the first is one of my original things that bleed pitch sketches, and the second ones were a little later! these are based on designs by @kkachis with bonus inspiration from her SWWDF illustration too hehe

you can probably tell that the initial tone of my proto-TTB sketches was super lighthearted. then it quickly became. less lighthearted >:)

it's hard to believe i first tossed out the initial idea of TTB to Kei and Kkachi one year ago today! it's literally insane that it's been a full year. i've had so much fun creating TTB with them, and sharing it with yall, it's been beyond amazing and means the world to me 💚

Things That Bleed (Danny Phantom x SCP x Alex Rider)

I’m so unbelievably excited to finally announce “Things That Bleed”, a project written by @kkachis , @artistfingers and myself, that has been in the works for almost a year now!

This fic is a crossover of Danny Phantom, Alex Rider (books and TV), and the SCP Universe, with themes centered on found family and horror!

If you read and enjoyed my fic Something’s Wrong With Danny Fenton, please give this a shot! It utilizes a very similar realistic/traditional approach to depicting ghosts. (If you like my brand of Horror!Danny, I promise you won’t be disappointed, trust me.)

Summary: 

The portal took more than Danny had to give, and he’s been on his own ever since.

What happened in Cairo sent Alex on a downward spiral, and MI6 should have known it would.

Yassen shouldn’t protect them, but he will.

Who the hell even is this guy?

It takes Danny a few seconds longer than his mysterious companion to get up over the fence and drop down on the other side.

“Stop!” the lady shouts, making it to the fence a moment too late. “Dammit,” she spits. Her partner comes around the corner of the store behind her.

They don’t wait. They start running.

“They’ve seen something—still no sign of 6377,” Danny hears her say to whoever she’s connected to over her comm unit.

He feels sick, mercury sloshing in his stomach—heavy and killing him from the inside out.

6377.

Something about hearing it makes it more real.

That’s all he is now.

It’s all that’s left.

Alex hates waiting games. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what this is.  In the corner of the ceiling, where it meets two walls in sharp right angles, is Skinner. It’s worse than having a loaded gun pressed to his skull. It’s hard to swallow just how real it is, every inch of bared tendon and spidery bone. Julius is different from this… creature. This thing could lock Danny in a cage of his own mind. This thing is like nothing he’s ever seen before. The disconcerting thing is that it’s perfectly still. Its head and empty eye sockets are trained on him, without adjustment or error. The guards that stand around Alex occasionally shift, nervous hands on their weapons, their backs never to him and never to the creature in the corner. When Alex twitches, it tilts its head like a demented bird. He can’t shake the sense that it’s hungry.

Haunted

(the last @thingsthatbleedfic chapter and its freaking gorgeous illustrations (@kkachis @artistfingers @dp-belongs-in-a-hoodie) made me feral, so in a desperate bid to know more and get some good context to draw The BoysTM, i read the alex rider books and watched the alex rider show, and then discarded most of that reference and just made alex the colour of the background, BUT, it was worth it because now the show lives in my head rent free, AND i have a treasure trove of fics to read while waiting for the next TTB chapter! woo!)

i felt that including fire was highly appropriate. if you know you know.

Did some facial studies today and like wow wtf faces are so hard. I mean i guess I can draw a passable face in general, but to make one recognizable as a specific person? Infinitely harder.

[Specifically referring to (my piss poor attempt at) realism studies. Manga/anime style is a bit easier because stylization boils character traits to fewer things that can have a more exaggerated difference than in realism, like eye shape, hair shape and any distinctive facial markings.]

He realizes it’s just him and Yassen, standing outside the lobby. Yassen is studying him.

Danny doesn’t want to meet his eyes.

“I won’t prevent you from leaving.”

Danny grimaces. 

“However, I did tell little Alex you could stay,” Yassen continues. “I will not go back on my word.”

reading the alex rider books is just like

alex: yassen is my greatest enemy. my arch nemesis. he has almost killed me so many times. i’m fighting for my life out here

yassen: i keep running into this kid while on jobs and tbh he doesn’t ruin that much for me, i still get paid, but my coworkers want him dead bc he’s an smart arse that keeps insulting them and it’s getting harder to hold them back. PLEASE go home and have a normal childhood

yassen: *showing up in two books as the hired assassin not actually doing any world domination, just trying to do his job* what

Yassen: .....It is 1 PM. Shouldn’t you be in school 

He’s just a guy trying to do his job but ofc fate has other things in store for him. AKA fucking putting the child of his mentor DIRECTLY into his path.

It’s simultaneously SO FUNNY and so emotionally compromising how Yassen was straight up ordered to kill Alex and outright refuses to. But then in book 4 was also like “Anyway, here’s the bull pit. Have fun.”
