Grandma’s stories exploring the forbidden forest always amaze Paula. I wish I could go on an adventure of my life in a place like that. Paula never really had the chance to get out of her house most of the time since she came from an immigrant family and they aren’t living in a Filipino community. People often bullied her and her sister because they live in this white majority gated community. That often left Paula in her own world. In a world where magic, time travel existed.

She always talked about her friend Lucille and how she fell in love with the same man Lucille treasured. The love of her life. Paula listened to her attentively. She is always curious about Lucille, the woman the Jongin fell in love with. When her grandma died at the age of 100, she left her with a box. It had a framed picture of Lucille and the said Jongin in the mansion, she was wearing a white gown and he was wearing a suit and tie. They really looked like a married couple, which they were. She wished her grandma had someone else. - That’s how she got here in the first place. That is why she walked and explored it. She wants to see it.

Grandma was the one who adopted Lucille’s son with Jongin. Her uncle Delfin. “I still remember vivid memories of running with Delfin as we got out of Chalamaria. Delfin was very small at that time.” Stella told Paula.

Ah… The polluted air of Manila. It has been a while since I saw Manila. I live in the US now. Manila is a big place, yet I don’t remember it being like this. - Maybe it’s jet lag that’s making her think that way. She held tightly on my luggage. Waiting for a taxi to get me to the bus station. Her parents refused to come with her. When the taxi arrived, it was a long ride from the airport to the hotel. She opened her phone and listened to music. Ah… She always loved the music of the 50s.

When she arrived at the bus station, she doesn’t where she’s going. She got inside the bus. She opened her phone and listened to music again. She grabbed her wallet and she smiled as she was holding her grandma’s wedding picture. She can see the woman’s smile on the picture. The bus ride was longer than the taxi. Yet it gave her rest. When she sees the lush agricultural area of her country.

When the excruciatingly long bus ride was over, she immediately had a sigh of relief as she held her small luggage with her backpack. “Where is the town of Chalamaria?” She asked the people around the nearby town. “Ask the elders. Haven’t heard that name since.” The college student said. She walked more into the town. She asked more people around. People around the nearby village always told her that the enchanted forest was a dangerous place that no one should go to. - Let alone a young and untested eighteen-year-old. She couldn't care less. She just wants this Jongin to fill in the cracks in their beautiful love story. She has so many questions unanswered by my grandmother. Anxiety started rushing in her veins. Then, only one woman came in to answer her.

“Hello?” She asked an elderly woman. The woman seemed to not hear her and continued on stirring her ube halaya. - A Filipino jam made out of purple yam, milk, and sugar. The smell is very familiar as her grandma used to make it for her. The thing definitely smelled like sweet childhood memories.

“Hello?!” She said it one more time, louder. “Yes, darling?” The woman replied. “Do you know where Chalamaria is?” She asked the lady. The woman smiled bitterly, it looked like a bad memory went to her. “Yes. According to legends, Chalamaria is a town that existed 70 years ago. It was burnt by the Japanese. Everything was gone except the ruins of the big mansion. It’s filled with monsters. Nobody wants to ever go there.” She didn’t care. Those aren’t real. - She assured herself.

The old woman continued speaking. “Women are not allowed to enter that area.” She said to Paula. “Why?” Paula was beyond curious about why she’d say that or the fact Chalamaria doesn’t exist on google maps at all. Any map she sees, no results. Sometimes she feels her grandma is lying to her. But, there is a historical text of the said town.

“I’d still go.” She said to the elder. The elder was shocked to hear what she said. "What is she thinking?" The old woman mumbled and went back to stirring her halaya. “Young people these days…” “I never saw someone as determined as her. Well, maybe this will be the last time I will see her.”

"Why?" She asked the woman. She was stopped in her tracks. "If you're a virgin, it's a bigger warning. Virgin young girls never make it alive. We even call it the virgin paradise. Because of the virgins that never leave.” The old lady continued. When she heard of that, Paula’s heart raced even more. Knowing her grandma survived Chalamaria, she can as well. Her grandma was the only virgin who did not die on the island.

“Minseok knew that Lucille doesn’t love him.” Grandma always said. She feels pity for my grandfather, but at the same time, I feel sad for my grandma who never met her lover again. It was a pity for grandma to know they were never destined to each other.

