So this is from the Resurrection Canon, where my Clef interpretation is heavily pulled from and formed around. It has by far one of the most human versions of the man, it gave him flaws and quirks that people seem insistent to ignore. Especially when it comes to the way that he cares!!

Anyways, that specific passage is from Yesterday, a tale in which the work has entered a XK End of the world scenario. Where the O5s initiate usage of SCP-2000 aka The Bloom to reset the world, resetting everything that has ever happened in hopes that perhaps next time they would catch the end of the world before it was too late.

The catch?

Theres a list of things that must be done before the Bloom is willing to activate.

Usually its people of importance being killed off, IE: the people important enough who may be able to stop the activation of the Bloom in some way, shape, or form. So what better way to ensure everyone dies than sent the man who is known for killing gods?

They give Clef a list, turns out its all Foundation personnel. Why? The O5s have already killed off all the other people, they were waiting for last minute to get the important people who may be able to avoid death if it were anyone but Clef.

So he sets off, killing his close friends. Some get a sentence, some get paragraphs, Kondraki gets a whole ass homoromantic tension to his second death that just hits in a way you never knew you needed. Hell, we even get to see how he interacted with Gears and Kain and how he held them closer to his heart due to him actively mourning their deaths in a matter of few words.

So yes, Bright dies, Kondraki dies, Gears dies, Glass dies, all of our favorites? They die, because the Bloom has deemed them important enough to interrupt the reactivation.

The real kicker?

Clef is on the list too, he just doesn’t realize it until hes chained and a Princess Bride reference is thrown his way.

There are so many other small details in this tale I didn’t touch on in this synopsis, like how we see the O5s directly hold Meri over his head (if not this tale then it’s Contingency which is another amazing tale in this canon). How reality is anchored around him, how people are scared of him to try and hide in magic.

And how he outsmarts and outplays every, single, one.

He is an intelligent fucker and people forget that, he has to be smart to have so many type greens dead under his name. That he is a strategist by heart, and a killer by name. Yet he is so full of remorse and love that it hurts to read through all 277 tales seeing as people love to throw him into their “k” class scenario tales to kill him off seeing as hes supposed to be this intimidating unkillable figure.

Hes not unkillable, not by any means. He’s just a desperate father, a man who would kill his closest friends if it helped ensure her safety. If that doesn’t tell you anything about who Alto H Clef is, I dont know what does.

I was questioning why almost every scp scientist is dead and so I'm looking up how they all died and it's like

"Clef orchestrated Glass' death by having a mentally unwell agent murder him."

"(Dr jack bright was) killed by Clef launching SCP-963 into the Sun"

"Dr. Clef killed Dr. Kondraki during a conflict"

Etc

I swear to God did most of the research staff get murdered by Dr clef??

More SCP Brainrot featuring Charles Gears:

Gears' inability to show emotion is equal parts Nature and Nurture. With his rumored parentage setting him up with a limited understanding and safe place to show emotions, his traumatic childhood/life, dangerous job, dealing with death constantly he keeps an iron clad facade of being emotionless.

A lower level researcher, or multiple people, had also probably mentioned how Gears being so brave and unflappable gave them comfort during breaches and now he really can't break. What kind of leader would he be if he didn't make his subordinates feel safe?

There's a difference between not being able to show emotions and not feeling emotion. And Gears feels emotions rather strongly. He has sympathy for the Safe human anomalies. He quietly mourns those lost to the dangerous anomalies, and find some comfort in the antics of men like Alto Clef, and Elias Shaw. Even if it does end up with more paperwork.

He has art from SCP-590 hanging up in his office. A little bit of sunshine in a gloomy profession

He keeps an eye on his daughter and always gets very tense when he hears members of the serpents hand have been killed. And he always, ALWAYS, goes to see the bodies to make sure Alison isn't there

He admires the hell out of Doctor Simon Glass. The psychiatrist still has a good heart and open despite the horror of the SCP Foundation. He hopes Glass doesn't lose that.
