i still forget that knitted and crocheted pieces tend to stretch after first wash

Here is my knitting project :) It is a mushroom cape. It’s actually knooking because I don’t have big enough needles, so I made it with a crochet hook and some shoelaces.

I came across this in a book I'm currently reading and it's really stuck in my mind and I wanted to share

i am thinking how much poorer, how much less colorful the world would be if art was only made by "professionals." if all the music, all the stories, all the sketches & paintings & craftwork of the world was created only by the small category of people able to make a decent living from their art. imagine if the only people allowed to create were the experts & the renowned & those aspiring to the top. what a grey world that would be. how much joy would be bleached away! i love you people who create for the sake of creating, i love you artists who do art for tiny audiences, i love you people who make things even just for one person, even just for themselves, even if no one's watching, thank you thank you thank you for decorating the world in which we all exist

My sister suggested that I could, if I so desired, make her something like this, but of course I laughed at the notion. A) That I would not first be making it for myself if I were to ever undertake such a big project and B) that I would even dream of knitting something with mohair which I find really itchy. I love the look, but it would probably drive me mad.

This is a piece on display at the Museo del Traje (a museum of fashion history) in Madrid. I’ll update this listing if I can track down the designer.

We have an arm!!!! I’m very impressed that I’ve managed to get this far and not gotten bored of it and started a new project already 🙈 I need to finish this for my daughter now though

So many hours it took me to complete the newly invented double knit twisted rib bind off on this cowl! The bind off was developed for me by a member of one of my fibre communities and they did such a fantastic job as it is stretchy and completely matches the invisible cast on. I put it over a pool noodle raft to block so it will dry nice & smooth all the way around.
