out of context bits from a fanfic I wrote over a year ago
~
"Guys, we found air!" Biana shouted from the other room.
~
"Okay, let me get this straight," Dex clarified. "A coffin is what humans put dead people in, right?"
~
And they had to use these tiny human flashlights to light their way, and they were pretty dim. Too bad somebody killed the only Flasher here, Biana thought grimly.
~
A moment later, Keefe made a noise and stood up triumphantly. "I gave the dude his toe back, and there was a note in his shoe!"
~
Soon Fitz was right next to it, and it hadn't blown up, which was always a good sign.
~
“There’s no way everyone’s fitting in here,” he mumbled.
"Well, we’ve already killed three people…."
"Yeah, but it’d be better if we got the rest of us out of here alive.”
~
“Right, um.” Fitz looked at the car around him. “Any idea how to slow one of these down?”
“We’re already stopped, Fitz, you don’t get any slower.”
~
“How am I supposed to get these things to sit up straight?” Fitz said defensively.
“Maybe they’re all gay,” Marella mused.

How did we just skip over the fact that Sophie got accepted to Yale at 12 years old.
An Ivy League school at 12 years old.
I want a fic if she did end of going to Yale. Might as well write it myself. *cracks fingers and picks up pen* time to get started, when I get back from school tho.

ok so I saw this Headcanon and now I'm running w/ it-
Tam stood in front of the mirror, glaring at his reflection.
"Tien!" his mother called from downstairs. Tam made a face. "Get down here young lady!"
Tam made a face in the mirror to distract from the feeling of disgust in his stomach. He stood up, put on his boots over his tights, and smoothed the pink dress his mother made him wear.
"I'm not a lady," Tam mumbled under his breath. He closed his bedroom door behind him. "Linh! We're going!" Linh bounded out from her own bedroom, across the hall from Tam's.
"Coming!" Linh said. At ten years old, she was just taller than Tam, and she would not shut up about it. Her matching dress was wet at the back from her still-soaking wet hair.
"Linh!" Tam cried. "Mom will be so mad." He searched for a towel, but when he couldn't find one he squeezed her wet hair out himself.
"Ow!"
"Shut up!" Tam said. "You need to pull it back."
"I don't have a hair tie," Linh said. Tam grabbed one from around his own wrist. "Can you braid it?" Tam sighed.
"Fine," Tam said. He braided Linh's hair tightly, as the water dripped down onto the carpet. "It'll be dry by the time we get home."
"Tien! Linh! Come on, your father doesn't want us to be late! We're meeting with one of his friends." Mai said. "He has a son around your age, won't it be fun to meet him? Hurry up!"
Tam rolled his eyes, and Linh giggled. Dad's friends are boring. Tam thought. He tightened his ponytail at the back of his neck. At least Mom won't be hovering all day though.
Tam and Linh came down the stairs. When Mai saw Tam's hair, she frowned.
"Come on, Tien, why won't you let your hair down? Don't you want to be pretty like all the other girls?" Mai asked. Tam had to keep the disgust from showing on his face.
"No," Tam snapped and crossed his arms over his chest. Mai frowned but said nothing as they waited for Quan. He finally came down, and together they light leaped to Candleshade.
Linh ducked behind Tam's back as a family of three stepped forward. Linh dug her nails into Tam's arm, and he bit back a curse. That's not lady-like, his mother would have said. Tam made a mental note to start swearing more. Maybe not in front of strangers, though.
"Quan," the tall man said. "Good to see you. I'm so glad I finally got the opportunity to meet your family. Which of your daughters is older? My, that could be twins!" The man laughed at the cruelty of his own joke, the punchline being that people with twins weren't as good as them. Tam smirked.
"We are twins, sir," Tam said.
"Tien!" his father scolded. "That's-"
"It's true," Linh added softly from behind Tam's back. "I'm older, though."
"No, you're not-" Tam was interrupted from what he was saying by the laughter of another child.
The boy was tall and pretty, with golden curls of hair. Tam thought he was the most beautiful person he had ever seen.
Tam was filled with instant loathing. He hated him.
"Twins? That's cool," the boy said. His father smacked his shoulder.
"Keefe," Mr. Sencen hissed. Keefe just rolled his eyes.
"You kids go play," Mai said. She, Quan and Mr. Sencen went into the other room, while Tam, Linh, and Keefe went into the living room.
"What do you want to do?" Keefe asked. Tam wanted to smack that stupid smile off his stupid face, but he didn't voice that.
"Hide and seek?" Linh suggested. Tam shrugged. He shifted away from Keefe when he stepped forward.
"Sure," Keefe said. His eyes flickered to Tam. "You seek!"
