Angsty Love Prompt List
“You say you’re dangerous. That you destroy everything you touch. So destroy me. Ruin me. Tear me apart, and let me love you all the same. “
“And I'm not afraid to love you. Only afraid my love won’t be enough. “
“I feel like shit.” “You look like it, too.” *they bump shoulders*
“This wasn’t supposed to happen. You weren’t supposed to do this to me.”
"Nothing about any moment I've ever spent with you will ever be a regret.”
"I'll find you. Okay? I promise you, whatever happens, I’ll find you, and we'll be together, and everything will be good again. "
“Do you truly believe that anything so little as a rule, or a law, might have stopped me from protecting you? “
“You. I'll always and endlessly fight for you. “
“This path you’re on… it’s gonna get you killed. You know that, though; don’t you? “
“What the hell were you thinking?! You could’ve been killed! “
“You need to go now, okay? Don’t worry. I've got this. They’ll want to be trying a lot harder if they want to keep me from protecting you.“

“ i’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe. no matter the cost. “ for any of your SWTOR babes
Thank you for this prompt! This is going to be part of a 2 part fic, so here is part 1! AO3 link
This fic includes @kaosstar Derrick, an SIS agent who becomes Keshani's partner when she joins the Republic.
~~~~
“I can do it.”
The distance from her sniper perch to the entrance of the warehouse where a group of SIS operatives were imprisoned wasn’t all that far, but that wasn’t what concerned her. No, that was the guard rotation that included multiple Sith and a forcefield that Jonas wouldn’t be able to break. Keshani would have to find a way to take it down and deal with all of the enemies without getting killed. The vibroknife at her hip was at least some comfort.
“It’s not possible.” Jonas Balkar, SIS agent and her liaison to the Republic, whispered over the comm.
Keshani bit her lip to keep from snapping back. “I’m perfectly capable-”
“That wasn’t ever in question.” He muttered harshly, his voice cracking slightly from the stress. “Going in alone is a suicide run. There’s five armed guards, not to mention the two Sith that could choke you from across the room.”
“Just so you know, most Sith don’t have the kind of power to just ‘choke’ someone from across a room.”
He sighed, not bothering to turn the comm off when he did so. “I never thought I would end up with the insane Imperial as my partner, but here I am.”
“Are you done? I’d like to get this over with. I have a pazaak game with Arcann waiting for me back on Odessen.” Keshani adjusted her rifle, looking through the scope to watch the closest Sith. He was human, scars on his face covered by an elaborate black tattoo, gold eyes set in a pale face hidden by the hooded cloak he wore. The other Sith was a Zabrak, female, and looked like the bigger threat if her red eyes and dark side corruption were any indication. She would have to find a way to take her down quickly.
“Funny. I’m sure that’s not the only thing that Arcann is waiting for.”
Keshani barely stopped the laugh that threatened to slip past her lips. “Jonas, it almost sounds like you’re jealous.”
“I-”
“Can we keep focused?” Another voice hissed over the comm. Derrick, her actual SIS partner, was set up on the other side of the street doing his own surveillance. “Kesh- I’ll keep my scope on you. I’ll take any shot I need to.”
“Thank you, Derrick.” She said, sincerely. It had been a surprise, this budding friendship with the Republic agent, but he had quickly become one of the only people she trusted with her life.
And that list was extremely short.
“I don’t like this plan.” Jonas continued, as if Derrick’s interruption hadn’t even happened.
Keshani resisted the urge to roll her eyes. “Maybe I should’ve brought Theron.”
“I brought you on, instead of Theron, because you know how the Empire operates. Please don’t insult me.”
“Then let me be honest with you, Balkar. The Empire kills hostages. It’s unlikely that whoever was caught is still alive.” Peering through the scope one final time, she watched as a guard began to walk from the warehouse, on his way to patrol the alleys. “Derrick?”
“I see him. Going dark.”
Silence followed as he went to subdue the guard. She wouldn’t have long before the other guards would notice the absence. Taking a deep breath, she swept her gaze over the battlefield, noting that the female Sith had disappeared into the warehouse. Now was the time to strike.
As she was about to leave her perch, movement caught her attention. Jonas was approaching the warehouse, glancing around the alleys with a look of wonder, as if he didn’t know what he was walking into. Might possibly work, but only one thought flashed through her mind.
The idiot was going to get himself killed.
With each step that took him closer to the human Sith, who had definitely caught sight of him, the dread she felt increased. She was going to be witness to his death at the hands of the Empire. The SIS agent who helped get her away from the Sith was going to jump in front of one for his agents.
