Why is Qais suffering from malnutrition in Gaza?

1. The war has destroyed food supplies and markets, making it nearly impossible to find basic nutrition.

2. Blockades and restrictions have cut off access to humanitarian aid and baby formula.

3. The health system is collapsing, and there is no proper care or food for growing children like Qais.

Its been prolly '95 since I've read a book about a book, but I inhaled this in one sitting. Not only does it extrapolate possible/ probable endings that I never considered but spent time explaining that for readers and writers of this calibre a book is more than a narrative passtime- its more like an intellectual compass showing where to think next. Took nearly a year, but here we are, at the end of Infinite Jest. Never read someone as astute as Wallace when it comes to observing the disturbed human psyche, from the everyday to the extreme. As though he knew these psyches personally, intimately. Made me wince and squirm. The plot line has no beginning or end, but rather loops around itself infinitely in a Sierpinski gasket (according to DFW himself), into the intricate net of which we are dropped. To me, Hal’s line is ingenious structure wise, especially after the order of subsidized time is disclosed. While Gately’s trajectory is one of the most darkly funny things I’ve ever read, and, like every cast in this encyclopedic novel, the addicts are hysterically comedic and sarcastic. Lastly, the most beautiful structure is revealed in the possibility that James Incandenza’s Infinite Jest is no other than the very one we’re reading. Meta to the highest degree. A pain to read, and a read to enjoy. I finished THE BOOK! I hadn’t read any reviews or guide books, online debates about “what the author meant” before I started, and I believe this is how it should be read, so you’ll find no spoilers here. Also, THE BOOK wants to be read slowly (you’ll thank me later😉). DFW wanted the story to be sad and it truly is but also fun and entertaining and you don’t want to stop reading it. I absolutely understand people who finish THE BOOK and then immediately start it over again.
