“I use beef shin - and carrots. Back in my great-Gran's day (& no doubt her great-Gran's too), how you made it (shin or trotter, carrots or without carrots) depended on what parish you lived in. My Gran & Nanny, and other families too, used to take their beanjar to the L'Islet bakery to cook in the oven overnight. The next day my family ate it for lunch - to you youngies out there, most people ate a cooked lunch as opposed to a cooked tea years ago! I still make beanjar and always the same recipe as my great-Gran's which was passed to my Nanny which was passed to my Mum”

Jean-Baptiste Lislet Geoffroy (known as Geoffrey L'Islet) (August 23, 1755 – February 8, 1836) was a French astronomer, botanist, and cartographer. L he was born in Saint-Pierre, Réunion. He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy a white, French engineer working in Mauritius, and Niama, an enslaved Senegalese princess. His father had freed his mother to ensure his son was not born enslaved. He worked in geology, showing that the shoal, Isle Plate around Mauritius was formed by the debris of the crater of a volcano. He was the uncle of abolitionist novelist Louis Timagène Houat. He married and had two children. His wife died in 1804. At age 15, he entered the engineer corps and moved to Mauritius where he worked and studied astronomy and mathematics under Bernard Boudin de Tromelin, known as le Chevalier de Tromelin. When the Anglo-French War began, he was made assistant pilot, serving with de Tromelin. He became a draughtsman to the engineers of the Isle de France. He was appointed to map Mauritius, and his success in the project earned him a commission as Geographical Engineer. Avoiding the reign of terror, he was commissioned in 1794 to visit and chart Seychelles, and his success there earned him the promotion to assistant officer in the body of military engineers. When Captain-General Charles Mathieu Isidore Decaen took charge of Mauritius, he was promoted to captain, and when Isle de France was captured, he became chief of the commission for the inspection of the island. He was elected to the French Academy of Sciences. The academy was dissolved during the French Revolution, and he was not among those reinstated when it reformed in 1793. Unable to return to France, he founded the Société des Sciences et Arts de l'Ile de France. He was the only man of color to have been a member of the academy. Among his many works was a map of the Isles of France and Reunion published first in 1797 and second in a corrected version in 1802. He published a chart of Seychelles and a map of Madagascar. He made a voyage to Madagascar, and his account of the voyage was published in Malte-Bruns Annales de Voyages. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence https://www.instagram.com/p/ChmLPfwOSmHc9osMMLMvy6_xuZh3iE1sXkuHqM0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A fairly exhaustive yet concise list of strategic voting options.
With the election in 10 days, I compiled a cross-country list of the ridings where it would make the most sense to vote strategically to prevent a Conservative minority government. Yes, I hate strategic voting, but at least with a Liberal minority propped up by the NDP we might actually get electoral reform accomplished and this really will be the last election using FPTP. In any case…
who should strategically vote in the Canadian election:
- In the three territories, vote Liberal. It’s a close race between Libs and Cons up there.
- North Island–Powell River: close between NDP and Cons - Courtenay–Alberni: close between NDP and Cons - Esquimalt–Saanich–Sooke: vote Green to prevent Con - Steveston–Richmond East: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Cloverdale–Langley City: vote Liberal to prevent Con - South Surrey–White Rock: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Vancouver Granville: vote Raybould to stick it to the Liberals - Port Moody–Coquitlam: vote NDP to prevent Con - Coquitlam–Port Coquitlam: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Saskatoon West: vote NDP to prevent Con - Desnethé–Missinippi–Churchill River: vote NDP to prevent Con - Regina–Lewvan: NDP best chance against Con - Winnipeg South: Liberal best chance against Con - Saint Boniface–Saint Vital: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Winnipeg Centre: Libs and NDP tied - Peterborough–Kawartha: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Northumberland–Peterborough South: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Whitby: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Markham–Stouffville: vote Liberal to prevent Con - York Centre: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Mississauga–Lakeshore: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Mississauga–Streetsville: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Oakville North–Burlington: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Milton: vote Liberal to unseat Con - Burlington: vote Liberal to unseat Con - Kitchener South–Hespeler: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Cambridge: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Essex: vote NDP to prevent Con - Kanata–Carleton: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Beauce: vote Con to prevent Maxime Bernier - Montmagny–L'Islet–Kamouraska–Rivière-du-Loup: vote Liberal to unseat Con - Beauport–Limoilou: vote Liberal to unseat Con - Chicoutimi–Le Fjord: vote Bloc to unseat Con - Tobique–Mactaquac: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Miramichi–Grand Lake: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Fundy Royal: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Fredericton: three way tie between Liberal, Green, and Con. Vote Lib or Green. - Saint John–Rothesay: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Egmont: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Cumberland–Colchester: vote Liberal to prevent Con - Central Nova: vote Liberal to prevent Con - South Shore–St. Margarets: vote Liberal to prevent Con
I hope this can be spread and help inform those who want to best stick it to the Conservatives.

