What is your favorite song?

1. What is your favorite song?

Astra: "I mean, I'll listen to whatever I can snatch from the recordin' rune I stuck in the Yewbury Concert Hall, but gods a'mighty, I love it when they bring some dwarven brass bands through there. They just sound so alive! I don't know the title a' that one number I listened to a lil' while back, but damn it stuck with me." (Norwegian Wood by Buddy Rich Big Band)

Mashal: "I kind of just listen to whatever Astra plays through her recording rune. She's partial to swing music, but I don't know, I really like some of those classic Janazi symphonies. Siren music is really good too, but it's rare that any of that gets played outside of Unity. Probably my favorite is the one with all the strings. So specific, I know, but I never remember the titles." (Gypsy Melodies, Op. 55, B. 104: IV. Songs My Mother Taught Me by Antonín Dvořák, Kian Soltani)

Ivander: "Francis Unity's debut piece. He's a true musical genius of our time, combining dwarvwn rhythms with a siren style. I saw him once in concert. That's not a day I'll soon forget." (Glad to be Unhappy by Paul Desmond)

2. Do you like consuming happy, positive media, or sadder, more thought-provoking media?

Astra: "I like weird stories. Gimme somethin' that makes me go 'What the fuck just happened there?' and I'll be happier than a pig in shit."

Mashal: "I like happy endings. Yes, I'm boring, I know, but isn't the world sad enough? I like reading about people overcoming incredible odds because it makes me feel like I could do that too."

Ivander: "Give me a twisted story. One where no one is in the right and everyone has dirty secrets. I like to see if I can figure out the ending before it happens. Let's call that keeping my detective skills sharp."

3. What is your favorite type of weather?

Astra: "I love the power of a good, mean thunderstorm! My Extraordinaire can make it through anything, so I don't gotta worry about bein' safe, I just get to enjoy those big thunder cracks and the noise a' rain. I sleep like a baby when it's stormin' outside."

Mashal: "I like anything that isn't rain. Rust drives me insane, so I always hide inside when it's wet out."

Ivander: "A nice, windless day will do for me. I'm also not a fan of the rain, and my curse always gets worse when a storm rolls in."

Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason plays on Rostropovich’s cellos. As is the case for many cellists, such as Pablo Ferrandez and Kian Soltani, the great Mstislav Rostropovich is an inspiration for Kanneh-Mason. He rightly notes how Rostropovich inspired so many composers to produce new repertoire for the cello, and how he could produce a richness of sound on the instrument.

COVID 19 : UM DIA HISTÓRICO - DESCONFINAMENTO DA ZICA A 30 DE MAIO ! : foi hoje que a Maria Zaza saiu de casa pela primeira vez ! Tive o cuidado de desenhar um programa interessante mas cauteloso . Fomos pelas cinco da tarde ver a exposição “Lendo resolve-se: Álvaro Lapa e a Literatura” na Culturgest .Normas de segurança máxima começando com a anticonstitucional medição da temperatura . Diga-se desde já que mesmo antes da pandemia os museus em Portugal são ,na maioria dos casos , lugares de pouca concentração.... ontem estiveram 15 visitantes .Ao conteúdo da exposição com excelente curadoria voltarei com o detalhe que merece . Faltava comprar um livro sem o que a visita da Maria Zaza a museus e galerias não fica completa . A prenda que ofereci foi “ Sequências narrativas completas “ , Alvaro Lapa ( Assírio e Alvim ,1994) .Depois seguimos a pé já com temperaturas mais amenas até a Mercantina Bistro na Avenida República onde jantamos cedo . A dona da casa escolheu uns scalopine e eu reincidi no risotto de cogumelos com redução de vinho de Porto . Ficamos numa janela vendo a antiga casa da Zica e assistindo ao espectáculo da rua .Depois foi o exercício de caminhar até casa num dia em que andamos 3,5 km . O dia terminou com mais um excelente programa da RTP2 .- A celebração do centenário de Leonard Bernstein em Tanglewood este ano .O programa celebra Bernstein como compositor e maestro, apresentando obras de Gustav Mahler, um dos compositores favoritos de Bernstein. Os maestros Andris Nelsons, Keith Lockhart, John Williams e Michael Tilson Thomas dirigem a Orquestra Sinfônica de Boston, com a participação de Midori, Thomas Hampson, Isabel Leonard, Yo-Yo Ma, Kian Soltani, Nadine Sierra, Susan Graham .
