Edith’s eyes are fixed on the same spot even after Kiara leaves, a scowl so deep one would guess the door personally insulted her; in the busy aftermath of the mission no one seems to notice her troubled look, or the subtle shake of her shoulders as she folds her arms impossibly tight.

She swallows once. Then again. 

It’s been like this ever since she’s started working with Unit Bravo: she’s been biting her tongue, pushing down words that would’ve darted out of her before and hit their bullseye. Instead she’s been stuck with this acrid taste in her mouth, uncharacteristically docile as she ends unborn conversations and walks away before the hellos.

And that’s what her every instinct is telling her to do now, too. Say nothing, walk away. It’s the smart choice, the self-preserving one. But when it comes to her sister she can’t afford to do damage control.

“You don’t listen to her.” It’s out of her mouth before she can think twice of it, her tone clipped and decisive.

She hasn’t yelled, has not even raised her voice, but she feels like she might have. Everyone stops, sensing the shift in the air. 

Rebecca is frozen on the spot, looking right at Edith like she just threw ice water on her. Like she knew the accusation was directed at her.

Unit Bravo glances between them in confusion, but nobody speaks. Edith doesn’t even spare a quick look their way, all of her focus on Rebecca. She steels herself. 

Too late to go back now.

“You never listen to her.” She doesn’t have to say Kiara’s name to see Rebecca’s unyielding features soften, settling into hurt. “She told you she was hurt, and you made it about yourself.” 

Again. That last word hangs between them, unspoken and unforgiving.

Rebecca frowns. “That was not my intention.”

“It never is, no,” Edith sighs through her nose, shoulders falling a bit. 

Tiring, so tiring… She wants to do this for Kiara, stand up for her because she won’t, but it’s as if every cutting word she aims at Rebecca is shot back at her. 

She hugs herself tighter, the blood on her tongue feeling almost as sickening as her next words. “You remember organising a kids’ birthday party and feeling guilty about having to miss it. What I remember is a seven-year-old kid in a dress too big for her, trying not cry in front of all of her friends after you left. Even saved you a slice of cake that she knew was gonna get thrown away. She was staring up at me with those giant weepy eyes and I couldn’t do shit about it.”

“Edith…” Rebecca’s tone is soft, regretful, and it’s but a water drop on a pyre. “That wasn’t your responsibility.” 

“Then why’d you leave me to pick up your slack, huh?” Edith snaps, then reins herself in when she notices the way Nate is looking at her. “Whatever, that’s not what I–” Her jaw clenches briefly as she looks away. 

That’s not what she wants to talk about, it doesn’t matter. She’s glad Kiara isn’t here right now, lest she think she resents her. Truth is, taking care of her sister was never something Edith did just because there was no one else. It was a choice, one that she hasn’t stopped making (because having to choose, she would always choose Kiara). 

But telling Rebecca where she went wrong as a mother somewhat means reminding her she has two kids, something Edith is not all too keen on doing. It’s the same as throwing a grenade and then stand there, waiting for the shrapnel to tear into you. 

Right now I’d pick the fucking grenade. 

Edith’s lips purse as she meets Rebecca’s gaze again. “Two days later, at school, one of Kiara’s classmates made fun of her. Said ‘not even her mom cared about her birthday.’ I threw my lunch at him during break and got sent to the principal, so they called you. You didn’t show up there either,” she adds the last part with a smirk so venomous Rebecca almost recoils.

It’s true, though. Rebecca was too busy at work that day, so she had sent a sitter instead. And then grounded Edith for “using her hands and not her words”... as if a cold cheeseburger hurled at your head would hurt as bad as a punch.

Rebecca fidgets on the spot, the few wrinkles on her face more evident as her brow furrows in guilt. Edith can sense the apology before it comes.

“I am–”

“Don’t.” She doesn’t need any of this from her mother, doesn’t need her to be sorry. It’s too late for the two of them, anyway. 

But maybe there’s something they can both fix. 

“That’s not why I’m telling you. You get that, right?”

Edith’s gaze pierces through Rebecca, who faces it bravely this time. Eventually she nods, lips pursed and poise stiff. 

“I’ll do better. I want to be better… for her.”

Edith smiles at that. It’s bittersweet, and not all that trustful, but it’s there. 

Maybe there is something the two of them have in common, after all.

