On February 2012, when Davis Motomiya and Veemon were making ramen, a giant Digi-Egg appeared in the sky. They then met someone who claimed to be the first ever person partnered to a Digimon, however despite having a Digivice the DigiDestined had no Digimon Partner with them.

Okay so I don’t fully remember which movie it is the 02 kids show up as older teens? But how to you think the teen versions of them (specifically Ken and Daisuke, but also cool if you want to expand on the others) would interact with the kid versions of them from the beginning of 02? Ken went through quite a lot of growth to get where he was later in life, and daisuke matured a lot as well, so it’d be interesting to hear about the interactions they might have with their younger selves!

That would be Kizuna! Iori is 17, Miyako is 20 (legally an adult in Japan), and the rest are 19, although the movie's point makes it fairly clear the exact number of the age doesn't matter. The upcoming movie is unclear about what exact time period it takes place in, but Katayama's continued casting as Daisuke implies it should be around the same arena.

It's interesting that you specify "at the beginning" of 02 because that single year really kicked off the formative directions for, presumably, even the rest of their lives! Even comparing them from the beginning of 02 rather than the tail end of it calls for a pretty drastic difference, so comparing things at some extreme time points like this makes things for a quite drastic comparison.

In the case of Daisuke, perhaps what's most fascinating is that, since he's the weakest in the realm of self-awareness, both versions would probably still be completely unaware of the degree of growth he'd went through, with older Daisuke at most seeing his past self being so wishy-washy and off the rails and having embarrassment of "was I that bad?" Otherwise, both of them are straightforward, and younger Daisuke would be really happy to see his older self "doing something cool" and getting closer to that ramen dream of his. Older Daisuke would try to give his past self some motivating words and stand as a good example of his own future potential.

Ken is where things get a little disheartening, because pulling from the beginning of 02 and not the end means we're talking Ken smack in the middle of his Kaiser phase, who'd see his older self and have tormented feelings over the fact he'd grow up to be so "pathetic" and wasting all of his potential. And yet, older Ken is clearly much happier with his life, and the seeming contradiction between all of that would drive him nuts. Older Ken knows all of this and knows exactly why his younger self is so tormented, and although I think even some words from his future self alone may not be sufficient to do it, I think he'd at least try to say some things that'd encourage him to get back on the right path. And, even despite everything, he himself knows that everything turned out okay with the help of the others around him, so he can only worry so much.

For the others, I think Miyako would be similar to Daisuke in that she'd be stoked to see her future self so gorgeous and cool, although the level of self-esteem problems Miyako had to overcome to get there would escape herself a bit. Hikari and Takeru know a bit more about their own problems, but those problems had to be overcome with the help of the others, so I think they'd simply just have to take the fact their future selves seem to be doing well as a good sign, and both sides would communicate reasonably well. Iori would probably want to consciously talk it out with his older self picking his brain about what answers he found about the right thing to do, and, again, I don't think one conversation would do it -- especially since older Iori himself would be very quick to admit even he hasn't found all the answers yet -- but Iori would be a bit more confident knowing that the right path would be ahead. I also think that if we're talking post-series Ken and not Ken from the beginning of 02, the reaction would be similar -- in the end, Ken wouldn't really ever have the right answers to anything at any point, but a younger version of Ken would be satisfied to know that his future self will still be happy and supported by his friends, and that it was the correct decision to keep taking that path.

Yu Yu Hakusho Stage Play - Part 2

December 4th performances were cancelled. Actor Ken Tanabe tested positive for COVID-19 . Fortunately, he is asymptomatic and the rest of the staff and actors are negative.

- 12.18 ~ 12.20: Osaka (Cool Japan Park Osaka WW Hall)

December 18th (18:30) and 19th (13:00 and 17:30) performances were canceled. An actor reported poor physical condition and underwent medical tests including PCR. Performers tested negative for COVID-19, fortunately it was just a cold. Ken Tanabe is also back to the performances.