Like Ardun did-
Refusing to dig up those dark thoughts, Keshani stashed her rifle before running her hands through her short blonde bob. She needed a plan and fast. Grabbing a bottle of something that smelled strongly of alcohol from a nearby bin, she tried to figure out what the best approach was. A lost tourist? A wayward drunk? Speeder crashed in an alley and needed to make a holocall?
She pondered the bottle before tossing it back into the bin. None of those were going to work. The Sith weren’t that stupid. They’d never believe the two of them didn’t know each other. Coincidences weren’t the norm and even if it was true, they would kill them first.
“The guard is dead. I’m back in position.” Derrick said over the comm, pausing briefly before letting out a furious sigh. “What is he doing?”
“Getting himself killed.”
“Keshani-”
She could imagine the look on his face. Dammit, Balkar. “I’m on it, Derrick. Just keep your rifle on us. It might go bad fast.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Improvise.”
She could hear the exhaustion in his voice. “Just- keep him from doing anything else stupid. I don’t want to have to explain to Theron that his best friend got his dumb ass killed.”
Keshani would have found the comment funny in normal circumstances, but nothing about this applied. Throwing caution to the wind, she hurried out of the alley after Jonas, hoping that she could intercept him before a guard did, but luck didn’t appear on her side.
Jonas stood a few feet away, hands up, eyes wide as he stared down the barrel of a blaster. She couldn’t hear what he was mumbling, but the Sith was approaching quickly, hand on his lightsaber.
“Darling!” She called out in her best Pub accent, trying to ignore the wince Jonas had made at the sound of her voice. “There are you! Who are your friends?”
Keshani managed to hide the terror she felt as she smiled at the guard, slipping her hand into Jonas’ so quickly that he didn’t even notice at first. Jonas cleared his throat, glancing at her with a frown. “Sweetheart, I told you to stay with the speeder. I was going to get directions.”
She raised an eyebrow at him. What was he playing at? “Oh, no. I wasn’t going to let you wander around alone! We don’t know what kind of people are roaming around Nar Shaddaa?” Keshani made a point of glancing directly at the approaching Sith.
The guard shifted uncomfortably, following her gaze. At the sight of the Sith, he paled significantly. “My lord, I have it handled-”
The Sith put a hand out, grabbing the guard by the neck with his force powers. Then he lifted him into the air. The man clawed at his neck, gasping for air. Jonas tightened his grip on her hand. A muscle in his jaw had twitched, the only proof of the deep seated fear he felt. Sith weren’t the usual enemy an SIS agent handled on a mission. Not like her old job when she was usually a pawn for one.
Keshani squeezed his hand gently to comfort him, but she doubted it did anything. Not so close to the very thing he was terrified of. “Please, my lord, we don’t want any trouble. We were just looking for some help. You see, we got turned around-”
The Sith took his focus off of the guard and slapped her hard in the face. She immediately tasted blood. She pretended not to notice that Jonas had shifted his entire body in front of her, as if he was protecting her from another attack. He wouldn’t be able to do much against a Sith, but she appreciated it.
Derrick’s voice filled her earpiece. “I’ll fucking kill him.”
Her ears were ringing from the force of the slap, but it didn’t rattle her like he expected it to. If she examined it later, it would probably concern her, but Keshani was used to being pushed around by the Sith. It didn’t frighten her like it used to. With the best quiver of the lips she could give, she glanced up at him with eyes full of unshed tears.
“Open your mouth again and you’ll get worse.” The Sith barked, eyes glowing gold in the shadow of his hood.
Keshani noted that the guard had been released from the chokehold and had disappeared from the Sith’s side. At least they no longer had an audience, but if she timed this right, they wouldn’t get much of a chance to get behind cover once she acted.
She slipped her hand out of Jonas’ and moved around him, her other hand sliding out of sight of the Sith. She could feel the handle of the vibroknife she carried against her palm and she couldn’t help it: she smiled. “Please, my lord, we only-”
When the Sith raised his hand again, this time in a fist, Keshani struck. With the vibroknife in her grip, she ducked the attack, stabbing upwards, the blade easily sliding into the thick part of his neck, severing his head from his body. It took a few seconds for the guards to realize their commander was dead. By the time they opened fire, Keshani and Jonas were behind cover, in a different building in an adjacent alley.
“Any help would be great right about now, Derrick!”
A blaster bolt nearly got her when she tried to glance at the battlefield and Jonas pushed her against the wall of the building, his body curled around hers. She could feel his breath against her cheek, labored from their sudden run across the streets. Her hands gripped his leatheris jacket and she found that this sudden closeness wasn’t entirely awful.
Jonas shifted slightly, his forehead brushing against hers when he met her eyes. She glanced at his lips instinctively, unable to look away. They’d been dancing around each other for months now, but even in the thick of the fire, she couldn’t help but admire him.
