Alisson is slowly but surely creeping up to level 7 and the ability to wear medium armor. This is more likely for Act 2, but I wanted to draw it now.

journal entry 01
a welcoming feast, and our intrepid hero meets her adventuring party.
The call for heroes came from Aldori manor. Lady Jamandi Aldori held a grand welcoming feast, alongside Restov’s Lord-Mayor Iosef Sellumis. Lady Jamandi and the Lord-Mayor are offering charters for baronies in the Stolen Lands—presumably in exchange for some service, though we haven’t been given the details as of yet. It seems Lady Jamandi intends to outline the specific terms tomorrow in a series of meetings.
The Stolen lands have never stayed settled by anything more organized than tiny cults and gangs of bandits—the reputation for danger both mundane and magical is legendary—but it’s a bounty of natural resources. If I could take a position of leadership in a barony, with the resources of the Stolen Lands and the support of Brevoy’s government…land, supplies, political influence and soldiers—I could offer all of them to the Knights remaining in Lastwall as part of an alliance. And the Knights could offer their experience to the new barony in turn; we were the ones who settled and fortified the wild lands around the Gallowspire, and I would say no nation is more experienced in raising and protecting new settlements.
Of course I was hardly the only person to show interest in the offer. The banquet was very well-attended by a number of adventurers—
The Iron Wraiths were present—I’ve heard of their time in Ustalav hunting undead
Gwynarawn—Kyonin ambassador—laid on the charm too thick
Maegar Varn—third son of a Brevic noble house, seeking glory since he has no hope of inheriting—nice lad, seems capable
Valerie—Brevic knight, possibly from noble family—exceptionally well-mannered—experienced combat veteran
Stronghorn? Headstrong? surely not his real name—some sort of monster hunter from Vudra—incredibly rude
Sun—another Vudran adventurer—young monastic pilgrim—very cheery and social
Athos—minotaur—elementalist? possibly a refugee
Amiri—warrior from the Realm of the Mammoth Lords—unmannered, no patience for court politics, but an experienced survivalist
There were others I didn’t get the chance to speak with, but I heard there was a cleric of Groetus among the attendees, along with a pair of obnoxiously loud bards.
Lady Jamandi is lodging us in groups; I’ve been bunked with the ambassador, the monster hunter, the minotaur, and the monk, as well as a leshy by the name of Orpheus and a cleric (not the Groetan, I think) named Soma. I can’t say I’m thrilled to be rooming with the monster hunter; he’s diminutive but too nosy for his own good…not to pun on his horn.
Jamandi recommended an early night and I’m inclined to agree. Tomorrow is likely to be challenging enough without exhaustion to contend with. Hopefully my new compatriots won’t be too hungover.

bg3 is crazy for being a massive $70 larian + wotc collab game whose accessibility menu features subtitles that are present for less than half of all idle character dialogue and almost zero battle dialogue
#succ speaks#not to be the 'paizo wouldn't let this happen' guy but god this is actually insane#like why even have an accessibility menu at that point? i'd rather watch a youtube video with automatic captions#same energy as devs complaining that everyone was making their pcs a white human guy in early access while they had no asian human options#like bro i just want to know what bestie karlach is saying but if u make her mumble with no captions even tho i have subtitles on#tf am i supposed to do.....🤨😡😭💀#baldur's gate 3 is fun but this is pissing me off. like i'm prob not gonna keep playing this solo & only play online with friends#it's fun but. not fun enough to mimic the actual wacky bullshit i do with charisma rogues and bards in dnd or pf#i think i'm also used to having real humans around for ttrpg antics and dynamic character interactions so bg3 feels bland in comparison lol#also because irl i can ask people to repeat what they just said 🙃🙃🙃#joining the mob by accident was admittedly funnier in bg3 than it was in dnd though considering i stumbled into the base out of nowhere#i guess it just falls under ny philosophy that dnd is most fun when wotc has zero actual say in what happens and what we can do 👍#however as much as pf > dnd...bg3 > kingmaker. i think pathfinder is just to true of a ttrpg to adapt into a video game super well#like. the writing in wotr was WAY better than bg3 but still sometimes bad enough to be infuriating ESPECIALLY in regards to iomedae#but the weird ass iomedae stuff is also true in the adventure path itself and plenty of other people have complained about it#but hey at least in wotr the subtitles told me what she was saying every time she spoke 👍#wotr was still rly fun tho no hate to the game in general this is a quick slam of being pissed at bg3 again 🙏🙏

Now that I've finally cleaned the dust of out of my PC, I can start doing my "canon" Kingmaker run.
Tumblr media
Meet Ainsel, the Definitely Human (mechanically musetouched aasimar, but lorewise babyswapped fey) future ruler of the Stolen Lands. They became a traveling mercenary after leaving their hometown in the River Kingdoms (under less-than-ideal circumstances) due to their magical prowess and desire to avoid putting down any sort of roots, which somehow resulted in them getting the opportunity to establish a Barony.
For my personal fun and as a resource for potential future fic-writing, I'm making a "journal" of sorts here of the most notable things that happen in each in-game day.
Day 0 and 1: 13 and 14 Gozran 4710
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since they are from the River Kingdoms, Ainsel doesn't really see much difference between a bandit lord and any other type of lord. In fact, they're slightly insulted by Aldori's claim that she can't negotiate "with bandit gangs and monster hordes," because they feel it's a very reminiscent of the way outsiders view the non-Stolen Lands River Kingdoms. Also, they're defined as a monster by a lot of definitions! Fortunately, they are an expert at Not Giving A Shit. They also do not trust that people's stated intentions are their actual intentions, but they're used to it to the point that, if the stakes weren't quite so high, they probably would not comment on it at all to Aldori.
Tumblr media
Not much to comment on here other than that Linzi is a lesbian :). And that Ainsel, despite not being an Amazing person, genuinely wants to prevent death when possible, since they have a fairly freedom-based worldview and, in their mind, death can be the antithesis of freedom, because the dead person will never be able to make choices again (at least, not in Golarion).
Tumblr media
Ainsel is making an :3 face internally for this bit. Get dunked on Tartuccio!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ainsel, internally: Cool cool cool I don't have any issues with being distrusted and viewed as a potential pretender. Everything is fine.
Edit: I changed Ainsel’s name to Liesel

Somewhat amused by the way the cast of major NPCs in my Kingmaker 2e campaign has slowly but surely become overwhelmingly female. Who holds authority and has the power to confer it? Jamandi and Nyrissa. Who moves the story forward? Linzi. Who shelters the party and connects them with resources? Svetlana and Tiressia. Who shields them and supports them in battle? Valerie. Even the religious party members offer their prayers to goddesses, and Milani is the single most important deity in our campaign thanks to the champion. The only non-female character the party regularly interacts with is Tristian, somehow.

🍃 Leonelle?
🍃 FALLING LEAF - do they enjoy being in nature? what is their favourite outdoor activity?
Absolutely not. She's a city girl through and through and the Stolen Lands is a fucking nightmare for her. Besides, fire and greenery doesn't tend to go well together. Her favourite outdoor activity is going indoors very occasionally hunting for sport, but rarely does she partake unless she is either hosting a visiting dignitary or trying to find out some specific gossip for herself.

CRPG study
I have an interest in making a CRPG of my own setting. First, one set in the past, and then maybe one set in the present. (The present of the setting, it's not like modern earth). But in the interest of making a GOOD game, I'm going to play and talk about a bunch of other CRPGs. I'm starting with Pathfinder Kingmaker, because the reviews seem very mixed on Steam. Rather than play the "good one" first, I'll play the first one, and then point out the design changes as I play the second. People were talking about how difficult the combat is, and when I was getting started, I didn't know if it was just a skill issue, or if they were falling for the classic blunder of setting the game to "hard" without being ready for it. (I've done that myself a few times.)
--
This game IS hard in the beginning, so far. Most of the encounters it's throwing my way feels like I should be a level or two higher, but that might be because I progressed the main story rather than chase a gnome around.