Jersey 2019 - Teil 2
Herrschaften!
Gute Nacht!
Angie, Micha und der Hasenbär

AS OF YEAR OF THE DEPEND ADULT UNDERGARMENT
[...] [DFW, Infinite Jest, 12a]
It is known that, during the last five years of his life, Dr. James O. Incandenza liquidated his assets and patent-licenses, ceded control over most of the Enfield Tennis Academy's operations to his wife's half-brother — a former engineer most recently employed in Amateur Sports Administration at Throppinghamshire Provincial College, New Brunswick, Canada — and devoted his unimpaired hours almost exclusively to the production of documentaries, technically recondite art films, and mordantly obscure and obsessive dramatic cartridges, leaving behind a substantial (given the late age at which he bloomed, creatively) number of completed films and cartridges, some of which have earned a small academic following for their technical feck and for a pathos that was somehow both surreally abstract and CNS-rendingly melodramatic at the same time. Professor James O. Incandenza, Jr.'s untimely suicide at fifty-four was held a great loss in at least three worlds. President J. Gentle (EC.), acting on behalf of the U.S.D.D.'s O.N.R. and O.N.A.N.'s post-annular A.E.C., conferred a posthumous citation and conveyed his condolences by classified ARPA-NET Electronic Mail. Incandenza's burial in Quebec's L'Islet County was twice delayed by annular hyperfloration cycles. Cornell University Press announced plans for a festschrift. Certain leading young quote 'après-garde' and 'anticonfluential' filmmakers employed, in their output for the Year of the Trial-Size Dove Bar, certain oblique visual gestures — most involving the chiaroscuro lamping and custom-lens effects for which Incandenza's distinctive deep focus was known — that paid the sort of deep-insider's elegiac tribute no audience could be expected to notice. An interview with Incandenza was posthumously included in a book on the genesis of annulation. And those of E.T.A.'s junior players whose hypertrophied arms could fit inside them wore black bands on court for almost a year.
DENVER CO, 1 NOVEMBER YEAR OF THE DEPEND ADULT UNDERGARMENT
'I hate this!' Orin yells out to whoever glides near. He doesn't loop or spiral like the showboats; he sort of tacks, the gliding equivalent of snow-plowing, unspectacular and aiming to get it over ASAP and intact. The fake red wings' nylon clatters in an updraft; ill-glued feathers keep peeling off and rising. The updraft is the oxides from Mile-High's thousands of open mouths. Far and away the loudest stadium anyplace. He feels like a dick. The beak makes it hard to breathe and see. Two reserve ends do some kind of combined barrel-roll thing. The worst is the moment right before they make the jump off the stadium's rim. Hands in the top rows reaching and clutching. People laughing. The Interlace cameras panning and tightening; Orin knows too well the light on the side that means Zoom. Once they're out over the field the voices melt and merge into oxides and updraft. The left guard is soaring up instead of down. A couple beaks and a claw fall off somebody and go pinwheeling down toward the green. Orin tacks grimly back and forth. He's among those who steadfastly refuse to whistle or squawk. Bonus or no. The stadium loudspeaker's a steely gargle. You can never hear it clearly even on the ground. The sad old ex-QB who now just holds on place-kicks falls in beside Orin's slow back-and-forth about 100 meters over the 40. He's one of the token females, his beak blunter and wings' red nongarish. 'Hate and loathe this with a clusterfucking passion, Clayt!’ The holder tries to make a resigned wing-gesture and is almost blown into Orin's pinfeathers. 'Almost down! Enjoy the ride! Yo — cleavage-check in 22G, just by the —' and then lost in the roar as the first player touches down and sheds the red-feathered promotional apparatus. You have to scream to even be heard. At some point it starts sounding like the crowd's roaring at its own roar, a doubling-back quality like something'll blow. One of the Broncos in the rear end of a costume takes a header at midfield so it looks like the thing's ass went flying off. Orin has told no Cardinal, not even the team's counselor and visualization-therapist, about his morbid fear of heights and high-altitude descent. 'I punt! I'm paid to punt long, high, well, and always! Making me do personal interviews on my personal side's bad enough! But this crosses every line! Why do we stand for this! I'm an athlete! I'm not a freak-show performer! Nobody mentioned flying at the trade-table. In New Orleans it was just robes and halos and once a season a zither. But just once a season. This is fucking awful!’ 'Could be worse!’ Spiralling down toward the line of X's and the bill-capped guys that help strip the wings off, runty potbellied volunteer front-office-connected guys who always smirk in a way you couldn't quite level the accusation. 'I'm paid to punt!’ 'It's worse in Philly! ... had fucking water-drops in Seattle for three seaso—’ 'Please Lord, spare the Leg,' Orin whispers each time just before touchdown. '. .. of how you could be an Oiler! You could be a Brown.’