The crack of a rifle accompanied the blaster fire. “One down. That leaves you with two.”
Keshani did the math in her head. There should be three unless-
“Where’s the fifth guard?” Jonas asked, beating her to it. He was still watching her with an intensity that made her both uncomfortable and excited in ways she didn’t want to think about.
“Your force choked buddy took off as soon as he could. I guess he didn’t like being at the other end of a Sith’s powers.”
Keshani met Jonas’ gaze, a smile curling her lips. Two guards- between the three of them, that was completely doable. He couldn’t help but return the expression. Lifting a blaster, he gave her an expectant look. “After you?”
Taking the offered weapon, she faced their enemies, feeling the heat of his body at her back when he moved closer, lifting his own blaster. They were so close to victory. She hoped that the other agents were still alive.
“We, uh, have a problem.”
Keshani didn’t have to ask what the problem was. She could see it. The other Sith had returned and she wasn’t alone. No, those agents they were trying so hard to save were behind her, bound and gagged, a terrified expression on each of their faces.
“Enough! If you don’t want me to slaughter every one of these spies, come out and face your fate, Cipher. These loyal Imperials deserve some justice.”
Justice. That was certainly one way to put it. She didn’t need to glance in Jonas’ direction to know he was seething under his usual cool exterior. This Sith had probably killed more innocents in her short time as a Lord than any amount of people killed between Keshani and her SIS partners.
But her former title gave her pause. Cipher. She hadn’t been Cipher Nine in almost five years. The Sith hadn’t even seen her face, yet she knew who had come to save those SIS agents.
A sigh slipped past the Sith’s lips. Shoving a Twi’lek man roughly to the ground in front of her, she activated her lightsaber, the violet-black of the crystal clashing with her crimson skin. The blade came to rest on the man’s neck, close enough so he could feel the heat of the saber, but not close enough to burn him. “I’m waiting.”
Keshani moved forward, intending to meet the Sith head on if she had to, but Jonas grabbed her by the arm, pulling her back. When she turned to confront him, she faltered at the terrified expression on his face.
“What are you doing?! She’s going to kill you if you go out there.”
“And she’ll kill them if I don’t.” Her eyes dropped to the blaster in her hand, knowing that it would do little against the power of a high ranking Sith. He was right, she would probably die. But leaving the fates of half a dozen of the Republic’s people to the Empire was not something she was willing to let happen. “The Sith don’t keep hostages, Jonas. This was a setup.”
His grip tightened slightly. “All the more reason not to go out there.”
“We both know that I have to. She wants me. She’ll kill them, you, and Derrick to get to me.”
Jonas stepped closer, a look of physical pain on his face. “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe. Just- be careful.” Resting his forehead against hers, he closed his eyes as the next words tumbled from his lips. “Come back to me.”
Keshani x Jonas: 5. “Nothing about any moment I’ve ever spent with you will ever be a regret.”
Here it is! Only took a few months to figure out how to use this with them. AO3 link if you'd rather read it there. This is a direct sequel ficlet to Justice.
~~~~
Over the last few days, every time she woke up, Keshani Zythor would reach up and brush her fingers against the bandage, wincing at the reminder of how close her life had ended. It wasn’t the first time, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last, but this time scared her more than she was willing to admit.
Lokin had examined her the moment they’d returned to Odessen. No amount of assuring him that she was fine kept him from locking himself into the medbay with her and doing a full medscan. She acquiesced so that he would feel better about her running off to play hero, but really, she was worried herself. She’d lost a lot of blood.
Most of her friends had visited her over the last few days: Kaliyo, Raina, Arcann. Her brother had passed through before he had to leave on a mission for the Alliance, but something he said had chilled her.
Nox will regret sending her people after mine.
Vector was with her now, his gentle voice calm and reassuring to her ears. There was still respect between them, perhaps more than a little love, even years after their amicable parting. He was still there when she needed it and though her feelings concerning them hadn’t changed, she appreciated him more than he would ever realize.
“You are quiet, Agent.”
His black eyes held more warmth than most people she knew.
“It’s been a long few days.” She admitted, turning away from him to stare at her pale hands.
“Should we leave you to rest?”
He reached out to cover her hands with one of his own, squeezing gently in the way that alway put her at ease. She glanced up, managing the tiniest of smiles for him. “Your presence is always welcome, Vector. You can stay if you’d like.”
“We are honored to be among your friends, Agent.”
The honor was hers, truly, but she didn’t deserve his friendship. Especially after how she had left him all those years ago, disappeared into the shadows. Even now, she still had nightmares about her time in Imperial Intelligence.
