when the universe conspires against you to make sure you actually get outside and enjoy the lovely spring weather, by finally killing your 7 year old laptop that you were trying to use to apply to jobs that will pay you a living wage

I think laptop is now tomorrow's problem, I'm going to be sitting out on a blanket and knitting

I like to imagine that Brom still got to see and participate in some of Eragons firsts. Like the village is sitting around a campfire and Brom tells one of his stories and little Eragon wriggles free from his aunts grasps and waddles over to him- his first steps. And Brom gets to catch him and everyone thinks it's just cute but Brom, on the inside, is so happy that Eragons first steps were towards him.

There is something deeply funny to me about the fact that, of people who pray the rosary (at least in the United States); the Catholics tend to be super conservative, and the Episcopalians/Anglicans tend to be gay.

experimenting today with layer borders/stroke effects to quickly portray high-detail/texture stuff, like this wip still life of a knitting project...! doing better than past times i've tried this tip, i think

it's not very fast, bc i find i have to rly slow down + be intentional abt my lines or it starts looking pretty artificial (u know all those awful "comic book lines" filters in selfie editing apps + stuff? yeah.) but it's still certainly faster than outlining individual stitches

there's already an INCREDIBLE wealth of very nicely crafted shortcut brushes for this kind of thing in the csp assets store, including specifically for knitting stitches etc! but in my experience a lot of those have a pretty clean/crisp art style, and when ur married to very textured/grungy brushes like me, they end up looking very pasted-in or clip-art-y. :') it's such a shame bc i wish i could use all the great stuff that already exists but usually it just doesn't gel w my stuff. (<-guy who needs to learn how to make my OWN brushes)

Found a pair of knitted hoods a few years ago and thought it would be fun to add something to them. Finally got around to it yesterday.

I give you:

Ok I’m pretty sure it’s been said before but Puss has absolutely no identity outside of “the legendary puss in boots.” Like none whatsoever. The legend has gotten so big that even he can’t live up to it.

The most obvious example of this is when Kitty confronts him at the wishing star. After confessing that she thought she could trust him again, she says, “but you’re just the same old puss in boots” and on the verge of tears he exclaims, “but I’m not!! I am not puss in boots! I am not-“ Kitty rolls her eyes and says, “what? The legend?” And puss just crumples. He’s viewing this persona that’s he’s made as a separate entity, as something he has to live up to and strive to be, not who he really is. Another example of this is as Puss is leaving mama Lunas in the beginning. Perrito asks, “pickles, you’re puss in boots?” And he responds, “not yet, but I will be.” He believes that if he gets his lives back, he’ll be able to once again live up to ppls expectations of him and become puss in boots. He is not puss in boots, that’s smth he has to become.

After his panic attack, he admits to perrito that without his lives he is nothing and we see in the beginning of the movie that those extra lives are what let him be a “fearless hero.” So wo the lives he can’t be a hero and wo being a hero he is nothing. He has no identity outside of that. Also in the cave of lost souls, one of his past lives says “oh, the legends still big, gato. It’s YOU who got small.” which I think fits this whole situation really well. This whole idea of puss in boots has gotten way too big for him to handle and he’s lost wo that script to follow.

He needs so badly for ppl to like him and he’s poured so much time, energy, and lives into it that he doesn’t know who he is wo it. And we see as soon as that identity is taken away at mama Lunas, he becomes extremely depressed and aimless.

But now he’s got friends who actually love him for him, not the legend, but still ended the movie choosing to carry on as puss in boots. I’m interested to see how his character will change because of that. Will he find a balance between his persona and who he really is? Will he explore aspects of himself outside of being a hero? Maybe pick up a hobby or smth that’s just for him, not for public display? Idk we’ll just have to see.

Been a weird winter - kinda worried about what that means for spring/summer bug and forest fire wise … but we’ll see!

Doily 10 | Pattern | Yarn Shawl 14 | Pattern | Yarn

I'm about 100 stitches from starting my bind off for Doily 10! It's going to be raining all week so I can't block it regardless but I'm excited to finish it anyway.

Speaking of things I'm excited for. I started my Evenstar shawl. I wanted to finish Doily 10 and Shawl 13 before I started but injury stopped that from happening. Yesterday was an important day to me so I wanted to start Shawl 14 on it even if I wasn't able to put my whole focus into it yet.