"No fair!" Linh said, but Keefe dragged Tam by the wrist out of the room before he could protest.
"Count to a hundred!" Keefe said. He pulled Tam up the stairs. Tam wanted to show Keefe down them.
"Where are we going?" Tam asked.
"The closet," Keefe said. How ironic. Tam thought and rolled his eyes.
"That'll be the first place she'll check," Tam said.
"Well, there are like, half a dozen closets in this stupid house, and she doesn't live here. And if she starts on the bottom floor, that'll take forever."
"Isn't it kinda stupid that your room is on the top floor?" Tam said, out of breath. Keefe yanked him onto the hall. They ran down the hall to another stairwell. "Your house is so stupid!" Like you. Tam thought.
"Mean!" Keefe said. He let go of Tam's wrist. Tam rubbed the skin, still hot from Keefe's tight grip. He held on like he was scared that Tam would try and leave, Tam noticed.
"You're mean!" Tam said.
"You're annoying! And you run like a girl!" Keefe said. Sexist ass. Tam thought. This time he said it out loud too.
Keefe stopped running. He stood on the stairs with his hands on his hips.
"Can you stop that? We need to hide or your sister will find us. Don't you want to beat her? We need to go, and you're slowing us down." Keefe scolded. Tam laughed. Apparently, this was not the desired reaction, because Keefe shoved him. "Most girls like me. Why don't you like me?"
"I'm sure most girls hate you, actually," Tam said. He elbowed Keefe on his way past him on the stairs. It was funny to Tam, less so to Keefe. Tam never got to roughhouse-it was fun. Tam was never given to chance to hang out with other boys, other than his cousins. It felt nice. Tam was a boy, with boys for friends.
"No," Keefe said.
"What's wrong? Got your ego bruised?" Tam asked. He grinned. Keefe glared.
"Fine, stay here and lose the game to your older sister," Keefe said.
"Fine," Tam said. He sat down on the stairwell, even though it was dusty and dirty.
Keefe started going back up the stairs. He looked over his shoulder and frowned when he saw Tam still on the ground. Tam smirked.
"I'm leaving," Keefe said. "And since my stupid house is so big, you're not going to see me until my parents make me say goodbye to you."
"And?"
"Well-that would suck because I'm a lot of fun, and you're just being a jerk..." Keefe said. He whined. "Oh come on!"
"Fine!" Tam groaned. Keefe smiled, and Tam's face felt hot. Keefe held out his hand for Tam, and Tam took it. Keefe didn't expect that: his hand went slack and his face flushed. Tam dug his nails into Keefe's wrist when Keefe let go of him.
They stood still for a moment, before Tam realized he was still holding onto Keefe's hand. He tried to break free, but Keefe tightened his grip.
"Come on!" Keefe cried. The two ran up the rest of the way to the top floor.
"God, why is your room on the top floor?" Tam panted, out of breath.
"My parents want me out of the way," Keefe shrugged, but his eyes were sad. Tam thought about doing something comforting, like squeezing Keefe's hand, which was still in his, but he instead just pulled his hand away and crossed his arms over his chest, with a blushing face. Keefe seemed to realize too, and he blushed.
"So where's the closet?" Tam asked dryly. Real funny god, Tam thought.
"Here," Keefe said and led Tam to his room. Why does he keep grabbing my hand? Tam thought, and pried his hand from Keefe's. Keefe led Tam through his messy bedroom to a closet in the corner. Keefe stepped in first and Tam followed.
It was cramped, with just enough room for the two boys to sit next to each other, but Tam was practically on top of Keefe.
"Great going," Tam hissed. He struggled to close the door. "This is a stupid hiding spot."
"No, it's not!" Keefe said. "See, we're to the side. If Linh opens the door, she won't even see us, unless she looks to the left. I threw off my dad loads of times with this, when I was hiding."
"Huh," Tam said. He squished himself back against the wall. They sat in silence for a while. "Why do your parents want you out of the way?"
"Oh, they said I'm too much," Keefe shrugged. "Too loud. Too messy. Too much."
"Sound like something my dad would say," Tam said. "Mostly he doesn't say anything though. Might hit me or my sister. Sometimes my mom." Tam realized he shouldn't be saying anything, and turned to look at Keefe, but Keefe only nodded like he understood.
"But, boys can't hit girls," Keefe said. He pressed his lips into a line.
"Well, I'm not a girl," Tam blurted. He gasped, and cupped his hand over his mouth. "You-you can't tell my mom!"
"What? Why not? And what do you mean you're not a girl?" Keefe said. His eyes flickered to Tam's chest, and Tam smacked his head.