“Before I met Junmyeon, I met a man named Kim Jongin. He was handsome, he’s a Korean man living in our country during the Japanese occupation. I was with Lucille. She fell in love with him the first sight.” The story was as old as time as I would say. She always held onto her memories. Many say Jongin is dead, but she never believed it. It still can't wrap around her head why a stupid man like Jongin would leave her grandma.

“He was incredibly handsome. Even as old as I am, I still vividly remember his beautifully sculpted form, his kissable lips, golden complexion, his irresistible charm, everything about him. He’s probably dead by now. I never went back to the forest where I found him… old age as well as he never wanted me to go back.” She always tells her. Gosh, she can be an erotica writer just by the way she describes him. It's such a pity I never got to meet this man. - Paula thought.

As Lucille died, and in accordance with Stella’s wishes, she told Paula to go back to the mansion and wear the wedding dress while doing so. - Well, that's why Paula is walking in the forest in a white 40's wedding dress while wearing her grandma's pearl necklace. Given by Jongin to Stella. She truly looked like her grandma. She was just as beautiful as the former was. "The wedding dress was the dress Stella wore before letting him go. It was the dress." That was from her grandma’s words.

Her grandma never had enough time to tell her the whole story. Why did Jongin also give her things if Lucille was his true love? Why is grandma thinking of him like that if they’re only friends? There are many burning questions in Paula’s head. The story has so many holes. So many unanswered questions she wants answers. And what better way to hear that than hearing it from the man himself.

Then, that's why she packed her bags and decided over a three day Journey. Rain or shine, she walked through it all. She was always reminded by Grandma's warnings. "Do not take a picture of the house." She is literally going on a journey to nowhere. This place is closed by the government. Nobody knew of this place's existence.

As she started walking, she saw something. A ruined sign with rust and termite. “Welcome to Chalamaria.” She read the sign as she touched each letter. A faint smile appeared in her face. She furrowed her brows and opened the rusted golden gate. The town is filled with ruins. - Oh, so that’s Chalamaria, an early 1900s luxury town. - She thought to herself. She walked passed all the mansions and she saw a graffiti that said “BURN THE RICH” the graffiti seems old.

I want to see if this Jongin is still alive. I can feel he still is even if I never met him. It’s not a jump of blood because I am not related to him. Then, while walking in the vast and beautiful landscapes, I saw something. Is this it? Is this his house? I saw the house was rotten, it looked like ruins. It has aged through time, so I took a picture of the house, admiring the beauty it has.

Even if it was old. She did that, disregarding her grandma's advice. She was curious. She looked closer at it and saw an old skeleton wearing a suit and slacks with blood like the one in the old photo her grandma told her to treasure. Is this the Jongin? She knew he'd be dead but not in this horrific way. Jongin died 80 years ago. The day Lucille got married to him. Looking at the skull, the man was hit with a missile or a bomb of some sort.

Suddenly the clouds started pushing back, like a rewind at a super-fast rate. It felt like someone was pressing the switch multiple times over and over again. The skull wearing a suit just magically disappeared. She looked at her watch and it started suddenly pushing back time. She started looking at the surroundings "What the fuck is going on?" She asked herself as the skies suddenly go back and the house almost started repairing itself. Maybe this is why her grandma always told her not to get a picture of that house. She saw her phone not being able to open.

It looked like a flipbook right in front of her eyes. She never thought she'd ever see something as beautiful as this one ever in her lifetime. She can't believe that the stories her grandmother told is true. The story that got her grandma labeled as crazy from the day she went back to the village as she started telling everyone. Everyone believed Jongin wasn't real, in fact, he is. Right here and there.

Maybe this is why no one wants to go to the enchanted forest. - She thought to herself as she slowly walked. Holding firm to her backpack, she suddenly felt something was off as she saw a gated mansion. Her grandma told many great stories about this mansion. Her adventures with Lucille. She looked at her phone about that mansion. It was supposed to be rotten, filled with leaves and it was supposed to be old. - But the mansion in front of her looked new. It looked exactly like in the pictures but new.

She decided to open the golden gate and give it a knock. “Is there anyone here?” She asked nicely. Then suddenly, someone opened the door. She was shocked to see him. A man wearing a tailored suit, looking at his Rolex. He had a beautiful golden tan complexion. He has very soft and kissable lips, beautiful almond eyes. Is he Jongin or this is a fucking joke? He's supposed to be dead by now. What the hell? - She thought to herself.

Pairing : Junmyeon x Becky (my friend Admin B from @noona-clock !)

Words : 2k

Genre : Fluff, Hogwarts!Au, a little bit of angst

Summary : They do say stereotypes have a part of truth in them, and when it comes to the smart, nerdy, bookworm Ravenclaw and the brave, athletic, witty Gryffindor, it seems that this part of truth lies in Becky, Junmyeon and the cheesy crush they have for each other but will never admit. Or will they ?

Message for Admin B : It’s been a while since I’ve shared my work to anyone at all, but when Admin T came to me and asked me to do something for your birthday Becky, it was with great pleasure that I accepted. I honestly don’t remember being more motivated and enthusiastic for a fic than with this one ! Waiting a whole week for you to read this was absolute torture, and I low key forced a few of my mutuals to read some parts to have feedback because I wanted everything to be perfect. I truly hope you’ll like this. I wish you an amazing Birthday and year, you’ve been such a good friend to me B (you and T !) “Password ?”

“What ?”

“I asked for the password you have to say for me to let you pass.” The portrait of an old, bearded man in front of Becky replied with an annoyed tone. “Don’t you know how it works ?”

The Ravenclaw frowned. The secret passages she’d use to arrive on time for her classes never required a password before, and she sure as hell wasn’t going to deal with Sprout’s wrath would she be late because of the stubbornness of a portrait.

“I’ve been using secret passages for seven years. How come are you the only one enforcing a password to cross yours ?”

“Because I decided so.”

Great. Becky thought while rolling her eyes as she tried to think of a way to pass.

After a minute that felt like an eternity of the girl’s dark eyes glaring at the portrait’s painted ones, the old man sighed, having seemingly gave up trying to get out winner of this situation.

“Are you going to stand here all morning ?” He asked, this time fear more present in his tone than irritation.

"Well that depends..maybe you could make an exception for me ?” Becky asked while doing what she hoped would look like puppy eyes. “It’s my birthday and I really, really, don’t want to start the day with a detention. Pretty please ?”

The portrait stayed silent for a few seconds, visibly weighing his limited options.

“Very well, very well.” He finally said, defeated. “Normally I would obviously have refused you access to my passage but as it’s your birthday...maybe I could give you a present for the occasion.”

“Look that’s nice but I really don’t have the ti-”

“Pumpkin Pastry. Happy birthday.”

Becky couldn’t help but carry a smile of content as she realized what the portrait meant and thanked him.

“Don’t mention it.”

“Sweets as passwords, though ?” She said sarcastically, crossing the passage’s entrance. “Isn’t that Professor Dumbledore’s thing ?”

“He stole it from me.”

Becky loved using secret passages. Yes, of course, it’d provide her with a quick and efficient way to move around the castle, but mostly she’d use them to be in her own world for a few minutes, or a few hours would she sit in the middle of the dark yet warm corridors to finish a book. And the best thing was, whereas wherever she’d be or whatever she’d touch in the gigantic castle had been someone else’s before - even her own bed - these long passages were that one thing that she and only she owned.

It’s not that she didn’t have friends or anything. Actually, Becky was well-liked amongst all Houses combined. Ambitious, loyal, friendly and smart, it seemed like the Ravenclaw was the best student and friend you could ask for. But that was the heart of the problem. Her problem. One might think that being this “perfect” brought the perfect life along, but truth was all it truly brought was the unbearable pressure of always hiding behind a flawless facade, leading Becky to need a break from the rest of the world pretty often.

Although her joyful aura was appreciated by many, there were still students at Hogwarts that rather preferred picking on the young wizard to see it finally break. Sometimes, they did succeed, but she’d never cry in front of them and instead would opt for hiding in a secret passage until the tears would stop falling.

And when Becky thought about who these bullies were, it truly didn’t surprise her that most of them were Gryffindors. Not because in that House necessarily lied meaner people, but because it was in that House that belonged Kim Junmyeon.

Ugh.

Only thinking about him made her want to throw up.

When she saw him sit on that small wooden stool, waiting to be sorted and nervously playing with his fingers when they were only 12 and had been in Hogwarts for no more than 15 minutes, her young and inexperienced heart had ridiculously missed a beat.

That was before he’d actually open his mouth.

Nowadays the Ravenclaw prefect saw Junmyeon as he truly was : the Gryffindor troublemaker. Always late in class, always with his tie undone - Becky had to admit it was kinda sexy, but nobody needed to know that - always picking on her and calling her “Becca” or “Becs” or anything that wasn’t what she liked to be called as...

The young girl shook her head. Trying to forget about all that, as after all it was the point of using these secret passages, she focused on the feeling of her fingers sliding against the cold stone walls when she was walking until, by turning a corner, she was stopped short by a jet-haired boy in front of her she recognized way too well.

His doe-brown eyes widen as they met hers, both of their faces distorted in horror.

“Jun-Junmyeon ?” Becky stammered with bulging eyes. “What the hell are you doing here ?”

“Becca ?!” He said, visibly just as shocked but also suspiciously uncomfortable and out of breath, as if he had been caught rather than surprised. “I...huh didn’t see you there. What’s up ?”

“I've told you a thousand time it’s Becky.” She stuttered trying not to look at the boy’s unsurprisingly undone tie and messy hair but only ending up turning red. “And you didn’t answer my question...”

“Why are you blushing ?” Junmyeon asked, quirking an eyebrow arrogantly as he knew so well how to.

“Just tell me what you’re doing here !”

The Gryffindor didn’t answer right away, and Becky could swear he was up to no good though investigating the mess he’d done 10 minutes before class wasn’t what she had in mind.

“I’m not sure that concerns you, princess.” He simply said, and Becky prayed she didn’t turn even more red at the nickname, internally confused at why it was suddenly so hot in the confined space.

“I’m a Prefect, so yes whatever you’re up to does concern me.” She tried to reply as sharply as possible. “However, I’m late for class and you’re definitely not on my priority list right now, so I’ll deal with you later.” And with that she passed him by, heading to the passage’s exit.

“Not your priority, huh ?” Junmyeon inquired as he followed her lead. “I’m hurt.”

“Just leave me alone, Junmyeon ! I already had to fight my way in here with a portrait, I don’t want to fight my way out with you.”

“Why are you acting all high and mighty suddenly ?” He continued, obviously having other plans in mind than respecting the boundaries the Ravenclaw was desperately trying to set. “I know you can be fun, Minseok hyung told me you’re always the one making people laugh in your common room.”

“Didn’t know Minseok was in your group of bullies.” Becky said, her mind racing at the thought of her friend telling Junmyeon about what she was like.

The back of the tapestry that hid the passage’s exit was now only a few feet in front of the two teens and, without even waiting for an answer to her comment, she accelerated her pace to finally get out of what seemed to be hell.

“I thought I told you to leave me alone !” Becky hurled, looking behind her shoulder at Junmyeon who’d seem to keep following her once outside the passage.

When she finally saw him stop in his tracks, the Ravenclaw satisfyingly turned around to look in front on her until she was stopped herself by noticing that the tall and imposant figure of her transfiguration professor was standing in the middle of the corridor, her green eyes staring at them both with reprobation and discontent.

“So this really isn’t my day, huh.” The prefect couldn’t help but say out loud.

“Professor McGonagall, Rebecca has nothing to do with this.” Junmyeon said, stepping forward next to Becky who, confused, was trying to silently ask the boy what he could possibly be talking about.

“Please, spare me your excuses, Mr. Kim.” The woman said firmly, her piercing gaze almost magically forcing the teens to stay quiet. “It is very noble of you to try to defend your classmate, but I am sorry to tell you that both of you, along with the other students that helped perpetrate this prank, will be forced to attend detention tonight in the Forbidden Forest.”

“What ?!”

“Yes, professor...”

“You must be kidding me.” Was the only thing Becky could manage to add as she watched McGonagall quietly turning a corner of the corridor and disappearing. “For Merlin’s sake, please tell me this is a dream.”

“Becca...”

“Pinch me. You have to pinch me cause I need to wake up I swear this can’t-”

“Bec stop !”

