An anonymous watercolor commission of Pokémon Adventures / Pokémon Special Sapphire going on an undersea Pokémon hunt with her Relicanth. I love watercolor for underwater scenes partly because it's thematically appropriate, mostly because I can just get all sloppy and blotchy and say it's an underwater texture 😂 I'm really happy with how the colors came out.

I gor more Poke redesigns!! Some more favorable than others!!

Emboar- Leaned more onto the Barbarian Pig design instead of the other way they were leading us. Still could use tweaking but im happy with the concept!!

Sneasler - More of a Search and Rescue than the original! The Ribbon on their head flares when they re trying to get someones attention. Fluffier for warmth, and the angled bottom claws to keep balance when clinging to cliffsides!

Golurk- less of a Redesign and more of a Variant! Fire/Ground, after a Volcano erupted hundreds of tbousands of years ago in Alola. Fueled by their urge to protect the huamns, the Golurk abandoned their ghost typing to outfit the lava around them, making them into the Fire/Ground type you see here.

Krabby/Kingler: this one was just to make them less real life crabs and more crab-pokemon! I love them dearly X3

Bruxish: a friend pointed out that they were most likely based on the humuhumunukunukuapua'a but i leaned away from that and went more Betta fish, cutting down on the Yellow and to make it a less blaring look!

At last, the fully inked version of the comic commission based on this illustration!

This comic is based on the manga series Pokémon Adventures, also known by its Japanese name Pokémon Special, so the trainer here is Sapphire (in case you were wondering why "May" is so angry and has fangs XD )

This was a fun one to work on, since I got to go all-out with action choreography (even if it was difficult figuring out how a crab and a fish would move) and play around with inking techniques and speed lines...so many speed lines...

This was a commission comic (info on commissions can be found here), and after the initial draft of the comic was finished, the customer wanted to add some more scenes that would have interrupted the flow of the action. We compromised on doing the extra scenes as bonus pages, which you can find under the Read More:

These pages take place between 7 and 8 above, after Sapphire and Relicanth hide behind the rock wall, and before they make said rock wall explode:
