Kirby Final Bosses #7: Gryll | Game: Kirby’s Star Stacker (Super Famicon) (1999) (< Prev) | (Next >)
One of the lesser known spin-off final bosses, mostly owed to Gryll's sudden appearance directly at the end of the Japanese-exclusive SNES version of Kirby's Star Stacker. Despite this, Gryll's managed to scrape by with a couple scattered cameos from time to time. Good for Gryll.

Hi hello I promise I'm not dead, time to share a super cool thing with tumblr!

My friend Belle mailed me a copy of Puyo Puyo for the Famicom as an early birthday present! I also fixed my SNES (as in yoinking out two tiny pieces of plastic with needle nose pliers in order to make it region free) so now I can play it :)
Yes I will be trying to get a copy of Puyo Tsu when I get the money! I'm also going to try to secure Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Avalanche and Kirby's Super Star Stacker!

Finale! Sort of. There is more to draw after this but it's uh. I guess it's a surprise! Unless you played Star Stacker SNES.
Dedede is such a turd for this whole thing honestly like its not just abt him shooting a random guy out of the sky anymore it's like. Kirby and Mr. Star TOLD him that Mr. Star split into several pieces after being shot n needs his final piece back (Dedede has it), and Dedede said NO! He was NOT gonna give them that star piece without fighting for it!! He coulda ruined Mr. Star's life cuz he felt like being stubborn lmao???? That's Dedede for you, I guess.
I think thsi is the last time Kirby and Mr. Star see each other tbh-- they're friends but Mr. Star travels across space and never stays in one place very long, I think he just drops by planets to observe them (and this time was only different cuz Dedede shot him like a BITCH LOL). Though, I imagine after all of this has passed he still thinks of Kirby, Rick, Kine, and Coo as he travels through space years later.

Kirby no Kirakira Kids/Kirby's Star Stacker (1998, SNES)
This is a very cute puzzle game, and I really hope this gets a sequel with improved rules and more playable characters someday! Meta Knight and Dedede were a pain to beat, but I did it!!

First Impressions Reviews of the new Nintendo Classics Games
Gradius the Interstellar Assault (GB, 10 Minutes):
It sure is a Gameboy version of an Arcade shooter. It's pretty slow, flickery and ghosty. I never really liked Gradius, but I did enjoy the Autofire option if only to protect my controller and joints. I had a decent amount of fun, but didn't really get to see anything interesting

Killer Instinct Gold (N64, 30 Minutes):
Obviously 30 minutes are not enough to get a good hold on a fighting game, but I played a little bit of the arcade mode, I felt the gameplay was slow, and it took me a while to even find a few special moves beyond simple quarter circle inputs. I'd probably be okay with this game if I got more time with it

Kirby's Star Stacker (GB, 10 Minutes):
This is one of my favorite ever puzzle games, it's super fun to build puyo-puyo style combos, and the controls are buttery smooth, more so than Gameboy Tetris. I would seriously recommend you play either the Gameboy or SNES version of this game, they are both on Nintendo Classics.

Survival Kids (GB, 10 Minutes):
I ate a strange mushroom, took poison damage all day, fought some bees, and then spent several ingame hours hunting a single rabbit, and when I tried to make a fire starter, I accidentally made a baseball bat and then starved to death, 10/10 experience.

The Sword of Hope (GB, 10 Minutes): This is an mid-80's style PC RPG, which I would normally be super down for. However, it seems like no effort has been made to translate the game into its portable format. For example, moving between screens requires selecting which direction to go in a menu, rather than using the D-Pad. I obviously did not have a chance to experience much of the combat besides a few fights against basic enemies, so I couldn't tell you about the game's deeper mechanics. I would say the lack of foresight in the basic controls does not bode well for the overall experience of playing the game.

Four More Games To NES, SNES, And Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online
It was not that long ago that Nintendo added Excitebike 64 to the Nintendo Switch Online service, and now they have announced more new additions to the service. Nintendo has now added four more games to Nintendo Switch Online, three of which have never been released outside of Japan before. The games are Quest for Camelot (Game Boy Color), Kirby’s Star Stacker (SNES), Joy Mech Fight (NES), and…

forgotten kirby facts 108 - kirby star stacker/super star stacker/kirakira kids was announced overseas through nintendos official website, but never saw any updates beyond that, this might possibly be related to the game ending up being released through a japan exclusive service known as "nintendo power", only receiving a physical release the next year (1999), the same year the super nintendo was discontinued overseas.