“No YOU stop !” Becky almost shouted to the point where the Gryffindor took a few steps away from her. “Minerva McGonagall just sent me to the Forbidden Forest on my birthday because YOU fucked up as you always do !”

The girl took a deep breath and didn’t speak for a few minutes, merely acknowledging Junmyeon who hadn’t moved an inch.

“So, see you tonight, right ? Can’t wait for the birthday party to start.” She finally said and with that she was stormed off without another word.

“Where are the others ?”

“They already went in, I waited for you.” Junmyeon answered quietly as they walked towards the dark forest, noticing how Becky’s dull eyes didn’t even bother looking at him when she sarcastically snapped back “too kind.”

When Becky was sarcastic, it was never good. Junmyeon knew that well. It was her way of protecting herself from him, from others.

How she’d act when he’d put a lock of hair behind her ear for her on purpose. What she’d do when he’d stare at her just a bit too long as she’d blame her cheeks getting red on her being angry instead of shy.

The teenagers both had a warm cloak over their uniforms, the Gryffindors eyes shining under the light of the Ravenclaw’s wand. The boy was trying to find a way of making conversation, but before he could say a word he was cut by his counterpart who was visibly feeling uncomfortable by the deafening silence too.

“Do you ever comb your hair ?” She asked and Junmyeon was taken aback by the weirdness of the question.

“I don’t know...I never really bothered, why ?”

“It’s been 5 years and it seems everyday is your bad hair day.”

“Oh, so you noticed that ?” He teased as Becky’s cheeks unsurprisingly started getting red.

She didn’t answer and instead looked away, embarrassed that someone now knew how, when she’d drift away and stop listening in class, it was him she’d observe.

Why did Junmyeon always had to make her uncomfortable ? She hated that. She hated him.

You started it. Becky thought only to curse herself for thinking that.

“What are you thinking about ?”

The girl stopped in her tracks, turning her head to look at Junmyeon who had spoken up and found herself destabilized by the way he was deeply staring at her.

“That this night sucks.” She muttered, trying to keep her composure by crossing her arms.

“No it doesn’t.” The boy softly said but shut up as Becky shushed him. “What is it ?”

“I heard a noise...”

“It’s probably just the wind.”

“Or a wild, big and hungry animal.”

Junmyeon rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“Whatever.” He chuckled, a smirk on his lips as he quicken his pace.

“Hey ! Don’t you dare leave me behind Kim Junmyeon or my ghost will haunt your ass !”

The boy slowed down but kept smiling at the thought of Becky opening up to him, being funny around him and, just, being herself.

Wasn’t it little steps that mattered most ?

“I’m serious though ! This is by far the worst way to celebrate a bir-” Becky tried to add but was cut off by the forest around her illuminating suddenly as all she heard was Lumos !.

With her mouth slightly opened, she saw garlands light up in the branches of the old trees of the forest. Minseok, Yixing, Irene, her best friend Seulgi and even Junmyeon’s own best friend Chanyeol were all there, holding a cake in the air with their wands and smiling at her.

“Jun...Junmyeon ?” She stammered, looking at the boy who had the brightest smile of them all.

“Happy Birthday Becs.”

For a few seconds no sounds would come out of Becky’s mouth. Until all she could ask was “Was that...your idea ?”

“It was.” Chanyeol answered for his friend with a wink. “And he owes me 5 galleons for helping making the cake.” He continued, but a simple glare from his friends told him to shut up.

“So...are we going to eat that cake or not ?” Yixing asked, and in that moment Junmyeon regretted he didn’t plan something without his guy friends.

“How about you start eating and the birthday girl joins you in a few minutes, yeah ?” He proposed, and everyone seemed to understand what he meant.

Everyone except Becky who couldn’t remember being more confused in the entirety of her life.

“I-I don’t understand.” She said, looking at the Gryffindor in desperation for an answer.

“Look, I don’t want to sound cheesy here, but I...I really like you, Becca. I wanted to show it to you tonight, with this birthday party in the woods and witg professor McGonagall’s help as..I know I haven’t always been able to do so properly before.”

“Yeah...that’s an understatement.” Becky murmured, letting out a sigh. “I’ve had a crush on you ever since I watched you during the Sorting Ceremony and...Merlin this is embarrassing.”

Junmyeon laughed warmly, embracing the young girl who stood stoic in his arms, unable to move from the shock of how her day went on.