It does amuse me to no end to know that amongst the player characters in Linette’s game... she’s the only one not actually of noble or wealthy heritage. The summoner scholar comes from a position of nobility in the horror-themed country of Ustalav, the gunslinger marshal is the daughter of a Taldorian duke and was entirely wrapped up in their imperialist mindset,  the fighter diplomat is from a noble family found in the fight-happy lands next door to hers... and the cleric judge belongs to the god of merchants, she’s been fed with a golden spoon all her life.
And yet, for some reason, all four of them unanimously decided that the little runaway sorcerer found in the middle of the horrible bandit-filled no-man’s land - the youngest and least experienced of the entire group - is the best fit for the role of founding and running a nation out of said bandit land.
And apparently they were right.
Trying to found a nation in a bandit-filled hellhole that hates how literally every other nation operates? Put someone in charge who understands why they think that way, and let THEM sort the place out. Might be a headache for the rest of the world to deal with this mess they’ve just made more organized... but hey. The place is.... kind of more civilized now. Kind of.

Pathfinder kingmaker make s pc freeze

I logged another char, relogged to Hogar, and was falling through the sky. Enter World, loading textures, crash, iirc. I doubt that it is the spec itself, a and any enthusiast CPU made in the last 4 years should run the game just fine.īut after Update 8, i couldn't load my char Hogar anymore. Can the computer run other high performance software OK? Column flutter This might be a bit more difficult for someone that is computer literate, it requires formatting a USB drive and booting from it, but it is definitely manageable for someone capable of following instructions. If you get a crash doing that, you know that it is probably GPU. If you get a crash doing that, you know that it is probably CPU. If a full client reinstall doesn't work, I would go into hardware troubleshooting. That it is a software crash, rather than a BSOD, makes me think that it is probably not a hardware fault. How much System RAM? If it's 4GB, that might be the problem, especially if he's got anything else running. Anyone else experiencing this behavior? Any suggestions for how to trouble shoot this? It's a brand new system, fresh Win7 install, all updates run, nice new card with updated drivers from NVidia, and the only other things installed are Windows Security Essentials and Steam. I'm a little hamstrung in trying to help him, in that I'm remote, but since he's not the saviest computer guy I'm going to have to. One of my CC members can't play the game-on a Win7 system, after patching, and then logging in to hit "Enter World" after the textures and what-not loads, he crashes to desktop with no error message.

...In a dark, misty forest you were found by a tall, intimidating figure wearing a mask of an unknown animal with horns. When she approached you and noticed your uneasiness, she took off her mask and reached out her hand to you.
“ Don't fear the impenetrable mists and the dangers in them, for Erastil and Gozreh are with you.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ulfen woman, druid-feyspeaker from north of Brevoy, Mist. Neutral Good. She also has a big bear named Bjorn as her pet!
I've been dying for this portrait for a week. My Game Master allowed me to take any race and appearance, so why not express my love for the Scandinavian theme and lore? Next is a lot of text, you can just look through the arts ;D Like I said, she's not an aasimar. She's a Ganzi. Her lineage is related to the Valkyries. Every Ganzi must have an interesting appearance, and I thought a lot about how to portray her, eventually coming up with the simple idea of adding wings and feathers to her face.
She was originally supposed to be a witch, but looking at our company, I decided to change classes.
The “duality” of her appearance was inspired by the goddess of the dead, Hel. It's pretty interesting, considering she's from a clan where everyone died for some unknown reason and now there are constantly aggressive living dead walking around the village. A sketch of her design:
Tumblr media
She has an unrelated younger brother she found as a teenager while hunting near mounds and graves. She took him in and raised him according to the traditions of her clan. His name is Inigmar, he looks like a tiefling but is actually a Duskwalker. He's supposed to remember his past life, but it happened late enough. A little bit of my sketches from work:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before, Mist looked like a black-haired, green-eyed woman, but because of her bloodline, she underwent a painful change. This is what they looks like at the moment and together with his sister from my best friend! (Sorry, couldn't find a better quality)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here they are together, heh 💙
Mist will do her best to make Inigmar a baron and then king! 😤
Maybe I should try replaying the PC “Pathfinder: Kingmaker” with her for fun?
