I'm writing something for my Avian Au and right now... It's just history of what happened to the Avians. I've got links to two different websites in the doc I'm writing in.

I... hate writing research stuff. This is mostly stuff that is important for the fics, a base for me to reference easily, but it's... I'm using skills I learned in school to better plan out the history behind Avians.

I was supposed to write maybe two or three Jason Todd centric fics for my Redwing AU, but guess what?

I've got a fic that focuses on Dick and his daughter, and I'm writing one that focuses on Roy and his feelings and shit. I have ideas for other fics from earlier, from before Jason got stuck in the MHA universe, and I haven't written them down, but I just know that they'll make Redwing and its sequel even more heartbreaking.

On another note, I don't think that So Long (To The Kid I Used To Know) is going to be as long as I had initially thought. It would be far more interesting to finish it at about chapter 18 or something like that, and then start a third fic that's Jason centric and then have that one explore what happens next? Idk, I've removed the tags that say that there's going to be more stuff happening in SL, so that I can take more time to decide and not lead people on while I think about it.

I honestly like the idea of exploring other people's perspectives in this series. I started to write the Dick centric fic because I wanted to explore the idea of him being a dad while being depressed, and now I'm writing the Roy centric one because I'm curious about his POV.

Idk though, I'll think about it more and let you guys know what I decide later.

I have this notebook that I've been using to plan out details of fics and my writing in general, and I love it so much.

It's not lined, so I don't feel the need to actually write whole sentences. I simply wrote 'cries' when I was outlining a chapter because I could. It's got a bunch of birthdays for characters and so many notes on random things. It's perfect.

I really really really don't know who to ask and I'm new to AO3😢😥😥 Is commenting too much awkward??? I'm socially inadept and interacting with people online gives me an overload of anxiety and recently I've found this fic and fell super deep in love with it and commented massive messages on each chapter. The author replied to me at the beginning but recently they just stopped (hi I understand it's not the author's job to reply and they're likely busy with their life too) but I can't help but be kind of worried that I somehow had put them off (because my comments sometimes involves analyzations and if I get into something too much I can be too excessive) I plead for advice is this normal???

while I can only speak for myself, I as a writer absolutely LOVE it when people give me long comments (the longer, the better lol) and, for me personally, there’s no such thing as too many comments.

love love love love these long comments, they help motivate me, especially when my readers give me deep analysis on the characters and/or their actions.

Update: I'm not going to do long fics with multiple chapters for this AU unless it calls for it, tbh. I'll so something similar to my Voltron AU, where there's a lot of stories tied in together but they aren't written in chronological order, but I'll probably keep track of which stories are where in the timeline. There'll probably be a master list for the timeline on here that I'll edit as I add to the AU.

I will start from the same place as the long fic I started to write anyway, since I know where I was hoping to go with that.

If I like a headcaonnon enough, then I'll adopt it as my own. One of these headcannons is that the Bats act less human than they really are.

They are human! It's just that adopting mannerisms of the actual animals helps them keep their civilian identities away from their vigilante ones. And it's not much, not really.

It started with Dick. Kids have a tendency to stare at things the younger they are. Eight year old Dick Grayson thought that staring at the crooks and tilting his head was perfect for catching people off-guard. He found that cackling added to the effect, and he really did find it funny how these adults with scars and tattoos and such would scream like little girls and stumble right to Bruce. Dick managed to perfect this so that he acts like a real bird while in his suit, flying through the sky and being a blur of color that cackled at thugs pain.

Head tilts just a little too bird-like. Whistles and chirps to call out to Bruce without anyone knowing what was being said. A call sign for checking in as Dick got older and started to patrol areas on his own.

Bruce saw the usefulness in Dick chirping like a bird. He worked with Dick to create a language based on bat and bird sounds, and it's a small portion of why they work so well together.

Jason picked up on it. The head tilts, the chirps and whistles that Bruce made sure were distinctly different from Dick's calls. A way to tell which of his chaotic little shits he was calling out to.

Babs also picked up on it. She wasn't one of Bruce's kids, but she learned to be more bat-like and how to call out to the others, just in case.

Each bat kid has their own call, their own bird. Cass chose to use the sounds of a young bat calling to it's parent or others around it. Most of the Robin's have sounds that are similar yet different.

There's one thing that's true through Gotham. The sound of Batman's kids laughing echoing through the streets like some disembodied voice from a horror movie isn't something to be scared of. Their laughter said that they were in good moods.

It was the chirps, the narrow eyed, birdish head tilts, the sound of birds in the dark of night, that you had to look out for.

I've been reading The Hunger Games, and I fear I have a new obsession.

I've only read the first book and most of Catching Fire though, but I'm honestly in love with it WHY DIDNT I READ IT SOONER?!?!