"Well, I look like a girl, but I don't feel like one," Tam said. He crossed his arms over his chest. You already said too much Tam. Might as well do a full confession. "I wish I looked like a boy."
"Okay," Keefe said. "Well, why can't you tell your mom?"
"She said she wouldn't have loved me if I was a boy," Tam said, staring at the ground.
"Oh," Keefe said. He looked at Tam. "Well, it doesn't matter to me if you're a boy or a girl. Girls are weird anyway."
"Thanks," Tam said. "I'm not Tien, though. I like Tam."
"That's way cooler than Tien," Keefe said. "Nice to meet you, Tam." Tam laughed.
"Why'd you change your name? Is Tien a girl name?" Keefe asked.
"No, but I wanted a fresh start, I guess," Tam said.
"Does it have a meaning?" Keefe asked. Tam grinned.
"It means twin," Tam said. Keefe burst out laughing, and Tam joined him. Tam stopped laughing, and stared at Keefe. He blushed when Keefe smiled at him. I hate him. Tam thought, slightly alarmed and panicked.
Right?

Keeper of the Lost Cities: Forevermore (fanfic)
Preface:
“Sophie?”
She tried to reply to her friends, but couldn’t speak. It was like this mysterious voice that had been haunting her all this time, had finally decided to take control.
It was worse than being drugged.
Worse than being numb.
And there was no way she could escape it.
The voice spoke inside her head once again,
“I am the moonlark.”
Chapter 1
Sophie tried to sleep. But she just couldn’t. All the images of the horrible fight with lady Gisela played on repeat, like someone was rewinding a movie over and over again. And it was getting kind of annoying. Sophie wanted to shove all the memories into a mental box labeled: DO NOT OPEN EVER AGAIN
But the box just wouldn’t lock.
And it was the middle of the night.
She needed a distraction.
As much as she would love to down some slumber berry tea and escape into cloudy dreams, she knew it wouldn’t make the memory go away.
Sophie threw off her covers and crossed to her desk. She pulled out the tattered journal that held all her important notes inside. Notes about the black swan, the never seen, lady Gisela…
Basically anything mysterious and important in her life. And defeating lady Gisela, at the moment, was very important. They had to stop her huge plans before she could complete the third and final step of Stellarlune, The project shed been working on since before Keefe was born. It’s something she’s “preparing” him for. But by doing that resulted in lots of hurt and abuse for her son.
Sophie flipped to the page in her journal that read “Things I know about Lady Gisela”
Everything in the journal she’d already read at least a hundred times. But there was nothing that could help here figure out Gisela’s plans. Keefe’s mom was too smart. Too cunning. Too mysterious.
Sophie sighed and closed the journal. She laid her head down on her desk.
Everything had been so messed up lately. And tomorrow, Sophie would have to go to school among it all. Couldn’t she get a pass for trying if to save the Lost Cities from some huge power that Lady Gisela created?
No. Of course not.
Sophie was the moonlark, but she was also a teenager, who, guess what? Wants to be a normal girl that does normal things. Things like having sleepovers, failing class and having a boyfriend.
Well, she already had the boyfriend part down.
Keefe Scencen, was, in Sophie’s opinion, the best guy ever. They had only started dating a few weeks ago, but it was really…nice.
Keefe was kind, funny and caring. Not to mention he was very cute. He had creatively messy blonde hair and the most stunning ice blue eyes. He was everything Sophie had ever dreamed. But with that dream, came the price of making another boy (a complicated one), jealous in the process.
She so didn’t mean to make Fitz upset. It was her life, and she was allowed to kiss whoever she wanted.
Even then…her and Fitz’s friendship was still rocky. Of course, the truth healed some wounds. But Sophie still remembered the hurt look and the shine in his teal eyes as she confessed.
She’d have to forget about that for now, and she hoped Fitz would forget it too.
Because Sophie didn’t need any more drama in her life at the moment.
Sophie stood up from her desk chair and tucked herself back in bed.
She’d figure it all out soon. It was only a matter of time.

elves should be fundamentally than humans in more ways than just all of their eyes being blue and their abilities, there should be little things that make humans go
“there’s something diffident about that them, something wrong, something not human” but they can never put their finger it
that’s the true reason that Sophie was treated like an outcast, not because she was a smart and nerdy twelve year old, but because there was wrong about her in ways she was completely unaware of and that the humans around her couldn’t understand.
when she’d walk it looks like they are almost floating on air, when they run they seem to fly and when she’d jump they stay in the air just a little to long. when she’d swim the water seems to move with her, she can stay underwater long enough to make you think she’d drowned. butterflies will land on her more often than they should, and she could find where the birds are singing from without any thought. she could find the prettiest rocks in the rivers ones that sparkle like precious jewels.
her existence makes humans uncomfortable, and they can’t understand why, all they know is whatever they’re looking at can’t be completely human, and it terrifies them because the unknown is something we have learned to fear.
