when i vent about how shipping culture and romance in media has led to aspec discrimination and a corrosion of friendship in real life some people respond to it with "well you're aspec and dislike to ship however i'm allo and it's a part of me to like shipping" they literally miss my point. i don't dislike ships. i have a few ships myself. it's completely valid to enjoy these aspects as a personal preference. i dislike shipping CULTURE and the insistence that everything must be romantic/sexual.

amanormativity is the reason why friendships in real life are treated as inherently lesser than a romantic relationship. it's why people get made fun of for being virgins when everyone should just mind their damn business. and it reflects hard in the fandom preference for everything ship-related and pushing aside anything else. also saying it's inherently allo to ship sounds really fucking amanormative to me but what can i say

Underutilized character dynamic

My favorite way to write Saria and Silence's dynamic is by showing that Saria is the one who misses Silence the most

Saria is someone who is pretty cold and strict, and she doesn't understand emotions, due to the way she was raised. But that's when she met Silence and Ifrit that she discovered this new feeling that is to love and to feel loved, genuinely. That she misses being with them is showing that she's actually craving this feeling of love and being loved, because never she felt it when she was a child - she never knew what it was, to have a family. But despite it, she doesn't come back to their side for two reasons; to respect Silence's wish, and because she doesn't feel ready to (mentioned in one of her voice lines). She doesn't feel ready because she feels like she failed to stop Kristen and it is her responsibility to stop Rhine Lab, she can't allow herself to be happy when her childhood friend is making plenty of people suffer for science's sake. So as long as Rhine Lab isn't stopped, Saria will not be ready to ask to be forgiven to Silence and Ifrit.

And of course, to external's point of views, and Silence's mostly, it looks like Saria doesn't care about them, that she doesn't miss being with them, because she lets no emotion appear on her face.

To me, showing that Silence is missing Saria is pretty wrong, because I think that on the contrary, she tries to not. Maybe a little part of her does, but if the thought would come to mind, she would chase it off. She used to be pretty naive and very emotional, and it's what led her to be abused, mostly by Parvis who used her trust in him. That's what made her "close" her feelings, and she tries to not show any more weakness to anyone. And especially not Saria, not because she hates her, but because she's scared of being hurt again, and see the ones she cares about being hurt. But something she doesn't realize, or at least try to deny, is that she needs Saria. Silence has been overworking herself a lot, her anxiety worsening, and none of the people close to her can truly help her, because either they are not aware of what truly happened in Rhine Lab with Ifrit (Mayer, Magallan), either because she sees them as her responsibility and would never ask them for help (Ifrit, Ptilopsis). Saria is simply what she needs the most because she knows what happened, as she was here, and because she's strong enough for Silence to not see her as someone in need of help.

But either way, Silence will continue to deny it because she's too afraid to trust again, and is not aware the slightest of what's on Saria's heart.

there’s literally so little rep of us anywhere ever and a character rejecting marriage is commonly a shorthand for showing their lack of interest in romantic/sexual affairs (especially sexual since it’s a teen game without talk of those subjects) (and because as much as the dev team loves wrightworth they’re never making it canon) so i’m attacking these crumbs pleaseeeeee PLEASEEEEEEEE
