!Morgan with Miriel’s hair color because you should, it’s gorgeous).

- Gaius/Cordelia, partly because of funny Revelation family tree shenanigans. Stahl is a good match too.

- Laurent/Noire (S-support cracked me up too much)

- Henry/Olivia

- Panne/Lon’qu

- Brady/Cynthia

- Yarne/Nah (the taguel can live on as long-lived quarter-dragons, that’s honestly awesome)

Annnnd that maybe covers the ones I tend to stick to the most. I enjoy a variety of other pairings without being highly attached to any of them, I’m an ENORMOUS multishipper.

Alexander and Chrom

Lissa and Lon'qu

Lon'qu returned to Regna Ferox and served as Basilio's right-hand man. Lissa decided to leave Ylisstol and join her husband, strengthening the bond between the realms even further.

Frederick and Sumia

As Ylisse's new knight captain, Frederick took charge of keeping the peace and training new recruits. His wife, Sumia, traded her lance for a peaceful stretch of pasture and raised a happy group of pegasi.

Sully and Stahl

Sully and Stahl became the left and right arms of Ylisse and conducted crucial missions across the realm. Their red-and-green banners soon became know everywhere as a symbol of justice and strength.

Virion and Cherche

Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But Cherche's smarts and kindness eventually brought her husband back into good standing.

Miriel and Gregor

After the war, Gregor briefly sank into a life of excess, but when his wife began to treat him like part of the woodwork, he resumed work as a sellsword. Miriel helped out by researching Gregor's targets.

Kellam and Panne

Once the fighting was done, Panne vanished. Some say she returned to her warren alone; others claim she found fellow taguel survivors. Her husband's name has been lost to history.

Donnel and Tharja

Donnel returned to his tiny village and built a happy life with his mother and his wife, Tharja. The latter never warmed to the villagers, but she was said to smile around her family.

Ricken and Maribelle

While continuing to study magic, Ricken realized how childish some of his actions had been. Maribelle went on to be a magistrate, and the couple leaned on each other for the rest of their days.

Cordelia and Gaius

Gaius never lost his sweet tooth, though he ultimately returned to less savory enterprises. As his wife, Cordelia, was in charge of keeping law and order, Gaius dreaded the thought of seeing her on the job.

Nowi and Libra

Many an unfortunate child found joy in the small orphanage Libra and his wife built after the war. Nowi tried her best to take care of the children, but more often than not, they took care of her.

Olivia and Henry

Henry settled down with Olivia and turned out to be a surprisingly good father. Their newborn son inherited both his father's grin and his mother's undying love for entertaining others.

Owain and Cynthia 

Owain set off on a lengthy quest with Cynthia to "stay his sword hand." Their semidelusional journey was said to be one of much mayhem and mirt

Gerome and Lucina

Gerome and Lucina were married and settled down near Wyvern Valley. While her husband never minced the few words he had to say, Lucina understood, and the two built a happy life.

Severa and Yarne

Yarne tried desperately to find a safe haven after the battles were done, but even that journey was fraught with danger- especially as Severa continued to take on dangerous jobs to make ends meet.

Nah and Morgan

Morgan's memory never returned, but he didn't seem to miss it much and lived happily with Nah. Later, scholars would speculate he had come from a different future than the other children.

Brady and Noire

Brady left the priesthood to become the world's scariest violinist. Noire tried to talk him out of it for fear his divine talents as musician and composer would curse them both to an early grave.

cynthia - gaius is my go to dad for cynthia if i'm playing the game. otherwise it's sully, cherche, or panne

severa - libra, lon'qu, chrom, male robin, or kellam

gerome - i did gregor and cherche's supports and now i love gregor as gerome's dad so. gregor, lon'qu, vaike, robin (either), frederick, virion, olivia, sully, or sumia

morgan - libra, vaike, frederick, chrom (female morgan only!), yen'fay, anna, cherche, cordelia, miriel, sully (male morgan only!), lon'qu, and tiki

yarne - kellam is literally my go to dad for yarne. him and panne have such good supports i love them <3 but i am also fond of frederick, libra, olivia, and sumia

laurent - vaike. like almost exclusively. but i also am fond of stahl as laurent's dad or kellam or libra! male robin as well.

noire - preface: fuck tharja! but libra and stahl as noire's dad's <3

If there's something I did during my Lunatic+ of Awakening is marry my units off to get the best children (Marrying Kellam and Nowi feels gross but it makes for a tanky Nah). Henry and Lon'qu are critical hit monsters and they helped carry the game. I'd say Sumia died the most. Any my child units were:

Chrobin of course

Lissa x donnel x ricken (donnel and ricken shared lissa in a sort of "were poly but not for eachother" way at first but ended up falling for eachother too) (to be clear, owain is only born later on after all 3 have had some time to grow up and be like... # adulting.) Both ricken and donnel don't really dig the idea of being a part of the royal family and find it overwhelming but ricken ends up bearing the title as her prince, and continues to pursue magic and become a respected anima wizard. Donnel goes back home to be near his family especially his mother and help on the farm and with her health as she ages, but will eventually slowly make the shift closer to his lovers after his mother's death.

Henry doesn't really commit both because he's aro and it's not really in his nature, but he flits in and out of Libra and Cherche's relationship as a third and plays around with Panne sometimes. He does take responsibility as a father for both Yarne and Gerome though.

Ones I'm kinda ~~~ ehhhh... on

Gaius and Tharja are just kinda loosely together. Tharja is... tharja. Yk... and then gaius just thinks her goth mommy dommy sadist nature is hot but they don't really feel too one way about eachother.

Sully and lon'qu because I really vibe with their ending having Sully become Flavias friend.

Stahl and Cordelia because yeah whatever

Fredrick and Sumia because idk that works

Olivia and Kellam because they're both introverts lol

im trying hard to not make concrete plans for this run in case i do fuck up the iron man and lose someone but here's the vague idea based on what i usually run

chrom/sumia, absolute no brainer, two great kids and the best possible jetpack to keep Chrom out of trouble in the late game.

robin/anna??? just bc i haven't done it yet.

libra/lissa or Henry/Lissa bc you will pry van/ven owain out of my cold dead hands.

sully... either Donnel or Gaius, i prefer Gaius's support and hair colour for Kjelle but they're both annoying to train.

miriel/gregor or miriel/ricken if i somehow get gregor killed but again like Chrom/Sumia it's just the best option

Maribelle/lon'qu???????? normally if i miss any kid i miss Brady but . why not. if no Lon'qu maybe Kellam just for utility.

Tharja as Sully above orrrr i guess Tharja/Henry for a Noire rallybot but robins only utility out of the early game is rally spectrum so hmmmmmmmm

Olivia... like i love Inigo and in general I've been getting ridiculously good levels so maybe i feel up to the Olivia grind. anyway Olivia/Virion is my favourite by far and failing that she can have Kellam or Henry or even Ricken maybe. im trying not to think about Inigo's modifiers.