Sophie should have noticed Fitz because it was the first time she saw someone who just was different, someone who acted just a little wrong, someone like her.
when she got to the lost cities she thought she would finally stop feeling like an other.
but she didn’t.
her eyes are the wrong color and glow red when she’s upset, she will finish her mentors sentences when they are teaching her history of her new world that she should never known, her mental strength is too much for someone her size, she can understand animals in ways she shouldn’t, she can read their minds at any time and they would never know it, she’s a weapon in the body of a child
her existence makes Elves uncomfortable, and they can’t understand why, it terrifies them because the unknown is something we have learned to fear.

version where Keefe agrees to stay in Jolies old room after Edaline offers. His eyes get misty when Sophie and her mom walk him in and help him get settled. He cries a little when they leave to let him change and get comfortable. He comes out in these human pajama pants and a black t-shirt and Sophie decides to focus on that and not his slightly red and puffy eyes.
They sit in the couch and Edaline brings them something sweet and a few more bottles of youth. Grady watches from the kitchen with soft, sad eyes.
He thanks her parents and apologizes for all the trouble he’s causing and they wave it away. They say things about how it’s not a problem and that they’re just happy he’s safe and back. He gets a little misty eyed again. After food and only slightly awkward silence, Grady mentions that they should definitely try to sleep. It’s late, and it’ll be easier to talk after some rest.
They go upstairs together and Sophie pushes past her anxiety and grabs his hand as they walk. Neither of them say anything, but he hugs her at the top of the stairs.
She wonders if it’s her awareness of his feelings for her, or if it’s her mutual ones, but she can’t find it in herself to be mad at him. Not when his face is buried in between her neck and shoulder, not when he holds her like he’s trying to make up for everything that happened, not when he stands in front of her looking like a boy. It hits her again that he’s not much older than her, and he’s still incredibly young be elven standards.
She’s sure she’ll be mad again in the morning, or even later tonight, but for now this quite comfort works. She is beyond relieved he’s home with her.
She walks with him to his room. She stands beside him as he gets in the bed and she flicks of the lights for him when she goes to leave.
He calls her. Asks her to stay. She immediately agrees.
She runs downstairs to tell her parents, her dad looks like he’s about to start a very uncomfortable lecture, but her mom cuts in after meeting her eyes and tells her she thinks it’s a great idea.
She runs back to her room to grab some pillows, Ella, and another blanket.
Keefe watches her walk into the room. He’s still laying where she left him, it makes her slightly less worried. His eyes are big, almost childish, and again she can’t help but think he’s just a boy. And he doesn’t deserve to feel like this. She’s mad, but not at him.
He stops her from setting up a spot on the floor near the bed. She’s confused. They fuss about it for a minute before he pulls back the blanket and just says, “please”.
She caves and brings herself to lie down next to him. He’s close, they can feel the heat off each other, and for the first time she’s glad he can’t sense her emotions as much.
They stay like that for a while, on their backs with their respected stuffed animals in their arms. It’s dark, her parents have gone to bed, and they’re both ignoring the quite sniffles coming from both sides of the bed.
After what seems like forever he rolls over to look at her. She turns her head to meet his eyes. “Turn that way” she says, and he does what she asks without question.
Carefully she turns toward his back. She’s anxious again, but confident that this is something they need. She places Ella behind her back and tentatively wraps her arms around Keefes waist.
He tenses for a bit, then let’s out a quite sob. He shakes in her hold for a while, but he never lets go of the grip on her hands.
When he does calm down, he brings their intertwined fingers up, and he presses the back of her hand to his face.
She can’t really call it a kiss, per say, but his skin is warm and his lips are definitely against her skin. She buries her face in his back, and their legs tangle below the fluffy comforter.
They sleep, after days of nightmares and restlessness, they sleep. It’s long, it’s not enough, but it’s peaceful because neither one of them dreams.
The next day will be hard, it’ll be full of hurt and tears and words that are going to sting, but right now, right now and everything that will happen after, it makes it all worth it.

You know what time it is—new chapter of “Mirrored Conflicts!”
Or in other words, it’s Sunday, and I updated my Keefe-raised-with-the-Neverseen AU!!
Chapter Summary:
Sophie finds Keefe’s note, and he convinces her to come with him to the Forbidden Cities to see his latest favorite human invention. (It is totally not a date, because their relationship is strictly archenemies-who-try-not-to-hate-each-other-off-the-battlefield.)

