Yesterday we tweaked our designs for the kuo-toa archpriests of Sloobludop. First is Bloppblippodd, archpriest of Leemooggoogoon the Deep Father. Second is her father, Ploopploopeen, archpriesst of Blibdoolpoolp the Sea Mother.
Their redesigns are inspired by lancetfish! We started with Bloppblippodd since we felt inspired to have her resemble this fish, then applied similar changes to her father so they would resemble each other.
Old designs under the cut for anyone curious, the redesigns aren't hugely different.
The skulls on Bloppblippodd's staff aren't quite as visible in the remake's camera angle, because we wanted to show off her cool headfin.
This blade is carved out of the skull of an ancient crocodilian and lashed with the fossilized teeth of sharks. It has become a revered symbol of authority amongst the Kuo-toa. Legend claims this blade belongs to the King of all Kuo-toa. You get a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.
Believe You, Me. You can manifest the power of the collective belief that resonates within this blade. Once per day, when you are reduced to 0 HP by an attack or effect from another creature, you can force the creature to make a DC 15 Wisdom save. On a failed save, you weaponize the power of belief, and magically convince them that the attack or effect was insufficient to down you, slightly changing reality to match. You regain 1 HP and are no longer unconscious, nor prone.
Misplaced Artifact (curse). This blade doesn't really belong to you, and your non-Kuo-toa hands. If a Kuo-toa sees this blade, it may act... Unpredictably. You have disadvantage on any Charisma checks made against Kuo-toa.