The whooshing of the door broke into her thoughts. When she turned to greet the new visitor, she was surprised to find a familiar pair of blue eyes watching her. Eyes that she’d been desperate to see.
Jonas Balkar stood there, staring at the bandage on her neck, tension in his body like a coiled spring. She wasn’t sure if he’d been injured during the fight against Darth Imperius. She hadn’t seen him or Derrick since they’d arrived on Odessen. But nothing appeared out of place as she watched him, no sign that he’d been wounded.
So why had it taken so long for him to visit?
Keshani lifted her hand and brushed the kolto patch. “Dr. Lokin assures me that it won’t scar.”
“I-” He broke off, running a hand through his hair nervously. “That’s… good?”
Vector glanced between them, a curious expression on his face. Not much embarrassed her anymore, but Keshani couldn’t help the blush that colored her cheeks at obvious insinuation there. “Perhaps we should leave.”
“Vector-”
He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder to keep her from standing. “Stay. We will speak later.”
Keshani nodded, silent as he made his exit, pausing briefly to nod a greeting to Jonas before he stepped into the chaos of the Alliance base. Once the door shut, the noise ceased, leaving her with Jonas in an oppressive and uncomfortable silence.
She could sit in the silence for as long as was required, but she knew that Jonas wouldn’t be the first to break it. Not if his confused expression was anything to go by.
With a sigh, Jonas sank down onto the chair that Vector had occupied not more than a minute or two before. He wouldn’t meet her gaze, looking at a spot on the floor near her bunk. She watched him out of the corner of her eye, not wanting to stare, but he was clearly upset. Mouth pulled down in a frown, eyes focused on nothing in particular, dark circles forming on the pale skin under his eyes.
He hadn’t slept, perhaps in days.
Curling her legs beneath her body, hating how her hands shook at the mere thought that Jonas found her tiring, more trouble than she was worth, or worse, that he didn’t want to be her friend, if she could even call him that.
“Jonas, are you alright?” The words slipped out before she could stop them, but she was worried. She’d never seen him so haggard before. Nor so serious.
He let out a laugh without a trace of humor in it, the frown pulling his skin tight. “No, I’m not. Can I be honest with you?”
Keshani valued honesty, but it hadn’t been a common occurrence in her life. With her family, it was dangerous to be honest. The same applied to her time in Imperial Intelligence. And on her hunt for the conspirators in the Black Codex. But now, with the Alliance and the SIS… she had the opportunity to be something more than a weapon.
The only problem was she didn’t know how.
“You can always be honest with me, Jonas.” It was a natural response, but she meant it. She trusted him, trusted the people in his circle. He was a good man.
He huffed a breath, running a hand again through his already messy hair, eyes looking anywhere but her face. “What were you thinking? You could’ve been killed.”
“And what about you?”
That caught his attention. He glanced at her suddenly, blue eyes slanting dangerously. “What about me?”
“You can put yourself in danger for the mission, but I can’t? What kind of crap is that, Balkar? I’ve been doing this as long as you have.” She met his gaze unflinchingly. “I don’t need your protection.”
“Those people we saved are Republic citizens. SIS. They are my people and I owe them. I wasn’t going to leave their lives to chance.”
She could almost feel his frustration so she did the only thing she knew how. Keshani told him the truth.
“They’re my people now too.” She snapped, crossing her arms, ignoring the way the movement pulled at her neck injury. Lokin would kill her if she pulled the stitches, but this was important. “I swore myself to the Republic when I defected and I intend to honor the promise I made. I will protect these people with my life if I have to. I can’t believe you still question that.”
Jonas deflated, looking away across the room.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered into the silent room. “It’s not that I don’t trust you… I just- don’t want to lose you too, after everything.”
The war… he meant the war.
“You must regret trusting me… as your partner and your friend.”
Keshani smiled slightly, knowing that he never revealed parts of himself that he couldn’t easily hide with an easy smile and a joke. He was taking a huge risk by trusting her with his vulnerability.
“Nothing about any moment I’ve ever spent with you will be a regret, Jonas.” She wanted to reach out, but resisted, knowing whatever they had was fragile at the moment. “You’ve never lied to me. I can’t say that about many people, but I appreciate it. More than you can ever know.”
Jonas sighed, finally relaxing despite everything that had brought them here. “I’ll make sure your trust in me isn’t misplaced then.”
When he lifted his eyes, she nodded, a new understanding between them. “You won’t.”

close minded/open-minded: Her family was always extremely close minded to things so she tries her best to break herself of that. She refuses to be anything like the rest of the Imperials she’s met.
calm/anxious: She’s always been afraid that once her usefulness ran out, she would be executed, whether by the Imps or her own mother. She was never much loved by her mother so it made her a constant ball of anxiety growing up.