During Kie's Kook Year, she performed at a "Rock the OBX" festival, but when she started singing a lyrically modified version of "Get Up Stand Up" that called out the kooks, she got booed offstage and her mom was PISSED. Sarah mentions that Rose had called Kie a bad influence and that she didn't want her around Tannyhill anymore, but Sarah was just super proud to have Kie as a friend in that moment

This is literal gold idc what anyone says

Kie assigns astrological signs to each of the pogues!!! Sarah is a Sagittarius, John B is a Leo, Kie is an Aquarius, Pope is a Virgo, and JJ is an Aries (astrology bitches how are we feeling about these placements) Also unclear whether these are supposed to line up with their birthdays

Anna dropped out of college to start the Wreck with Mike

One time, the pogues showed up to the Wreck high out of their minds after a crazy Saturday night and ended up eating every leftover in the kitchen

When Kie was helping out in the kitchen one day, she accidentally dumped a bowl of pimento cheese into a batch of shrimp and grits. Not wanting to piss off her dad, she just served the shrimp and grits as is, and a bunch of customers started complimenting the "spicy shrimp and grits". After coming clean about what had happened, Mike added it to the menu. (super important jiara note: according to 1x03, JJ's order at the Wreck is beer and shrimp and grits. just saying.)

Apparently Midsummers took place on Friday, July 19th, 2019 and this timeline makes me want to claw out my frontal lobe

Denmark Tanny seems to have been a lot like Pope, which is a cool detail. He worked as a cook on the Royal Merchant and wrote in his diary about keeping a level, logical head despite his shipmates getting drunk and generally being wild

Heyward capitalized on the kooks' panic surrounding Hurricane Agatha and raised his delivery prices before the storm hit. Some things that the kooks considered "essential" in light of a hurricane were 10 bags of Skinnypop (assorted mix ONLY), 3 Bloody Mary mixes, 10 bottles of cocktail sauce, and 4 tins of Fancy Feast Gourmet cat food (organic ONLY)

Heyward always has a booth at the OBX Boardwalk Summer Festival, and during the summer when Kie and Sarah were mortal enemies, he happened to have a booth next to the Wreck's. When Sarah went to order something, Kie refused to serve her, saying that "traitors go hungry". Pope then told Sarah to spend her money at Heyward's instead, which pissed Kie off and made her tell the pogues that they were forbidden to talk to Sarah

While writing a physics paper about bottle rockets, Pope and the rest of the pogues set some off outside of Heywards and broke 3 windows

Pope has written practice college admission essays about the time he ran out of his scholarship interview to help his friends. I love this quote from one of the drafts: "Opportunities come and go, but there are precious few chances to be there for your friends when it really matters. In the end, I decided to be there for them." 🥹🥹

When Heyward was catering the Kildare County Sheriff's Department Annual Holiday Party, Pope witnessed Shoupe, very drunk on Moscow mules, slamming down oysters and singing a karaoke cover of "I Fought the Law"

When Heyward was catering the Vanderhorst Homeowners Association Annual Autumn Gala, a bunch of the kooks were super rude to Pope and Heyward and not tipping them, so Heyward left bags of empty shellfish and fish bones in their garbage cans, making the whole street reek for days

How each of the Pogues (minus John B apparently) would spend their shares of the money:

Pope: a submarine to research aquatic life, a new video camera, a mansion, a garage full of vintage cars, a vacation for his parents, a tutor to teach him Gullah, founding the Denmark and Cecilia Tanny Scholarship Foundation, and restoring the Freedman's Assembly Church

Kie: recording a double album in her mansion with a built-in studio, emancipation from her parents, a private chef, donating to a bunch of environmental charities to try to save every endangered species, and buying Kildare Island and kicking out the residents so the animals can take over again

Sarah: a wardrobe makeover for herself and John B, buying Tannyhill to kick out her family and give the keys to Pope, an international trip with Wheezie, and taking a private trip to space with the pogues

JJ: The Surf Trip (he says it's with all the pogues not just Kie, but i can absolutely ignore that), a surfboard for every day of the week, a new dirt bike, a marble statue of himself, an upgraded version of Topper's Malibu, a pet monkey, matching pogue jet skis, a $24K blunt, a private island, and private security to knock out any kooks that get too close to him

Pope likes collecting antique electronics because trying to repair them allows him to see the engineering on the inside. Aside from the retro 90's camcorder (RIP), he's collected a vintage iPod, a Gameboy (Tetris is his favorite game), and a Polaroid camera. He found the Gameboy when Kie dragged him to a thrift store on the mainland a few summers back

Sarah

Pre-canon times when Rafe has been a piece of shit: he stole money from Ward and blamed it on Sarah, he killed a spider for Sarah but then left the dead carcass on her pillow, he ripped apart Sarah's dollhouse and decapitated the dolls, during a game of hide-and-seek, he locked Sarah in the cellar for 3 hours and told Rose that she had ran away, he hid his weed in Wheezie's room, AND he creeped on Kie (very vague very ew) during sleepovers

