hi viria, i was wondering what brand/kind of make up do you use? i get so overwhelmed looking at youtube videos because it feels like you need a lot like foundation, concealer, powder, primer, etc. and i'm worried it'll look really obvious/bad but you make it look natural and subtle
on wwh, thank you!
Personally, I don’t feel like myself with heavy make up and I think it doesn’t quite suit me, so I’m happy to know what I do is liked by someone!
But I feel like I might use a lot of stuff too? A year ago or so I happened to get myself into korean skincare/makeup, so ended up getting a bunch of stuff, mostly for skincare, but still. My foundation, highlighter, a few lip tints and blushes are from there. I think from what I use on a regular basis I only have loreal concealer and some cheet eyeshadows that are mass market.
Generally tho, everything I have is mass market because cool things american youtubers use in their videos are. very. expensive here, so korean ones are good alternative for me. Like, usual maxfactor foundation probably costs around 200 grn, korean be a bit more expensive but I feel like the quality is a bit better would be around 200-400 while something like mac or nyx (and those are the most affordable) are 600 and up to 1500 or so…
ANYWAY! I drew a tutorial of what I tend to do on a regular basis as in my go to makeup!
Tumblr media
For step 2, I tend to use soothing/brightening cream right after I wash my face, so I don’t use it right before I do my make up (unless it’s sunscreen)
Tumblr media
3. I LOVE BEING DEWY okay, I try to find the good balance between dewy and looking oily, but so far I think it works. My last fave is secret key tattoo cover cushion foundation, but I’m running out of it.. it’s what I used for the past 4 months or so. As for concealer, I use loreal with brush that you have to swirl to get the product out which I don’t remember how to call but it’s subtle, covers bags quite nicely and doesn’t look heavy:3
Tumblr media
to be honest mostly I just use my blush as an eyeshadow..Unless i use something brownish. I don’t know the brands I have but they vere like 20 grn back in the day, so. very. cheap stuff.
as for lips, I mostly use matte or semi matte lipsticks or tints, they are easier to smudge and my hair doesn’t stick on it which is very important!
Tumblr media
Generally, from what I learnt, you don’t need a super excessive amount on a daily basis? I don’t have a single bronzer or contour palette or specified brow products and I only use what I have in eyeshadows for that. same ashy brown somehow looks nice as contour and as my eyebrow shadow.
I think it’s hard not to get overwhelmed at the amount of products a lot of people use in their videos, but…I’m not sure, maybe it’s just the quality of what I buy here, but I can’t say primer EVER changed anything for me. Like my foundation still lasts however long it can, with or without it. Or those fancy glowy or moistrusing essanses instagram beauties drop all over their faces, i’m not even sure what are those and how necessary those kinds of things are.
I guess focus more on the products you actually need instead of those people say you absolutely have to purchase.
I’m sorry I don’t know if it helps but I hope it does at least a little bit!
PS I think there will be many typos and I’m sorry for them, but for some reason I can’t fix them without deleting every single letter in front of my typo:( tumblr text is hard

Tumblr media
I've been watching a lot of beauty vlogs and makeup tutorials lately. Makeup is so much fun, I'm still learning and pretty much enjoying it. Before, I only used to putting powder on my face, some blush, do my eyebrows and only apply lip tint to put some color on my lips. But now I have managed to create some sort of a makeup routine for my everyday look.
I do not have fancy makeup tools or high end makeup products. I also do not like putting on heavy makeup and just usually go for a nude look. I don't have much makeup yet but little by little I'm starting to invest in them. My makeup products are mixed of Korean and Western Brands. Some of the stuff I buy online and some at the mall.
The content of my makeup bag is like for beginners and just the basic ones. I have yet to buy other makeup products but for now here's what's inside my makeup bag and basically what I use for my everyday makeup.
Primer
I just recently bought this primer from Althea. It's from the brand Milky Dress and so far I am loving it. For me, it really makes a difference when you use a primer.  It gives you a smoother and long lasting makeup. It also helps seal the pores which is really helpful for me as I have a slightly large pores.
     2. Foundation
I've just started using Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation like a month ago. As mentioned earlier, I only use a regular face powder before. I don't really use it on a daily basis but I love this foundation. Its super light weight which I like but I'm not a big fan of it all in all.
     3. Spot Corrector
I only apply this one at night. I also got this one from Althea. I haven't really seen its effects on my dark spots and acne scars since I've been using it for only just a week. Hopefully after week to I'll be able to see good results on my face.
