Kill Joy By Holly Jackson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: Pippa Fitz-Amobi is not in the mood for her friend's murder mystery party. Especially one that involves 1920's fancy dress and pretending that their town, Little Kilton, is an island called Joy. But when the game begins, Pip finds herself drawn into the make-believe world of intrigue, deception and murder.

Review and Rant:
I really don't have much to say about this book. I really liked it. I liked how we got to see why Pip choose to do that case. And it's really attention-grabbing. Anyways, the book is a short novella with a total of 12 chapters. So it's a quick read.
Also, this book takes place before the series started so sadly you won't be getting any Pip and Ravi moments sadly. But except that it's a pretty awesome book and I would give it a 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. The book is also bittersweet I just wanted to add that because if you read the whole entire series then you would know why it's bittersweet.
Anyways there's not much to say about the book.

Holly Jackson
This isn't HP related but I wanted to share this!
If you don't know who Holly Jackson, she is a author who has six books out right now. She is my favorite book writer! She is most famous for her series called "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" and you should definitely check that out if you like murder mysteries with a hint of romance. Also the prequel she released last year or two years ago.
Anyways, I have a copy of all her books and two weeks ago she released her newest, "The Reapperance of Rachel Price".
This book was so good. I finally had time to sit down and not laze around to read it (its been on my bookshelf for two weeks...) I also timed myself reading it (idk why) and it took me three hours, so it's pretty short. I don't want to spoil anything but the twist was good. I thought it was a little obvious as she started to build it up more and more but at the same time I was suprised. There is romance in the book but it's not in the way or the main focus either.
Her writing is something that I find very simple yet intriguing. Her other book that I read during the summer, "The Five Survive" had me hooked. I think it's very hard for authors that have a famous series to take off after releasing a different type of story (not really, her stories are under the category: Murder Mystery ...I think). I like the characters that she developed and just thought I should share :)
Also she's releasing a show based on "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" in July of this year! The actress Emma Meyers, who played Enid in the other show "Wednesday" is playing the main character, Pip. I am super excited and cannot wait for this to come to America.
Anyways thanks for reading!!

Kill Joy 13-06-2024
Hi everyone!!!
I just finished reading this book, and I think this was a great novella set in the Good Girls Guide to Murder series. I love how playing this game is where it all starts, and how the story comes full circle.
This is a fun quick read. A prequel novella to the AGGGTM series. The group of friends get together for a murder mystery game. A great story, with just the right amount of tension and twists I’d come to expect from reading the trilogy.
I loved the AGGGTM book trilogy and I'm dying for the TV series. The author, Holly Jackson, is awesome, and I would definitely recommend this book series.

just started reading Kill Joy (prequel to agggtm) and so far I think Conner is very much like me. Yes please my dear friends come to my party in unnecessary outfits and act like you live in the 1920’s, (and solve a murder) thank you. Also shout out to Zach, I’ve always thought he was cool, glad there’s more of him