death, she is cunning and clever as hell (and she’ll eat you alive)
in which: tam deals with the fallout of a choice.
Tam didn’t know how long he was supposed to sit here.
Wraith had walked him in, led him to the bench he was sitting on, and told him it would just be a few minutes. “We just need to figure everything out” and “we need to let everyone recover” and “we’ll be with you shortly.”
Tam didn’t know how long a few minutes was in the Collective’s eyes.
All he knew was that he hated this room.
He hated being alone, more accurately. He hated not having anyone to bounce off of. He’d always had someone. First it had been Linh, his sister, the only person he’d ever truly trusted for the vast majority of his life. Then he’d somehow fallen into Sophie Foster’s dysfunctional group of outcasts and mentally ill teenagers trying to save the world. He’d been in on all their meetings, adding a dry piece of commentary or a pragmatic piece of advice, and over time he found himself genuinely caring about these people. He found himself a family.
He didn’t know if he even had friends now.
He remembered Linh’s tight-lipped frown and shell-shocked eyes. Rayni’s slitted gaze, confused tears wetting her cheekbones. Keefe’s collapse to the ground.
Sure, she had been a villain. But she had also been a living, breathing person.
Nobody in their group had premediated, planned, schemed, with the intent to kill a living person.
Nobody until now.
Why had he done it? The answer that came to his head first: he was tired. He was tired of Linh’s retreat into a stiffer, calculating version of her old self. He was tired of Sophie running herself ragged every day, manipulated by people who said they were trying to help her. He was tired of Fitz and Biana constantly grieving over a brother that hadn’t even loved them in the first place. He was tired of innocents getting dragged into this twisted plot.
But another part of him, maybe a more honest part, told him he did it because he was angry and scared.
He was angry at the pain inflicted on him by Gisela.
He was scared of what might happen to his sister. And by proxy, what might happen to him, because he couldn’t live without his sister.
So, honestly?
It was because he was selfish.
He really hadn’t changed since Exillium.
A light knock at the door sounded and before Tam could answer, it cracked open and Sophie’s head poked into the room.
She looked awful. Her dark circles, which were always rough, looked like they had been pummeled and bruised for hours. Her olive skin was drenched in sweat. The dark roots of her dyed blond hair even seemed more pronounced.
She opened her mouth, then closed it, choosing to simply stand there like a gawking observer.
If it were any other time, Tam would make a dry comment about her lack of words. But he couldn’t do that now - he wasn’t sure if he would ever be able to do that again. Besides, Sophie would see right through him. His mask of aloofness was pretty much shattered.
Instead of saying anything, she walked over and sat on the bench next to him.
“Everyone’s fine,” she assured him. “Linh’s good. She seemed to recover quickly.”
Tam didn’t know if the desperation had shown on his face that much or if she simply knew him that well by now, but either way he was grateful. “Rayni?”
“Livvy’s treating her right now. I think she’s in shock or something.”
“…Keefe?”
Sophie’s silence was enough of an answer, and Tam slumped forward, burying his face in his hand and trying to stop the cowardly tears from appearing. He couldn’t cry. Not now.
A soft hand was laid on his shoulder, and he looked up to see Sophie with an impossibly sympathetic look in her brown eyes.
And Tam broke.
The tears weren’t soft. They were angry and jagged and loud.
Sophie wrapped her arm around him and allowed him to stain her tunic, gently rubbing her hand along his shoulder and neck.
He sniffed and looked up at her. “Why are you comforting me?”
She sighed. “Tam, how often have I cried? How often have I fallen apart? How often have I been held in this exact same way?”
“This is..”
“Exactly the same,” she interrupted. “And I’m going to help you through this. Because that’s what we do. We help each other.”
We.
There was still a we.
Sophie gripped his hand, keeping the other wrapped around his shoulders.
Tam knew this wasn’t the end of his trouble. Soon, he would be confronted by the Collective, and then maybe the Council, and then he would have to somehow talk to his friends. He wasn’t going back to any semblance of normal after this.
But for now, he let her stay.

PLEASE READ IF YOU KNOW KOTLC AND PJO
So if I ever write this crossover au, Percy Jackson characters will be Keeper characters. Not ones that already exist; they'll be one of the species and if they're an elf, they'll have their own ability. Same thing with Keeper characters in the Percy Jackson world; they'll have a Godly parent or be a mythological creature.
So option 1:
Keeper characters fight the Titan war/ the war with Gaea and stuff like that..
Pjo characters fight the Neverseen.
And option 2
Keeper characters fight the Neverseen but they're pjo-ified.
Same thing with pjo characters in the Keeper universe.