Ward was going to give Sarah his old car, but Rafe went for a joyride with Kelce and totaled it, so Ward used the insurance payout to lease Sarah a brand new car instead

Wheezie DEFINITELY had a crush on Topper. Sarah recounts a time when Wheezie had hidden in her car to try to sneak into a movie night. When Sarah caught her, she let her stick around for the date, and she sat between Sarah and Topper, blushing the whole time (ew girl raise your standards)

Ward didn't let Sarah host parties at Tannyhill, but her kook friends often let her host at their houses when their parents were on vacation. Sarah Cameron parties quickly became legendary on Figure 8

Sarah volunteered at the Kildare Humane Society, and German shepard-golden retriever mixes are her favorite breed (isn't that what Milo is?? more breaking the fourth wall i see you). She's also volunteered at the Shady Acres Nursing Home, the Kildare County Youth Arts Center, and the South Creek Food Pantry

Sarah mentions how Scarlett's "sleepovers" were code for parties, and that they were always wild (i'm only mentioning this because i really wanna see Scarlett in season 3 if we're getting Kook Academy stuff)

JJ worked as a caddy at the golf club 2 summers before the show starts, and since management were dicks to him, he and John B snuck onto the course and drew dicks in the sand traps

Topper is apparently very obsessive about working out

Sarah and Kie made a friendship bracelet together (i have no other details besides that, trust me i wish i did)

There's more confirmation that Kie has a hidden dolphin tattoo, but no hints as to where it is

Thank you so much @wayhavenots for the tag <3 This was fun to do and think of (although it took me some time lol) I'm tagging anyone who sees this and hasn't done it :)

Favorite OC: I really don't like playing favourites and it usually depends on the IF i'm obsessed with at the moment buuut i'll have to say Roxane Becker from "Fallen Hero". She's just... everything to me!! Newest OC: I read "Softly, Opulent" last week so my MC Camellia. She's still a baby and absolutely not developed but i already have a soft spot for her. The IF looks promising btw and i can't wait for more! Oldest OC: Kiara Kingston. She's from the very first IF i played Crème de la Crème but i unconsciously reused her for TWC. Granted, she was kinda different back then: different last name and personality (in a way). This is like the first and only time i reused an OC. Meanest OC: Even tho i have some OCs that are basically villains and/or who can be very mean, i still think my meanest OC is Ruby Lin (Body Count), just because she tends to be mean for the sake of it, which is not usually the case for the others. Softest OC: I'd say Ophelia Wiseman. She's just too sweet and nice (to a fault sometimes). I see Camellia taking her spot in the future, but as i said above, she's still not developed. Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: My MC for "Swan Song" Daliah. She's the least emotional and most detached of my OCs, who i usually love making really emotional lol Dumbest (Affectionate) OC: I feel like my dumbest OCs are the impulsive ones. I'll have to give that crown to one of my newest OCs Aine from "Defiled Hearts". She's way too impulsive and reckless... Also, falling in love with the man who killed your family?? How stupid can you be??. Smartest OC: Um... i think i won't be able to answer this one because there's a bunch tbh. Turning to face the voice oddly close to my ear, I was met with one of the most beautiful men I’d ever laid my eyes on. He was tall, had dark, curly hair that you may mistake for black but when the lights hit it just right it was a very dark brown. His skin was a tanned sort of brown, like Kiara’s complexion but darker. He was dressed simply but it complimented him just oh-so well — a dark t-shirt and jeans with chain around his neck and rings adorned his fingers.

His posture was radiating confidence as he leaned half of his frame on the bar, one arm on the counter and the other laid next to his side. He must’ve noticed my lack of response because a grin broke out on his face before he was chuckling lowly, head dipping down slightly. “I’m Chase.”

I’m so sorry that these have taken me so long to get to! I know things have changed in the months that I have been gone, but I hope you are able to enjoy this anyway! (Here is a bit of an explanation of where I’ve been)

Title: Simple Days Paring: Felix and Kiara (@/night-triumphantt’s detective) Words: 1.1k Notes: Set sometime after B3 Prompt: “Are you wearing my shirt?” You mean our shirt?” 

The early morning sun had appeared hours ago, it having to already be midday by the time that Kiara had woken up. For someone who normally needed multiple alarms in order to wake up in the morning, it was a massive blessing to be able to have the day off.

               She would not have minded spending longer in bed, but she and Felix had made plans to meet up at the warehouse this afternoon. To do what, she was not sure. It seemed to be suggested that they would figure that out when the time came.

               Not that she minded that much. Because if she was being honest to herself, they could end up just hanging around the warehouse all evening and she would be perfectly okay with that. Because really, it hardly mattered much with that they did.