“This is crazy.” She said, feeling weak, but was shut up by the chaste kiss that the boy put on her lips.

“Was that alright ?” He asked nervously, and Becky could swear the last time she had seen him this nervous had been 5 years ago when he sat on that wooden stool.

“It was perfect.”

“I meant if it was okay for me to kiss you, but I’ll take that too.”

It was the Ravenclaw’s time to laugh, and taking the boy by his loose tie, she pulled him against her to kiss him again.

“Huh Becky ?” Seulgi called. “Not to ruin the moment, but there are people...watching this.”

“Not in a thousand years would I have believed professor Trelawney had she told me this day would be real.” Becky softly said to the boy who was now inches from her face.

“Happy Birthday, princess.”

The Wizarding World of EXO [Chapter 2: Kim Junmyeon and the Forbidden Forest]

Summary: Welcome to the Wizarding World, ten years after the Second Wizarding War. Now, nine students at Hogwarts each have their own story to tell, secrets to discover and identities to grow.

“Seriously,” Kim Junmyeon lets out an exasperated sigh, hands on his hips disapprovingly. “This is—like, what?—the fifth time I caught you using magic in the hallways.”

She flashes him the most innocent smile, batting her eyelashes as she clasps her hands in front of her. Here we go again. “What? It wasn’t me! Didn’t you see, uh, Karen just now?”

Junmyeon rolls his eyes, knowing her lies very well now. “Ten points from Slytherin.”

She huffs, throwing her hair over her shoulder and crossing her arms like a child. “Fine, I don’t really care anyways.”

Junmyeon frowns, eyes narrowing. “Why do you keep doing this? It it fun? You know, we have rules for a reason.”

She rolls her eyes, reaching out to toy with his red and gold pin. “I wouldn’t expect you to understand, Mr. Prefect. Rules are boring.”

She flashes him a coy smile, wiggling her fingers before disappearing down the hall. Junmyeon shakes his head, exhausted. There’s no way he can stay sane if he has to continue dealing with that girl.

He begins to make his way to his next class, spotting a familiar face. “Baekhyun!”

“Hey.” The younger male greets with his signature grin, hair yet another color and surrounded by a group of people—again. “Heading to class?”

Byun Baekhyun, Gryffindor sixth year, is absolutely a people’s person, always in the center of attention. He’s filled with mischief, and Junmyeon is pretty sure he would have been able to fit in with the Marauders perfectly. Strange how Junmyeon and Baekhyun, who are so different, ended up being such close friends.

“Yes.” Junmyeon raises a brow. “Which you should be doing too.”

Baekhyun lets out a suspicious laugh, almost sheepish and Junmyeon internally groans. “Don’t make me put you in detention, Baek. Because I will—”

Out of the corner of his eye, he sees something fly past. He turns towards the thing with a frown, watching it land on the floor and snarl. “Not again.” He makes his way to the offending Fanged Frisbee, which is still snapping its fangs, picking it up and turning to the owner with a scowl. “Detention.”

Her eyes are wide, having been caught red-handed. A whine leaves her lips, “But—”

“Detention.” He repeats icily. “After class, you’re going to clean the halls. Without magic.”

Her jaw falls open, horror flashing across her face. “You can’t—”

“Actually,” Junmyeon cuts her off smoothly, face smug as he taps his pin. “I can. See you later.”

Her face flushes red, perhaps from anger, but Junmyeon feels too triumphant to care. In all honesty, he should’ve put her in detention a long time ago, but was always too generous.

His potions teacher is surprised when he walks into class, because he has the biggest shit-eating grin on his face.

Junmyeon taps his foot impatiently as he waits in the halls. It’s okay, he reassures himself, class just ended. She could be running a little late, trying to drag this out for as long as possible.

But when he looks out the window of the third floor, he sees her there, walking away from the building. And not just away, but towards somewhere she is definitely not supposed to go. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Without thinking, Junmyeon rushes down the hall—making sure not to fall off the Grand Staircase—and out the building. He races after her, slightly relieved when he sees her silhouette up ahead. “Wait!”

She turns, gasping at him and begins to run. Junmyeon grounds his teeth, pushing himself to go faster. Oh no she doesn’t.

