*Lady Mary after she got Carson back for the royal visit and basically told Thomas to fuck off*: 'I hope Barrow is reflecting on what has happened and why he isnt able to be a part of the royal visit.'
*Meanwhile Thomas dancing in an illegal gay club, then getting arrested and getting bailed out of prison by his future boyfriend*: 'This is bloody fun.'
All this while Carson is dealing with the royal staff and Mr. Wilson stealing 'his' office.
Gotta say Thank you to Lady Mary

My favourite platonic friendship pairings
No one asked for it. But you will still get a list, because I feel like it.
Thomas Barrow and Phyllis Baxter - Downton Abbey (Do I even need to commentate on them? Friendship endgame. Phyllis helped Thomas multiple times during the series, even though he never wanted her pity and her help. But she didn't listen to him and in the end, they both helped each other a great deal. Nothing more to say her. I love them).
Harry Potter and Ron Weasley - Harry Potter (Before anyone comes at me, yes, I like Hermione as well. BUT.. in the books, this frienship between Harry and Ron is so much more supportive and understanding than in the movies. Ron literally gave Harry a family and a home, even though he for himself didn't have much to share. They both stood up for each other multiple times, share their love for Quidditch and their hate for school work. They are like two brothers that can get into fights sometimes but in the end, always find to each other again.)
Elton John and Bernie Taupin (Have known each other for so many years and are still so close, sharing their love for music. They give me these platonic soulmate vibes).
Georgia Warr and Rooney Bach - Loveless (I love this unconditional support of Rooney towards Georgia. She really tried to help Georgia find out who she is and even though Rooneys methods were.. questionable.. she sticked with Georgia and never feared to stand up for her.)
Lady Mary Talbot and Tom Branson - Downton Abbey (Even though I'm not a big fan of Mary, I like the way she would never hesitate to stand up for Tom in later seasons. I also like how Tom is the one person that can talk sense into stubborn Lady Mary and is also the only person who can really make her see reason and make her feel at least a little guilty. They kind of complement each other in a frienship / platonic way).
Thomas Barrow and Andrew Parker - Downton Abbey (Why does no one ever talk about these two? Even though I think this frienship is more one-sided from Thomas' side, I like how Andy at least finds some kind of friendly companionship in Thomas and honestly apologizes to him after being so rude towards Thomas. I think they could have become really close friends but of course, JF did not think of Thomas Barrow being capable of having friends...)

As Robert and Matthew stroll across Downton’s vast, lush grounds, the Earl turns to the young man and says: “You do not love the place yet.”
“Well,” Matthew stammers, “Obviously, it’s —”
“No, you don’t love it,” the Earl declares. “You see a million bricks that may crumble, a thousand gutters and pipes that may block and leak, and stone that will crack in the frost.”
“But you don’t?” Matthew wonders.
“I see my life’s work,” the Earl says.
