thinking about how korra is the last avatar of wan's era and the first avatar of her era
and thinking about how the southern air temple sanctuary avatar statue spiral always would've been completed with korra in the center of it, the 183rd avatar
and thinking about how the temple signals as though it was always destined to be this way, that korra was always meant to be the inflection point of eras, and how she heralded the world down this path forged all by herself through her sheer power and spirit, bridging the worlds and forever changing its landscape. she did that! she both opened the old portals and created a new portal in the first 21 years of her life, in opposite of her predecessor 10,000 years ago, and she brought back the air nation despite her tumultuous heart, and she sacrificed so much of herself to ensure their survival. she is so full of love and compassion and care and she has given so much of herself to the world. and she is the starting point for the the new avatars after her and there is so much that she alone can give them

If I was the older airbenders I would be much more concerned that aang is flying. Like isn’t it canon in the atla universe that flying means they have no attachments. That should be concerning not only for a small child but especially for the person that has the power to change the fate of the world

korrasami and longing
please walk with me here, i wanna make a point.
i recently rewatched tlok, and remember someone pointed this out years ago after the finale dropped but i don't remember who was it, or where it was posted. i can't find it so i assume it's gone by now, and i wanted to give my own thoughts.
SO. we all know the 3 years korra and asami spent away from each other between book 3 and 4 is very important to their story. in reunion, asami tells korra she's been talking to her father again and is thinking about forgiving him. korra is concerned that hiroshi might wanna hurt her again, and asami goes off:
Tumblr media
obviously korra was just worried and had no ill intentions, but asami's reaction is understandable. personally, i would at least feel a little bothered if someone who disappeared for years and refused to keep in touch after a while wanted to judge what i was doing with my life all of a sudden.
especially after having offered to give up everything to go with and support her in any way possible, and everything i got was a quick decline and a big ass ghosting after a couple of letters...
anyway. then we have this scene in kuvira's gambit:
Tumblr media
i've watched some reactions on youtube and most people didn't GET it. it's not a surprise since it's a trend in avatar fandom to misunderstand korra's character a lot (and the writers fumbled a little bit with korrasamis development in b4 imo).
this is not a badass korra™ scene or something out of place, it's actually simple: korra knows how it feels to be distant from the ones you love and not being able to do much about it, because it happened to her. korra's body recovered relatively fast and she could've came back sooner but, as toph told her in the swamp, korra was unconsciously sabotaging herself so she wouldn't be susceptible to getting hurt again. still, it felt so horrible to be separated from someone she cared about that she --knowing that bataar jr had love and devotion for kuvira-- used it a fucking threat to get him to talk!
and we reach THE korrasami scene, where they finally get some time alone after the battle and things have cooled down a bit, and the first thing korra does is apologize:
Tumblr media
this is one of the few times since coming back that korra actively shows regret from what happened. it's the only time she apologizes for it, and it's to asami.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
asami's answer is heartbreaking, but it is what it is. she could've lost both korra AND her dad, the people she cared for the most, but she still has korra. she's here. and that's what matters now.

I have come to the conclusion that I am not interested in AtLA spinoffs, but I love prequels. The comics, the next avatar, the adult Gaang story, none of them interest me enough to interact with them, but I am living for every detail the novels reveal. Like what do you MEAN the Fire Lord has a bastard half-brother scheming for power TELL ME MOREEEE

It’s been ten years, but I am still very disappointed that at no point throughout the entirety of Legend of Korra did Korra activate the Avatar State and pilot the giant metal statue of Aang like it was a mecha, not even to fight Kuvira’s giant mecha in the series finale.
What was even the point of the Avatar learning metalbending if she doesn’t use it to control a mecha??? Smh so disappointing.

I love how Suyin's personality comes out in small instances like her clothing. She literally said, "Yeah, let's go to war with terrorists and a fascist dictator, but lemme look somewhat stylish while doing it first."

I don't know how much water the 'Baatar Sr is a Sukka kid' theory holds, but the possibilities for his kids it opens is incredible.
I mean Opal and the twins with FANS AND SWORDS?! COMBINING THE LEGACY OF THE GREATEST EARTHBENDER IN THE WORLD, THE CHIEF OF THE SOUTHERN WATER TRIBE AND THE LEADER OF THE KYOSHI WARRIORS?!
Metal fans? METAL FANS?!
Also give Opal a sword the woman deserves it! And a boomerang she can throw at Kuvira.
Huan incorporating traditional Southern Water Tribe motifs into his art?!
The Beifong kids ice dodging?! With Kuvira, who is not even marginally prepared for this? And Kuvira getting the mark of the trusted (like aang did in the atla episode)?! The irony! The foreshadowing!
Katara seeing different iterations of her dead brother in them, especially the boys?! Tragic and beautiful.

Make Rohan a Bender but NOT an AIRBENDER
I know Pema wants Rohan to be a non-bender like her. But what would be cool is if he turned out to be a WATERBENDER.
Imagine how happy Katara would be! Kya it seems will never settle down and give Katara a grandkid. And Bumi became an airbender due to that dumb harmonic convergence crap (screw Korra btw). Rohan being a waterbender would force Tenzin to acknowledge the water tribe part of his heritage for once! Also maybe Katara could teach Rohan too :). Katara deserves to have a waterbending grandkid damnit and to be more involved in her own freaking family! Give LOK Katara some love please!