He pulls out his wand from his pocket, pointing it at her and yelling, “Alarte Ascendare!”

“Whoa!” She wobbles, as she’s lifted into the air, only to quickly fall back down with a pained yelp. “Ow, that really hurt!”

Junmyeon slides his wand back, gazing down at her with a disapproving frown. “Well maybe you shouldn’t have gone to the Forbidden Forest, which is—by the way—forbidden!”

She growls at him, pushing herself off the ground and dusting herself off. “You’re so annoying, you know that?”

“And I suppose you’re not.” Junmyeon crosses his arms, raising a brow at her. “Ever thought that—I don’t know—disobeying the rules and giving me twice as much work is annoying?”

She sticks her tongue out at him before turning on her heels and marching forward.

“Hey!” Junmyeon calls. “Hogwarts is that way.”

“Then go that way!” She yells back. “I’m going in.”

They’re already at the edge of the forest, and as she goes deeper, it becomes harder to keep her in sight. Junmyeon sinks his teeth into his bottom lip, glancing back at Hogwarts before sighing. He just can’t let her go in there alone. “Wait up!”

He jogs over to join her, earning an annoyed glare. “Thought you were too good to be in the Forbidden Forest, Mr. Prefect.”

He scowls back, returning her glare. “Well, I’d rather not get in trouble if they find your corpse. Now let’s take a quick turn, satisfy your burning curiosity, and go back.”

She merely rolls her eyes at him, showing no signs of heading back. Junmyeon grumbles under his breath as he looks around, practically expecting danger to jump out at them.

It’s hard to navigate the forest, with the trees blocking out the sunlight and raised roots or stumps all over the ground. It’ll be a miracle if he gets back to Hogwarts without breaking an ankle.

“Wait.”

He almost bumps into her, who is standing rigid in front of him. He asks, annoyed, “What?”

“Spiders.” She squeaks out, taking a step back, grabbing onto his arm and squeezing hard.

Junmyeon winces, shoving her with his elbow. “Ow!”

“Sorry.” Her voice is unusually quiet, and even in the dim lighting he can tell she’s pale.

Junmyeon cracks a grin. “What, are you scared of spiders? Aren’t you a Slytherin?”

“What does being a Slytherin have anything to do with being scared of spiders?” She demands, looking offended.

Junmyeon merely chuckles. “Snakes eat spiders, don’t they?”

She rolls her eyes, but Junmyeon continues to laugh. She slaps his arm, earning another yelp. “Anyways, they’re forming a trail. It seems like they’re leading to somewhere.”

“I thought you were scared of spiders.” Junmyeon frowns, not tempted at all to follow a trail of spiders into the Forbidden Forest. Definitely a warning sign for danger.

“Well, yes.” She begins to pull him along. “But that doesn’t mean I’m not down for an adventure.”

“Adventure?” Junmyeon echoes with disbelief. “You mean suicide, right?”

“Come on.” Is all she says as she pulls him deeper into the forest, following the trail of spiders.

It’s almost too dark to see now, and so they both take out their wands, whispering, “Lumos.”

He wish he didn’t do that, though. Wish he never followed the spider’s trail and wished he never went into the Forbidden Forest to begin with.

Because all around him are spiders.

Giant ones.

He had heard stories about how the Arcomantulas were forced out of their home by Death Eaters during the finale of the Second Wizarding War, but they probably came back after the war was over.

Junmyeon can feel her hands around his arm, nails digging into his skin and quite possibly drawing blood. From the light of their wands, her face is almost ghostly pale, her lips pursed into a tight line perhaps to stop herself from screaming.

“Ok,” Junmyeon whispers low under his breath so—hopefully—only she can hear. “We’re going to walk backwards very, very slowly.”

She gives him the tiniest nod of her head, and together they begin to walk backwards carefully.

There’s a low grumbling from around them that almost sounds like laughing. Junmyeon swallows thickly, knowing nothing good will come out of this.

“Humans.” It seems to hum. “Haven’t seen one in a while.”

“Yes, after we tried to eat those at the school.”

Another spider groans at that. “Ah, we lost so many.”

“It’s alright,” the spiders begin to close in, “we’ll avenge them by eating these two.”

“Crap.” Junmyeon chokes out, taking another step back.