- Mitsuru learns the existence of Aigis

- Eiichiro Takeba, opposing The Fall, divides Death in thirteen parts. He is killed by Kouetsu

- Death escapes the Kirijo Group and, during Aigis confrontation with the shadow, they cause a car crash that kills Minato's parents. Death's escape caused the death of Kouetsu and many scientists lose their lives. This whole mess creates the Dark Hour as well as Tartarus

- Aigis seals a portion of Death inside Minato, who takes the form of Pharos

- The Kirijo Group starts to experiment on 100 street children to create Artificial Persona Users. Eventually, only Takaya Sakaki, Jin Shirato and Chidori Yoshino will survive, creating Strega

- To pay for the expensive Persona suppressants, Strega creates an assassination-for-hire website during the Dark Hour

as a brazilian, what did you think about the portuguese dub? I've seen a lot of people complaining from here...

Yeah, I’m well aware of that. I think that PV is not the final product! I really think they made it quickly for an announcement… But honestly I’m not the kind to demand the entire original cast back (especially when some VAs had disappeared from the industry… And then there’s the case of the Brazilian VA for TK/Takeru in our dub, who had passed away in 2015 i think?)

Look, I want to support the dub. But I also don’t want something bad to the point it becomes mocked for the rest of the decade by those people who seem to hate digimon or just 02 series.

I think the best is to change voice actors and not try to cater to impossible goals like “bringing A’s voice actor back”. Like of course I’d love to have Adriana Torres back as Yolei, or V-mon’s VA. Or some wild miracle and get Bruno Pontes back once again for Davis. But I’m realistic. Even the original version of the movie got the Kizuna cast because some of the OG VAs from 02 are retired (at least Araki (Hikari) and Kiuchi(?) (Daisuke) are, and we don’t know what happened to Yamamoto (Takeru) too… All I see is Park (Ken) and Natsuki (Miyako) around, counting with Urawa (Iori) who’s still involved because she also voiced Armadimon – and even that it’s kinda awkward somehow…)

But i think they need to get a better voicing directing here. There’s potential! So i hope the final version of the movie is better than that PV.

Also, i believe it’s just a wild whiplash effect – Most of the Brazilians who watched recent movies are possibly more used to the new Japanese cast in general. We didn’t get Kizuna dubbed here to make us get used to them, so… But lots of people managed to watch Kizuna in some way or another – be it illegally or importing from EN or JP releases in Blu-Ray. So I think most of them are used to Katayama and co. so far…

Again, I want to support the Brazilian dub industry, but at the same time i want something good, at least enjoyable, and not something bad enough to ruin the movie’s reputation and gimme more annoying headaches with the Brazilian crowd.

La pellicola uscirà in Giappone il 21 febbraio 2020 e festeggerà i 20 anni del franchise!

Pubblicata una breve clip tratta da “Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna”, Il nuovo film d’animazione del popolare franchise che debutterà in Giappone il 21 febbraio 2020. 

I protagonisti del video sono Davis/Daisuke Motomiya (Fukujurou Katayama) Ken Ichijouji (Arthur Lounsbery), Yolei/Miyako Inoue (Ayaka Asai) e Cody/Iori Hida (Yoshitaka Yamaya), i Digiprescelti della serie tv “Digimon Adventure 02″.

Il lungometraggio è diretto da Tomohisa Taguchi (Persona 3 the Movie, Kino’s Journey - The Beautiful World) presso lo studio Yumeta Company. La sceneggiatura è curata da Akatsuki Yamatoya (Digimon Adventure, Digimon Frontier) e il comparto animazioni è diretto da Seiji Tachikawa (Kino’s Journey - The Beautiful World, Blue Spring Ride).

La pellicola festeggia i 20 anni del franchise ed è supervisionata dallo storico produttore Hiromi Seki. Il concept dei personaggi, ormai ventiduenni, è ad opera di Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Digimon Adventure, Dragon Ball GT), mentre il creature design è invece quello di Kenji Watanabe. Il cast principale del film sarà lo stesso di “Digimon Adventure tri.”, quindi la storia riunirà i protagonisti di entrambe le storiche serie animate.