      4. Blush
My blush is from a Korean brand and it has that rose gold / peachy shade which I like. It's a a powder finish and comes in different shades. It blends well and lasts all throughout the day.
      5. Eyeshadow
This was just a gift from my aunt. I actually have two of these but I dropped the other one and it broke. I don't really put eyeshadow on my lids but rather use it sometimes as a bronzer.
      6. Lipsticks
I only use one brand of lipstick which is NYX. I really really love their matte liquid lipsticks. I have 2 shades from the suede collection and 2 shades from the lingerie collection. The shades that I have are all on the nude / brown-ish side.
      7. Eyebrow Pencil
This one is totally a must have. Nowadays, I can no longer go outside without doing my brows. I have 2 eyebrow pencil, 1 from Nichido and 1 from Miniso. I wanted to try a powder type so if you have any recommendations feel free to do so.
       8. Concealer
I have 2 concealers but the one I use the most is from a Korean brand. I also have the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer but I got a slightly darker shade so I don't really use it that often.
       9. Highlighter
This is also a Korean brand highlighter that I got from Althea on my first haul. I'm really not quite satisfied with it so I'm gonna buy a different highlighter. It's so messy and just looks like I have a scattered glitter on my face.
      10. Makeup Brushes
I only have a blush brush and another small brush (which I actually don't know the use of but usually just use it to dust off my loose powder). I bought a makeup brush set a few weeks back on wish.com but my order hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully I'll get it this week.
       11. Contour Stick
This is actually just a dupe of the original Nyx Wonderstick which I got from a friend. I don't really use it anymore as I don't like a cream based makeup due to my oily face and prefers a powder one.
Putting makeup on is really fun and I enjoy it so much. It makes me feel good and it makes me happy. Not that I need makeup just to feel better about myself but it just brings out that extra confidence in me. I don't put makeup on for other people but I do it for myself. I like looking pretty and presentable that's why I love putting makeup on. I have other beauty products that I use but I don't really put them on my makeup bag.
I'll probably be buying and trying out a lot more products so I'll probably be needing a bigger makeup  bag. If you have any product recommendations comment them down below so I can check them out :-)

Illustration Inspired Make-up: Artist Zipcy
Tumblr media
A make-up look inspired by the sensual illustrations of korean illustrator, Zipcy. View her beautiful illustration work here:  http://www.grafolio.com/zipcy  https://www.instagram.com/zipcy/?hl=en
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shy and I have always wanted to do a make-up series inspired by illustrators. And so we went ahead and recreated two pieces from two different illustrators.
Zipcy’s most recognized work at the moment is from her “Touch” series, featuring intimate portrayals of her and her husband. I love how her style uses very smooth, curvy lines and a consistent, soft color palette.
Recreating this look focuses mostly on soft, flawless looking skin, and a simple, clean eye look. Learned that it’s more “dramatic” to look wistfully at some one with a long, clean line on top of the lashes and orange shadow right under the eyes.
These are the products that I used for this look:
Tumblr media
BASE/FACE: The Faceshop Air Cotton Makeup Base (01 Mint), Innisfree Longwear Cushion (023), Clio Kill Cover ProArtist Liquid Concealer, Nyx Concealer palette (in Light) BROWS: Essence Make Me Brow (in Brown) EYES: Absolute New York Icon Pro Palette, Bobbie Cosmetics Baby Doll Eyes Bold Liquid Liner LIPS: Lanolips 101 Ointment Multibalm, Tony Moly Liptone Lip Get it Tint (in 07 Oh My Rose), Nichido Lipstick (Nude Pink)
Of course, we included at least one outtake each.

Lipsticks You Can Still Wear When Your Lips Are Chapped Having flaky, dry lips doesn't rank high on our list of everyday grievances — it's more of a winter annoyance than anything. But somewhere down the list, right next to missing your bus or spilling coffee on a white shirt, there it sits: the bane of any lipstick lover's existence. It's trivial, sure, but we dare you to find a makeup nerd who hasn't had a look ruined by a pair of lips that resemble two withered prunes. "Flaky lips are a real problem [because it's] damaged skin," says Sara Happ, founder of her eponymous lip care brand . The secret to getting rid of the issue? "They need time to heal." While drinking lots of water, gently exfoliating, and topping off your lips with a hydrating balm is the fastest and easiest way to rid yourself of the problem, it doesn't mean you have to forgo lipstick all together in the meantime. Ahead, check out 10 lipsticks (at a variety of price points and finishes) you can wear whether your lips are chapped, flaky, or just plain dry. Read These Stories Next: 12 Before After Photos That Show How Important Your Hair Part Is I Drank A Gallon Of Water A Day For Better Skin Here's What Happened This Eye-Makeup Trend Is Going To Be Huge It's SO Easy To Copy The Finish: Satin Ever since trying Kosas's high-coverage, moisturizing lipsticks for the first time a few months ago, they've been mainstays in our makeup bags. Not only is each bullet free of parabens, phthalates, and sulfates, but the formula is loaded with hydrating ingredients like rosehip oil and mango butter. Kosas , $34, available at Kosas The Finish: Glossy Want the coverage of a liquid lipstick but can't bare to have the life sucked out of your lips by another matte formula? Bite Beauty , $24, available at Sephora The Finish: Sheer Balmy Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balms are no-makeup makeup in a twist-up package. The slick formula isn't just hydrating, it leaves the prettiest soft, shiny tint on the lips, too. Burt's Bees® , $5, available at Burt's Bees® The Finish: Satin E.L.F.'s Moisturizing Lipsticks are some of our favorites thanks to the formula's balm-like texture and opaque color payoff. The plush, matte formula never catches on flaky skin and can be sheered out for a subtle stain or layered for fuller coverage. Ilia , $26, available at Ilia The Finish: Glossy Nyx's Butter Glosses are classics for a reason: They offer buildable coverage, never feel sticky on our lips, and come in dozens of fun shades. Easy  “Rucy’s Vanity” 10-Minute Natural Make-up Look 💋
If you're like me who hits that snooze button at least 5 times before actually getting up, then you're probably also the type who thinks that any extra minute, added to your sleep, is hella precious. I've committed myself to doing a quick natural make-up routine every morning, that wouldn't take me longer than 10 minutes, because I really want to save my time, for sleeping (#BeautySleep). Here's a step-by-step tutorial of how I do my everyday makeup with Rucy's Vanity.
Rucy’s Vanity is a 100% Korean cosmetics brand offering high quality cosmetics in a more reasonable price to create a beautiful life. They have a variety of products like make-up, skincare (acne-prevention, whitening, cleansing), bodycare, and nail polish.
Now let's get on with the tutorial! ✨
STEP 1: Tie your hair or wear a head band to prevent your hair from getting onto your face while doing your make-up.
*I don't usually show my forehead, because #paliparan HAHA, but for you guys, I shall!*
STEP 2: Apply Rucy's Vanity BB Cream. Normally you'd have to do an extra step before this, and that's applying sun block to your face and neck, which would add around 3-5 minutes to your routine, depending on how fast it would get absorbed by your skin. But for this case, Rucy's Vanity's BB Cream already has sunblock, that's SPF 20 PA+++, and has an anti-wrinkle and whitening formyla! It comes in two shades, #21 Natural and #23 Oak.
Apply a dollop onto your hand. Then dot your face evenly and lightly blend the BB Cream, with your fingers or a face sponge, making sure to cover all areas of your face and neck.
STEP 3: After applying BB Cream onto your face, you can finish your base by lightly applying Rucy's Vanity Two-way Cake, which is a combo of foundation and powder. Again it has UV protection, that's SPF 35 PA++, and whitening minerals that'll keep your face matte. It comes in two shades, #21 Natural Beige and #23 Dark Beige.
STEP 4: Next pencil eyebrows with Rucy's Vanity Auto Eyebrow Pencil, to fill those gaps and make your face more defined. An easy retractable eyebrow pencil, it can create excellent, sharp and precise lines. It's very pigmented and easy to blend. It has three colors, black, brown and gray.
STEP 5: Curl eyelashes then apply Rucy's Vanity Liquid Eyeliner onto your top lid. Water-proof, with a deep black pigmentation, it can last a whole day without smudging.
Sometimes I skip this part when I'm feeling more laidback, but simply adding a winged eyeliner onto your face can make such a difference!
STEP 6: Apply Rucy's Vanity Gleamy Lavish Waterproof Mascara onto your curled eyelashes. Hypo-allergenic and sweat resistant, this water-proof mascara coats each lash making it appear naturally longer and more volumized.
STEP 7: Apply lip tint / lipstick / lip balm onto your lips, to add color to your face!
And voilà! You're done and it only took you 10 minutes (or less) to do your make-up! With Rucy’s Vanity, you're sure to have a great quality finish with your make-up.
All of Rucy’s Vanity's products are certified from the Korea Food and Drug Administration and Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
tellemaywhy sweeeg!
Don't get frustrated if it took you longer on your first time. With practice, you can reach the 10-minute mark and possibly get even faster than that. Practice makes perfect!