“Are you lost, hm?” The spiders ask teasingly, and Junmyeon gulps.

“Um, yes.” He manages to flash a smile. “We got lost and—”

“Oh, that’s too bad.” The spider speaks again, it’s eight beady eyes trained on them. “I guess you won’t ever find the right way out.”

The spiders move at lightning speed, their eight long legs carrying them much faster than the two legs of a human. The two of them break out running, Junmyeon ducking to narrowly avoid a spider that launched itself at them.

“I should’ve dragged you back by force!” Junmyeon cries as he swerves sideways to avoid another spider. “Look what you got us into!”

“Nag later, would you!” She screams back, grabbing her wand and yelling, “Stupefy!”

One spider trips on the one she stunned, but they’re too fast and too many are gaining on them.

“We’re going to be eaten by spiders!” Junmyeon yells back. “And it’s your fault!”

A spider lands in front of him, it’s pincers snapping forward and missing his head as he ducks by millimeters.

“Stupefy!” Junmyeon cries in the nick of time to stun the spider, it’s pincers right in front of his face. A second later and his head would’ve been gone.

“Junmyeon!” He snaps his head towards her voice, seeing her backing away from four spiders who have her cornered. She points at a large tree nearby with her wand, “Descendo!”

It crunches and snaps as it falls downwards, crushing a few spiders and creating a perfect path away from the colony. Junmyeon rushes up the thick trunk, well aware that the spiders are right behind him. Glancing back for just a moment, Junmyeon points at her with his wand, yelling, “Wingardium Leviosa!”

She’s propelled into the air just as the spiders lunges, ending up getting tangled and bumping into each other. Junmyeon runs up the trunk, hopping down and motioning his wand in order to move her away from the spiders and land next to him.

“Quick thinking.” She praises as they break off into a run again, much farther away from the spiders now.

“You too.” Junmyeon grins at her, never having felt so terrified yet so exhilarated in his life.

A little farther and they’re back at the edge of Hogwarts. The spiders have stopped chasing, perhaps realizing they’re not worth it. The professors at Hogwarts would probably too much of a pain to deal with.

Junmyeon gasps, collapsing onto his hands and knees once they’re safe. He’s practically shaking from all that running, adrenaline still pumping in his veins. She falls next to him, equally as out of breath. Her cheeks are rosy from the run, but there’s a giant grin on her face.

Strangely, Junmyeon can’t stop the grin from appearing on his face either, and she bursts out laughing as she rolls over on the grass. “Wow! That was amazing!”

“Amazing?” Junmyeon lies down on his back, letting out a few fit of giggles as well. “You mean terrifying.”

“Yes, but amazing.” She turns to beam at him, and oddly Junmyeon thinks she’s never been more pretty than her sweaty, messy appearance at the moment. “We make a good team, you know.”

Junmyeon huffs. “Maybe you should be in Gryffindor instead. You sure got a lot of bravery.”

“Yeah, yeah.” She pushes herself into a sitting position, still with that goofy smile on her face. Junmyeon follows, breathing finally slowing down a little. “We should do that again!”

“You mean go into the Forbidden Forest, follow a trail of spiders and narrowly escape being eaten by said spiders?” He wrinkles his nose. “No way.”

“Okay, I admit it was a bit too much.” She says. “But I mean adventures. Let’s go on more adventures!”

Junmyeon would’ve said no. Should’ve said no. If she had asked him perhaps an hour prior, he would’ve definitely, absolutely said no. But now he finds himself answer, “Yeah, sure.”

Her eyes crinkle as she smiles again, and to his surprise, leans in to press a quick kiss against his cheek. “I’ll see you soon then.”

Junmyeon blinks, touching his cheek where she kissed him and grins. Wow. He supposes some rules are worth breaking, and for the right person.

“Ahem.”

Junmyeon jumps, feeling a chill go down his spine as he looks up, and not at all liking the sight.

Professor McGonagall stares down with him with narrowed eyes and arms crossed. “Was that you coming from the Forbidden Forest, Mr. Kim?”

“I, uh,” he gulps, hurrying to stand and hanging his head in shame. “…Yes. I’m sorry, Professor.”

“Detention.” She turns and heads back to the building, with Junmyeon following meekly behind. “And it seems like you’ll be seeing her sooner than you thought.”