               What really mattered was just being able to be there with him.

               And a plus side of being able to sleep in was that she actually felt more awake and refreshed then she normally did the morning, a massive shame that was not able to do this more often due to the pull of adult responsibilities.

               While she was getting dressed as she normally did, deciding not to change her style much from how she normally did, the skinny jeans and a t-shirt with plenty of jewelry, her eyes had gone to one of Felix’s jackets that was laid on top of the chair in her room.

               Whether the jacket was left or stolen, well, Kiara would neither confirm or deny, but one thing that she could deny was just how nice it was to be able to wear her boyfriend’s clothes at all. Like a piece of him that was there even when he was not.

               Smiling, she put it on, allowing her curly black hair to spill over her back as she did so, it slighter larger than her normal jackets, but cozy, nonetheless. Grabbing her keys and her phone, she made her way out of her apartment, leaving the bright colored walls behind.

               Her eyes blinked as they got used to the summer light, different then the light that had been streaming through the windows. But even still, there was a sense of peace, Wayhaven finally able to get the chance to go back to normal, and hopefully for longer this time.

               As she made her way to her car, she pulled out her phone to check the messages that she had missed while she was gone from the land of the awake, and sure enough, Felix had.

Felix: Can’t wait to see you today! ❤❤

               Kiara could not stop the grin that went across her face at the sight, nor would she ever really want it to, immediately going to write a response.

               Kiara: Heading over there now!

               With a new sense of urgency, she went straight to her car, and started to slowly pull out and start to make her way to the warehouse, the brightness still not ever having left her face.

               Around twenty minutes later, she had finally arrived at the warehouse, the somewhat dismal sight that she had grown used to, at least from outside appearances. The anticipation had been building during the entire drive, and it only gotten to the height of its tension now.

               And what Kiara could not decide what she expected it or not, Felix was also outside, perking up as she pulled in and starting to almost run towards her as she got out of the car.

               She met him in a tight hug, his head going to rest on her shoulder as she pulled him closer, chuckling slightly, “Hello to you too”

               He laughs as well, moving his head back a bit so he could look at her, his amber eyes gleaming in the sunlight, “Sorry. It’s really good to see you”

               “Nothing to be sorry about”, she says almost immediately in response, standing on her tiptoes to place a kiss on his temple, “I’m sure not complaining”

               Felix grins in response, his eyes started to clock the jacket, which causes him to start laughing again, “Babe, is that my jacket?”                “Don’t you mean, our jacket?”, she teases, pulling her shoulders back as in a way of showing it off without moving his arms from around her, “I’m pretty sure that’s a part of dating me”

               In response, he moves closer, almost whispering in her ear, “Then it will be a part that I take wholeheartedly”, before he moves back with a wink, “And you also look way better than I do in it”

               She laughs, giving him something akin to a smirk, “Don’t sell yourself short.                With a grin, Felix moves to take her hand, his beaming smile indictive that this was role he was perfectly find with happening, starting to lead her inside with a sense of hurry to it.

               All that Kiara could do was laugh and follow him, allowing herself to take in every single moment of this. Work would come eventually, and if something again happened like with the maa-alused or Sin, there would be even less time than before.

               But for now, this was all that she wanted to think about, and be able to take the picture of and keep as a memory for later.

Phishing/SMishing

One of the most common types of scams out there, phishing occurs when a hacker tries to get people to give over their information, usually credit card information or login, willingly. They do this by creating emails and other messages meant to look like those sent by legitimate sites, mainly ones with which you have an account.

For example, you might get an email that looks like it’s from Netflix telling you there’s a problem with your account and to enter your credit card information to avoid cancellation. If this is indeed fake, you’ve just handed over this sensitive data to someone you don’t know and can’t trust.

SMishing is the same tactic except the hackers use text messages instead of email.

To stay safe from phishing attempts, get your teen to do the following:

I’m curious guys: if the R.O of your detective(s) didn’t exist, who would they fall for/go for in UB instead? (i feel like the LT detectives are obvious lol)

I’m not sure if i’m making sense or not but i’m giving an example of my detectives under the cut. 

Lena (M) would go for Nate who is her actual bestfriend in my M playthrough lol I can see them matching well, and out of the other UB members he’s the one i can see her fall for, had M not existed. 

Kiara (A) would go for Mason (her bestfriend). They actually do share things in common so i can see them working well together as a couple, but not sure if they’d last. Still, he’s the one she’d go for if there was no Adam. 

Gina (N) wouldn’t go for anyone. I really can’t see her liking anyone else in UB romantically. 

Bella (F) is the same as Gina. She’s not even really interested in dating and she wouldn’t fall for anyone else in UB.
