James and Kinkade Headcannons

They do not hide their relationship, like at all. But nobody other than the rest of their team knows they're dating because they don't like PDA all that much

Although you'll see them plastered together on the couch watching reruns of old sitcoms like the young and the restless and days of our lives

Kinkade is very quiet about their whole relationship thing but if someone asks he'll get all flustered and then everyone just knows.

James and Keith's weird rivalry amuses Kinkade to no end, just because it's barely a rivalry on either part but everyone keeps calling it a rivalry.

That one time Kinkade had a really bad flu and James was nursing him back to health and losing his mind because oh my god why is he talking so much about garden gnomes

After James finds out Kinkade's mom used to have a huge garden with all these weird little ceramic gnomes and he named every single one as a kid and they always remind him of home

They've switched partners on missions so many times to be together that Iverson has just started pairing them up because fuck it they work well together

James can read Kinkade like a book, he's so finely tuned to his boyfriend's emotions that if Kinkade chooses a different yogurt flavour than normal James is like he stubbed his toe this morning he needs something sweet and the rest of the team is so weirded out by it

Maybe I'll do more, idk.

“I’m really- Fuck dude, I’m sorry,” Lance stutters, backing away from a concerned looking Kinkade with hands out in front of him defensively, “I should’ve- I guess I should’ve actually checked if you had a boyfriend, I mean, how dumb am I?”

“It’s fine,” Kinkade replies, and Lance wants to scream at the smoothness and lack of stress in his voice compared to Lance’s babbling mess, “you weren’t to know, me and James aren’t exactly-“

“I know, I know, you don’t need to repeat it,” Lance urges, and before Kinkade can grab his arm, he slides out of the way, back into the body of Atlas to cry over the pillow and drown his sorrows in the gross recycled water.

Hopefully, no one will disturb him.

And the MFE’s? They also think he’s annoying (because they keep teasing him and picking on him etc.) And when they find out he bullied Keith, they became angry.

Except they don’t. But James doesn’t know that. And they don’t know James thinks that.

It's Post-Voltron Deprivation.

My friend asked me why I have pics of Linkade on my blog since they've never actually communicated, but who cares because CAN YOU IMAGINE:

• Observant Kinkade quietly noticing Lance's passion and dedication during missions since they're both snipers

• Lance goading Kinkade to a little competitions of marksmanship during stagnant parts of the mission because he is starting to get visibly worried since his role of this mission is over

• Kinkade grunts as if displeased...but shoots a small rock from 2 miles away and raises an eyebrow at Lance

• Lance fires back with a shit-eating grin because, oh, game on

• Kinkade is more consistant, but Lance hits the riskier shots, so they both start trying to learn from each other

• Lance being slightly insecure as he watches how talented Kinkade is

• Kinkade notices and, after Lance manages to take out several practice drones, offers a small, "Nice shot" with a twitch if the lips

• Lance pauses, then sends him a wink, but inside? He freaking BEAMS

• Because of Lance's amazing miracle shots and Kinkade's precision, they are the ultimate snipe team

• And when Lance is on the field, you best believe Kinkade is secretly watching him like a hawk because like hell will anyone get to him on his watch

• And don't think Lance didn't create nicknames to pass the time

• Or the numerous one-side conversations from Lance with Kinkade offering grunts and "hn"s every once in a while, but still attentively listens and reflects on their conversations because, wow, Lance is actually really smart

• The paladins and MFE pilots are doing a mission recap and Lance cracks a joke. Everyone is too busy rolling their eyes and/or laughing to see Kinkade's small smile

• Kinkade notices Lance's "rivalry" with Keith, and Keith is suddenly wondering why this silent MFE pilot is low-key glaring at him

• James is wondering what's up because has Kinkade seemed more...laid back?

• Meanwhile Lance is telling a story to everybody about his family and has everyone cracking up

• Kinkade actually chuckles aloud and Lance chokes for a second because holy fuck that laugh was beautiful

• Pidge and Hunk are side-eyeing Kinkade because their Lance senses are tingling and how can they not notice the fondness in Kinkade's eyes as he watches Lance's enthusiastic story telling

• And both are just emotionally-challenged idiots who are too scared to confess because of their utter fear of rejection

• While all the other paladins and MTE pilots eventually catch on and start dropping the other's name while talking to them just to see Lance perk up before laughing it off, or Kinkade blush faintly or glance away as he gives a clipped reply about how Lance is just a valued pilot and fighter

So yeah, don't think my multi-shipping ass would be sleeping on this beauty of a ship
